Cute little hotel if you’re wanting to stay in Solvang! Walking distance to the village and restaurants. The hotel itself was well maintained and also had cute and modern decor. We checked in pretty late in the evening after office hours but was able to retrieve my room key from a lockbox. They communicated well. Highly recommend!

The Marlo is a nice place to stay overall. The location is great, just short walk distance from the downtown, but away from a busyness of it. The rooms were clean with plenty of space (we stayed at Higge Courtyard room). I'm not sure why there was only a lamp on one of the nightstands but not on the other, so I had to walk in a dark to my side of the bed after turning the light off for the night. The reason for 4 stars is that, unfortunately, the walls between the rooms (not within the suite itself) are not very soundproof, so we could hear our neighbors talking pretty clearly, and I'm sure they were talking in a normal voice not loudly. So if you are a light sleeper or like to go to bed earlier than your neighbors who like to talk late, you might find it a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, no complains, and we'll most likely stay there again, because we loved the relaxed feeling of the Marlo and that it is pet-friendly.

The only issue we had was the bed. The bed was really hard, which wasn't comfy after hours and hours of driving. The patio area was lovely and the unit was a great size and comfy couch. Parking is limited and people don't pay attention to which direction you should drive, but the area around is free to park. We didn't interact much with the staff, but they were nice and helpful when we did. Having a kitchen area was really nice for the extra items we bought while in Solvang.

We left our pillows. Favorite pillows. Called for days and days afterwards. No response. Ignored. Swear to god no one works on that property. It’s a ghost town. House keeping was not available. Everything is discussed via text. They just ignore texts.

The hotel is delightful. The location is peaceful, right on the edge of where things start to hustle and bustle but separated enough to not feel the pressure of the crowds. The courtyards are immaculate and have lovely relaxation areas with games and fire pits. There is a recreational room with more games. It felt like a cozy cabin. So family friendly and clearly doggy friendly as well! Will 100% stay there again. The only thing I would say is missing is a hot tub for soaking the old bones after a day of walking the village. Oh! And the TV in room was GINORMOUS! Since I had a slight head cold, I actually used it one night and it was an unexpected delight

Side note: I meant to tell the hotel that the two area rugs are a trip hazard because they don’t have a rug pad underneath. When I lifted my suitcase to put it on the bench at the foot of the bed, the rug slipped under me and I almost fell. A rug pad with a rubber bottom would prevent that.

The walls are paper thin so don’t stay here unless you plan to sleep with earplugs. We stayed with our baby, which was a huge mistake. The white noise machine we brought with us wasn’t enough to drown out the noise of the upstairs neighbors pacing the floor all night or enough to block out the sound of neighbors phone conversations or arguments. We spend three sleepless nights here for the Solvang Century. We will never stay here again! Worst part is that the staff leaves at 6pm so there’s no one around the enforce quiet hours.

This is a beautiful property with amazing courtyards. The room was almost perfect, it was a bit dirty from the previous guest but wasn’t a deal breaker. The security lock for the door was nonfunctional as it was missing one piece to actually connect the door to the wall. Ice machine did not work so we went out and bought a bag of ice, good news is it fit perfectly in the freezer.

The biggest problem was the WiFi, I stayed 2 nights and the WiFi was no existent. We checked in about 7pm and noticed it didn’t connect and or it would connect but say that there is no internet connection. They provided us with a separate WiFi, but same story. Had to use my hot spot to get some work done but such a huge bummer especially since they advertise free WiFi. Now I understand free WiFi could mean slow speeds but unfortunately we couldn’t even get a page to load.

Would love to return as it is such a great property, however if they don’t get the WiFi fixed I don’t believe I will return.

The new renovation clearly focused on the outside and public spaces more than the interior spaces. We enjoyed the very firm mattress but others may not as much. The amenities (fridge with freezer, keurig, microwave, water) were all nice. Why not also include a real mug? Surprisingly good sound protection between the rooms— not as much with car noises outside.

We had a remote check in due to arriving after the office was closed which was fine but then the WiFi didn’t work and couldn’t find anyone to help. Turns out they changed the name of the *secured WiFi network. How was anyone supposed to know?

The water pressure in the shower was none existent. And the TV in the bedroom wouldn’t connect to any of the 3 WiFi services they had. All for the reasonable price of $1400 for 3 nights,

We’ve stayed here previously when it was The M and had a good experience so we were excited to check it out with the remodel/rebrand. We loved how clean and modern everything in the room looks since the remodel while still keeping a lot of the old charm like the stained glass in the bathroom and the carved wooden doors. The bed was very comfortable and we also loved that the rooms had both a fridge, freezer and microwave and the AC was nice and cool because the temperatures got surprisingly high during our winter stay. The back gardens and front courtyard are so pretty and peaceful and it’s a quick walk into town while being removed enough that it’s nice and quiet. The only slightly iffy thing was we had one of the garden rooms and the back door to the garden is located in the bathroom with a window and the way the shade is positioned even when closed people from the garden can definitely see in if someone is on the toilet.

It can be tricky trying to find a lux room in Solvang. While the Marlo isnt the epitome of high-end, the room has a nice finish and plenty of space for me and my significant other. It was very quiet and cozy and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway.

A pleasant surprise, quaint, quiet and terrific find. My wife and love our Solvang get aways coming from Ventura County. We stumbled across The Marlo because we wanted to stay somewhere different. The Marlo is tucked away on Alisol Road but well worth checking out. The rooms are boutique in nature and the staff is welcoming. I'd highly encourage those who are willing to step out of what they know in Solvang and check out The Marlo.

I found several bugs in the room during the stay. I woke up to find a cockroach running across the bed. When I notified the front desk, they claim it’s never happened before and I would be given a discount. I was then ignored and never followed up with. I didn’t even care about a discount until they mentioned it and didn’t fulfill it. I find it unlikely another guest hasn’t experienced this so I wanted to leave a review so they cannot claim this has never happened to the next person that says it

Everything was perfect! Very clean, pet friendly, nice courtyard, very quiet, and walking distance to everything. Just a heads up if you are going check in late, they won’t send you the code and self check in instructions until after they close through text. They were kind of hard to get a hold of by phone when I initially called for self check in instructions which made me anxious but once I found out you can text them it was a lot easier. They text you often and check in to see if you need anything and respond much quicker through text. I highly recommend booking your stay here. I have already recommended this place to coworkers and friends!

This is a cute affordable hotel. It is has updated decor and was comfortable. The beds and pillows are comfortable. It was nice having a little refrigerator. We enjoyed the location. We were able to walk through the town of Solvang. Cute restaurants, bakeries and tasting rooms if you drink wine
It is not the most luxurious or high end hotel but definitely cute for a long weekend. The only negative was the shower water pressure. They would service the room if you asked them to. I would stay at the Marlo again, most likely.

You can do better.

A few problems. The photos on your website are a bit deceptive of the actual property. It’s not as nice as it looks. It’s undergoing construction now. Our room, though clean and quiet was rather small with no closet space. The bed was great but the microwave didn’t work. WiFi was spotty. The electric outlet strip on one side of the bed did not work. There are much nicer hotels in Solvang in the same price range. I would not stay there again.

WOW!! The Marlo is amazing!!

When our friends decided to celebrate the birthday in Solvang they shared with us the hotel they were staying at (which wasn't the Marlo btw) to book a room they no longer had rooms available. So I looked to see what hotels that were close to our friends. The Marlo was directly across the street. Not thinking to much we book a room at the Marlo. And let me tell you this I am glad we did!!

We travel quite a bit and I have to tell you the Marlo has them beat. From the amazing room to the wonderful staff. We drove out from the Inland Empire and we stopped to spend a good portion of the day in Santa Barbara before heading to Solvang. I received a text message from the staff confirming our arrival time and advised we would be there after 6pm. Being that their office hours are 9a-6p they advised me no worries that they will put my room key in a lockbox and provided me the combination for it.

When we arrived a little after 6:30p located the lock box with ease and boom key was there. The next morning I received a text message from the staff asking how our first night was and if there was anything that we would need. Now like I mentioned we travel and have stayed at a lot of 5 star hotels and I can tell you never received that personal attention. We did text asking for some more coffee and coffee cups (I drink a lot of coffee) and they replied instantly we weren't in our room at the time however they asked for our permission to deliver them to the room

The entire property is under construction. It will be awesome once complete. I feel like they should have been closed during this renovation. It’s A LOT. Depending on when you go be sure the construction is done! Bed is HARD, and platform is kinda high, not the easiest bed to get in. No coffee maker in room, no”continental breakfast”, we had to go out first thing for a cup of coffee!! We wil go back after it’s finished!!!
