Good location, easily accessible by metro. Rooms were super clean, bathroom and toilet included.
The beds were confortable (more than in other hostels located in the center and that are more expensive).
I didn’t try the breakfast but the bar area was nice.
The place felt pretty secured as well.
There were a few school groups in the hostel while I was there. Something to be aware of, but it didn’t bother me.
I would definitely go back !

The hostel itself was pretty good, although not having at least a fridge and microwave is very inconvenient for travelers. The overall cleanliness was good but many of the people in the mixed dorm were genuinely so disrespectful of the cleanliness of common spaces (someone even left their dental flosser on my bed one day) that I think it would be difficult for any staff to keep up. If you’re a female traveler, I would recommend getting the female only dorm. The mixed dorm was a bit of a nightmare for me here. The location is good for metro use and there is a grocery and some restaurants nearby that are pretty good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I had a very concerning experience at this hostel. One of the guests assigned to my dorm room appeared to be using the space as long-term shelter rather than as a traveler, and the room had a strong, unpleasant smell. This person also kept a knife next to their bed, which made me feel unsafe.
I believe the property needs stronger guest screening and safety checks to ensure a secure environment for travelers.

This hostel was very aesthetically pleasing — the rooms were spotless and well-organized, and the showers were equally clean. However, I was disappointed by the amenities, especially considering the higher prices. There was no self-serve guest kitchen, which I’ve come to expect from hostels, as almost all I’ve stayed in provided one. Overall, everything felt a bit overpriced, and the setup didn’t offer much flexibility for guests to prepare their own meals. While the space itself was lovely, the value for money just wasn’t there for me.

They checked me into a pre-occupied room with stuff in the locker, used beddings and extremely smelly washrooms. I got moved into a different room after I talked to the staff. Staff is friendly and helpful.
My room’s locker was in the corner that I could not open it up all the way as it would hit the wall. Not very functional and extremely noisy to use.
The breakfast buffet is not really a full buffet as they would only let you order the main breakfast dish once, which is also to pick one option out of 4/5.

The information on this property was not clear. You have to fix the bed when you get there. I mean roll out the bed and put the bedding on it. The bathroom was really nasty and maintenence was call to clean it. A C was not working. There was no cold water on the shower. The environment around the hostel was Unsafe. My husband was asulted by a homeless

Construction outside and singing under my window until 2, homeless people and pandhandlers close, a shower that didn’t seal water in so it flooded the floor, poor hallway lighting, cleaner who went into my room before checkout without knocking. It was a cute room and clean enough but I wouldn’t stay in this area again. If you are a student with a group it would be fine but not for the solo traveller.

My friends and I, stayed at both Berlin and Paris Generator within the same week.
Paris location was the quite dirty, the sheets were not very well cleaned and the whole room was caked in dust. Both the bunks at the Paris and Berlin location had gum stuck to it and the walls. All the shower heads were broken in the women’s bathrooms and the temperature was barely even lukewarm. We also noticed mold in the showers. There was chairs and a bench in the room all were broken and could not be used. The Berlin location was a bit cleaner than Paris and the bathrooms provided what needed be, although didn’t have hooks to hang towels on. For the amount of money you have to pay for amenities at both locations, it seems as if all the money goes into keeping the bar open and not the uncleanliness of the place. The cleaners only came to change bedsheets did not even clean the floor or wipe down any surfaces. The previous person that had just checked out of our dorm had left some trash in the room. we expected the cleaners to take it, to our surprise we came back and the trash was still there. The whole hostel honestly feels like a summer camp for tweens/ teenagers. In both locations there were constant teenagers running around being rude and screaming during night hours. Staying at a hostel you expect there to be adults. If you are not fond of tweens/ teenagers I do not recommend this place.

We stayed here for five nights. We tried to get the hair dryer but it was always unavailable. The front desk told us that we need to wait til someone return it. We weren’t able to get the hair dryer at all during our stay. I think the property should prepare enough hair dryer in each room.

Stayed here in June 2025 with my son. There are hundreds of dead bugs inside the light fixture (picture included). The window is paper thin and you can hear all the noise from outside. Bring your own pillows and blankets they don’t provide much. The hotel itself is located in a lower income area, lots of young people and had the air of a party place, not the in did place to bring. Your family. No room cleaning. This is a 1.5 star hotel, really the bare minimum provided. The place seems more like a hostel than a hotel. Not a good place.

elevators not working- understandable. but they closed a stairwell and only told you at the bottom, so you had to walk back up to exit. this can’t be safe for fire hazard reasons. €7.50 to rent a towel.. that should not be the case. the rooftop was also closed for a private event which was a main reason why I booked

Good suburb location in terms like London allow about 45 mins to get to most central attractions. Metropolitan metro line. Longer to Montmatre. Come up from station and look into the roundabout and you’ll see Generator curved to one side with neon letter front signage - approx 100m walk.
There’s a boulangerie patisserie, bistro, pizza takeaway, small supermarket and pharmacy all around the same roundabout as well as 3 bistro restaurants (one is French).
Rooftop was closed throughout the whole 7 days I stayed. Like the last Generator I stayed.
Bed linen is changed every 5 days, but you can ask to swap towels at reception regularly.
Unisex dorms only. Take flip flops as the boys pee and they don’t mop the floors and there are no bath mats/racks to stand on when you step out of showers.
Lifts take a while as it’s a big place and was full of several school groups and many getting drunk.
Massive hostel not far from the Saint Martin canal, modern and safe and rooms are quiet, but for other bunkers of course, so take ear plugs and eye mask as you should for any hostel :).
Bar food until 10:30 in eve and one veggie option.
Vending machines in reception.
Laundry there too.

Getting a good shower here was really hard. The water was either too hot or not hot at all.
Location was good, nice neighborhood and a few meters across from a metro station.
There is an option to buy a 9.50 eur breakfast, but they do not mention the default breakfast menu is included ij the room rate and that the 9.50 price is for an extra toast with scrambled eggs and bacon, a crepe, or a croissant.

Well located but very average stay

A well positioned hotel for exploring the city. Don’t be fooled by online photos, not especially accurate for our room. Beds were uncomfortable with metal bed frame slats that made the mattress slide around.
We asked everyday for some fresh towels but never received any; excuse was either ‘someone will bring some’ or ‘we have run out and are expecting a delivery’.
Food in the restaurant was average but very expensive. Drinks were ridiculously priced!!!

Overall the experience was okay, The staff was eager to help and the hotel location was good. The hotel kitchen had good food options.
We did face issue with the heating of the room that we stayed in. It wasn’t working properly.
The technician tried to fix the issue but I don’t think it worked because the issue persisted. We were to leave early next morning so we didn’t go back to complain for the third time.

Room was laughably not as described. The room booked for a quad was so tight and small, there was barely any room for four people to stand or their suitcases to be opened. The beds were tiny and cracks in the ceiling. When I upgraded the room to an 8 person, in the new room, there was some unusual substance (gross) sprayed all over the curtain.

My room windows could not open to admit fresh air. With up to six sweaty bodies, some drenched in competing cologne fragrances, the room always smelled of animal musk. Not great for those averse or allergic to perfumes. Clean up you air.

Decent hotel. Nothing fancy. But fine. Bit out the way of Paris centre, but metro station just across the road from hotel. Area outside busy, but safe. Shops and restaurants close by. Room was clean enough. Beds quite comfy. Shower quite poor tho. Either freezing cold or roasting hot. Food at hotel okay. Choose hotel as it was a cheaper option for us, get what you pay for. Wouldn’t rush back but would recommend.

For the price, in Paris, it’s well worth any inconvenience. Best part was a good locker room, for a fee.

My biggest complaint is that there is no kitchen for guests. There’s a restaurant on site where you must purchase food, and you’re not allowed to bring your own food into the building unless you eat it in the *smoking courtyard* (even when the restaurant kitchen is closed). There are very few restaurants open late in the neighborhood. I was hungry at 10pm after traveling halfway around the world and was told to sit and eat my take away in a smoky courtyard. Hated it.

Upon arrival the staff were nice and they have an area to leave your luggage if you arrive before check in time. However we had two rooms and they were awful, broken shower doors, broken switches, broken headboards, lights not working, windows don’t shut all the way, super noisy especially if you’re on the front side of the hotel by main road, doesn’t feel safe either as soon as you step outside the doors of the hotel. Staff were nice throughout the stay but the hotel was awful

A primary staff member at the desk, white man with thin brown hair and a beard tried to double charge me for a towel and denied me a room change when the AC broke (yet someone else gave me the room instantly.) He said there weren’t any left which was a lie because the next time I asked a woman gave me a choice of 3 spots. Watch out for him! He was also rude and unhelpful to my friends as well.

I always stay here and enjoy it. The staff are helpful and are very pleasant at all hours of the night. Security is very serious about who enters at various times of the night. This time the bathrooms weren’t cleaned as frequently as they are given that it was the Olympics and I believe they’re beginning to rent to local homeless people which may long term become problematic when it’s a shared dorm space as people horde and become territorial about the shared spaces including the bathroom. I guess generator Paris hasn’t figured out a way around this issue yer.

A fairly stylish hostel but let down in several areas. I've stayed in 2 other Generator hostels and this was the lowest quality of the 3. The area is quite rough, the facilities are a bit worn out or in need of maintenance (e.g. the 1 and only iron was broken), and the Chill Out zone / Mezzanine has been closed and turned into an event space. The rooftop bar is a nice touch though. I'd stay here again but would lower my expectations compared to other Generation hostels.

Nice for a hostel, but overpriced.

All of the services you would expect including towels and luggage cabinets were extra priced.
There were no soaps, shampoos.
The shower gel was empty.
I could not sleep well because there were almost no sound-proof.
Except all of the extra prices, the bed itself and the interior of the hostel was nice.
But, I would rather sleep in a cheap hotel because the price of the hostel itself and other services combined are similar to the price of the cheap hotel.

I chose this property because I stayed here back in 2022 with a tour group. I love that the metro station is literally right there. Easy access. There's a mini market right next door and cafe/restaurant. The staff was very friendly. Theres a bar and music inside the hotel. Unfortunately, the roof top was closed. We stayed in a 10 bed room as we planned to only sleep at night we didn't really care about space. The room had 2 showers and 2 sinks which was awesome. We unfortunately had 2 roomates who legit stank like underarm sweat and feet. The room stank like that the entire stay.

Bit far out but is metro very close. Bar and karaoke to socialise. However no kitchen/common area if you want to have own food or chill. Front desk staff super helpful but security not friendly. Door keys stop working for multiple people in room. Area around does not feel too safe at night but have seen police walking around. Would be nice to have curtains on beds as other rooms can see in and were shining lights in and yelling through windows

Everything was perfect, except that we were not allowed to visit the Rooftop because we did Not have a reservation. Nobody ever told us or was written anywhere that a reservation was needed. It was our Last Night and one of the high Point of the hotel could Not be Seen. Frustrating!
