The hotel experience overall was okay, but there were a few factors that would make me question another stay at this location. Upon checking in I discovered that I had to pay to park my car and was given two choices: pay a lower fee and park myself or pay a higher rate and have the valet handle it. There was no issue finding a space to park so it wasn't an issue, but I'm already paying you for the stay, no need to gouge me there. When I got to my room the key cards did not work and someone from maintenance had to let me in. I was told the cards were bad and should get them replaced. I got new cards and then when I attempted to enter the room again, the new keys also did not work. Maintenance was called again and this time they had to disassemble the locking mechanism to uncover the issue which turned out to be an internal switch in the wrong position.
May I suggest that housekeeping or maintenance test all locks regularly if that isn't already a thing.
Finally, the breakfast buffet at $20 per person was a little much and once was enough, especially since my kid was basically charged $20 for a bagel and a few slices of bacon. The next morning we went elsewhere for breakfast.
One last minor nitpick was the fact that there was only one small bar of soap in the bathroom. Two would've been ideal, one for the shower, one for the sink, but again we made it work.

Be aware that even if Expedia says you booked a room with a river view, doesn’t mean that when you get there you will get that room. I paid for a river view and the hotel said they didn’t have that available on their end. So I did not get that room.

I wanted to share my disappointment regarding my recent stay at Doubletree Hilton Jacksonville Riverfront and will include all photos at the end.

I originally booked this hotel because I have fond memories of staying here with my family years ago when it operated as the Crowne Plaza. On the drive to the hotel, I was telling my wife how excited I was to show her a place that I remembered so positively.

Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like I remembered. When we arrived, our first room was in very poor condition. The baseboards were covered in dust, the carpet was sticky and stained, and the air conditioning unit was making an extremely loud noise. I went to the front desk, and the staff apologized and moved us to another room.

While the air conditioner in the second room was quieter, the overall cleanliness was just as disappointing. The room appeared neglected and did not meet the standards I would expect from a DoubleTree property.

What made this especially upsetting was hearing my wife say later that evening, “We haven’t stayed at a hotel this bad in a while.” That comment really hit me because I was the one who chose this hotel, hoping to share a positive experience and some good memories with her.

I appreciate that the staff attempted to address the issue by moving us, but the condition of both rooms left us very disappointed.

After not feeling comfortable to even sleep there for the night, we had to move hotels at midnight.

The tv service was down the 2 days we were there. So no tv. Neighbors were having a freak fest, glad my kids were not with me. Woke up at 6am with screaming and fighting outside. Cops on scene to break that up.

This hotel needs a complete renovation, and fast. I’ve stayed here in the past and it has gotten much worse than it was before. The paint is peeling off the walls in the hallways, the carpet is disgusting and our shower wouldn’t drain so the water stayed in there making the tub have a ring and nasty. Whomever put the shower doors on didn’t think clearly about how they were installed so you have to get in the shower to turn it on because it only slides one way and that’s the only way to actually turn the shower on. The ladies at the front put on a good show of nice but they had their own set of attitudes. For the amount of money you pay and charges they add on, this place should be too priority for a makeover.

My room was very small, and everything felt outdated. I requested a refrigerator, but the one provided was dirty and rusty. The carpet throughout the room needs to be replaced, and the bathroom lighting was poor and inadequate.

Overall, the hotel is in need of a major facelift, and the rooms should be upgraded and modernized. The only positive aspect of my stay was the location—the hotel is right on the water and offers nice views.

Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not stay at this hotel again.

I arrived at approximately 9 PM with my young daughter after a long trip and was informed that a $100 deposit was required on a card only. I had $80 available on my card and offered to pay the remaining $20 the following morning. I also offered cash, but every solution was refused. My husband respectfully called the front desk to help find a solution, and instead of assisting us, the staff member threatened to call the police. The lack of professionalism and willingness to help was extremely disappointing. After finally checking in, I discovered multiple issues with the room. The bedding contained visible stains, the chair was stained and dirty, there were signs of water damage on the ceiling, and the trash bin still contained garbage left behind by previous guests. Finding someone else’s trash immediately raised concerns about whether the room had been properly cleaned and inspected. Traveling late at night with a small child is stressful enough without being treated this way. Between the poor customer service, intimidation, and unacceptable room conditions, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had. Photos were taken to document these issues.

We had a suite with a pullout and a regular room. The suite with the sofa bed only had an extra pillow and no extra bedding. After about an hour of waiting and having to go down to the front desk, we got two extra top sheets and a fitted sheet but they were out of blankets. We stored wedding desserts in the suite since the regular rooms don’t have fridges. We went back to our suite in the morning and the room had been cleaned and emptied even though we didn’t check out. The desk host said it was because it was empty and the DND sign wasn’t on the door (the signs fall off the door every time you open it). Luckily, they had stored our desserts and items away so we were able to retrieve them but I don’t think it’s right to clean a room if a guest hasn’t indicated they are leaving.

I’ve always loved this Double Tree in Jax because you get all the comforts and qualities of Double Tree and a beautiful view of the city and river. The staff here is so much nicer than the other Jax location too. They make communication super easy. It’s always an affordable upscale stay. My two complaints were the new parking system. Paying to park in their garage via third party app and a CRAZY amount wasn’t cool. And I wasn’t able to shower because the drain was backed up and it overflowed. But they absolutely offered to compensate in some way possible which is difficult when you book third party (Expedia) so I’m still waiting to see what happens with that.

We’ve never stayed at a Doubletree in such terrible shape & in need of a renovation.
The hotel was very old, not well maintained. Elevators were slow and sounded old. The carpet in our room was in bad condition and appeared not to be properly vacuumed. no towel bar in the bathroom. There was a load noise (probably the elevator) above our room. We couldn’t sleep so we had to switch rooms at 1am. The other room was in similar (old) condition. No ice on at least 3 floors ( we stopped searching after the 3rd floor). Very disappointing for $500 a night!!

The staff were all super nice and accommodating, no issues there… but the rooms are super moldy I had a hard time breathing at night and woke up really congested. Mold in the picture frames, the shower curtains, the tub… water sometimes don’t get hot.

The pool did look great but the weather wasn’t good for it. I’d stay somewhere else if you are sensitive to mold.

Came and visited Jacksonville for the first time on vacation and stayed here for 6 days, along with a friend who stayed in a separate room. We loved the location, riverfront view and pool area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, this hotel needs work and upgrades, to put it kindly. Here are a list of inconveniences that we both found very annoying: my friend was unable to receive hot water during his showers regularly, my sink clogged and was also leaking all over the bathroom floor, my room key lock had to be fixed and they charged me $152 for parking for 6 days. And last but not least; there was NO water machines and the ice maker did not work. We are both very simple men from the Midwest who were just looking for the necessities and don’t like to complain. I was pissed on numerous occasions by these inconveniences. Above all, this hotel has very friendly and helpful staff with much potential. But overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Absolute misrepresentation of what the pictures look like or the acclaimed 4-Star hotel classification. The entire property is old and could use a total renovation (particularly the scary-old elevators). Rooms are tiny and look so old as well. The restroom sink is outdated in size and style (a tiny flat surface sink with a wooden bottom stand with doors) and also had a bad smell. The television is probably the most annoying mess of the lot (perhaps the last straw that triggered this review) - a completely outdated TV from the 90s that has no semblance of modernity and you would find better quality televisions laying on the streets than the ones in the rooms. TIP: If you keep such TVs, add a channel booklet to help guests find channels.

Terrible, had a kid with us, the whole place smelled like weed the whole time, bathroom was junk, both the shower fixture and sink fixture were broke, all things in the bathroom were rusted, door had molded caulk around it, thermostat on wall was hanging off. No luggage racks to take luggage to the car, to be a Hilton they should invest the money back into the rooms
