The world meets up at Zurich Youth Hostel. A versatile place with the right offer for every guest, whether backpackers, families or groups.

On the site where a school cabin served as a hostel in 1936, there now stands a spacious new-build featuring modern infrastructure, varied cuisine, a cosy bar and a 24-hour reception. Just a stone's throw from the lake shore, it's the perfect place from which to start chilled afternoons on the lake, a discovery tour of the exciting city of Zurich, or a thrilling visit to the zoo.

Enjoy the hostel's quiet yet well-connected location, its sunny inner courtyard and the bright rooms, or book a seminar room for your banquet, meeting or training session. It's practical: from Wollishofen station, there is also a direct rail connection to the airport.


Located in Zürich (Zürich Center), Youth Hostel Zurich is within a 10-minute drive of Bahnhofstrasse and Lindt & Sprüngli Chocolateria. This hostel is 3.3 mi (5.3 km) from Letzigrund Stadium and 3.1 mi (5 km) from Swiss National Museum.

Al ser un hospedaje en Zurich y tipo hostal, es un precio razonable a lo excesivamente cara qué es la ciudad.
Las habitaciones para 4 personas son muy pequeñas, quizá alguna más amplia seria ideal.
Cumple con su relación al costo, no me desagrado.
Buen menú de desayuno, excelente atención del personal, incluso la opción de comidas que ofrecen también es buena.
Quiza lo malo sería la ubicación. Esta un poco alejado de los puntos de interés.
Nada que caminando, transporte público y uber no solucione pero tomar en cuenta un extra de dinero porque no será nada barato.

A lovely stay for one night! Lots of families & big communal areas with a nice patio & bar. It was a little hot & there were no privacy curtains. Communal bathroom/shower was clean & it was nice to have a sink in the room for a quick clean up. It was also nice to use your card as your key for a locker. A bit of a walk up hill from the train/bus station, but still very accessible.

Very convenient location next to a bus stop. Bathrooms were not very clean, but serviceable. Only two toilets for our floor which created a bit of an issue at times. No towels were provided.

Book this hostel! No need to look for any others

This is probably one if not THE best hostel I've stayed in so far during my Europe trip. Breakfast is amazing, room is spacious, bathrooms are clean (in fact the cleaning lemon-y soap they use can be overpowering to smell but it dissipates after a while). Staff is welcoming and helpful. A bit far from city center so you need to walk far or take the tram but it's very close to grocery stores and supermarkets. It's amazing. Love this hostel!

There is compromise on rate over comfort.

I may not be the best person for this review as this is my 2nd Hostel stay in 9 years.

Seeing the weather is cold,heating was insufficient, the floor were bare no carpeting or insulation on top of that(thiss might be due to rarity hostel booking ) there were no slipper.

Shower was surprisingly good,again I am not sure if there multiple people living at this room they might having charging issues in terms of comforts rather than actual functionality.

Breakfast was surprisingly excellent for Hostel but then when it comes to amenities the hot water takes forever to boil,toasteris at the end of buffet after you have already picked up toast and jammed as there were no extra utensils to keep jam separate to use after toasting.If I have ordered a single room for single occupant I would rather have double bed rather than single bed else it becomes sleeps for two with comfort and convenience compromised.

Staff were lovely,helpful and understanding but my understanding is management are being stingy because my understanding of Swiss is are they are very punctual and hate time wasting ,but due to equipment being very slow to use while being shared across multiple hostelier I would invest on the basic and faster amenities that enhances
every customer indirect interaction with the hoshel.

My visit didn't need that extra spending for hotel,but all things considered would definitely pay upto extra 30-50 CHF if good night sleep if your top priority else good value for money.

Only there for one night but staff was so kind and friendly,I’m a 18 y/o girl and when they realised I was booked in a mixed room with only one guy they changed it FOR me, I didn’t even have to ask! 15 min tram ride from the main part of Zurich, great value for money!

Rooms were small, but having a separate area for lockers and a sink was helpful.
The WiFi was patchy in some areas.
It is a bit out of town, but there are different bus and tram options nearby.

The facilities and breakfast were great and staff and was lovely. They had a storage room for luggage when I checked in early that was nice. Only issue was getting from the train to the hostel with luggage. There's a target large hill you have to walk up. Other than that it was a great stay!

I have a couple things to say about my stay at Youth Hostel Zurich. Overall was a good experience, but a couple things a didn’t like much, like:

- in the showers there’s no ventilation. It’s already a small space, would be good to have a bit of ventilation. Also, no mat on the floor or given. A bit disgusting to use your own towel that by the way you have to pay for it.
- The breakfast provided is excellent, but I was a bit annoyed that in order for me to have coffee I would have to pay. Usually, at hostels they always have complimentary coffee and tea.

But I have to say that the place is convenient, close to the station, clean, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Clean but rather expensive for what it is.

Clean with a reasonable infrastructure. Expensive for what it is, modern hotel concepts have a better price / offering relation than the Youth Hostel Zurich. The youth hostel includes breakfast but given current times there was no buffet, the offered breakfast was not that great, in particular the bread. Under normal circumstances (no corona) a good place to meet people.

Needs a bit more improvement

Breakfast was a great addition to the hostel. Stayed in four room dorm and the showers and bathroom are outside the rooms. Downside is that lockers have to use coins to utilize in room which seems to defeat the purpose of having lockers in room. Also the location is inconvenient for walking and makes it difficult to travel

Making your bed after the check in is an unnecessary workload especially after a tiring plane travel. Also the 2 frank (not even euros) deposit is a weird concern for the tourists. It is very hard to find for the whose only pay with visa. Except for those the staff was too good with good intend, hostel is walkable distance to metro station and clean.

When you are paying that much for a hostel, it would be nice to not have to make your bed when you turn up, just a pet peeve of mine after being spoilt at much cheaper hostels around Europe. Otherwise it's fine, bathrooms are not ensuites, breakfast is included, lockers are coin operated (francs)

Everything was good for staying one night ! The staffs are friendly and welcoming me when check-in. The facilities including toilets , rooms and the kitchen are well kept. 15 minutes ride from Zürich hbf by bus or tram but worth of staying as the surroundings are quite relaxing. Good place to stay in Zurich

Very clean, good breakfast, and friendly staff - Silvana was especially amazing! It was a bit of a walk from the train station but the bus stop was reasonably close.
