I am writing this review so that the hotel can properly educate their staff on guest safety + property management NOT to get someone in trouble.

Last night 6/17, the smoke alarm in my room started going off at 11pm. Obviously out of concern me and my family immediately jumped out of bed and ran out. We noticed that no other rooms evacuated and when the alarm turned off we inspected our room. No fire. Then it went off again at 11:05pm. Immediately I contacted the 24/7 contact number the hotel had provided. The person on the other side apologized and said it must’ve been an error.

We went to sleep but it went off again around 11:40 and once again our sleep was disturbed. This time I called the number and instead of the person showing concern, they told me to remove the batteries from the alarm so it wouldn’t bother us again. THIS IS A LIABILITY. At first I was willing but I ultimately asked the person to come and replace the alarm so we could have a proper one.

It is absolutely not okay to not have working fire alarms in rooms and this should NOT have been suggested. I understand that it was late and perhaps that’s why they were hesitant on coming to do their job but accidents can happen at any moment and this made me feel very unsafe. I am grateful they ultimately replaced it but I should have had to contact them multiple times or been awoken multiple times for action to be taken.

I’ve stayed here for a total of two times- first time as a solo traveler, and second time as a family of 3. Great stay both times. Very clean, basic amenities, right at the start of the main road going through Solvang. We usually park at the Inn and walk through town for eating and shopping. Location, staff, room and beds are great. Cute theme too! If I were to report anything negative is that there are only 16 rooms so they can sell out easily. Also to consider if you wanted to know…the showers had low water pressure, and the showers we had were small (to the dismay of my size XL husband). Otherwise no real complaints.

After a lot of pushback and rudeness, the manager comped me 1 night stay after giving away my room that i imitially paid for. They put me in room in the back corner, no sunlight and next to the supply room. both mornings, I woke up at 5:30am-6am constant slamming doors, conversations right in front of window and door and stomping and yelling. The front desk woman was incredibly rude and did not want to take accountability for giving not only my room away as well as my cousin’s. Not worth the headache.

The AC/heater did not work effectively. It was freezing cold during the evening, but the heater function just blew cold air even though it was set at 85. The first night, it eventually warmed up after an hour, thinking it fixed itself. However last night it was back to blowing cold air and never warming up all night. It was a most uncomfortable stay. And the office is closed, with only an emergency number displayed. However, I didn’t deem this as an emergency and therefore did not call.

Did not run the A/C so can’t rate. Many coats of clean white paint over trim, etc. which should’ve been replaced long ago. Swedish(?) flag throws and pillows on bed worn and dingy. Shower pressure non-existent and centered overhead rain-style with nowhere to lather up in that phone booth sized space. Went to the front desk to check in and the lady said I should’ve received an email. That email covered everything and I didn’t even need to check in; liked that but would’ve been nice to receive a text also. Instant coffee packs in the room - gross.

Overall, not bad but overpriced given no amenities. Great downtown location close to everything. Will not stay there again.

The room was clean. It's not a luxe hotel, but is a great bargain. The young lady in the office was extremely courteous and kind. She let us check in a bit early which was truly appreciated as we were tired and needed to rest a bit before hitting the town.
Everything about the room was good with the exception of the hot water in the shower. It took a really long time to get hot and even after it warmed up, it was not so hot that I showered with anything less than full on hot setting.
The location is good. I reccommend the place.
