I’m not sure why Fess Parker Wine Inn uses Expedia but I booked a room at Fess Parker Wine Inn through Expedia, I got a confirmation through Expedia and I called Fess Parker Wine Inn to confirm my reservation and they did not honor it. This reservation was for this Memorial weekend so I was in a panic and had to call other hotels to book a room. This experience was horrible.

This is a very nice property with exceptional rooms. 2 2 Wine tasting and a bottle of their wine is offered complementary. You may have to ask for the wine. Fess Parker winery is right up the road and is beautiful and Jack is hilarious and very informative. Join the wine club and take some home or have it shipped.(80.00) The other wineries are close by so you can make a day of it. We stayed two days but could have used three.

The property was very nice and relaxing. The disappointing aspect was that prior to booking the room there was no mention that the restaurant and fitness center were closed until we checked in. It is a small town and it left only one open restaurant within walking distance for dinner.

The Fess Parker Wine Country Inn is a delightful place to stay. Its location is ideal for walking around the charming little town of Los Olivos. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the complementary breakfast at Bear & Star is excellent. The room is spacious, clean, comfortable and very quiet. The overall stay was superb and is highly recommended.

Maybe it was just our room (number 9) but the bed was so old and uncomfortable to the point that my back hurt by morning. It had one of those really worn mattresses with huge divots that your body can’t help but sink into. This room is also at the end of the hallway close to housekeeping so beginning at 5am you hear a lot of carts rolling and banging and doors shutting. Hopefully other rooms are better. Otherwise the hotel is really clean and nice. If they get new beds this would easily be a five-star review.

Lovely Inn but Untrained to Deal with Discomfort

The property is lovely and the room was very well appointed. Unfortunately after the inn experienced a power outage from a storm, they were unable to provide us with our complimentary breakfast and to restore the heat in our room after the power was restored. We certainly understand that they had no control over the power. However, after the power was restored and we tried to heat our room, it stayed around 62-64 degrees for the entire day and I'm sure got even colder at night, even after they brought in a small space heater that unfortunately was under-powered to heat the room. After we alerted them to the situation, they offered us no compensation for the inconvenience. I don't feel that they needed to fully compensate us for night, but some small gesture like an extra bottle of wine, credit at the restaurant for the missed breakfast, or a discount on a future stay would have been nice. The lack of concern shown by the front desk to our situation and discomfort was a disappointment.

The place was nicely decorated and the facility was great. However the beds were extremely soft and both my wife and woke up at 4 am with a back ache and had to get up. The value on the room was on the high side. Next time we will probably opt for somewhere else.

This Place is Awesone - Upscale Comfortable

Such a great place in a great setting. Upscale without being stuffy, comfortable and super clean. Fits the town like a glove with the tasting rooms and walkable area. Rooms are generous in space and outfitted in style. Stayed across the street this time and loved the pool area that stays open late to relax after a great day of wine tasting. Underrated but awesome restaurant. Had a singer in the Courtyard that was great with a cocktail.

There isn't one little thing that didn't go perfect on our two nights at this hotel. Although we had a regular room booked we were upgraded to the Parker Suite and it was amazing! The breakfast, which was included, was in the Bear and Star Restaurant, their restaurant and the food was superb. We also had dinner there one of the nights. They brought us out a special wine to try, the chef came out and spoke with us to guide us and all of the meals were wonderful. We also had a complimentary bottle of wine in the room. Spotless room, amazing service from every single person we had contact with. Trying to find one reason to make it a 4.9 star rating, but it was a 5 star for sure! We will definitely go back.

Quick getaway

We picked this hotel for my birthday weekend, just my husband and I. We thought the hotel was at their winery, but it’s not. The actual winery is about a 10 min drive away. There are plenty of other wineries near by. The hotel is cute, in the center of town. It is extremely overpriced. I was hoping for a lot more given the price. There is no hot tub on site and the gym is pretty small. Bathtub is small. The room was nice, it had a fireplace and beautiful crown molding. Nothing extra special other than those features. Our room needed a new shower head. There are some nice sitting areas on site and the hotel structure is pretty. They include breakfast with your stay which is good, however the service was slow. We could tell they need more staff. We also had dinner at their restaurant. They messed up a few times on our order. My husbands burger was well done, they forgot the corn in my grits and they forgot our cornbread. Just seemed short staffed this weekend. The town is very nice. We will return to Los Olivos but not to this hotel because of the price point. Overall our stay was okay, I would say 3.5 stars.

Amenities no longer offered elsewhere

Do you remember when good hotels regularly offered nightly turn-down service and left chocolates on the pillow? Many of the larger luxury chains have foregone these amenities. The Fess Parker Inn has maintained traditional standards. The room decor is also traditional, but almost plush in its furniture, linens, decoration. My evening here was one of the most relaxing I have spent in a hotel in many years.

Beautiful hotel but very over priced, even for CA.

The Fess Parker is a lovely hotel in a picturesque setting. Most things about it were wonderful, particularly the very friendly and helpful staff. It is, though, in my opinion, very over priced! I realize that I was there during a peak time period, grape harvest, but even with that taken into account, my suite was not worth the VERY steep rate. It was quite large but lacked the finishes you would expect at that price. The bed was uncomfortable; the mattress, however new, already had sunken spots and lacked support. The bedding also did not reflect the luxury price, with fairly rough sheets and a motley assortment of pillows, none of which lent itself to a good night's sleep. The bathroom shower doors had some rust on the bottom hinges and the baseboard moldings were fairly dinged up with paint missing and wood showing through. The ceiling fan was noisy, as were the vehicles that traveled down the main road in front of the hotel, even when the windows were closed.

Also, if you have any mobility issues, the "spa section" of the property, which is across the street from the main hotel, has no elevator. The stairs to the second floor are fairly long and steep.

The Wine Country Inn NOT located on a Winery

So I assumed that we'd be staying at an actual vineyard in Santa Barbara for this reservation,however, the Inn was located in the town of Los Olivos along with shops. Inn had 19 rooms, with some rooms in a separate bldg across the street from the Main Inn. We were assigned a room "across the street" and not offered any assistance. On opening the door, a malodorous, musty scent overpowered the room and we returned to Reception to report the unpleasant air. They were most helpful in reassigning another room, this time to the 2nd flr, Main Bldg. We again schlepped our things across the street and upstairs using an elevator. Decor and room finishings were lovely, bed was very comfortable and the bathroom luxurious. Keurig coffee maker and water were great in room. Music and noises from a Chef's Table dinner hosted that evening for their "Special Guests" carried into our room until late into the night...we were directly above the Dining Room. Fireplace in room did not work. Next morning, went down for Brkfst, included with reservation and found wait staff very disorganized and unprofessional. Our older waitress addressed us as "kiddies"! BTW, we are in our Senior years so found the attitude and tone disrespectful and unnecessary. It took an hour to get our meal and when we finished at 10:30, we were advised by Reception that check out was at 11:00 am. We left before 11:30 feeling less relaxed than expected. Overpriced for mediocre service and food. Lovely setting/decor.

Quaint hotel in heart of Wine Country!

Rooms were great and located in a very quaint, quiet town! Close to so many wineries. Tasting rooms all within walking distance, but close st 5 or 6pm. Vineyards are all driving distance. Beautiful patio with fireplace and fountain and plenty of seating. Parking easily available. Restaurant has limited menu, food is delicious.

I was gladly surprised when a hotel concierge contacted me by message on my phone welcoming in advance and offering any help we might need to make restaurante or winery reservations.

Check in was nice, reception is nice, rooms were fantastic.

We had some wines at night, nice selection at the bar, loved the decoration.

Breakfast is in a restaurant next to the bar, loved the decoration, breakfast was very lovely. Small menu but very interesting.

Pool looked nice, warm. Secluded.

Room was great - very nice and quiet. Besides the squeaky bed it was quite comfortable.
Only rated it a 4 because of the bad service in their restaurant. For dinner the busboy took our order (after waiting for 15 minutes) because the server was "busy" when only 2 other tables were visible. Came down at 7am for breakfast and the place was dark. Finally found busboy and he informed us he'd need another 10 minutes. Coffee was out for free but no creamer of any kind. When breakfast was served the scrambled eggs were cold and overcooked. No toast. No music/ambiance. Tried it again the next morning, waffle comes out without fruit (asked for strawberries) or whipped cream. Just plain and barely warm. One evening we ordered room service for an entree and a salad. The guy brings it up with no silverware...just the 2 plates. No ketchup for the fries. No salt/pepper. No water. I don't get it! These are simple details. How could it be so bad? So I would go there again to stay but never go to the restaurant again. It's really too bad.

Nice, With a Few Minor Complaints

We've been visiting Los Olivos and Santa Ynez for more than 10 years, but usually stay at the Santa Ynez Inn or the Marriott in Buellton--both of which we really like. The Fess Parker Inn is also nice--and a great location--but we were somewhat disappointed with the customer service as well as a few other minor details. Upon arrival, the receptionist at the front desk was on the phone and took a few minutes to even acknowledge us, which was a bit off-putting. When we got to our room, we discovered there was no bathtub, even though our room description said there would be one. They were nice about moving us to a different room, but even that bathroom had a tub/shower combo; it was small and not nearly as luxurious as the bathrooms we've enjoyed elsewhere (can you tell I like a good bathroom?! Probably not important to some...but it is to me.). The room was nice otherwise, with beautiful decor and plenty of space. That said, we were disappointed to discover that the pool was across the street from the main building. If you're hoping to use the pool or spa during your stay, you might want to request a room across the street (although I'm not sure if the rooms in that building are as nice). We had dinner and breakfast at Petros, located at the hotel, which was fine. The food was hit or miss. The breakfast was a lot better than the dinner. Overall, a good--but not great--stay.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the staff in every department with smiles and an offer to be of assistance. Our room was located in the spa building across the country town street from the lobby building. The room was beautiful decorated, the bed and pillows comfortable, the in-room gas fireplace was a romantic touch, and the amenities - even the in-room coffee - were spot on. We enjoyed lounging by the salt water pool and fire in the evening after a delicious dinner on the back patio at Fess Parker's Petros, and again in the morning in the cozy bathrobes, newspaper, and coffee provided. The hotel is located at the end of two blocks of wine tasting rooms. Most shops and tasting rooms close at 5:00pm. Fess Parker Inn was the perfect place for a LA/OC Romantic Getaway!

Disappointing stay

Upon arrival a young man behind the front desk stated there was no parking in the hotel but could park in front of the hotel and or behind the hotel in the alley."Free hotel parking?"I try to get in through the entrace door with my both hands busy with luggages and bags, no one opens the door and the front desk guy does not move. We check in ,no any kind of instructions. We are in the elevator and my phone gets a message from American Express that there was a card charge of $500 from the hotel. The guy states no charge was issued. We show the bank alert, and he insists no charge. "Incidental" is what they were charging before it happened and they would return back to the card if nothing would happen i assumed. Second night, there are two huge flies on the lamp,then another three show up. My teenage daughter starts complaining, walking around taking pictures of disgusting creatures. We end up going downstairs to inform and the front desk girl opens the drawer behind her to look for someting. I figured out she was looking for spray.Sorry I said, i would not be able to sleep in bug sprayed room. She changes our room.
The restaurant is being cleaned while guests are sitting and eating. Yellow bucket with very strong cleaning product smell and floor mop just in front of the entrance to restaurant for the hotel guests. The host is fixing her hair in the back.Are you closed i ask even though i see people at the tables.No, come in she replies from the back still fixing her hair.

Return to Fess Parker

This was our 6th trip to Fess Parker and Los Olivos. It is one our favorite places. Everything is 1st class from the rooms to the restaurant (Petros). Staff is well trained and very helpful. My only complaint is their response to any answer you give them is "perfect". They need a little variety in their responses.

Went there with my husband for a weekend getaway. Hotel was in great location and within walking distance of restaurants, tasting rooms and shops. I would recommend this hotel. Breakfast was included and very good!

Perfect

I don't normally do reviews and surveys but in this case I am compelled to do so. Our stay was nothing short of perfect! The entire hotel is beautiful and very well kept. The staff is very nice and bend over backwards to please the guests. The restaurant Petros is also first class in service and Best of all we got a great deal from Expedia! Loved it.
