This is a pleasant hotel in an older section of the city. There are local flavor resturants walking distance from the hotel. The onsite resturants are lacking. The hotel rooms do not have heat ( its the desert) but the AC is over powering in the winter months. Keeping the system off is not a good option due to air quality.

The room was fine and spacious.
The stuff was also very nice, helpfull and polite.
The problem was the constant noise from the aircondition mashines outside our room. Room 204.
A constant noise, also during the night when we were trying to sleep.
Another problem has also to do with noise during the night. And that was from the party at the bar at the ground floor. Yes we could hear it every day at the second floor!
Something else was that the windows in our room could not open. So we could not refresh the air in our room.

The size of the room was acceptable but the default for 3 adults was a king bed, they provided a portable bed free of charge which improved the situation. The mattress of the portable bed was in terrible shape and had huge stains on it. They accepted to replace it. While we booked the room for 3 people, the glasses, coffee mugs and towels were provided for 2 people and we needed to constantly remind the staff. In more than one instance the \"clean\" towels had stains on them. They did not provide conditioner and body lotion was not there either. Breakfast buffet was very limited and not with many healthy options.

The room absolute stank of cigarettes on the “non smoking floor” and they couldn’t move me or do anything about it. The pool side service was non existent and no menus etc. The staff weren’t friendly and the amenities just seemed run down

The rooms were very spacious. Like an apartment. The first floor is very noisy due to the bar. But the reception warned me ahead. She gave me free upgraded room. Breakfast was OK. The guest services are amazing. Very polite, helpful and on time.

Hotel has a very good location
Shop and food around hotel which are opened late so you don't have to move far to grab some food
Hotel is clean and rooms are big and comfortable.
Only problem is that hotel doesn't say that it's also a long bar with very loud music in the evening until late in the night
Unfortunately loud music and bass can be heard in your bed. Sometimes I surprised myself singing some of their songs

⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointing stay — poor management + cleanliness issues throughout. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this hotel stay was truly disappointing + far below expectations. The management of the hotel is extremely poor; the property needs a lot more attention to cleanliness and maintenance.
Room: My room smelled of smoke, + the windows, sills, curtains were covered in a layer of dust and dirt. Room smelt damp, + the air conditioning was noisy. The bathroom tiling needs repair + the bath itself had a grimy film at the drain end, which clearly hasn’t been cleaned properly due to the fixed shower screen making access difficult.
Amenities: Towels are old + completely lacking in softness. Pillows were among the worst I’ve encountered — cheap foam, no 'give'. When I requested a feather pillow, I was given a small, damp, lumpy pillow in an oversized pillowcase.
Housekeeping: Service was inconsistent + poorly managed. Housekeeping staff came to my room to take the bathroom scales for another guest (!) — despite my objections — and I didn’t get them back until 4 days later, after repeatedly asking. The corridors were also in need of a proper vacuum.
Facilities: Rooftop area + gym: really dirty and poorly maintained. Tables/chairs covered in grime. Spa staff sleep overnight in treatment rooms -is this legal?!
Overall:
The staff were friendly and polite, but clearly poorly managed and unsupported. This hotel desperately needs leadership, training, and proper cleaning systems!

Great hotel friendly staff but needs a little TLC.

On the positives, a nice large room with good bathroom. Nice breakfast choice, tasty and again, friendly and helpful staff. Able to order additional items such as omelettes but this was not mentioned and only knew as I saw staff walking out the kitchen with food orders.

On the downside, the bathroom needed a bit of TLC, the toilet seat was loose and moved as one bolt was missing. The hot water is a manual system, you need to turn it on and wait some minutes to get hot. Not ideal if you are in a rush in the morning. So you leave it on all night, which is not ecofriendly. And when it was hot, the flow was much reduced to a slow trickle.

The gym had lots of equipment, but lots of items not working. 3 of the 4 treadmills were out of order. Luckily when I went the one working was free. Also, no water machine or towles and only tissues avaialble to clean the equipment after. However, I got what I needed from it, as only user each time.

On the last night the people in the adjacent room had a party that went on all night, full volume Indian tunes waking me at 1:30, 3 and then 5 but as I was going I let them get on with it. Not the hotels fault, but I wonder if anybody else complained and if so, what they would have done about it.

Overall good stay, I would consider staying there again.

Awful experience.I stayed in room no 208,, and there was maintenance in the room beside me. It was very noisy., i couldn’t take nap from 5-6 pm after long day because of the noise.
I complained to the receptionist,, but he did nothing :(

It’s for budget travelers, so don’t expect the hotel to be like the near by Kempinski or Sheraton. Staff is always courteous and willing to assist, but the dreadful check in (took so long that I still have nightmare) needs be addressed, otherwise I will not revisit even if it is for free

Wonderful, convenient hotel in Dubai

Nice, clean hotel. Huge rooms with balcony with nice bathroom. The people at the front desk were very kind. Easy to go around Dubai. Ten minutes walk to the train stations, Malls, Museum of the Future, and more. It is a safe area with a lot of small shopping and restaurants. Tranquil room. Nice pool to chill out. Starbucks in the lobby area.

There was very loud bar which kept shaking my room due to beat and loud music.

Informed reception and they said last night was weekend and there wouldn’t be any more noise tonight but every single night was same and couldn’t sleep.

Due to restless nights and not able to sleep, I ended up in hospital where I was given relaxation injection.

One month before my arrival, I sent only 1 request: \"Please give me a high floor\" (because I read through some other reviews that they were having renovations and it can quite noisy at the lower floors)

Upon my check-in, they gave me the first floor. :(

I asked again to provide me a higher floor. They said they will do it the next day but never did.. even after 5 days.

Regret booking this hotel, it’s no where near a 4 star hotel. Rooms are out dated and old, balcony is locked and can’t be opened. You can hear traffic noises all day and night. I was woken up early everyday because they start playing LOUD jazz music in the hallway speakers at 6:30am every morning. Construction happening in the building so you hear loud drilling and hammering noises all day. Definitely do not recommend and regret picking this hotel.

Overall hotel is ok to stay 1 night, cheap hotel, but i was really disappointed that they charged additionally 200 aed deposit (on top of a 1 night stay cost of 190), first they said that it will not be charged, only hold and then immediately released after checkout. But, when checking out next day - i realized that it was a charge and the refund in 7 days min as per receptionist answer...

It is difficult to get your luggage as there is a steep ramp and many bellman but nobody offered assistance. 5 bellman all starring at me. No assistance. The only time they asked me was the day I was leaving when I carried heavy luggage to the street. They then asked me if I needed it lifted into a taxi- no.

Front desk -friendly only when I checked out. I asked for the deposit to be released and they truly didn’t know what I was talking about. They hold a 300AED deposit.

Pool- great. Peaceful.

Room-spacious. Only one towel. That’s it. No soap or anything

I’ve been travelling to DXB since 2005 and this was the worst experience.

A clean, convenient. spacious, comfy room.

I stayed in the junior suite and it was really large and comfortable. Great location, good restaurants near by and so close to the mall. Was really happy with the place and would definitely stay there again. I didn't use the pool or go upstairs so can't comment on that. But the room was good for a reasonable price.

65 minutes of our lives lost in the foyer!

I dont know what happens when we book to stay here, but they can never find our reservation. 38 minutes to check in is not what i wanted after a 3 hour drive to get to Dubai. Our room was spacious enough but the carpet was dirty and seen better days. The shower, when opening the door, had a pungent smell coming from the drain. The toilet roll was soaking from the leaking spray hose (which was fixed within 10 minutes of reporting it). We have had numerous stays at the Donatello that have been awesome. This stay however was to say the least, a little disappointing. As you can see from our previous reviews, we dont complain about trivial things, but felt the need to highlight the check in / check out procedure. 38 minutes to check in, 27 minutes to check out??? They said they had to check the room before they could check us out.

Rooms are big, too big it's almost have this empty feeling and the bed is too soft for our liking..

They did not give a time extension even just for an hour.. and we called them at 11:30am just to know that our check out was at 12pm.. they should atleast have the courtesy to call for a check out reminder.

The hotel was good . The room is very well furnished, but the carpet flooring was dirty and had a lot of suspicious stains. I suggest replacing it with wooden floors. But in general it is considered clean. Room service is excellent. The breakfast buffet is somewhat poor. The reception is excellent.

Depressing decor, room service menue extremely limited. Food quality very poor. Extremely loud music in the bar up to 2 am. AC noisy. The drawers in the cubboards smell rotten. They have wallpaper in the rooms and they won't let you use the balcony because warm humid air from outside damages the wallpaper! Hotel full of prostitutes. I left after the second day to a more up market hotel.

This was the second time i check in that hotel, everything is clean and well, they also was very kind to give me a upgrade to a executive suite after a problem i got in my room, just one thing they should approve, that the staff doesn't understand very well english so i struggle some times to ask for something, and more smiley faces will be good.

Pleasant welcome on arrival.
Nice large spacious room but paid for an upgrade.
Staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Three different bars to drink in.
Lovely warm swimming pool.

Restaurant food looked nice but I didn’t eat there.

Music could be heard in my room until 3am every night and was very loud one night, my room was in the central column ofbthe hotel. The rooms on the out wall would be better I think

Donatello is right by the metro stop, which is very convenient. The rooms are spacious and the lobby bars are lively.
However, a hotel like this should offer a complimentary breakfast, at the very least.

Needs a big refurb

This hotel is ok if you are on a budget it needs a massive return in order to bring it up to the other standards of similar hotels. Pool on roof area could be vastly better. Smoking in the monkey pub was awful. food always buffet choice poor in the evening and always cold. Breakfast ok but cold. Our friends bathroom down the side of shower door and bath had not been cleanrd for years. Very black growths. Overall staff good near Dubai mall. There are better properties to stay in Dubai.

Location:
Was very close to metro station which make it so easy to travel.

Check-in / Check-out:
Very easy and welcoming staff. We have arrive around 11am and we got the room within few minutes.

Room:
Room size was very large and very comfortable.

Negative points:
1- The bath tub was not clean and we could see germs around it. So we used the cabin shower instead.

2- The marble stone around the bath was also broken. Can be dangeruouse.

3- We could see dust on some tables specially on the fridge top.

4- Aircondition was constantly on and it was not possible to turn it off with the controller switch.

In general if you are not too fussy about cleanliness, this hotel is well located and has reasonable price.
