It was a great stay. It had the amenities I needed like frig, coffee maker, plenty of pillows, AC, and nice TV. Parking was great. The outside landscaping was very nice. It allowed for walking to nearby places to eat and shopping. A stroll downtown Buellton and even a nice couple mile walk around the area. The only thing I would say wasn't very pleasant was how loud the AC units are. You can't really watch TV when they are on. Maybe a quieter unit or ceiling fans might help a bit more not sure. I would definitely stay here again for the ease of parking, comfortable bed and close to all the great wineries and breweries.

Check in was different than usual places as it’s done over the phone, recommend doing it the day before you arrive. Luckily there happened to be an employee there to help us in person, although that’s not a guarantee that that will always be the case.

Room itself was small but nice for a two star hotel! Shampoo and body wash and other bathroom offerings were pleasant. The only complaint I have is that the AC/heating unit emitted a noxious smell if we tried using it. The temperature wasn’t too bad so it wasn’t that much of an issue, but if we were to really need it, would’ve been pretty unhappy. As long as they address this, would definitely consider staying here again.

The property was modern, clean & convenient. The refrigerator was the best one EVER in a hotel. The A/C was really loud. We could hear the neighbors A/C, too, which was disturbing to sleep. The polka dot tile in the bathroom was cool, but somewhat blinding. Since there’s no one on staff, you can’t easily request more towels, etc. I’d say that it was a little pricey for what was offered.

We really enjoy staying here when we are in town to pick up wine carom our wine clubs. Great location, pet friendly. I have only two complaints.
The A/C is really loud. They need to install ceiling fans and that would be beyond great.
The water temperature is really inconsistent. Super hot going to super cold. And that is without the place even being full.

It’s our go to place nonetheless!

We shared the coffee machine was broken at around 7am and by 9am we had a replacement (not good coffee from a not so good coffee machine, but that’s a different issue).

The hotel was very nicely remodeled and clean. We enjoyed the Corn Hole setup and the outdoor picnic tables.

My only suggestions is to post the access code to the ice machine room in the room and the fridge was a bit loud.

I highly recommend this hotel!

We weren’t sure about how this hotel was going to be especially with no staff on site. Much to our surprise it was perfect. The room was spotless. We had a small issue with the refrigerator but the maintenance staff was great and showed us how the refrigerator worked. We were very pleased with the experience and will be back.

The property was very clean, and the room was immaculate. The HVAC in Room 12 was extremely noisy. #12 is an end unit, which is nice, but there is a short walk with no parking in front of the room; might be problematic for a disabled person.

My main reason for the low rating was the customer service at check in. The woman who answered the phone was very unprofessional, condescending and rude. It was as though I greatly inconvenienced her to do her job. I am not tech challenged, and I felt I had done everything that was required of me ahead of time, but I still never received my check-in email. To this day. Example: When the emails failed to arrive, she asked if I was on their WiFi. I responded that I was not, because, with no information how was I supposed to know the name and password? This seemed to aggravate her. She was abrupt and rude about the password. My questions felt legitimate...\"all lc? No spaces?\", but were met with silence and snark. Still no email, so she told me to look around for Andrew. Who the hell was Andrew? What did he look like? Was I supposed to approach every man in the parking lot!? Unbelievable. I finally got her to give me my room number and security code, which she apparently had all along. Yeah...bit of a rough introduction. I did eventually meet Andrew because he used a code to open my door while I was in my room. Well, hello. Apparently my arrival was not conveyed to him. He was apologetic, and gave me hotel instructions on paper.

Self check in means you have to upload a new credit card & pay $50 in deposit as well as upload an ID - per room - on site in their parking lot with terrible wifi. So youll end up driving to get wifi to complete this terrible experience. Per room - they cant just apply your information to all rooms you prepaid for. An hour 1/2 later youll get in your room.

Property was excellent. We had booked it to just stay overnight while on a long road trip...but we would rent it for longer duration too! That's how impressed we were.

The only problem is the check-in process. I am OK with the remote and no front office style, but had to call multiple times to get my check-in credentials and it was late in the night...so the whole experience gave us a lot of anxiety!

Motel was very clean. Furniture and items in very good state, price reasonable, nice basic ammenities.

We only had 2 problems.
1.- There is no lock on the inside of the doors like a dead bolt or at least a chain. We had on of the service staff just opened the door and try to get in when we were inside.
He was polite and apologized but still. Imagine if we had been in undergarments or worse.
2.- The hot water ran out one morning in the middle of the shower. No hot water or even cold in the hot side of the control. I had to remove my shampoo with cold water.

I wish the hotel's website description of the amenities had noted the availability of a microwave in the ice machine room because I had wanted to bring food that needed to be heated up, but I couldn't tell that was possible until after I got there. I was also pleasantly surprised to see a refrigerator and keurig-type coffee maker in my room, but I wish that had also been mentioned on the website.

Great stay! The room was clean, staff was kind. They were accommodating and answered really quickly. Parking was really easy. Overall 10/10. We will definitely be back.
It was cosy and had everything we needed plus some. Everything was very accessible and if we needed extras they were just a few steps away.
Check in and check out were simple. No safety concerns. We felt welcome. There were shops right next to us too, easy walk or quick drive if we needed snacks or drinks.

I’ve stayed here many times when I come to the valley for wine tasting. Pert little motel for my vibe, quiet, easy parking, very comfortable bed & pillows, clean, dog friendly. This last visit was the only time I’ve seen staff on site, mostly contactless for registration and room access. Easy drive to sister property to use the amenities (pool, gym, bar/restaurant), nice dog park close by, easy access to freeway.

Despite the fact they issued me a refund promptly, I'm still giving this place a 1 star review. I had a reservation for 5 nights but checked out after the 2nd night. Upon waking up after the first night I found the refrigerator had gone up to 64 degrees at some point and ruined all the food I had just bought. I immediately texted the number that guests are told to text but never received any acknowledgement. The second morning, while in the middle of the shower, the water went out completely. It was then I decided to just get the hell out and demand a refund.
The staff never apologized for their refrigerator ruining my food. It was Expedia that was kind enough to offer a credit for me to compensate me for the waisted food.
Also, the hotel charged my card twice for $66 for whatever reason even though I paid through Expedia. This was an additional random charge on top of the $50 incidental hold they require. Luckily they did issue me a refund for both unauthorized charges but without explanation as to why the charges were there in the first place.
I will absolutely never stay here again

If I can give 10 stars I would! The staff here are the best! It’s pretty cool because now I live in the next town from where this hotel is next to. Ok this hotel is low key, comfortable, quiet, fun, close to everything and a hell of a good price! The staff that works at Sideways inn which runs this place are the coolest and helped me along the way with everything! This is located within Santa Barbara county and let me tell you the rental market is horrible:( It is worse than where I live in San Diego. So this place is a steel! Each room have a nice comfy bed, a tv, fridge, warm shower and you can use the games there along with swim at the Sideways inn! Thank you guys, Amber, Sienna and our Great Dane Ace thank you!!! Hope to see you guys around soon!!!

This is not a fancy place but is perfect for someone looking for an affordable, comfortable, clean room with all the basic ammenities. It looks like the rooms were updated recently. The bathroom was modern and very clean. The bed was comfortable and parking couldn't be easier, right outside my room. This will be my new spot for overnight golf trips in the area.

Overall, it's a good deal. Would have liked if the fridge in the room was a little quieter. Also, the ice machine room was right next door. Could hear noise from there a few times during the stay. The queen room was a little small, but just big enough for 2 people. Despite all that, slept well and would stay in Hotel Hygge again.

Room was very clean and bed was super soft and comfortable to sleep in. Small space but perfect for a weekend getaway. Shower pressure was amazing, nice and hot after being out in the cold. AC and heating worked quick. I checked in at the sideways in (a sister property) and they even offered to let us use their pool! very nice of them. The hotel is contactless so you don’t NEED to go check in at the other hotel unless you want to. Everything is seamless nonetheless. it’s 10 minutes away from solvang and the drive there is lovely.

The staff notified me via text that our room was ready way before check in time which was very much appreciated. The room that was assigned to us was pleasant and cleaned. Even though it was a self check in property, all the amenities are available within the premises. The staff were quick to respond and they reached out to us to see if everything meets our expectations. I especially like the bocce game they have in the yard which I played with my partner. The only thing they may need to improve is the air conditioning, it makes a louder sound that if you’re a light sleeper will be a challenge.

I was enjoying our stay other than the water pressure stops when someone else turns their water on. We left to get breakfast and when we came back they were cleaning our room before we checked out. When we spoke to a manager onsite he made it sound like it was our fault for opening the windows. When I explained we didn’t checkout yet he became angry with us and said most people forget to text and we assumed you left. I would have stayed here again if it wasn’t for the negative interaction with this man.
