Wonderful old hotel which has been maintained to a very high standard. Staff superb- friendly, helpful and attentive. The manager is a great ambassador for the hotel - a really nice person.
This was our 8th time at the hotel and we will be returning.

An amazing hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast with fizz was a touch above the norm. Our room was superb and huge, albeit the floorboards did creak a bit. I would definitely want to return to this hotel if we were to go back to Vienna.

The boutique hotel is perfect. It has the amenities of a 5 star hotel. Quite, clean, all the extra amenities provided i.e. bathrobe, slippers, all amenities including a sewing kit. Front desk is so friendly. Hotel so clean. Thank you housekeeping. We have traveled worldwide and I will recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Vienna. Location is perfect. Right in the city centre & yet very quite.

This hotel provided us with a wonderful lodging place for a first visit to Vienna over a relaxing six day stay. Its location could not be better... near to all major attractions by walk or by public transit. Especially convenient if you are attending a concert at the Musikverein (Vienna Philharmonic) or performance at the Vienna Opera. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Many nearby restaurant options. The room was well kept and decorated beautifully in wood paneling, with a historical feel.

Wonderful Hotel ideally situated within the Ringstrasse with great shopping and restaurants close by. Also within easy walking distance to most of the major attractions in Vienna i.e. Sisi Museum, Spanish Riding School, Opera, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the National Museum. Very accommodating staff, great breakfast and large and very comfortable rooms. Would definitely look forward to staying there the next visit to Vienna.

Great hotel and a superb convenient location

This is an excellent boutique hotel. It is small with around 40 rooms. Each room is decorated and furnished in traditional Austrian style. Nice lobby with a couple of chandeliers, one little water feature, sitting room and BF area on the ground level. There is an elevator. BF was great, very cosy, nicely decorated with an ample selection of breads, pasteries, meats, cold shrimp, caviar, cheeses and fruits. Location cannot be better - between St Stephen’s Cathedral and State Opera House, two blocks off Karntner Strasse, an upscale busy street with shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel.

There was a little construction in front of the property; however, the hotel was nice and breakfast was good. We liked the extras such as the laundry basket and pillow spray. The location is excellent. We would love to stay here again.

This hotel is in a building which was formerly a palace. It is centrally situated, 3 minutes walking distance to the city square, 4 minutes walking distance to the Burggarten Park where you can see the biggest monument dedicated to Mozart. Another 2 minutes walk across the the road is the Eschenbach palace where we saw an outstanding music concert, featuring compositions of Mozart and Strauss.

We had a room with multiple windows onto some kind of inner space/roof. I could see construction material there, so I asked at reception what was going on. I was assured that there was some work going on at another level and that nothing would start until 9am. The next morning I heard lound banging aroung 7am, went to the window and came face to face with a worker. Reception continued to tell me lies, like they would just be loading some material through the hall way windows and then would stop the noise, but that was not true. When we went downstairs for breakfast, we were surprised at how minimal the offerings were, especially for us as we don't eat meat. So we asked for scrambled eggs and were given the most overcooked eggs we have ever had. After we abandoned ship and went to another hotel for our remaining 2 nights in Vienna (BTW, a much nicer hotel with excellent breakfast offerings and a very attentive reception), we returned to the Schlosshotel and found the entire reception area covered with drop cloths as they worked on electrical in the ceiling. In other words, the entire hotel was involved in construction, and we were being charged normal prices for a less than normal experience. There were no apologies. Just an awful experience, but the good news was that leaving there led us to a superior hotel experience for the same price or less.

Very clean room & pleasant, helpful staff. Nice touches with free sweets, fruit, coffee in reception area. However, room & decor throughout the hotel is extremely dated. Tired bathroom, coloured towels & bed linen (not white). Due to being in a narrow side street, hardly any natural daylight. Overpriced.

Dear Expedia Customer Support,

My wife and I, senior citizens aged 71 and 77 and both in poor health, recently booked a 7-night stay through Expedia at Schlosshotel Römischer Kaiser in Vienna. Due to our medical conditions, we carefully choose hotels that meet essential requirements: central location, a working air conditioner, and elevator access.

Regrettably, our stay was extremely disappointing and physically distressing due to the hotel's failure to provide a basic amenity—functional air conditioning—for five out of seven nights.

The issue:
Upon arrival, we were informed the air conditioning was not working but were assured it would be fixed the next day. That promise was repeated daily. Eventually, we learned from front desk staff that the hotel had scheduled a complete A/C system replacement, which had been planned well in advance. We were never informed of this before or at the time of booking.

We tried to contact the hotel manager to express our concern, but he was out of the country. His only response, relayed through the receptionist, was to suggest we move to another hotel. This was not a realistic solution, as every nearby hotel was fully booked.

Our suffering:
Despite efforts by the receptionists (particularly Xiaoxi Wang, who was kind and professional throughout), the conditions in the room remained unbearable. Loved absolutely everything about this hotel! Warm, cozy, and welcoming (delicious coffee available 24/7 in the lobby), this hotel made us feel like we were staying with old friends with very good taste who'd lived there since the 19th C.. Charming rooms that were amazingly quiet, with windows opening onto a quaint street that's literally right around the corner from all that the Alte Stadt has to offer. Just perfect!

Very disappointing first impression upon arrival.
Having booked a Queen room we were initially provided with a twin room - even though the room was booked 3mths in advance.
We were informed that Queen rooms were unavailable - why sell the choice then ?
Another room was offered to us, which we accepted as being the least bad option, but it was only two single beds together, with a sheet covering both beds, and two single duvets - still not a bed for 2 people to sleep in together...
Room was too hot, and thermostat on wall was so old that the number identification on the dial had worn away. We had to open windows (0 degrees Celsius outside) to regulate the room temperature.
Very good location for the opera house/cathedral and shopping area.

Don’t stay in room 11. It sounded like we were staying in a wind tunnel. The room wasn’t great, they gave us one bath towel and one hand towel for two guests. I will say the breakfast was pretty good. They weren’t going to offer you anything extra unless you asked though. I think you could find a better hotel in Vienna for the price.

We had a short but sweet stay during an overnight layover in Vienna. The staff were so kind to help us arrange a driver from the airport, stayed up a little later than usual so we could do our late check-in, and were super kind in person as well as over email (prior to our stay). They even left a little chocolate on each pillow, and we really liked the split comforters! The room did have a very faint smell of smoke, which I'm sure is near impossible to completely remove. It didn't bother us, but just a heads up for someone who be sensitive to smells.

It's in a great location and right down the street from a restaurant (1516) that served great food and drinks until 1 am! Highly recommend this hotel!

This is a very convenient location. It is walkable to the Opera House, Hofburg Palace, and shopping areas. The breakfast is a small area, but it has good food options and great vibe with Mozart playing in the background. There is no AC in the room as is standard in Vienna, so we slept with the window open. There was some construction and loud people in the alley in the middle of the night. The front desk was not very knowledgeable about Vienna or helpful. We had to confirm multiple times with the front desk about our airport transfer.

This hotel is located in an excellent location. Very close to many restaurants and shopping. We walked to lots of sights. They should not advertise AC. The room had one small Ac that barely had any cool air coming out. It was a very difficult to sleep even with 2 fans. It was about 28c and the room brought no relief from the heat. I can’t imagine being in this hotel when it’s above 30c like it has been lately

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in a deluxe room. The hotel is situated in an excellent location to get to al popular attractions. It is very central but in a quiet cobbled authentic side street. The breakfast is very good with a lot of choice and as much as you want to eat. It is very clean but needs updating. It is in traditional style but shows its age. Our shower was from the bath taps although strong enough. Both plugs do not fit properly n the sick and bath. The bed is comfy.
**Our main issue has been the air con. It just has not been adequate for the hot temperatures. We have not slept at all. Being in the room hasn’t been pleasant any time of the day but unbearable at night. When we asked we were told that there was nothing that could be done and we were offered a fan which did very little**.
Sadly because of the air con we would not recommend.

Do not stay here in the summer! The property does NOT have air conditioning! They say they do, but we had it set to the lowest temp and highest output and it was barely cool and you could only feel it blowing if you put your hand right on it. It was 90F/32C outside and much hotter inside. We couldn't spend any down time during the day in our room. We couldn't sleep at night.

Upon bringing this up to the lady at the front desk, we were given a small fan that didn't help that much. We were given an excuse of the AC system being 30yrs old. This isn't a cheap hotel - use the money to upgrade your AC, it's not meant to work for 30yrs! Or stop misleading people and don't write that you have Air Conditioning when you don't!

When we asked to get a refund/discount, we were told the manager will be in in half an hour. However, no phone call came, no one tried to contact us that day or the next. When asked again, we were told he is now on vacation.

Also, they charge 28eur per person for breakfast, which is ridiculous. You can eat way way cheaper at most cafés right outside the front door. Oh, and it's just as hot in the breakfast area as the rest of the hotel.

The room was small, barely space to open our suitcase. Every drawer in the room is only 3-4 inches deep- so you can't put your clothes in them.

Room temp was melting chocolate. Took everything out of the minibar and used the fridge to keep our food cool. That fridge was never cold either, just cool.

This is a great property with a central location but in a quiet street. The hotel is very clean with excellent customer service. The staff is very professional and friendly. The only concern we had in our room was that the shower floor gets very slippery while showering since the shower tub only has half a door that blocks the water, so if you have small kids or the elderly need to be careful.
Lots of restaurant options near buy, stores, shopping and walkable to many main attractions.
We had a great time in Vienna and definitely would stay in this hotel if we visited Vienna again!

The Schlosshotel is in an excellent location in the Inner Stadt area and very walkable to key monuments, shopping, restaurants, etc. The hotel staff are friendly with 24hr desk service. The facility and rooms have all amenities needed; coffee, water and treats in the lobby and espresso machine in the rooms. Overall, the hotel has classic Viennese styling which is nice, but could use some minor updates to rooms to improve rating.

She does not answer questions, left group because she went to buy extra ticket to the person that comes with her. All English speakers were confused where we meet . Close to the city centre, easy access to the subway station. Staffs are friendly, interior decoration is great. One thing I didn’t like was that there was no heater in the room and the building turned off the heater, and there was no electric heater in half of our stay. I hope the hotel could improve this.
