I stayed 4 days at this hotel and messaged them prior to my arrival asking that they provide me the best room available. A 4 night stay was C$1617– $400+ per night.

I was brought behind the bar to a room, 3A, which, while it had an ocean view there was a concrete barrier and no beach access. Being beside the bar was also very unpleasant as the music was blaring and made it impossible to sleep. The room also did not have a television. one of the sinks would not drain, and the bathroom window did not close—which was unsettling as I could see right into the bar from the bathroom. The Safe was also inoperable.

I informed the front desk that I was not happy with my room and of all the deficiencies. They accommodated my request to move, but insisted that I sign a document suggesting that they were doing so to “better my stay” not because the room was deficient. I was also asked to leave my room and not move into my new room until after check-in at 3 pm, such that I was denied access to a room during the day.

I moved to room 41 which was significantly better and more in line with the photos advertised on their website. The difference between the two rooms is astounding.

They also charged $10 USD extra per day when I arrived and for coffee pods when I checked out— there wasno warning that coffee was not included in the room

Despite the fact that as a VIP/Platinum member, and entitled to a room upgrade, I believe I was given one of their worst beachfront rooms.

We upgraded our room to ocean front with mini pool. The mini pool didn’t have jets (looked like they have jets but apparently it was not functioning at all).

The room was clean and bed was comfortable. It needs minor maintenance, however. The cabinets were dusty, one of the cabinet doors didn’t have a knob, one of the taps was spraying water all over when you turn it on, so we can only use the other tap.
The towels were worn out and had stains.

The nespresso coffee cups were not complimentary (they charged $360 MXCN for 6), water was also not complimentary. Theu don’t even have milk available to use for coffee. We didn’t eat at the onsite restaurants, so I don’t know if the food is good.

The beach area were the beach chairs where was always disorganized. Everything were all over the place. Nobody seemed to arrange them nicely.

We didn’t go in the water, it didn’t look appealing. Beach was full of sargassum.

The resort grounds is nice overall, surrounded with plants and trees.

The staff are friendly and helpful.

The hotel is very pretty and definitely great for pictures. The AC worked well, hot water was always available, and the front desk consistently answered when needed.

However, there were some major downsides. Because the hotel is on the beach, ants did get onto the bed, which was uncomfortable. The shower and toilet area also had windows with no covers, which felt awkward and lacking privacy.

The food at the restaurants we tried was not good and extremely overpriced. One experience was especially disappointing — at the restaurant near the beach with the pool and mirror, I ordered a Sex on the Beach drink and found a fly in my cup. Despite this, the drink was still added to my bill.

Overall, the hotel looks nice but the issues with cleanliness, privacy, and food quality made the stay less enjoyable.

Bare in mind, this was our first trip to Mexico. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The front desk helped us to atrange airport transport and a tour. The room was clean and well cared for. It was wonderful having a small private \"yard\" and also being steps from the beach. Food on the premises was limited, expensive and the portions were extremely small. Bottled water was not provided.

Extremely overpriced and disappointing. I paid approximately $600 per night and the room, bathroom, and overall facilities did not come close to justifying the price. Despite the high rate, there was no breakfast, no complimentary bottled water, and one night there was no running water at all, which is unacceptable.

Noise was a major issue. Loud music was clearly audible inside the room, and on 12/31, the music continued until 8:00 AM on 1/1, making it impossible to rest.

There is no pool or gym. The beach and restaurant areas were small and plain, offering nothing that warrants such a high price.

The refund policy was also confusing and concerning. I booked a four-night stay and selected an option that was refundable. The booking confirmation stated that cancellations before 6:00 PM on December 24, 2025 would not be charged. However, after booking, the reservation showed as non-refundable. It is unclear whether this issue originated with Hotels.com or the hotel (Maya Tulum), but this lack of transparency is unacceptable.

Charging over $600 per night under these conditions is unreasonable and outrageous.

The service staff was not polite in the slightest. It is not shown as advertised in the photo. There was no running water for over 12 hours with no offer of drinking water. Another individual of our party had no running hot water for the entirety of our trip and this included two different rooms he stayed in. When asked regarding wifi or television (that is offered on different booking sites and their own individually owned website) was told they did renovations and will not be receiving them. They told someone else it hasn’t arrived yet. It just felt like one lie after another. For the price you are better of to go somewhere else. Expedia did the best they could a was accommodating considering the hotel would do nothing. Hope you don’t have to speak to management because they will never come nor will they answer to Expedia

Rooms were clean and cool, ,beach furniture was unkept, dirty and some items broken all along property. Breakfast was fresh and service was great at their restaurant highly recommend tostadas de pescado al pastor. The bad issue first day of our stay the water for shower/ toilet was out for 4 hours, later restored but it happened again the following day too. Don’t think will come back since front desk management only said water would be restored with no alternate as a complimentary drink nothing

The two-room with plunge pool was great and spacious. The hotel is very organic and unique. My only complaint was the AC, it was difficult to get the mini split to get to a comfortable temperature. Beds were comfortable. Dining options are a little far. Transportation is expensive. Onsite restaurant is quite good and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

It is seaweed season from April to August. The brown algae went on for about 10 metres along the beach and gave off the smell of sulphur. It was not swimmable. Excursions had to be paid in cash but the ATM on the property wasn't working. I had to pay a driver $70.00 just to take me to and from town which was a 10 minute drive just to get enough cash to pay for all of the excrusions. They would not accpet credit card. The toilet in my room tried to be fixed 2 times and some essentials like body wash was missing. The lights didn't work in the shower, the shower head didn't work properly (just trinkling down) and shower gel was missing...eventually they moved my room. When I asked for bottle water at 8:30 am, they said it was none available...it was finally delivered to me at 11:00 am.

The property was very nice overall. But the best part was the staff, very kind, responsive, and accommodating. Roberto in the restaurant was absolutely awesome. He was welcoming and attentive and even brought the kids a basket of donuts for national donut day. Worth coming back just for staff interactions. The front desk was always helpful and helped us to book transportation, car rental, excursions, seamlessly.

My boyfriend and I got the Oceanfront king bed mini pool room. The initial room we got was not what we expected and was nowhere pictured on Expedia or their website. You can tell it was an older room and hadn’t been updated to the standards of their other rooms. We asked to be moved to the room we actually paid for and they moved us no problem. On our last night we did find a cockroach in our bathroom and there was a blood stain on our sheet. Note before booking that the AC isn’t that strong so the only cool area of the room will be the bed. Everywhere else is pretty hot. Other than that the 2nd room we got was super nice and I loved the private outdoor mini pool.

Lo positivo:
•La ubicación es excelente, a un paso de numerosos restaurantes y tiendas del centro.
•El personal es muy atento y siempre dispuesto a ayudar con una sonrisa.
•El área de la piscina es amplia, limpia y muy agradable para relajarse.

Lo negativo:
•Al llegar me ofrecieron un servicio de transporte tres veces más caro que el que pude conseguir por mi cuenta.
•Existen cargos ocultos (“fees”) que sólo se revelan y cobran al hacer el check-in.
•La habitación es muy sencilla: la cama, aunque grande y cómoda, está flanqueada por poca iluminación y el aire acondicionado no enfría lo suficiente.
•Me pareció inusual que el café en la habitación no estuviera incluido: cada cápsula de Nespresso costaba casi 100 MXN, cuando en la mayoría de hoteles este servicio es gratuito.

We booked a room with the jungle view and a private pool and upon checking in we were immediately upgraded to an ocean front room, private swimming pool right outside our front door with lounge chairs and the beach was literally 10 feet away from the fence on the front of our own private yard. It was an amazing experience, the hotel was fantastic, I don’t have one negative thing to say about the entire stay, the staff and everything were amazing. 5 out of 5 stars

A nice beachside resort. units included outdoor space and a hammock. No efforts were taken to clear the huge volume of sargassum which detracted from the beach. Taco restaurant was good. Included breakfast was minimalist, but menu items were generous and well made. Front desk staff was helpful. The crowd was generally younger (20-30s) with a few families. A pleasant getaway!

I love this place. Your own cottage on the beach with a price little pool. The staff try their hardest. The poop is beautiful as is the beach club. The beach 🏖️ is spectacular. The best thing about the area is the peace and not bust.
Unfortunately they have opened up the resort to a taco stand and little bar with a band stand. This is a huge mistake. The public now access the beach via the route to the taco stand. The number of people on the beach is too much due to the public access. Also the bandstand is right next to the best accommodate and creats way to much noise. I hope they close the taco stand and add a nice Mexican restaurant. This would close off the public access and the resort would go back to being peaceful

For Canadians this is an incredible resort. Much better than Florida. Having your own little house right on the beach is a dream. The sawgrass is not as big of an issue as reported.
If you need customer service by phone prior to arrival good luck The posted numbers do not work or go to the booking agent.
Love this place and will return.

Property is good, ocean view room is amazing but stuff at the beach club is inattentive, do not speak English, only feel people by the pool and restaurant and still you have to get up and ask for the check. They do not understand English. I asked for a simple glass and ice and they did not understand. Receptionists the only great one was Fernando, friendly and attentive, with great customer service.

This hotel is rustic but charming. Tulum is very expensive to stay and to dine. But the Maya hotel offers some of the most affordable dining options within the property. It’s not very close to the more busy area of Tulum and that’s what I wanted. However, taxis are a rip off, so if you don’t have your own transportation it is a bit far and the roads and side walks of awful. But the hotel is very cool.

Beautiful and clean, but with issues

Nice hotel, very clean, but with clear issues of maintenance or age. My room had problems with the key that was not working properly and my sink faucet had no warm water. Other family members had issues with the toilet plumbing and roaches. The rooms we occupied had very little light (artificial or natural) were dark to a point where I had to use my phone's light to get things done. All outdoor furniture showed signs of heavy wear and tear and could use fixing and maintenance. The hotel's restaurant was ok, with a limited menu.

This said, on the positive side, the hotel's gardens and public areas were incredibly well tended and beautiful. The employees were all extremely friendly and helpful, and the hotel's WhatsApp concierge service was a blessing; we used them to organize several excursions.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but for the price, we would have expected to have less issues with the rooms and infrastructure. The management needs to step up their game.

Very dim rooms, noisy and requires renovation. Water is not fresh and hot water was not available at some time. Bathroom and shower are not private cabinets with no windows but an inlet with a mesh net where you can hear the noisy road and beach all night. Last is the walking distance between cabins is sandy rather than having some concrete to facilitate movement and lessens the sand being carried to rooms, but that's just a personal preference.

I’m incredibly disappointed with my stay

Firstly when we arrived the toilet was blocked and urine in it instantly, so it clearly wasn’t cleaned properly. Someone did come to unblock it but it shouldn’t have been left like that for arrival

-the smell off the surrounding area of the rooms smells of sewage which obviously isn’t very pleasant

-I found the staff in general quite unhelpful and unfriendly. Last night (room 42) was having a party, I messaged concierge several times to which nobody replied around midnight, the service is 24 hours and whoever is in charge of the WhatsApp had been online and ignored my messages. I then called reception and was told I’d be called back in a minute.. I was not called back.

After reporting our neighbours I think about 6 times and nothing changed I had to get out of my bed and go to reception. The man on reception then said he’d come with me to the neighbours, this made me feel quite unsafe, why would I want to confront the disruptive drunk neighbours?

They were given a warning and the noise continued, the music got louder. I messaged the WhatsApp again and was ignored, I did not sleep all night and felt unwell and was annoyed I’ve paid double the amount you normally charge for your rooms, I understand because of the festive period, but this made the experience even more upsetting to be paying this amount and having such a disruptive experience.

They also owe me £200 check in fee I was told I’d get back.

AVOID THIS HOTEL.

What a joke.

Staffing is an issue from what we can see right from the start. The breakfast was always out of coffee, staff struggled to get tables cleaned off once others were done and trying to get your cheque, event to just sign it to your room, had a line up due to only one credit card machine and staff trying to do other tasks.
The first few nights sleep were good, listening to the waves while you sleep. Then on night 3, the bar (which happens to be owned separately from the resort begin blasting music at 8am. After repeated requests to stop, they continued and we were told they don't manage the bar. We were then warned that the bar had a 36 hour booze and drug fest planned for new years eve day and new years day. It was a horrible experience and our estimation is that the guests were not even staying on resort. I like to party and celebrate but by 3am, the noise was overwhelming and we had to demand to be moved into a hut on the far side of the resort to try and get some sleep as we had a fishing excursion booked for the morning. When we got up to go fishing and return our original room, there was literally drunken people sleeping on the steps of the bar and in the sand at 8am. Ultimately, the fact that the bar is a separate business and has competing interests from the hotel and their guests, has this place full of undesirables. I won't get into all the issues with cartel controls of cabs and bars in the area now, but this is our 3rd trip to Tulum in 6 years and will be our last.

Outdoor Area of the resort is beautiful and maintained very well.

It smelled moldy in our room and the water coming out of the shower was salty. Also the drain pipe smelled very weird.

Breakfast is horrible, we had dinner once in the resort and the food was served cold. Would not recommend eating there.

Few things we didn’t like:
-the smell in the room was like mold, not easy to breath
-the water in the sink and shower is salty
-there were many bugs in the bathroom floor and room/bed
-the tissue box was empty
-outlet very soggy/ not cleaned
-sink water leaking if not opened on high jet.
-the restaurant that offered breakfast the staff wasn’t nice and I asked for fresh juice, they said it’s fresh but it was from concentrate. We both didn’t drink it and had to pay $10 US for it because they said we can’t send it back. That was not nice!

I would not return here ever again. Staff is not friendly. The wellness Manager Eduardo attempted to over charge us for an activity because a corporate employee would be participating and when I questioned the price Eduardo informed me staff does not pay. There also was some sort of animal who scratched our roof nightly although understandable since we are in the jungle. We couldn’t get past having some sort of rodent poop drop from the ceiling daily. Front desk was so unapproachable we did not feel comfortable saying anything. They stopped engaging with us after we decided not to participate in ceremony. The only gem at this place is Rosario from the spa. Other than that their food is mediocre at best. This place has so much potential but definitely needs new staff.

The property is just beautiful! The staff is great! BUT******* they did charge me for additional fees outside of expedia, one was some type of Mexican tax and the other said restaurant wich I never used because i ate only breakfast and that was free and included, another big issues 2 out of 3 days of my stay they lost complete power and water for about 3 hours

The staff (especially Coco) are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms, beach, pools are incredible 👍
In my opinion, this is an affordable 5 ⭐️ property and not a $300-$400 all inclusive overpriced tourist trap. Food and drink prices are reasonable, which is great for those who only drink lightly, and don’t need a 24/7 all You can eat buffet.
If youre happy lounging at the pool/bar steps to the white sands beach, eating fresh guacamole, grilled fish tacos and drinking a few cervezas 🍻? Then this is a place for you 😎👍

Un hotel hermoso, la estética y el concepto que manejan son espectaculares, cuentan con la playa más linda que he visto, desde que llegamos nos hicieron sentir como en casa, una bienvenida y un trato muy ameno por el equipo de recepción, nuestra habitación era muy cómoda y agradable, la comida era excelente, varias opciones muy deliciosas en todos sus restaurantes y a muy buen precio, así como sus bebidas muy variadas.
Por otro lado el servicio del personal fue increíble, muy amables y serviciales en todo momento, hicieron esta experiencia muy agradable.
El Spa fue maravilloso, fue muy relajante el trato por parte de los masajistas fue muy agradable y los servicios que ofrecen son excelentes.
Sin duda es un lugar muy acogedor para relajarse y disfrutar de la tranquilidad de sus instalaciones.

Our recent overnight visit to Maya Tulum by G Hotel was truly delightful. Right from the start, we felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of, making our short escape a memorable one.

We arrived early in the morning, well before the usual check-in time of 3 pm. However, Ricardo, a friendly member of the staff, made sure we could settle in early, allowing us access to our room by 11 am, which was a pleasant surprise.

Throughout our stay, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. They took great care of us, ensuring that our needs were met and that we had everything we required for a comfortable stay.

The room was spotless, with every detail carefully attended to. We especially enjoyed the private jacuzzi, which was clean and set to the perfect temperature for relaxation. Ricardo kindly showed us around the area, making sure we were happy with everything before leaving us to enjoy our stay.

Although our visit was short, it left a lasting impression. We're already planning our next trip back with our 2-year-old son and my wife. As owners of a travel agency in Paris and Miami, we'll definitely be recommending Maya Tulum by G Hotel to our clients, knowing they'll have a fantastic experience.

Overall, our time at Maya Tulum by G Hotel was characterized by excellent service, cleanliness, and tranquility. We're looking forward to returning to this wonderful destination soon.

The concept of this place is nice, but there is so much seaweed that it is almost unswimmable (although not their fault by any means, but we had no idea it’d be like that)

Restaurant is only open for 3 hours/day for breakfast and the food was not great.

Good place with a nice view, but pricey.

The place was amazing and relaxing. Lighting in the place is really low, probably for the wildlife in the area, so be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp if you want to find anything inside after dark. Also, check the pricing for the minibar as the half bottle of meh champaign is over $100US.
