Toilet had dried pee all over it. Only one roll of toilet paper. Sheets didn’t look very clean. No toiletries. No wash rags. Only one towel. One employee told me the next employee could book my transportation to the airport. The next one said he couldn’t do it. When he did book it, he booked it for 4:15pm instead of 415am!

4 STAR HOTEL.QUITE OK IF ONE CAN ADJUST EXPECTATN

Upon arrival , the ambiance was positive: traditional Czech house from last two centuries, high ceiling and cool interior , a nice refuge from late afternoon summer heat. But room lacked face towels, no telephone for calling reception and standing shower stall small even for an average person. Bed and sofa n pillows comfortable though. Receptionist seemed mostly bored and gruff. Breakfast service was very late starting at 8am. Ok if you are not on business n in a hurry. Breakfast spread quite good though. Visited a friend staying at DESIGN HOTEL NERUDOVA further up the street. Such a contrast in terms of colours on the walls, and staff always warm and helpful. And it was a full service cafe!

This was a nice place to stay, it does have many stairs and it is on a steep street, but the location to see the Palace and St. Vitus Cathedral was perfect, you can see it from the hotel and you can hear the church bells.

Room was very nice and good location. It was just 4 flights of stairs to get to the room, so a bit tedious going up and down. Garden at the back was nice to relax at the end of the day.

Beautifully renovated mediaval building with some unique art pieces.
To get to upper floors was a bit tedious with need to take two different elevators
Breakfast had limited fresh fruit selections.
As we stayed for 11 days,we have noticed some days were mediocre, depending on number of guests.

I had a room under the roof which would get very hot. The airconditioning died after 2 days (out of 8). The hotel staff and management could not care less and told me it wouldn't be repaired for the next couple of weeks. The room was unbearably hot. They did not offer another room or money back (since I had to move).

My wife and I have stayed here several times and it has always been lovely! The location is right near Malostrankse Namesti and perfect for walking to Charles Bridge or hopping on a tram to go anywhere else. The view from the windows into the street is quaint, the rooftop garden is small but peaceful, and the breakfast is serviceable. The only problem on one of our recent stays was that the shower door has a huge gap at the bottom and whenever you bathe with the faucet facing the door, water streams out onto the floor. I hope they fix that soon. Other than that, stays here are perfect - and for an incredibly cheap price!

The room was nice and the staff was very helpful but if you can help it, DON’T BRING A CAR TO PRAGUE!! The parking outside the hotel is for Czech residents only. You may be towed. We couldn’t find anywhere to park our car and worried about it getting towed all night long! We cut our trip shirt because of it. Park your car at the metro and save the hassles. But again the hotel was nice, location was great, and the staff was friendly and helpful!

restaurant on property only available for breakfast, dont expect to dine there. No bar
Free mini bar in room, this is very misleading and should read \"use of small fridge in room stocked with 1 small bottle of water.\"
There is a kettle and tea, coffee sachets for 1 cup per day, no milk, you will be instructed to go to the shop and buy some !!
In general if little improvements were made it would make a huge difference but overall we enjoyed our stay and would retirn.

Little gem near Prague Castle.

Awesome hotel in the heart of the old district of Prague. Situated right under Prague Castle. Lots of little restaurants in the area, close to the streetcar. The street is on an incline so not great for those with walking difficulties. Beds was comfortable, room spacious, quiet and shower had good pressure and consistent temperature.

Can't say enough about this little gem. The building itself is among the oldest in Prague but the interior is completely modern yet has the historic charm. Good typical European breakfast. Room always clean with little added touches like a rose left each day.

Staff were friendly and were able to speak English fairly well. They arranged for car service from the airport for us at better price or equal to anywhere else.

Location was great for us. Within walking distance of Charles Bridge but away from the business of Old Town. Will definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful 4 days in the Golden Wheel. It has a prime location, virtually in the shadow of the famous Prague Castle. Our room was spacious and comfortable.The staff was excellent and the Arcadia cafe served delicious meals and snacks.

Beware steps and stairs

It could have been a lovely hotel but they failed to provide adequate safety for the guests. We had two rooms booked here for five people on our trip. While checking in, I stepped back in a small corridor past the reception desk, not knowing it was a step down into a little recessed step in the corner. This step was there to fit a small door under the main stairs. The door was open into another stairs to the lower level. Startled, I lost balance and tumbled down 2/3 of the way. Not sure what saved me - the wooden steps or the curve of the stairs - but I was able to get up with the help and get to the room. My relatives were terrified as they witnessed the fall, and insisted I’d go to the hospital. Sore and shocked, I declined. The night was painful and sleepless.
Next morning, the hotel gave two of us a free taxi to the airport. When I mentioned that in the US this horror would cost hotel pretty penny, the receptionist replied ‘but it’s in the US’, and that actually it was not their fault.
I’m happy to be alive, I’m happy that it was not my 81 years old aunt to expirience this misfortune, I have multiple bruises and scratches and my vision is not back to normal as I hit my head on the right, and my neck is stiff. All these could have been avoided if the hotel had the door at least shut. According to the picture of the lobby this door is a ‘new feature’ - there used to be a small console table in the corner. The steps up and down are all over the property and it’s not safe.

Terrific 4 star hotel

This is a 4 star hotel, not less but also not more. Everything was almost perfect.
Check in was supposed to be at 2 (as listed), but we were informed that our room will be ready only at 4.
In my initial inspection (I'm VERY clean) I noticed the toilet wasn't properly cleaned, but the rest was sparkly clean and very well placed.
The staff was accommodating and nice. We speak several languages because we lived in many places, but instead of speaking English one of the clerks insisted to speak another language he assumed we know. Some people might think it's cute, but we were clearly not interested in speaking that language and it wasn't necessary at all. The other clerks and staff members were delightful.
I found some spiderweb and we kept having problems with wifi - only one of us would be able to connect at a time if at all. And no, this has nothing to do with our devices or network settings because we travel relatively often and normally have no issues.
Checkout was painless and there were no extra charges. The room looks as described. We didn't get a queen size bed though, even though it stated we will, and instead they connected 2 small beds.

Overall a very good hotel in a key location that allowed us to explore a lot in only 3 days. We were both pleased and the price is worth it, but fixing small imperfections could easily bring them to 5 stars.

This hotel was in a fabulous location just a short walk from Charles Bridge, the old town square and the castle. The interior in the communal areas and bedrooms are of a very high standard. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms were always clean. I'd recommend this hotel to all - it's one of the best I've ever stayed in.

Fabulous Staff; Perfect Location

We were incredibly pleased with our stay at The Golden Wheel. The staff could not have been more helpful. After completing his 12-hour shift at the front reception desk, Leonardo accompanied us -- by tram and by foot -- to the restaurant (in another part of town) where we had made our dinner reservation. The welcome drink upon arrival was especially refreshing after our long train trip from Berlin. The private patio outside our room enabled us to enjoy the magnificent fall weather. You're close to many major sites, yet away from the congestion and traffic of the Old Town neighborhood.

Beautiful hotel close to the castle

We very much enjoyed staying at this hotel for 3 nights. The facilities were good and the breakfast buffet was good. We also found that the location close to the castle and large park areas was preferable to staying in the old town. The one negative was connected to the wooden ceilings / floors. The beautiful painted ceiling is the floor of the room above, and there was a family with little kids that ran around constantly, including one night at 3:30 AM. The nature of the floors means that there is little sound barrier. On the other hand, there was little noise from anywhere else - so unless there are kids around, this is likely to be a very quiet hotel.

A Hidden Gem

Despite an unassuming exterior, the hotel is surprisingly roomy, and includes several extras (a roof garden, an upstairs lounge with Wi-Fi, original artwork). The property is nicely done, with vintage and modern features, and my room had a long vestibule and dressing area that made it feel more like a suite. The premises are very quiet, despite being on a touristy street. They serve a nice breakfast. Hotel staff were very helpful, arranging for a post-stay airport transfer, the use of their Wi-Fi lounge while I waited for the driver, and translation of Czech keyboard (of all things, the @ symbol is just out of reach to US keyboard users).

The only drawback is that the street gets crowded as the weekend approaches. But the steep hill and narrow road keep traffic to a minimum, and it's an easy walk to both the Castle and the Little Quarter.

I'd definitely stay there again.

Wonderful hotel on a beautiful street in the heart of Prague. 5 minute walk to Prague Castle. 10-15 walk to St. Charles bridge. Fantastic staff that speaks English. Nice breakfast buffet was well worth the cost. Spacious room with all the amenities that you could ask for. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Charming boutique hotel on Prague's \"royal way\"

The Golden Wheel is located just below the Castle Hill district on the route connecting the castle with the Charles Bridge--a bit quieter than the Old City but easily accessible to everything. The decor is more restrained elegance than big hotel luxury with original artwork throughout, the staff is extemely helpful and attentive, breakfast very good, accommodations very comfortable. My streetfront room was quiet as soon as I closed the double French windows. My only quibble was with my raised tub/shower--I'm 55+ and climbing in and out took a bit of care. If that might be an issue just request a shower only room.

Our stay over Christmas could not have been better. Perfect location near Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Lesser Square, streetcars and innumerable lovely restaurants. 15 minute walk puts you in Old Town. Absolutely lovely staff that continually went out of their way to make our holiday trip special. Hotel itself is charming with cool art everywhere. Would completely recommend without reservation.

Walking distance to Prague castle (10 minutes uphill) and 20 Minutes to Charles bridge. Wonderful boutique hotel, friendly & helpful staff. We had the breakfast buffet on all 3 mornings. Good selection of hot or cold items. We were in a garden room at the back, so it was very quiet. There is an outside staircase so be prepared for it as there is no lift, however the staff will help you with your bags. No problem for us as it gives you a feel for the weather before you head out

The Golden wheel is a lovely old hotel that is situated in a great location near to the castle and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Old town, we thought it the nicest area in Prague.
The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming.
The only thing that wasn't to our liking was the hard matress but that seems to be normal in some of the European countries we have visited.
We only had breakfast in the hotel once and you had plenty of choice from a buffet style menu.
Our room at the front of the hotel could be a little noisy during the night(with the windows open) so l would recommend a room at the back of the building.

All staff we encountered were helpful and friendly, with check-in and out being quick and efficient. Room was large with a beautiful en suite bathroom and a huge bed. Unfortunately the mattress was very hard which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep but otherwise it would have been perfect. Quiet, safe area and excellent location for the castle and Charles Bridge. Would recommend to friends and visit again

Boutique Hotel with the Prague Feel...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel has a great location right below the Prague Castle and a 10 minute walk to Charles Bridge. The nice thing about this location aside from it's convenience is that you get away in the evening from the very busy Old Town area. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel even has a small, relaxing terrace on the roof top. We did eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant and found the buffet to be delicious and plentiful. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stayed at The Golden Wheel hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. It really is a hidden gem with a great Prague feel.

The buffet breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely hotel in Prague's castle district

I booked The Golden Wheel hotel by mistake, thinking that I was looking at the Old Town section of Prague. What a happy surprise! We were only a five minute walk from the castle and could easily cross the Charles Bridge to get into Old Town. We were away from all the bustle of Old Town, but still close to restaurants, shops, parks, and points of interest.
Our room was large and comfortable with windows that opened ( I like fresh air) onto the street and a wonderful view. The queen bed featured individual duvets. There was plenty of closet space, a minibar, a desk and chair, and another reading chair with lamp. The bathroom had only a shower, no tub- lovely, but raised on a platform that might make it more difficult for some people to enter and exit. Our bath also had a heated towel rack.
The hotel has a small elevator that we used for transporting our luggage, preferring the three flight of stairs for our daily exercise. Looking out the back door of the hotel we could see another long flight of stone stairs that led to a roof-top patio, perfect for relaxing and planning our next excursion.
The front desk people were friendly, helpful, and informative.
A buffet breakfast was included with our reservation. I'm not sure that this is always true, but the listed price for eating at the hotel was reasonable.
Be aware that the castle section of Prague is a hill. The castle was a 5 minute uphill walk from our hotel. Old Town is flat. The streets everywhere are cobblestone.

Great people - walking distance to most everything

The best things about The Golden Wheel were the truly lovely staff members, and the location. We walked all over the old part of the city, saw too many beautiful sites to mention, and had numerous good restaurants to choose from right in the area. The room itself was bigger than any other that we had in Europe, and it was very clean. Downsides were that the bed was pretty hard, and the pillows were just awful. I would have expected better bedding at a four-star rated hotel. All in all, though, we really loved our stay in Prague.

Awesome Hotel- Perfect Location to See Everything

The Golden Wheel

It’s an uphill journey
Not quite a straight shot
A gold nautical wheel
Shimmering bright marks the spot
It’s a beautiful hotel
With staff courteous and keen
The rooms are quite large
And spectacularly clean
The bathroom is up to date
The shower pressure is strong
The water mostly stayed warm
A traveler’s desire after a day long
And when we got back to our home
We found something very sweet
A pleasant memento was crafted
To soothe our tired feet
The morning breakfast downstairs
Was a scene to behold
A full spread sat before us
It was beautiful, it was bold
Eggs, fruit, meats, and cheese
And sweet tarts that did please

What a lovely piece of history. We could not have been more pleased with the Golden Wheel. Great location, friendly and helpful staff, large room and they had the twin beds together to make a king, yeah! We would highly recommend this hotel.

Very well located hotel for a city break

We found this hotel to be very well placed in the city: near the castle, lots of good restaurants, and a short walk or tram ride from the rest of the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They love their city and their hotel and it made us feel very welcome. The room was spacious and well equipped and clean. It was a pleasure staying here.

The staff was just fine, however they didn't help me with my big suitcase (the hotel is full of stairs, with 2 lifts but not working for every floor. Not amicable for elderly or people with disabilities), not good. Only Leonardo was really helpful.
Overall the hotel was disappointing, the room was like a rooftop, it didn't have a window (only a small one in the roof top), Breakfast was ok, but nothing special.
Location was good, but I´ll not recommend this hotel, it was expensive compare with what we received..

A fanatstic weekend to remember.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.Staff extremely welcoming and helpful, room beautifully presented with some luxury extras as a surprise, and endless choice available for breakfast.Situated ,only a few minutes walk from the Castle it was a fantastic base for a long weekends adventure visiting Prague.

Room offered to older guests was unacceptable.

A pleasant young woman greeted us nicely but had limited English and limited knowledge of the room. She told us how to reach our room and provided a key and explained about changing elevators at the first floor. She didn't mention that the room was at the top of the building, in two levels with 15 plus steps in a narrow stairway to get to the bedroom. The bed is raised such that sitting up would result in hitting your head on the sloped roof/ceiling under the eaves. The room offered was impossible to stay in. The upper bathroom contained a toilet with a toilet seat that wasn't attached to the toilet and supposedly this was a 4-star hotel. When we explained the issues to the desk lady she could only offer one other room which was even worse as to stairs to get to the room. She did allow us to use the computer to locate another hotel which had space available which we appreciated. There was nothing \"romantic\" about the room/ accommodation that was reserved for us. It was a terrible beginning to our Prague visit which was a bucket list stop for both myself and my wife.

Stay in lesser town

This is an historic part of the town and the buildings reflect this, however once inside the door there is a warm ambience and a coziness. We had a comfortable spacious room at the rear of the hotel which was very quiet and restful. The unusual layout of the room(s) is hard to describe but suffice to say we had everything we needed. Umberto was particularly helpful and we could have easily stayed for longer than 5 days. Would stay there again, thanks for the experience!

When I arrived to the lobby, I was winded from climbing Nerudova street from the train station. Though they were extremely welcoming: retrieved a glass of apple juice (refreshing) and even assisted me carrying my bags up to my room. You will find this personal touch throughout your stay; they seemingly operate with a skeleton crew so if there is an issue, the front desk agent promptly comes to you room. In fact there was a conflict...an unpleasant surprise t that I won't specify to save the hotel's rep...but the bottom line is that they were very good about the conflict resolution, offering to move me to another room as well as paying for my taxi to the airport. Speaking of the rooms, get ready for a very, very firm bed. Maybe you like this but I was slightly uncomfortable. My #1 FAVORITE quality about the hotel is the location: Prague Castle is your backyard, so take advantage of it! Also Charles Bridge is a very brisk downhill walk. Overall, as individual traveling for leisure I had an amazing stay.

Best Hotel in Prague! Staff are Incredible

I arrived at the Golden Wheel while on a European Tour with my band. I was sick with flu, fever and getting sicker.
Staff were super friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. They brought tea and honey to my room, checked on me and of course the beautiful surroundings of this former place ... Made me feel like a Queen!!! It was close to everything and just far enough away from the crowded tourist area.
Shout out to Umberto!!!! ... Who gave great advice about where to shop and how to get around. Also to the super happy gent who runs the breakfast bar in the am!! You made our stay incredible!

Very good hotel, excellent location

The hotel is located on famous Nerudova street, which is a charming, busy street with lots of shops and restaurants that links Charles bridge to the Prague Castle. It is a convenient location and there are lots of restaurants nearby for dinner.
The hotel is very clean and comfortable, with luxury amenities such as heated bathroom floors.

Great Service

We had researched this hotel and knew it was a short walk up to the Castle precinct as well as an easy walk down to the Charles Bridge and the Old Town. We booked a superior double and were impressed with the size of the room. What we were most impressed with however was the wonderful and friendly service we received from the front desk staff, in particular Umberto and Gianfranco. They were most helpful with any of our enquiries and did their best to see we enjoyed our stay. The breakfasts were good and the special touch of chocolates and a rose on the bed everyday made us feel welcome.

Prague - away from the guided tours

Wonderful historic atmosphere to the hotel, but all facilities bang up-to-date. Our 1st room, though beautiful, was too noisy. We were given new room without any fuss. All the staff welcoming & helpful. Shame internet access so variable. Wouldn't recommend it for families with young children. Would ruin the atmosphere for couples like us.

Beautiful! Lovely staff, pretty street

We loved our stay at the Golden Wheel. It felt like we were at home in Prague. the staff sorted out our hire car issues and have us lots of useful advice about staying in Prague. There were nice eateries nearby and it was only a short walk to the Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge.
The street is quiet and the views very pretty.

Breakfast finishes at 10 but if you go down at 15 to ten there is almost anything left, that should not happen
