Lovely hotel with fantastic staff. Rooms are very spacious with modern bathrooms. Breakfast is slightly limited but for us it was more than satisfactory. Internet access was free and very reliable. Underground parking at a very fair price. All in all a little gem which was perfect for our needs as a family. Kudos to the staff. We will definitely return.

The hotel itself is well staffed, but can be tricky to locate in the first instance without GPS. Perfect for access to the Parc de la Tete D'or, but about a 20 minute residential walk to the edge of the city to access public transport.
Our room had what it needed, but was a little likited - no fridge, dated decor. Ultimately a decent, fairly priced base for days full of off-sjte activity.

This is a very pleasant hotel, with sizeable rooms, a very comfortable bed, great shower, and big, openable windows, in a friendly, pleasantly diverse neighborhood with a lot of small ethnic restaurants, as well as a grocery store and drugstore, on the plaza next to the hotel. It's 15-20minute walk through a lovely park to the convention center. The staff were very helpful. It's ideal for visitors with meetings in the conference center, if you want something more local feeling than the big chain hotels in the conference center. I really enjoyed my stay.

A recent two night stay. Excellent location near to the Tête d’Or park. Local boulangerie and small supermarket as well as some limited free parking, although hotel does offer parking at a charge. Very clean throughout with helpful friendly staff. Easy walk to tramline and various bus routes connecting to train stations and the centre of Lyon. Restaurants also within a short walk. Rooms very clean, superior rooms recently renovated to a good standard, comfortable beds, adjustable heating and excellent showers. Only minus points - no hot drink amenities in room, no refrigerator in room. Cold drink machines available. Breakfast available at an extra charge. Very happy to stay here again and would happily recommend.

Overall a good stay-- when I first arrived I hadn't realized the neighborhood would be this way, I was staying there for work, there isnt' much going on in the area except that it is very close to parc tete d'or which is huge and beautiful (including gardens and zoo). not much in the way of restaurants, groceries, etc. The hotel itself was under a lot of renovation, they were drilling the wall next to our room while my baby was napping in late morning, and they said they wouldn't stop. But the staff at front desk and restaurant were very kind and helpful and that made up for a lot.

It was a good experience overall as the staff was very friendly and the services was on point always. Cleaners always was doing their job properly, as my room was always clean and the bed sheets was changed everyday. Bathroom was always clean and the reception people was friendly trying to be as helpfull as possible. Overall i fully enjoyed my stayed.

Do not waste your money!
This hotel was photographed to be updated, it wasn’t; carpet so nasty I would not walk on it barefoot and the AC did not work. When we asked about plans to fix it, we were told that’s just the way it was. The area where it is located is questionable... we were told by staff to walk through the nearby park (after walking through a run down, graffitied, & desolate labyrinth of a strip mall), and local kids threw a firecracker at us! Horrible hotel. We stayed one of two booked nights.

First, a disclaimer, Lyon was having a terrible heat wave and the little air conditioning was having a really hard time keeping up Add to that the renovation construction noises and this was not a great place for naps and sleeping. This hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, a few blocks from busier places. Some of the buildings near the hotel are in disrepair, but we never felt unsafe walking around. The bus and tram run very close and the metro and train stations are walkable distance. we walked to Tête d’or park most days or took public transportation to get to the tourist attractions. Staff was friendly.

This is a well-designed hotel. I like the considerate details of the facilities, which is more convenient than most hotels. The cleanses is also satisfying. However, I was quite shocked by the staff’s attitude towards me when I reported that a group of people were making unbelievable noise under my window at 00:30 am. They had played loud music for 20 minutes before I came to the reception. The staff at the reception said in a rude voice that it was nothing about the hotel’s business. He refused to get out and deal with the situation. I agreed and suggested he call the police. But he was still reluctant and was doubtful about my complaint. He had an expression looking as if I was too annoying to look at. But I was speaking in a polite voice. I didn’t know what I could do to be more friendly. This was my first trip to France. And staff in all other hotels were friendly and at least polite! After ten minutes the hotel offered me another room. Had to say that they still responded to the problem instead of being blind. But I felt offended and not a bit welcomed. Too disappointed! Leave strains on the delightful first impression.

Solid 3* hotel, close to Lyon park
I went to Lyon for a conference at the Centre de Congres, this hotel was close by (15-20min walk). Similar distance to the town centre. There is a large park and zoo only a few minutes away. The room was basic but comfortable. Staff were friendly. Breakfast options were good. The air conditioning did not appear to be working in my room, but fortunately this was in April and not too hot, so I didn't complain.

This 1979 hotel needs a complete refurbish. The sad, dorm like room decor is not helped by the shabby, and dirty, wall to wall carpeting. So so bed, drab decor and window looking onto ugly rooftop of the congress centre makes dor a depressing environment.

The hotel room was old, but clean and relatively spacious. The alarm clock/radio was particularly old-fashioned (see photos) and it was minimally appointed, but there was a small refrigerator in the room. The bathroom was more recently remodeled and very nice. Staff was friendly and the hotel bar organized cocktail nights. I didn't try the breakfast buffet, because there is a bakery and grocery store next door to the hotel.

Our group of 8 booked 3 rooms at the Hotel des Congres recently and had a nice time in Lyon. The hotel is conveniently located near the T1 tram. The staff were quite helpful during our stay, providing recommendations for restaurants and making reservations. A change of dates for the stay, made a week or so before arrival, was accommodated without problem. Rooms were clean and comfortable, if a little dated.

We were in Lyon for Euro-2016 and this hotel had the best value for money ratio for us. It is far from most attractions (except the park), and in a residential area. I'd recommend for tourist wishing to see Lyon to stay closer to the centre

The Hotel des Congres was great value for money for the four of us who stayed there during our Euro 2016 visit. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, although they were not made up one day of the four we stayed, but this was probably because we left the rooms later that day. Breakfast was more than adequate particularly the meat choices- but I wouldn't recommend the egg boiler - even 10 minutes couldn't produce a decent soft boiled egg!
Nearby offers several lunchtime restaurants and we would heartily recommend the couscous place for a filling meal. Although a little out of the centre of Lyon, both trams and buses lead to the metro, or it is about a 10 minute walk. From there it is only a few stops from the main part of town. And the free botanical gardens and zoo are also only about 10 minutes away.
Overall the hotel was a great choice enjoyed by all four of us.

Had a great stay at Hotel Des Congres while visiting for Euro 2016.
The hotel was extremely clean and was in a nice quiet and safe area not far from the nearest metro stop.
The hotel staff were all extremely friendly and all spoke good English.
The bathroom was very nice although the shower head points out towards the open so you will need to hold this to avoid water leaving the shower area.
Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights over the weekend to watch the Rugby Champions Cup, the Hotel is in a very urban area, high rise flats but lots of green areas. The tramway (Le Tonkin) is located a short walk out of the rear of the hotel, from here it is a 1.5 Euro ride into the main railway station/shopping area. The rooms are quite large with plenty of hanging and storage space.
The hotel staff are very helpful,and were more than helpful with information about things to visit or how to get there. The Hotel manager Jerome spoke fantastic English and was always a great help.
We opted to catch the Rhone Express from the airport which was 15 euros each, this dropped us at the railway station where it was a short tram ride to the hotel. The cost of a taxi is about 50-60 euros.
Most of the shops don't open on a Sunday but there are lots of cafe's and restaurants open, beware you'll have to eat out as the hotel bar and restaurant are shut in the evening.

The hotel is in a residential area near the University Claude Beranard, so it is very convenient for that. For everything else, there is a metro station 10 mins walk away. The rooms were clean and large, but the hotel is maybe a bit past its best. The staff were great. Breakfast was OK.

We had 6 excellent nights at Hotel Des Congres and were impressed by the friendly,efficient service received from all the staff we met. In particular,we would mention Pierre at reception and the hotel manager who was always attentive and smiling.

The hotel on arrival looks seedy with weeds and dirty concrete everywhere. On entry the staff are very helpful and the place is clean, tidy if a little old. Jerome (the hotel manager) was terrific and went out of his way to assist with places to go, how to get there and he speaks fantastic English.

It is a bit of a walk but after getting off the train at Part Dieu station, I walked to the hotel in about half an hour and found it without difficulty.The hotel is nothing fancy but everything important to me worked out just right.... the bed was comfortable, the location was superb, the room was relatively quiet (with exception of kids on a motorcycle outside out window in the back alley one day), everything was clean, the breakfast was great, the internet was fast and most of all, the staff was super pleasant and helpful.

Don't be put off by the outside view of this hotel when you arrive - it is in an area with several concrete high rise blocks and walkways but it has spacious comfortable rooms with comfortable beds and clean, well maintained bathrooms. Towels and bed linen were changed every day of my 4 night stay and there were complementary toiletries (also replenished daily) and a hair dryer. The WIFI worked well. We did not opt for breakfast as it was 15 euros each and there was a very good boulangerie/cafe right outside the hotel serving coffee and the full range of croissants etc. for about 4 euros each, so a no-brainer. There was also a small supermarket very close by for water/snacks etc.

Rugby Club Group booking
We used this hotel for a Group booking for a Rugby club trip. For this very reason it was in the perfect location, 600m into the city Metro station. The C2 tram is right outside to hop onto, and the beautiful park is just a road crossing and your there. The Neighbourhood gave it a very poor mark and the outside of the hotel looked very tired but do not judge the book by its cover. Staff very nice and room did its job. Competent hotel if you have business in the area
Used this hotel again because I had business nearby and took advantage to this to bring my wife and enjoy dinner at a nearby restaurant that we knew. It was somewhat better than we remembered in terms of internal decor. Room was fine but in spite of turning the thermostat right down it was somewhat too hot overnight. The Hotel has steps up to Reception, and many steps between the garage and the hotel. No problem for us - yet.

The location is excellent if you are in Lyon to attend a conference at the conference center Espace Tete d'Or. The conference center is just a few minutes away by walk. The people at reception were very helpful in solving the problem we had with a rental car. We really appreciated their help.

We stayed in room #602 that had a double outside door for quietness and it definitely was quiet. There was one luggage rack, a desk, and a small table with two chairs. There is a safe in the closet. The bathroom had a glass door, a separate toilet area, and a tub/shower. The hotel charges for parking in their secure garage. A breakfast of pastries and juice and coffee/tea/chocolate was provided with the room. The area was ok but on Sunday night when we stayed here, there was no place to eat close-by because everything was closed that was close. The room did not provide the clock radio, refrigerator, or coffee/tea maker, or bidet as stated in our reservation. When we requested these items, they replied they did not have them. That was disappointing.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is 3mn away from the big city park Parc de la Tete d'Or; great for jogging, zoo visit, tropical greenhouse etc. Links with Lyon centre are very convenient and quick. Rooms are spacious and beds very comfy

Great for a stop over
We stopped here on our way back from south France back to Calais and it was a great base to explore Lyon, go out for a meal and stay over night refreshed ready for the next stage of the drive. Helpful reception staff with good English, nice quite rooms and secure parking. Good value for money.

All of the staff I interacted with went above and beyond. Dominique in the dining room and the brunette German lady at the front desk both went out of their way to make my stay comfortable.
That being said, they have European half showers where the tub is only partially enclosed and you have to hold the shower wand in your hand, so if I went back to Lyon I would stay someplace with a real shower instead.

The hotel staff were very friendly, not just one of them, but everyone we dealt with (around 4 hotel staff we met during out stay). i.e. provide phone for us to make phone calls before our room ready, even help us to dial the phone number, help us to interpret French. We know zero French. They also provide bandage to my husband when he accidently cut his finger. It is a little tricky to find the front door of the hotel when taking the bus or Tram to the hotel, need to ring the door bell on the side door to get in, otherwise it would be too far to walk around to the front, we never get in from the front. It is pretty clean and well kept hotel. The door lock is very old fashion, still using traditional key. Overall, it is a nice clean place to sleep. If have time, the park at next door is huge and beautiful, too bad we didn't have time to walk through the whole park.

Decent hotel at a price which was very good compared to others. When I first got off the tram I thought I was in an inner city area with all the high rise flats but actually over the two days I was the area was fine and is very close to the huge park de tete d'or, and for those that don't mind a 15 minute walk can get to shops and restaurants.

For some reason, the hotel staff offers me to pay my bills in a different currency than that I order in. I say firmly, both at check-in and check-out: \"I wish to pay my bill in EUR, at the rate I have booked my room.\". Yet the staff on two occasions produces bills in the different currency, and assures me, upon complaint, that indeed, the room would not be paid in the foreign currency with a very poor exchange rate as written on the bill, but in the original EUR amount. Arriving home, upon studying my account, it became clear to me that the assurances I received from this hotel were incorrect.
