We travel quite a bit, and this was one of the top hotel stays we have ever experienced. The property, being recently renovated, is beautiful, tastefully appointed, and comfortable. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Mario, who met us at reception, and Elizabeth, our server at breakfast every day, were exceptional. They both were personable, helpful and greeted us by name. Elizabeth even remembered how my wife and I like our latte's from the first day! The hotel is fantastic, but the staff put it over the top!

Perfect location to walk to the major attractions. Public transportation is close and easy to use. Lots of great restaurants in a 10min walking radius. Staff was extra friendly, rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. We would stay here again.

This hotel is a 1930’s experience at best. There’s barely any space to move around in the room. There’s no air-conditioning. And the noise from the street goes on incessantly. I couldn’t get any sleep because I had to have the windows open because it is so stuffy especially when it’s really hot outside Because it’s located in the main thorough fare of Vienna there’s so much traffic late into the night of people and then in the early morning with vans delivering and garbage collection

Cons: shabby room and furniture, small bathroom, outdated 19\" TV that did not work because no batteries in the remote (staff was not able to provide them on request). No kettle or coffee maker. Noisy trucks delivering goods to the restaurants early in the morning (a pedestrian-only street).

This hotel has a perfect location in the center of Vienna. It is a smaller hotel with nice charm and a helpful staff. A nice breakfast is included. The only shortcomings are the boiled eggs were always hard boiled and served hot. I would have preferred soft boiled eggs. The bathrooms are small so if you are overweight it could be difficult to navigate. If iou are travelling in the summer note that this hotel is not air conditioned. I believe they have fans. Not an issue otherwise. I would definitely stay there again (except maybe not in July or August). Great staff.

Fabulous time in Vienna!

Location! Location! This hotel is right in the middle of the central tourist area and within easy walking distance to so many places: Albertina platz, the museum quarter, Staats Opera and MusiekVerein plus the many, many restaurants. The staff was super friendly and welcoming and so helpful with hints and advice (even if your request is off the beaten tourist path). I will visit them again anytime! Oh and just incase you land in Vienna and your internet is suddenly not working: closest metro stop to hotel is Karlsplatz.

Great location!

The best part of this hotel is the location. It couldn't be any better!!
The rooms and bathroom were very small, but it was OK for us since we were out all day enjoying the city. The hotel is old with no luxuries, but clean and comfortable. I would stay there again.

Viennese Charm

A proper old-fashioned European hotel in a great area with plenty of eating options and opportunities for shopping, while just a few minutes' walk to the Hof, the Spanish Riding School and the Oper.
Real door keys, writing paper and envelopes in the room, delicious breakfast (included in the room rate), friendly and helpful staff. Yes, my room was so tiny I was glad to have no traveling companion (where would I have put him and his suitcase?) and, yes, there's no air-conditioning: but there are proper double windows that you can open into the tiny courtyard the way your forebears did.

Full of character and a genuine Viennese experience, with a fantastic Art Nouveau facade thrown in for good measure.

Great location, good breakfast and very, very little street noise. Only complaint is if one wants an espresso drink, not only are they not good, they are outrageously overpriced. Suggest they just not offer them. Besides, the coffee included in the breakfast is excellent.

Great location but quirky.

Very conveniently located to the Innerstadt, especially Opera House and Hofburg Palace. Coffee or tea \"to go\" is 5 Euros/cup even though it is free on the breakfast buffet. Sent shirts to be pressed and later found burnt starch marks on one. Room was quite small, especially the bathroom. Always toward in the room, not controllable by the guest.

Conveniently located hotel

Small boutique hotel with excellent service and extensive breakfast. Great for single or double occupancy. Right in the centre of town, most important attractions within walking distance or otherwise the Hop-on Hop-off bus stops in the vicinity to get you wherever one wants to go.

One block from opera. Almost everything walkable 22 rooms with someone always there. Friendliness of staff and willingness to help (make change, suggest restaurants, or hold door when you have a lot of luggage) varied greatly. Nice variety at breakfast with food ok.

Great character and excellent location

This is a lovely little hotel in a pedestrian area in the middle of Vienna. You can walk to many of the main museums and sights and you are in the midst of great shopping and cafes.

I did have my wallet stolen when I was shopping across the street so do beware of pickpockets!

The staff were lovely and very helpful.

Great location for a visit to Vienna. Claudia and her team were very helpful. The breakfast was also very nice. The rooms were quite small but it is to be expected for this kind of hotel. We liked the traditional decor. Would have appreciated facilities to make coffee in room. We needed air-conditioning as it was very hot during our visit, but a fan was provided. For me, the location made up for the few nigglies. Will stay here again

Charming hotel in great location

I stayed for 3 nights to attend a conference. The room was charming and comfortable and within easy walking distance of the whole city center, as well as near the metro and tram. The people working at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety and plenty of food. When I left something behind at departure, the front desk called my taxi (which the hotel had arranged) and the receptionist was waiting outside to hand it to the driver when we came back. She saved me a world of hassle and I still got to the airport in plenty of time.

Quaint hotel near the center of town

This hotel was wonderful. It is so easily accessible to everything in the center of town. The staff was super friendly and amazingly helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was nice. The breakfast was always delicious and plentiful. The room was small but quaint. It got a little warm at night so we opened the windows. Because of the central location, it would be a little loud at night with the windows open, but it was more comfortable to have the fresh air coming in. The bathroom is very small, but it was adequate for our needs. I would recommend this location to anyone traveling to Vienna. We enjoyed it immensely.

A hotel of character and charm. Very friendly and helpful staff. Decorated the bedroom with balloons and bunting when they found out it was my husband's birthday. Plenty to eat at the buffet style breakfast. Central to shops, museums and other tourist attractions. Very short walk to tram and underground (U bahn) stops. Well worth a return visit.

Charming old vienna style hotel

The staff were so nice. This is a very small, family run hotel. It is almost like staying at someones house. NO AC. Which was fine in September, but I am not sure about the summer. Windows open right onto a pedestrian friendly street. Was very noisy Friday night, sat and Sunday nights were not noisy at all. Short walk to the opera, train and stephanplatz.

An impeccably run hotel in the historic centre

I spent 5 nights here in May 2016 as a leisure traveller from the UK. I found the Hotel zur Wiener Staatsoper to be an ideal base from which to experience Vienna and its cultural attractions; I wouldn't hesitate in returning. The hotel, (with its much-photographed neo-baroque facade) its services and facilities are as described on their website. Although the Single room I occupied was small, it was quiet, clean, characterful, comfortable and perfectly functional (and I enjoyed the fresh selection of fayre offered daily in the breakfast room).The hotel's friendly, knowledgeable and helpful reception staff (fully conversant in English) are a real asset; they offered to assist with excursions/tickets and organised a car transfer to the airport for me. I didn't use the Internet during my stay although I believe Wi-Fi was available.

Good Hotel to visit Museums and attend Opera

It is a very well located hotel, half a block from the walking street, close to Opera House and Museum Island. However, the Hotel is an old house, uncomfortable beds, very small bathroom, no servibar at the room. The phone did not work and lights at the bathroom needed some time to have them on. Both things were fixed after reporting them.
Staff very helpful, the breakfast is limited, check out time 11 am is to early and no flexibility for additional time. A very small TV with mostly German speaking channels, one in French, none in Spanish, two in English..
And for this condition I find it expensive.

Great Location-Tiny Rooms

Two weeks traveling throughout Romania & arrived in Vienna to the smallest room I have ever stayed in! It was a triple with a Murphy bed for the 3rd person...but we found the room was so small that we had to have the staff remove furniture to allow us areas to set our suitcases(three). The bathroom was as small as the room...when sitting on the toilet my knees were touching the WALL in front of me!! And I'm only 5'7\" tall! Impossible to dress in the bathroom as well as it was so small.

I liked the very old world feel. Breakfasts were great. I intentionally had a small room but smaller than I thought. I wanted a cheap room. Other rooms were much nicer. Very adequate but probably not up to a lot of folk's standards. Was very hot in Vienna and no air conditioning so room was pretty hot during the day. But still I liked it. Great location, great staff. Felt like another time.

FANTASTIC Location but oh so tired

Couldn't ask for a better location. Opera house and Cathedral just a couple of hundred metres. Unfortunately the breakfast was poor and the rooms are very small and very very dated. The en-suite was ridiculous. You couldn't sit on the loo with the door shut. No air-conditioning, no coffee facilities. Did the location outweigh all the other issues. NO. There's 2 best westerns 30 metres away. Go there.

Kleines Hotel in Top-Lage

Kleines, stilvolles altes Hotel in Top-Lage direkt an der Fußgängerzone. Wer 3,50 Meter hohe Zimmerdecken und alte Messingbeschläge mag und dafür kleine Ausstattungskompromisse wegen echtem Altbau in Kauf nimmt, wird sich hier so wohlfühlen wie wir. Supernettes Personal.

Das Hotel liegt zentral daher kann man zu Fuß sehr schöne Spaziergänge machen. Der Nachteil liegt bei der Nähe zur Innenstadt früh morgens ist Anlieferverkehr und das ist laut.

Ett gammalt fint hotell som ligger perfekt placerat för centrum och transporter. Bra restauranger och barer nära. En bra italiensk glassbar vägg i vägg. Det enda vi saknade var AC. Vi fick sova med fönstren öppna, vilket innebar att sömnen stördes.

Very charming old style hote. The building is from 1896 and was lovingly restored. Cozy room although miniscule. Very good breakfast. The staff is cheerful and very helpful. Very silent rooms. They really make you feel at home. Perfect location with all central attractions {Innerring} close and good shopping and eating options.

De locatie, netheid en vriendelijkheid van het personeel was positief. Het hotel ligt tegen de winkelstraat van Wenen aan. Ook het OV is goed bereikbaar. Jammer genoeg zijn de kamers aan een fikse opknapbeurt toe. Als je langer bent dan 165 cm is het behoorlijk behelpen in de te kleine badkamer. En het zeer zachte bed is ook alleen geschikt als je niet langer bent dan 180 cm. Ben je langer, zoals ik, dan steken de voeten uit.

Hyggeligt lille hotel med unik beliggenhed.

Hotellet er fra før verden gik af lave og badeværelser blev et krav. Badet er derfor “eftermonteret” - nydeligt, rent og velfungerende, men meget småt. Størrelse XXL ville have svært ved at komme ind. Det er vi ikke, så vi kunne bestemt finde på at komme igen.

Pontos forte: Localização e destaco o ótimo atendimento dos funcionários.
Pontos fracos: Quarto pequeno, banheiro mínimo (só cabe uma pessoa dentro), necessitando de reforma geral, além disso o preço é incompatível com este baixo conforto.
Estive na mesma viagem num hotel próximo, com valor médio de diária menor, com um quarto que era o dobro do tamanho, o banheiro era o triplo do tamanho.
Foi a primeira vez que me pareceu que as avaliações do expedia não correspondiam a realidade.

Superbement situé, à taille familiale avec un personnel très attentionné, une ambiance et déco fin XIX eme agréable pour ceux qui la recherchent, mais un \"rafraîchissement\" serait cependant nécessaire; la literie est plutôt \"mollassonne\", et surtout le tac-tac-tac des tuyaux de chauffage associé aux fétards du night club d'en face vous feront apprécier des nuits en \"morse\" : par bribes.. et çà c'est dommage.
