The staff members are very helpful and friendly. The offered directions and assisted with parking options. But the property is very outdated. The chairs are threadbare and stained. Tiles in the bathrooms are broken. It’s also a little hard to find and to get your luggage up to your room. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel

This hotel has definite pluses and minuses. On the plus side, it has an incredible location in the New Market, only a few blocks from the opera house. Incredible shopping and restaurants at your doorstep. The Capuchin Church across the street.
Minuses include a dated and stale interior, lack of air conditioning, located on the true 5th and 6th floors, the smallest shower I have seen in a hotel, no electrical outlets in the bathroom, and old carpeted floors. Even in late September it was too hot, and the fan only runs for two hours. There was no receptionist after ten pm.

Great for walking about!

Location could not have been better if you have a short visit and plan to do a lot of walking. Centrally located, didn't have to use public transportation or taxis to enjoy the beautiful core of Vienna.

Driving a rental car, it is hard to find the hotel. Getting to the nearby underground parking area (lots of 1-way streets) is an adventure. Hotel staff were great. Our room was very nice.

This place is great because of the location. When we checked in, our room reeked of cigarette smoke, even though it's a non-smoking hotel and there is a sign in the room. We had to open all the windows to air it out over several days. The shower was awful. It would turn scalding if anyone used water in our room or the room next to us. My husband had a red patch on his chest for a few days because of it. I started trying to get up earlier and earlier in the morning to shower to avoid it, but never really could. Location was great but I might look elsewhere next time.

More bang for your buck elsewhere

This hotel is in a GREAT location, but it feels more like a dormitory than a hotel. It didn’t feel very clean and the front desk assistant did not wear a mask. It’s on a pedestrian street and only the top floor is the hotel - be prepared to carry your bags. Overall, I was stunned that this hotel was billed as four stars. It certainly was expensive for what we got.

Nice, helpful front desk. We skipped the 15 wuro per person breakfast, so cannot comment on that. Very good location. The property is quite dated with squeeky floors, old decor, and an OK layout. We were booked for a room with \"city views\" and instead faced a cluster of buildings and equipment (four buildings, including ours, forming an enclosure such that the only rhing you can see is the adjacent buildings and just a small bit of sky). The bed was pretty good. Water pressure was good, but the showerhead was loose and would constantly point at the wall of the shower. The bathroom was internal (no outside window) and the vent made noise but did not work AT ALL, totally broken. I told them the first day. It was never fixed. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

Located right at the centre of Vienna, this boutique hotel gives one the opportunity to visit most of the major attractions on foot. Two U-Bahn stations are both three minutes walk away, as are also tram stops, the Opera, Albertina and Stephansdom. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and definitely highly recommend this hotel. It is great value for money, considering the property’s top location, also at the core of the prestigious shopping area. Will definitely be back. Ray Cutajar - Malta.

If I ever come back to Vienna, this is where I’ll be staying and I will recommend it to everyone. The hotel itself is charming, the staff was friendly and very accommodating (let us keep our luggage in a separate room after we had checked out to continue sight-seeing), and the location is excellent. There is so much to do in Vienna within walking distance of the hotel. Thank you Aviano!

I loved the location of this hotel. It is literally in the heart of the old city. There was a grocery store to buy ready made sandwiches, coffee and treats that was less than a 2 minute walk. Countless restaraunts and shops on your doorstop. The hotel irself was fine, clean bathroom. Rooms are not updated at all, but everything was functional. No air conditioning but big the big open windows made up for it.

In the heart of old town

Great hotel and amazing location. Unfortunately there was a bit of a heat wave so a wee bit study at night. Staff was excellent and so was the morning breakfasts. We are headed back there today for two more nights before heading home.

It's not really a hotel, don't let the picture fool you, the renting 2 floors in the building and it feels more like old apartment complex.. No aircon in the room, not accessible by car so be ready to walk with your suitcase and climb stairs..
The was a minibar but it was empty, we didn't even have a water bottle in the room.. Perfect place if you like old apartments

Loved the location. Right in the center of everything; restaurants, shopping center, subway station, and tourist attractions all super close by (within walking distance). The price was good for the location. The building was being painted when we were in there, so it was dusty. We had a room facing the inside courtyard, so it was not noisy for us. It was in the middle of the summer heat, so it was very hot because there was no air conditioning. The bed was too soft and the sofa bed was firm. Overall, good experience. It was more of small, European, family apartment vibe and not 4 star fancy hotel. The Wi-Fi was great.

A bit of a disappointment

First issue was that they are installing a new elevator and the work is dragging on beyond the original completion date, so they sent me an e mail warning me that there may not be a working elevator and if not then we would get a 30% discount. No sense of being able to cancel. Arrived to find that it is 7 levels up to reception, 200+ steps. To get back and forth to our room was 170 steps. When we huffed and puffed up to reception there was no apology.
Bathroom was tiny, even by European standards. Room was fine. Breakfast was OK.

Classic, simple elegance in central location

Elegant, simple old fashioned room with high ceilings. No frills but extremely comfortable, and, most importantly, plenty of outlets.

We asked for quiet room and were not disappointed, could not believe how quiet and private our 3rd floor back room was, while being in middle of action in center of Vienna. We typically choose to stay outside the historic core, but Pension Aviano worked out beautifully.

It was a bit confusing to locate initially, but once I checked in everything was great. The person that checked me in was very helpful and courteous. They showed me how to get to Schönbrunn via metro and was very helpful about familiarizing myself with the city. The room was great. Had an issue with a light fixture but staff fixed the issue within 10 minutes. You can't be the location, so I would definitely recommend!

Intimate hotel in excellent location!

I like the small boutique family feel to the property. Personal service was appreciated. I got extra pillows and a kettle without any issue- all by walking to the reception which was literally 10 metres away.
There's a great breakfast health juice shop just downstairs, church with crypt of past royalty within 50m on its left, and pedestrian shopping area just round the corner.

perfect location in Vienna

Pension Aviano is a bit unusual,being the top two floors of a 7 story building (by U.S. counting). Perfect location for seeing Vienna. Very friendly staff and very helpful. They made good suggestions for things to do. Our room on the end of the corridor did not have great internet strength, but everywhere else, the connect were good and fast. Breakfasts were fine. We would be happy to stay there again. .

Pension Aviano Was Just OK

The Pension Aviano - My Secret Home was about what we expected for the price we paid. The wifi was atrocious. It worked fine during the day when you are gone but at night we had to go to reception to get anything done on wifi. It was very frustrating! We had to find another way to get to Budapest other than on the train because they quit running because of the Migrant Syrian Situation. We had to get bus reservations and a refund on our train tickets. The reception did what they could do to help us and it was no fault of theirs that the owners did not have better wifi. Anyways, we finally got this done. The owners need to look into improving the wifi. The place is very old and could use a redo on decorating. Our table on the right side of the bed was so rickety I could not put anything on it. The bathroom worked well but the shower itself was so small you could hardly move. I would bend over to reach my soap and I would hit the handle that turns off the shower. I am not a big person. My husband said the same thing happened to him. There was plenty of hot water. The commode flushed good. The water drained good. The breakfast offerings were slim but good. The elevator to get to the hotel was very, very small. It fit my husband and myself with 2 medium suitcases. Two couples could not fit comfortably. The directions the hotel gives you are exactly right. Easy to find.

Nice hotel in central location

The hotel was centrally located and has an easy access to anywhere on Karntner, Stephansplatz Plats, Staatsoper, concert hall, or any other tourist attractions. At our arrival, the front staff wasn't friendly or welcoming which was a bit disappointing, made our first impression at Viena not that excellent. The lady who was there at the front in the next morning was friendly and helpful.
The room was extremely hot, because of the heat wave, and just because the room was facing in the sun, it didn't get cooler even at the night. It was extremely noisy outside in a morning starting 6am, not sure what it was, but maybe a cleaning on the street or garbage collection. We couldn't go back to sleep. If we kept the window closed we might not have heard the noise, but not sure.
The morning breakfast was excellent as we had a lot of choices and the lady at the breakfast room was friendly.
Viena is beautiful city and has a lot to do at day time; however, most of the stores close at 1800 or so and nothing is open on Sunday. Also, restrauants close to the hotel close early too.

Lovely clean rooms in superb central location

Pension Aviano is a small family-run bed and breakfast hotel on the top two floors in a little square just off one of the main (now pedestrianised) streets in Vienna, no more than a couple of minutes from the main cathedral square.

The rooms are calm but characterful, with large comfortable beds and magnolia reproduction furniture, accompanied by discreet chandelier-type lighting. In short: nice, low-key Viennese charm without any shouty opulence.

The breakfasts are an abundant self-service choice of cold cuts, sausages, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, yoghurts and cereals. There's something for everyone.

The only imperfections were erratic wi-fi and a minibar that didn't cool.

All of this would be fantastic on its, own, but the people are the best thing about the place, offering helpful, genuinely friendly service that is never formal, condescending or indifferent. They were very proactive to help with everything from ice (to make up for the dead minibar) to advice on where to go and how to get there, take the trouble to check, double check and print out their recommendations.

We had a wonderful stay and would never dream of staying anywhere else in Vienna now. Highly recommended.

Best little hotel in Vienna

This hotel was perfect for us. It was small, the staff was very friendly and very helpful. They all spoke English and helped us with German words, it was fun! They were great with suggestions and directions. The food was very nice, the coffee was really strong, be ready for that! It is located in the most convenient area you could ask for.Don't expect a hotel lobby in the regular sense, this hotel is really the 3rd and 4th floor of a business, but once you reach your floor, ( by the slowest elevator known to man- enjoy the 45 second ride) you will be enchanted by the ambiance of the lovely hotel. I will definately stay there again and again.

Perfect location, excellent stay

Spent two nights at Aviano with my mother and brother. Our threebed room was big enough for us all! The hotel is perfectly situated on the main shopping street and close to both Stephansdom and the Opera and many museeums. Breakfast was also good and the staff was very friendly. We were very pleased and would definitedly come back.

We stayed here for three nights and can't speak highly enough about Pension Aviano. Gorgeous rooms, extensive and tasty breakfast, friendly staff and perfect location for exploring the city. We travelled with a young baby and the staff were fantastic, playing with our son and offering him lollies. They also helped us book trains and print tickets. We will stay here again and I thoroughly recommend to others.

My best ever secret Aviano home in Vienna

Fantabulous!!!!! From now on IT IS MY SECRET HOME IN VIENNA. Smacked in the middle of the most touristic area in Vienna. Right around the corner is the most famous pedestrian walkway filled with shopping places, restaurants, souvenirs. It is the only place we will returned to in Vienna. They helped me with tickets for the hop-on hop-off tourist bus. Great breakfast buffet, with a smile. Fantastic!!!!!!!

Wonderful Stay!

Pension Aviano was a pleasant surprise. The location was very convenient for a young couple wanting to explore the city. It was minutes by foot to most of the main site. But the most pleasant thing this hotel had was the service. We stayed in room 414 and it was big enough for the two of us, with a little living space. Breakfast every morning was wonderful. The owner was always there to welcome you and give you suggestions on what to do that day. We had a wonderful stay in Pension Aviano and will make sure to go back and recommend to any family and friends. Thank you Pension Aviano for the wonderful Stay!

Very nice hotel in The Ring

This pension is in the very heart of the Ring in Vienna. A close walk to all the inner Ring sites and near most of the main public transportation stops. It's a very sweet boutique hotel on the 6th floor of building which provides very nice views to the St. Stephen Church and the pedestrian walk below. Our room was very spacious with very nice bedding, well appointed sitting areas, very clean, and with a wonderful old world ambience and charm. This was our splurge hotel for our last night in Vienna. The staff are very warm, welcoming, and helpful. The breakfast is a very nice spread of sweet and savory items. You can definitely fill up on breakfast and not have to eat til dinner again. I definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a lovely and gracious place to find respite from the busy-ness below in The Ring. It was very quiet and we slept well. If you have a car, they provide discounted parking nearby.

Simple comforts in central Vienna

Pension Aviano is tucked in a short side-street between a wide pedestrian shopping street and an old market-place, on two floors of an old mansion, as is often the case with European hotels. To my surprise, unlike most of these, my room was very spacious and gracious (they kindly gave me an up-grade because I was staying for four nights), with the special feature of a little bay with windows on three sides looking down on the main street and a view of the beautiful steeple of St. Stephansdom, as well as an ancient church to the left side. All was very clean and comfortable, though kept very simple. A full breakfast was provided, with the abundance of fruit especially appreciated. The staff were very helpful. I found the location excellent for most anything you might want to see in the old centre.
The one disadvantage was that strollers in Karntnerstrasse could be noisy at night, but that is a common enough problem for light sleepers in Europe.

This hotel vastly over represents its star rating. It is barely a hostel but puts itself in a category to honestly does not deserve. I can not recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy a cozy and intimate place. it is barely good enough for a budget conscious student looking for a well located place. Avoid if you have any means and desire to enjoy a place that you hope will impress you. Cheers.

Perfect location for price

Staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Can't beat the location and price comparison with other hotels nearby. Older hotel on top two floors, but the room was big (albeit tiny shower).

Aviano pension Wien

I usually trust the Hotels.com ratings on the number of stars. But this time, i was bitterly deceived. The hotels claims a 4 star rating. in fact, i would rather rate it as a 2 star hostel for back packers. The sense of arrival is sub zero, the general condition of the hotel is rather poor. But the room was clean and the bed quite comfortable. The bath room was rudimentary, absolutely nothing to do with a 4 star hotel. In comparison, the Intercontinental is rated as a 4 star in Montreal, Canada. This place is far far away from such a standing. As for breakfast, well, rather rudimentary as well. I paid 100 Euro for the night. I guess that when you pay peanuts, you should expect a Monkey. Well, i got a monkey. I must make a note for the personnel that were quite nice though. They deserve my compliments. Live and learn i guess.

excellent location

Our stay was good and the hotel is located in the middle of the centre , very close to Stephans Dome. Friendly staff and nice breakfast.The \"family style\" driven pension is something we can recommend to anyone.

We enjoyed this hotel. I'm not sure we would stay here in the summers as the room did not appear to have air conditioning. The location was very good for seeing the major sites and museums in Vienna.

Really is a \"Secret\" Gem

From the lobby this hotel doesn't look like much, but when you arrive upstairs, it has lots of charm and character. The rooms are lovely, spacious, and well decorated Baroque style. Staff is super friendly and the break fast is great. Location can't be beat!

Best location

This is a wonderfully central hotel - 5 minutes walking from major sights.

There is no A/C, and one night it got too warm for the comforter.

If you don't like street noise, ask for a room off the pedestrian street.

Helpful and very pleasant staff.

Pension Aviano - Great location, but...

it is a bit dated. The bathroom was small, the toliet seat broken, and I have sent to recycling TVs much larger than the one in my room. No shampoo either.

Beds were decent and the room was quite large. Great location, except the surrounding buildings magnified the sounds from the street below. Screaming woke me up at 2 am one night.

Lobby is on the 4th floor, and rooms are on the 3rd and 4th floors - very small and slow elevator made using stairs a necessity if time was an issue.

Free internet and free breakfast was nice - but I will be looking for a more modern hotel for my next stay.

In the Heart of Vienna

The pension is very cozy, beautiful and the location is simply perfect. The standard room we stayed in was beautifully decorated, with nice view to the Neuer Markt square. A little bit inconvenient were a very tiny bathroom and imperfect sound isolation.

We were made to feel most welcome - a home from home

An enjoyable trip - the service of the staff was fantastic and they went out of their way to make my husbands birthday memorable.
The room was spacious and the beds extrememly comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent, a good choice of foods coverning both a continental selection as well as cooked element.
Location brilliant although it was sometimes a little noisy by vitual of its position.
Overall an enjoyable stay although the lack of sufficient air cooling systems in the room made it difficult to sleep.

Great hotel in a great location!

A great hotel in a great location. Finding the hotel from the street is a little challenging. Find the address and then look for the hotel name on the list of apartments/businesses at that address. Once inside you need to take the elevator to the 5th floor.

Vienna Stay

Hotel is excellently located close to the opera, palace, transportation and shopping with a friendly and professional staff. They are very helpful with any local needs for touring, restaurants, banking etc. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. My wife and I would definitely stay there again.
