The hotel was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's also in a great location within easy walking distance of the Richmond station and the Green/tourist areas.
My only complaint is that if your room is on the lower level, you will hear a lot of noise from the main floor above. I was situated under the restaurant and heard lots of loud thumping (footsteps, chairs moving, etc.) late at night and early in the morning.
That said, everything else about the property was fantastic.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Inside decoration is classy and well maintained. Staff were all excellent. We had a Selwyn Room (407) - big enough for a night or two - but cosy. Nespresso & kettle in room and good choice of tea/coffee. Only 2 very small negatives - the sink tap in our room was very stiff to operate and my wife's breakfast (salmon and eggs on toast) was late in arriving and yet looked rushed (toast undercooked and salmon just piled in a corner of the plate). We would definitely return though.

I’m gluten free but there were many options for me. I’m not celiac but if you are there was sealed gluten free muesli as part of the buffet.

The Selwyn Hotel could be a really super hotel. Some of it is lovely and we were very happy in part. However, when we arrived in our room, the previous occupant had left clothes in the wardrobe. Which suggests the room was not cleaned well enough before our arrival. We let reception know, they came & removed the clothes but also took all the hangers - which left us with nowhere to hang our clothes. We then decided to watch tv, but the tv did not work - no satellite connection. Someone came to check it, but it wouldn’t work. We didn’t really get an apology and we were not offered any recompense, which was disappointing. It’s a shame as it’s a beautiful hotel - with a bit more care it would be excellent. Or at least if something does go wrong, they should take appropriate actions for better customer service - for example they still charged us £20 for parking when we left, when they could have waived that fee.

We have enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Selwyn - the hotel is perfectly located for access to Richmond and the station, the rooms are clean and very well decorated, however the standout is the staff who are lovely and welcoming. We want to especially thank Kelly the receptionist who was kind enough to upgrade our room and also left a birthday card in our room which was such a thoughtful touch! The general manager is also very friendly and attentive and both went out of their way to make our stay memorable. This has become our go to hotel for when we stay in London and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others!

Booked a \"classic room\" for husband and I and photo's on the website looked very nice and big enough for the two people. In reality the actual size of the room was so small, you couldn't even open up the wardrobe door enough to hang your clothes! Car parking spaces are very small and they tend to overbook the spaces so when you arrive, there aren't any spaces available. We didn't know the hotel was directly under the Heathrow flight path so was woken up at 4am every morning. Won't be returning.

Outstanding hotel, highly recommend. Excellent friendly staff made us feel very welcome. We got a basic double room which was small but efficient. It did have small bedside tables on each side of the bed and a small desk with chair. Nice little nook held the coffee and tea service. Shower pressure was great, linens were high quality, bed was comfortable. We did have drinks in the bar/seating area after returning from dinner and had a lovely visit with the front desk staff. Lots of dining options and coffee shops nearby. Perfect for a night or two but I would want a bigger room if we were staying longer. Opening up two suitcases for an extended time would be hard to do in this room. Note that Richmond is close to Heathrow and you will hear airplanes until midnight and starting at 6am no matter where you are. The hotel has good insulation so we had no trouble sleeping, but we could definitely hear the jets.

Fantastic hotel with excellent service - nothing was too much effort for the hotel staff. We were staying to visit Kew gardens and the whole hotel experience really elevated our trip. Would definitely recommend!

The property is very nicely looked anfter and finished to a very high spec. The staff were very professional and friendly. The hotel is perfectly situated in Richmond and is close to everything. The only downside was to discover that it costs £20 per night to park the car! However the cost of the hotel was reasonable so not a disaster. Overall, my stay was okay. I was allocated a room on the Lower Ground floor. I could hear footsteps in the late evening from others staying at the hotel. No mini bar fridge to put cold drinks. Only terrestrial TV channels available. No facility for Apple iPhone users to screen mirror. Overall, had the feel of a basement.

The hotel was really nice but the service level was poor. They failed to refresh our room and said it was down to a staff shortage. There was no communication other than when we asked at the reception desk. It was a shame as the hotel and breakfast was good and we would use it again regardless.
