Everything about the room and property was beautiful, the craftsmanship was so meticulous, and the property was very clean and well maintained. Easy entry, peaceful surroundings, and an amazing turn of the century atmosphere!
Michael
Was as described, great location close to downtown.
Tony
Beautifully maintained “mansion” with wonderful rooms. Quiet, huge room, comfortable bed, great shower and jetted tub. Fridge and coffee in the hall. AC. Nice breakfast spot just down the hill. Great location—right next to the amazing library and a couple blocks from downtown.
Janette
This is a beautifully maintained historic home in a great location. The staff were very responsive. The room was clean and comfortable.
It was listed as having a separate tub and shower, but there was no shower. The tub is in the same room as the bed, so there is no privacy. In addition, there are no closets and only one small mirror in the toilet area.
The house has a shoes off policy, which may not appeal to all guests (especially older people).
I recommend updating the descriptions so there are no surprises.

Self check in/out made the process simple! The room was large and had a great air conditioning window unit. The walk from downtown Stillwater was around 10 minutes and it was nice to be removed from all the bars/noise.

Beautiful b&b

The room was wonderful. The home is beautiful, and all our needs were met.

We stayed in the Carriage House and it was awesome!
Very private, clean, bed was comfy. Three sided fireplace and jacuzzi tub made the night. The house was nice and were able to see 3 of the 4 suites which was nice. The only thing that was different from the dozens of other B7B's or Inns we have stayed at is there is no interaction/getting to know the owners.

No staff on site - missed that homey feel. Loved the two way fireplace. Self coffee area was nice but needed end of day decaf options and tea options.
Dana
The Aurora Staples Inn is a fantastic B&B, one of the best. The accommodations in the St. Croix Suite is spectacular, with antique furniture, in room fireplace, huge suite space, and amazing linens and decor. We appreciate the hassle-free checkin, host greeting, and the ease of parking and location to downtown. We will stay here every time we visit Stillwater.
Janet
Lovely home.
Bradley
Check in was great ! Owner greeted us and let us know if we needed anything to call ….. Room was very clean, nice and quiet , very comfortable place ! Would stay again . Thanks for a great stay !
Anne
The mattress in our room was soft and lumpy. We both experienced back pain after sleeping on it.
The owners were very nice and responsive, the house is beautiful and beautifully decorated and furnished, the other guests were very friendly, parking was easy, and you could easily walk downtown. If they can fix the mattress issue, they would get a 5 star rating from us.

This establishment is situated in an old restored home. It still has the original wooden floors, doors and fixtures. Internet access was very simple and worked perfectly. Location of this house is within walking distance of Main Street, home to many restaurants and antique shops. A walkable linear path over the lift bridge.
Very good customer service. We experienced a power outage which lasted 5 hours. We received a partial refund. Even though it did not affect us, a tree was blown down during this recent storm. It was clear out before midday.
Would recommend this place for quiet stay.

Charming house
Miranda
Aurora Staples was very quaint, with beautifully preserved Victorian architecture. It was clean and quiet, and within walking distance to restaurants and shops downtown. Rachelle was a wonderful and accommodating hostess. My husband and I would definitely stay there again.
Laurie
There is no staff at this location. You let yourself in with a code. You had to go to the Lowell Inn for breakfast. No ice or wine glasses available. Our room had jetted tub but no shower. This is advertised as a bed and breakfast but since there were no host in my mind should not be advertised as such.
Amber
Quiet place to stay! Great service!
Gina
Lovely carriage house!
The carriage house was very spacious with a lovely tub and shower. The bed was very comfy. We never met the owners. That part felt kind of impersonal. They were out of ice (per text) and there was no water supplied in our room like there was in the house. Otherwise, the room had most of what we needed.
The breakfast coupon was for a truly spectacular restaurant with incredible service.

We had a great one night stay to celebrate our Anniversary. The Gvierney room was so comfortable, the bed was soft and we enjoyed the jetted bathtub. Would definitely book it again.

Perfect Getaway
We booked the St Croix Suite to celebrate a milestone birthday with mom/adult daughter. The room was lovely with a seating area and fireplace, so we settled in before walking to a nearby restaurant for dinner. It was dark, but we felt safe.
A good hill climb, and more time relaxing. We didn't use the hot tub, but it is big enough for two.
The bed was a King, and very comfortable. You do not feel movement of the other person, and we slept great.
I would definitely book here again!!
Also breakfast at the Lowell inn, just down the hill was delicious. We both ordered the eggs benedict and were not disappointed.

It's a beautiful inn. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Thomas
Loved the jetted tub.
ROBERT
Front door has no lock-broken. No shower in room-hand held in whirlpool tub. Old sheets and pilllow cases. Worn out bench seat. No housekeeping. Lighting in stairways is minimal. Noisy room. Drafty window air conditioner on sides of window.

I love old houses
This one is a meticulously kept architectural dream . Well kept and wonderfully decorated. Bed was comfy. Breakfast at the Lowel inn was delicious.

We had a wonderful visit to the Aurora Staples. It was just a little away from the main area, so it was quiet and convenient. Very Charming. We stayed in the Riverview room which had a small porch and a hanging swing. Very nicely decorated.
Touchless entry was convenient and flexible.

Beautiful house and porch. I recommend that a door be added to the Riverside Suite bathroom.
Christine
Contactless entry was easy with passcode. Only available beverages were a kureg coffee maker and bottled water in fridge. Did get voucher for breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
Recommend for those who like victorian style B&Bs. Lovely old furniture and decor. Bed was king and very comfortable.

The property is quaint and rustic. Very close to downtown and very walkable to all things. If you are coming from out of town and Uber-ed from the airport as we did, there are little options to assist with luggage. They did ultimately let us check in early which was helpful. However, if you assume you can drop your bags prior to check in, that is not an option. It states BnB but the breakfast is at another hotel a few blocks away and you have to make reservations 24 hours in advance. Also, the check in check out is all done on your own. Feels more like a shared air bnb than a BnB. Nothing wrong with this but it’s not as transparent online.
Steven
Quiet and comfortable
Super comfortable room. Beautiful house. Everyone was quiet the night I stayed there. Walking distance to the central district. The sun room off the Riverside Suite has a nice table for work and the territorial view is quite pleasant. Would stay there again.
Richard
Beautiful room, good price easy access.

Homey bed and breakfast feel without the early communal breakfast meal. Absolutely loved our time there!
tracy
This is such a cute place. Check in was super easy, and we're loving it!
David
Uncomfortable chairs on porch. No hand/body lotion.
Summer
Exceeded our expectations! The photos do not do justice! After staying here, I could never go back to a traditional hotel. We didn’t want to leave our room! The views, the character, and cozy atmosphere were out of this world. The complimentary breakfast was at a separate location, but was the cherry on top of an amazing stay! WE CANT WAIT TO VISIT AGAIN!
Alexis
Beautiful, stayed in the carriage house didn't make it into the main house. Was disappointed that the breakfast wasn't at the house. Breakfast was at the Lowell inn a couple blocks away reservation was required. Didn't see anywhere on the website that breakfast would be else where. Probably wouldn't have booked as it defeats the purpose for us.
Patrick
Beautiful large rooms - amazing space
Robin
Aurora Staples Inn was a great stay
Very clean accommodations, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast at the Lowell Inn was great.

steeped in history the in lay wood work is spectacular.

Cute inn
This is our second stay here with my daughter as a mom-daughter overnight. The inn is pleasant and the location is great. The room was too hot, which made it difficult to sleep at times. The St. Croix suite was lovely. Would stay there again. I do miss the morning breakfast as the breakfast at the nearby restaurant was lacking.
Tom
Nice place, and would stay again!
Stay was very good. The hot tub in the room is actually a luke warm tub. However I kind of understand, as hot water would probably create moisture problems in the room over time. Very well kept historic house. The chocolates when entering, and in the room are a nice touch. Nice place!
Natan
Everything was excellent, just matrace was too soft for us
Sandra
We really liked the room with the big tub. It was spacious and comfortable.
Carla
There was no staff on site. It was too far from downtown.
Steven
The room was clean and well appointed. The wifi did not stay connected to my ipad. Which was disappointing. Everything else was great.
Surbhi
This is the nicest place we have ever stayed in Stillwater. I take my mom for a “Stillwater Sleepover” once a year for her birthday present. It’s a special tradition, and since we live in Minneapolis, it’s easy. We like trying new places, but now we will always stay here! The place is gorgeous, the quiet hospitality is amazing, and the location is perfect. We found our place!
Heidi
My husband and I are staying for a little anniversary get away. Amazing experience! The rooms are beautiful, immaculately clean, and there are thoughtful little touches for guests throughout. I’m 28 weeks pregnant with twins and the jetted tub has given me life!
Tory
The Aurora Staples Inn is a beautiful home. If you are looking for a quiet charming place not too far from downtown Stillwater, this is perfect. Our room and bathroom were beautiful.
Brooke
Nice property
Eric
Had a nice, short stay celebrating our anniversary. Easy to find and nice to have parking provided. The contactless check-in was a breeze. Everything at the property appeared to be very well maintained, was clean and felt very Victorian. Enjoyed our stay in the Riverview suite. Loved the porch! Overall our stay was comfortable and quiet, just what we needed. Short walk to main street/lift bridge area.
Carrie
Beautiful home. Everything was well maintained. I highly recommend and will for stay there again.
anne
Loved this property! Great location, quiet, wonderful coffee bar and breakfast was the best we've had at a B&B!
Alex
Beautiful property. Very convenient contactless check-in process.
Jack
We had a great time and would like to stay there again.
Darrel
We loved the historical details of the Inn. The bed was very comfortable and the room details were amazing! Historical pictures and books available in every room which takes you back to what life may have been like at the turn of the century.
Monique
The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The best part was taking a bubble with with the fireplace on. I can't wait to go back.
Laura
Very clean and pleasant. Two blocks away from the main downtown area in Stillwater. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed.
James
The carriage House was awesome; spacious, meticulously period decorated, lots of lighting, a very capable fireplace, comfortable bed and an abundance of seating. The private parking was just another wonderful perk.
Amy
We had such a great time. Loved the house! We were a bit disappointed at first when we found out they didn’t actually have the breakfast there. We had to leave and go to another inn for breakfast, but the Lowell Inn is historic and the food was amazing, plus it was just a five minute walk down the street. I would definitely stay again.
Korey
Our stay was very comforting and enjoyable. Easy walk to dt Stillwater.
Katherine
Such a charming inn! But squeaky floors and doors like one would expect in a historic home. No on-site breakfast. No bathroom door! Just a curtain! If you would like to immerse yourself in Victorian decor, this place is for you.
TRINH
There is mold odor that is so not comfortable to stay en enjoy
Deb
Beautiful, comfortable room. Made my stay very enjoyable!
Robert
Awesome
Fantastic place. Wonderful two night stay. Will definitely return
Daniel
It was quiet and comfortable.
Richard
Beautiful property in a good location
Dane
Nice, historic building and setting. Modern amenities were very nice. I didn't see or personally talk to any staff or management on site. Jesus fish on the sign in front of the building, so watch your rights.
Josh
Very beautiful room and grounds. I would suggest stocking more espresso for keuring and having a better option for drinking water available.
Charlotte
We stayed in the beautiful carriage house. Great location to downtown Stillwater.
Would return for another visit.
Would return for another visit.

In a quiet, neighborhood this stately old home was a pleasure to stay at. From our bedroom and our little second floor sunroom, we had a view over the beautiful St. Croix River Valley. A parking lot next to the house made it easy to get off the street and bring bags into the house. We loved it.

Outstanding experience
Wonderful and memorable stay. Unique and beautiful property. Comfortable surroundings and a short walk to everything.
Dani
Very nice room and comfortable bed. We had a jacuzzi in our room, which was nice, too! Since there was no breakfast served, they provided a gift card for that. It was a great perk but would've preferred breakfast there. They seem to be keeping up Covid protocols longer than other businesses.
Verified traveler
Enjoyed our stay! Beautiful room with antiques and special touches. Enjoyed using the jetted bathtub. The off-site breakfast was delicious and an easy walk or drive.
Verified traveler
Our stay was amazing. Contactless check in worked without a problem.
Scott
Everything was exactly as stated. Due to COVID-19 the property owners offered a gift card for breakfast to a local establishment. It was very nice. The room was clean, quiet, and we had a wonderful time. Would go back again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful
The Aurora Staples Bed & Breakfast is beautiful! My wife couldn't stop taking about how amazing the room was. Downtown Stillwater is a short walk away, so it was a perfect spot for us. Hope to stay here again someday!
Lisa C.
Beautiful place and excellent food
This property is so charming and beautiful. It looks exactly like the pictures. The location is perfect. It's close to the main street in Stillwater. They made me the most amazing vegan breakfasts. She asked me on check in if I had any dietary restrictions and I was just planning on not having breakfast but when I mentioned I was vegan, she accommodated it on the spot and with delicious food. We could not have been happier with our stay.
Tyler
it would be cool to see the basement!!
Samyual P
The room was spacious , the food was delicious. The owners and chef was very friendly . We were thankful we didn’t have to carry our food tray downstairs .
Thomas
Such a lovely Victorian home! The host was so gracious and made us feel welcome and comfortable.
Our room had a small sun porch with a view of the St. Croix river - the kind of room where you could read, relax, play a board game and in general just decompress!
The amenities were first class and the condition of the property is excellent.
We will definitely come back!

This is a beautiful Victoria Home. We loved the sun porch! We ate breakfast out there each morning. The breakfasts were delicious and very filling!

The Victorian decor was very nice. The wifi connection didnt work for me. The breakfast was excellent. All in all it was a very fun stay.

Nice B and B
Breakfast in the room was good, especially due to Covid safe practices. Nice welcome and lovely snack for two hungry people who had just cycled 39 miles to Stillwater. Loved the jacuzzi. Comfortable bed. Suggest turning off the outdoor light overnight as it was bright through the bedroom window even though the blind was down.

Very romantic, cute Victorian inn. Our room was wonderful with an added sun porch and jacuzzi tub. We were greeted with wine, cheese and crackers and fruit and the next day there was an amazing breakfast. We celebrated our anniversary and the setting was perfect. Highly recommend!
