Clean uncomfortable, stay professional, and friendly staff noise at a comfortable level restaurant on premises overall very good stay!

Feedback:
No snacks at the front desk or vending machines. there should be vending machines on each floor for late night snacking if needed. For example, diabetics that may not have brought snacks with them. My recommendation is to have snacks packed for those late night eating or for late night hunger or even daytime snacking needs.

Advice: bring snacks to have during your day

We like this hotel but found our most recent visit lacking. First, the hotel is going through a MAJOR but needed update- I look forward to seeing the results. We were put on a wing of the hotel that was under going rennovations- all the doorways along the hallway were either cracked open or fully open. The room smelled funny, but the AC worked. The issue we had was the fire alarm went off randomly. We had to call the front desk to come take the alarm down. Then it didn't have batteries so they just took it out of the room entirely.
Currently, if you are looking for fancy, this isn't the place. However, the staff is very friendly and the breakfast is good. We have stayed here before, and will return after the reservations are complete. Hopefully it will be done by the Mother's Day Donna 5k next year, as this is where we generally stay for that event.

We Enjoyed Our Trip and 4th of July Weekend here. It was easy on Our Family and Everyone had a Wonderful time. The Southbank Hotel is Nice and in a Good location for all the downtown Jacksonville festivities. We felt Safe and Slept Good. No Noise or Anything
The staff was friendly and helpful. Some could have been more helpful ( like telling us the hotel restaurant was to the left. Because the Other Closed in front for renovations. No Sign. So we ate elsewhere and many more people did too.

We enjoyed our stay for the most part. And will return again.
Hopefully since it was 95/103 you'd thought they'd have Free Lemon Water through out the Hotel. Especially by the Pool or Sodas n Chips

Most hotels we have stayed at had water in the lobby, restaurant and by the pools area. With Free Parking/ Breakfast. I don't understand paying for parking if you are paying for a Room. And most have a Free Breakfast.

But overall. Good Hotel. Large and right by the water and a walk or short drive every thing

Yes they have a Bar and Restaurant.

The property was terrible! Not at all like the deceptive pictures, pitiful it was plastic everywhere dirt the rooms were so dated and smelled also. I requested a different room, and when I got to the different room, it smelt as if I was in a nursing home. So, I went back to the original room and dealt with it. I was in the military and living in the woods, I would’ve chosen first.

When checking in, our room did not match what was advertised — our mattress was not on a bed frame, it was laying on an unswept, dirty carpeted floor. We even ended up finding half eaten candy in our bed upon arrival. We ended up changing rooms, although the staff was helpful, our stay was not up to par. Pool was closed, gym was not operable, bar not opened… the list goes on. We ended up getting knocks on our door before 11 am (checkout time) from people working on the hotel. They seemed to be painters? Not sure. Overall, not thrilled with our stay due to several amenities being unavailable and the uncleanliness of the property itself. Definitely not worth the price paid.

Upon checking in, we found the hotel undergoing a co.plete renovation. Most of the main lobby closed off and the bar moved to the restaurant. The elevators were also being renovated and taken out of service 1 or 2 at a time out of the 3. I would have expected Expedia to have some type of construction notice when booking. I always stay at the Southbank when in Jacksonville, but this had to be the most disappointing visit EVER!!! Call the hotel beforehand to confirm status of renovation to avoid any issues.

Renovations going on making it hard to navigate the lobby. Carpets in hallway were dirty with debris (not vacuumed), no clock in room, no ice or soda vending machines, not enough towels for a two day stay, sticky bathroom floor. No access of a cart to carry luggage and packages, terribly uncomfortable pillows and bed covers, long check in check out process (lines and only 2 desk clerks).

I was very disappointed with my stay at Southbank Hotel Jacksonville Riverwalk. The hotel was under major construction, yet this was not properly disclosed before arrival. The property looked nothing like the photos advertised on the website or booking platforms. I have photos showing the actual condition of the hotel and would be happy to share them.

The service was equally disappointing. The front desk appeared understaffed and unorganized, and staff members seemed unfamiliar with basic guest service procedures. Housekeeping was also below expectations, and the room was not cleaned to an acceptable standard.

Overall, the combination of misleading advertising, ongoing construction, poor customer service, and cleanliness issues made for a very negative experience. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel to others.

Nothing on Expedia said anything about the hotel being under construction and unfortunately, there was no bar to sit at. I didn’t mind the dust so much but again it wasn’t listed that it was under construction. I believe it’s gonna be a beautiful hotel once its all done though.

Things that went right: the breakfast was fine. And Keju on the check-in desk was a professional, cheery and very helpful person.
Things that aren't right: The rest of the check-in staff was morose and useless. Check-in took much longer than it should The hotel lobby is undergoing massive renovation -- it's ugly and dispiriting. In fact you could say that about the entire hotel: the carpet is blue and brown designed to hide dirt but ultimately just ugly, the hotel rooms are like prison cells as they have zero artwork on the walls, the lobby interior is grey concrete and exposed pipes, and there currently is no bar area. Why the renovation isn't disclosed on the hotels.com website is a mystery as we would haven't booked. The hotel phone in our room wasn't working at all and the TV kept asking how we were doing using some name other than our own. Finally, there was a function in our hotel on the night we arrived that prevented us from parking in the on-site lot we had already paid for -- ultimately, after driving around for ten minutes and finding nothing, we had to find an attendant and use valet parking. All this on top of an ironman competition weekend where the hotel raised its room rates 2-3x above normal -- you can only imagine how ripped off we felt. I have stayed at Marriott Bonvoy hotels in a number of cities and generally felt they were good and fair -- this one falls so far below the standard that Marriott should be ashamed.

The room itself was okay, but it did have a noticeable mildew smell.

Terrible experience. Southbank Hotel was under construction, after being bought out by Marriott. This was not disclosed to me by hotels.com or Marriot when I made reservation. When I say under construction, I don’t mean slight construction I mean, heavy construction, and total remodel. The carpets were filthy. The hotel was understaffed in the housekeeping department so if you wanted a refresh of your room or total clean, you had to ask for it at the front desk. We had to wait on towels two days. I would say the only decent place in the hotel was the bar lounge area. On our second night there at 1:30 in the morning the fire alarm goes off so evacuation was needed. The person at the front desk told us if the fire alarm goes off again don’t worry we have the engineer here to turn it off immediately. We were outside for almost an hour. He also told us that this had happened several times. Speaking of staff most were nice and tried to be accommodating. This by far is the worst experience we’ve had with a hotel and especially a Marriott hotel.

Hotel was in the midst of a much-needed renovation. It would have been nice to know this prior to our trip. At the restaurant, which only had a handful of customers, we ordered a drink at the bar and food to go. The bartender was extremely inattentive and actually stood with his back to us talking with a couple of guests. It took almost an hour to get a sandwich to go from a restaurant with limited customers. We reserved a river view room and this was verified at check-in. Our room faced a parking garage and a roof top. When questioning the front desk, we learned that their rooms were incorrect in the system. A refund of the difference in room charges would have been a nice gesture. This property definitely isn’t reflective of what I expect from the Marriott brand.

Unimpressive from location, condition, cleanliness, staff, parking, and pets. Selected bc pet friendly hotel. NOT pet friendly. Best I could say would be - pet fee. No place for pet to go, no staff could guide us in where to take our pet for the restroom. Massive renovation, hotel empty and open, unlocked rooms on the floor which was just creepy, linens stained and in need of replacing. Carpets old, hallway walls needed repainting. Just pass. The price was enough where even a low end moderate hotel would have been better. I would liken this location to a super8. Just PASS.
