It's not bad of a hotel. The room I was in was very dark and small and debatable if its worth the price to me. It was clean. The hotel should offer better parking options, nearby parking is 30-50$ while this hotel charged 85-95$ which is not accomadating to guests.

Unfortunately our beds were on the soft side which wasn’t comfortable, the TV wouldn’t work all the time and would get very glitchy for minutes at a time and the worst part was that there were street lights RIGHT outside our window and the curtains were not setup to completely close so it was so bright all night it was so frustrating.

Checked in on a Friday afternoon - first room they gave me had not been cleaned. Went to the front desk and was placed in a different room - no AC, clogged sink, holes in the curtains. Disgusting. Went to the front desk and waited 20+ minutes for a manager, who said they would refund me and I could book somewhere else. It has now been two weeks and I have not received a refund, and they will not answer any emails. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Stylish room, comfortable bed, modern bathroom. The only complaint we had was the loud banging of the elevator doors every few minutes. Free coffee was very good - breakfast not included. The area was nice, safe, quiet, and conveniently located. We would stay here again.

The housekeeping team took my dirty clothes and all my medicine and toiletries out of my room halfway through my stay. I complained to the front office manager, who assured me a manager would call me the next day. But no one called and my things are still missing.

This property was a nightmare. Dirty bathroom, broken shower, leaking toilet, dirty floors. Even after requesting assistance it still wasn’t fixed. Wish we’d gotten honest reviews from other travelers. The bathroom was so tiny and unkempt. For the price there is no excuse.

I was quite surprised because the room looked very different from the photos. When I checked in, some towels had visible stains, and I found about five different types of hair on the bedsheets, which was very upsetting.
Also, I understand it was a Friday night, but the soundproofing was non-existent. I had to deal with loud music from downstairs until past 2 AM. While the location is great, I’d recommend spending a bit more to stay at a well-known hotel chain instead. Definitely not worth the price.\"

My partner and I stayed here Valentines Day weekend. Great location, just a few minute walk to Grand Central station. The decorations in the room are modern and lighthearted, nice vibe. We had an especially nice experience in the restaurant with a waitress who made us feel very welcome both before we headed to our Broadway play and again afterwards when we stopped by for a nightcap. It was really a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again!

We were only here for one night. It is in a great location. The room was spacious enough for three people with two queen beds. Bathroom was larger than expected. Everything worked and was clean. Free water bottles available. Staff at check in desk were kind and helpful. I can't think of anything that wasn't good!

Mini bar stocked well with water when room was cleaned. Fresh towels etc.
There is no breakfast but do have free tea/coffee in the mornings.
Staff all super friendly and happy to help.
Hotel was in a perfect area for us to explore the city.

Overall cleanliness of rooms was disappointing. Stains on carpet and walls, with bathroom needing updated due to mould in grout parts of the shower. Even found a previous customers sock between the bed and air con.

We have very mixed feelings overall.

Starting with the good: convenient location, nice room (direct view of the Empire State Building), free coffee in the mornings, most staff were friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, our stay didn't end well. We asked reception if they could order a taxi for us to the airport (as it's not impossible for foreigners to use the app for this) and were quoted the regulated price. To our surprise, at the agreed time a standard car showed up instead of a taxi. While this already wasn't what we agreed on, things got weirder as we noticed the driver discussing a kickback from our trip - probably explaining why we didn't get a taxi as requested. Not necessarily a problem on its own, but it felt like we didn't get what we asked for for personal gain. To make things worse, when we said we would pay by card, we were told we had to pay more then - not something that would have happened with a taxi and felt both unfair and dodgy. As the cherry on the cake, there was no tip option below 25% / couldn't enter a custom amount - while this is an epidemic in the US, it felt especially ridiculous as we were already paying more than what was agreed and how much the taxi's regulated price would have been.

Renwick charges extremely high resort fees, which were never disclosed during the booking process.

There are no amenities and the resort fee list literally just an insult because-we-can fee to people who make the poor decision to stay here.

Save your money and select a hotel that tries to earn your business without shafting you at every turn.

My daughter and I had a lovely 4 night stay at The Renwick. It’s a great location - about a 5 minute walk from Grand Central and on a quiet street (for Manhattan). The room was huge with 2 very comfortable double beds and a balcony (room 1506). Also, free bottles of water in the room each day.
The staff were very friendly and although we didn’t eat in the hotel, the restaurant and bar was always busy which is a good sign.
If we’re visiting again, we’d definitely stay there again.

I had a queen room, the room was pretty small but the size was totally fine for one person. The bed was very comfy! The room and bathroom were clean.
I could hear a little bit neighbors when they were entering or exiting the room eg the door to the corridor is not well soundproofed. Other than that it was pretty quiet. I was on the 15th floor and elevator could be a bit of a wait in bus times. Overall good experience and would definitely be back.

We arrived early and the front desk staff had a room ready. We had a 1-bedroom suite with a pull out couch for our daughter. We asked for additional blankets for the bed and a kettle to make tea in the morning and both items were brought up quickly. The staff was great! The room was clean, but some areas a little worn (scuffed walls - minor cosmetics, etc). The central location is perfect - easy to get around town and close to shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend!

I would’ve given a four star review for this hotel, but the lack of customer service on the billing charge turned it into a one star review. Instead of treating my family to a fun stress free getaway we had to deal with all kinds of credit card holds on three different cards just because my family arrived a few hours before me and checked in early. Instead of the full cost of the hotel going on my card as I had requested two other cards were charged for the full weekend of a stay, not even an incidental hold, which would be understandable or even at the most one nights stay for the hold. But 3 fulls nights. And not just a pending charge that would clear eventually, but the full room and three nights was charged to the wrong card and five days later has still not been resolved.

Not the fault of the staff who were nice and helpful but the hotel overall needs to do better here. I travel often and I’ve never had an issue like we had this weekend.

Aside from that, the hotel was clean. The staff was helpful and the location was wonderful. If you do stay here there is a great coffee place right next-door and an amazing bagel place around the corner.

But what a headache good grief.

Unfortunately due to the copious amounts of snow I couldn't use the balcony much but I did open it for fresh air and could absolutely see enjoying my coffee out on that in the morning. That was such a delight! The room was very nice good water pressure there were a couple scuffs on the furniture here and there but it was an overall good condition and I slept fine. The hotel has a really cute artsy vibe to it that I appreciate in the gym was actually impressive for Manhattan hotel. Well one that is not a giant chain but even the chains have had disappointing ones. I love that they include the couple free bottles of water that are refillable, and the fridge in the room was helpful. I did not avail myself of the free coffee because I just kept a couple iced lattes in my own fridge.

The nicest part honestly was the staff that the staff was so incredibly nice there they recognized me when I came back always opened the doors just generally a really pleasant stay I'll definitely stay here again.

The room was very clean. We had a view from the 10th floor of the top of the Empire State Building. Loved the area right around the hotel too. It was quiet and cool. As far as the “bar” that was part of the hotel, it was very cool but outrageous in price even for NYC! Other than that we were very satisfied and would recommend this historic boutique hotel.

The room was in great condition, lovely shower but the shower only ran boiling hot (no in between).
The TV channels could have been more updated with streaming options and extra channels for those who love to stay inside and enjoy the hotel room.
My only issue is the valet parking. I was told at check in since I have a standard size vehicle that the nightly rate would be $75. When I checked out they charged $85 per night, and when I asked about it , I was told a manager has to get involved when they clearly had the description of what size vehicles cost what on the backboard behind their desk.
Now I’ve been calling repeatedly about my refund and I’m getting no answer .
Overall this is why I give it a 3.5.
