I went with my partner and we loved our room. The food at the sushi bar and tago restaurant was really good. Staff was so helpful and friendly. They gave us tun down service every night with sweet treats. The shower was the best shower out of the 4 hotels we visited on this trip. Great water pressure, spacious and the quality of the water was so good. Skin felt smooth and not dried out. They offered wash clothes, robes, slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste. If I had to offer a critique, the entrance of our room was underwhelming. It was not very clean or appealing. It distracted from how nice the rooms were. The beach was not usable because of the seaweed. I think they should have someone clean it up. However, Tago was a very convenient location. Will recommend.

The rooms are gorgeous, clean and quite spacious. The service by everyone was excellent and the complimentary evening dessert delivery to your door everyday was a really nice touch.
What was not great was we were quite disappointed with the beach area. It looks nothing like the photos that they have on the Expedia listing photos. It’s very small and cramped and it would appear no effort has been made to clear even a pathway to the water with all the seaweed. Many other hotels had workers out every morning at least trying to haul it away. If you are wanting to spend time on the beach at the hotel and that is important to you I would look for a different place to stay.

The hotel is beautiful, we loved utilizing the pool / hot tub. The staff, Emmanuel, was the best, he showed hospitality from greeting us with drinks, taking our suitcases, giving us recommendations, hailing a cab and trying to translate for us. The staff were amazing and the service was impeccable. The room was divine with space and layout. Overall, would highly recommend for a stay.

The only downfall was it was a lot of seaweeds on the beach.

I don’t even know where to begin—this hotel in Tago is absolutely incredible. We actually stayed here last year, and we loved it so much that we came back again this year and chose the exact same place. That alone says everything.

It has such a cute, chill boutique hotel vibe that makes it feel special and personal from the moment you arrive. The staff makes you feel so welcome and taken care of—everyone is genuinely kind, attentive, and goes above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable.

The restaurants are fantastic, with amazing food and a great atmosphere that makes every meal feel like a treat. Everything about this hotel is just over the top in the best way possible—the service, the experience, and the attention to detail. It truly feels like a place you never want to leave.

We already can’t wait to go back again. I would highly, highly recommend it to anyone considering staying in Tago.

The view from our partial ocean view suite was amazing! The private pool was perfect temperature to cool down. The area is very walkable, or bikeable. We opted to walk some days but also rented a moped to zip around downtown. The staff was more than accommodating, anything and everything you could want they got for you. The beach chairs, and beds are both great options. There is beach service that I loved while relaxing in the sun you could order a pina colada right to your sun bed. I will definitely stay here again next time we visit. (also they leave you messages by your room for the morning, and night. and leave desserts in your room at nighttime :)

We had the ocean front master room and it was probably the best room to opt for. We thankfully had the sun shining on our private pool. The pool warmed naturally from the sun which made it pleasant. Very clean. The other rooms with pools did not look like they had much sunlight. There is a small additional fee upon arrival that you pay(70USDfor us during the five night stay). Expedia gave us credit to use there which was great. The valet was very good. They offer a free welcome drink at arrival which was a nice touch after traveling. Just ensure that if you pay cash or leave a cash tip, keep your receipts. I tried to just use credit card and did not apply food or beverages to my room. The staff were nice and friendly and helpful. Still, people try to make extra money so just keep a record of things. The beach area was smaller but very clean and no seaweed where TAGO is located. The resort next door had a very nice restaurant and dining with ocean view inside or outside (highly recommended for vegan options. Just specify dietary restrictions). Tago only has a couple vegan options. Overall, we loved the suite. It was cozy and clean with a gorgeous view. Just note to not drink the shower or tap water but the hotel provides filtered water and you can make requests on WhatsApp.

What a great hotel! 20 min walk to the main action in Tulum. The jungle suite was spacious, and the private dip pool was hard to beat. The service and staff are great. I’d stay again.

I’d otherwise give 5 stars, but the staff gives mixed messages about how the Expedia credit works. It lead to the on site (but unaffiliated!) Fara Fara restaurant staff lying to us and telling us that they were included in the credit multiple time up until the moment the bill came. I needlessly spent money at that restaurant, starting my vacation off on a bad note. The hotel could be better about explaining what qualifies for the credit AND ensuring that unaffiliated restaurants do not lie to guests to scam them out of money. The hotel will not refund you for this, only keep open the existing unused credit for their affiliated services.

The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. There were a few issues such as the shower leaked out of the glass door, there was a leak under the sink onto the floor(which was repaired right away), and they had to change out the room safe as it would not work(which they did immediately). The staff is wonderful from the concierge to the bartenders. Most spoke English and were very willing to help with excursions and transportation. The parking lot is very small and you need to leave your car keys with the valet, as cars are frequently moved around to allow guests to come and go. The pool is the size of a large Jacuzzi without the Jets, but our room had a small pool on the balcony. Neither pool is large enough for swimming laps. The beach is very small, the water is warm, but there is lots of seaweed which detracts from swimming. There are 3 “restaurants” only one of which is run by the hotel. The other 2 are run by outside vendors. The sushi bar was good but there were cobwebs in the ceiling above where the food is prepped and cooked. One night we waited 45 minutes for dinner and we were the only ones there. The gym is VERY small and weights were probably 30 yrs old. The sauna and steam room were nice. There is a billiard room above the lobby with poor lighting, so you need to use during the day. There is a vacant property on one side of the hotel where we noticed a few people “camping” under a tarp with an air mattress and hammock. They did not disturb us.

Great place to stay in the Tulum hotel zone if you’re looking to relax. The hotel is quiet and away from the busier/loud clubs. However, you are still able to walk down the beach to some of the beach clubs. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The beds are very comfortable. The room was equipped with a Nespresso machine and mini bar. The pools in the room are beautiful and clean. Unfortunately, they are not heated so it was too cold for us to use during our stay. The hotel has great cabanas for guests to use on the beach and staff down on the beach to take orders. The hotel has a very small lot so recommend a small car or bike/scooter.

I had an amazing stay at Tago Hotel! The staff was incredibly attentive, especially Andrea, who answered all my questions in English since I don’t speak Spanish. She truly made everything easy and welcoming.

The food at Tago was delicious, and the nightly dessert delivered to our room was such a special touch—we looked forward to it every evening. The restaurant that’s part of Tago, right on the beach, was perfect for our beach days. The views were the best on the beach, hands down. The whole place has a quaint, boutique feel while still offering all the big-hotel amenities.

We also loved the restaurant Fara Fara. They made sure to get to know us, checked on us constantly, and the service was amazing. The food was the best—everything wholesome and cooked on the grill. We tried the ceviche, fish, steak, and the potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots… all absolutely to die for. Joshua and Rick were incredible.

Overall, Tago Hotel exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to return!

This was our first trip to tulum, and without a doubt, if we return, we are going to tago tulum again! A good friend of mine said it best: \"Cancun is just another US state\" - its a shame that Tulum in general is so expensive. To come from Sydney and find that food and drink is basically the same price as back home is a bit disappointing. If we go to Mexico again it will have to be a not so touristy part.

The food here was very overpriced for the mediocre quality, especially breakfast. The sargassum on the beach was creating an unpleasant odor. I understand that it is impossible to control nature however if there would have been minimal effort by staff a lot of it could have been cleaned up and the beach could have been enjoyable. The service received while at the beach was poor. In sum I don’t think I would stay here again.

We arrived at Tago around 1:30 and weren't sure where to park so we went to the lobby and asked. He told us to park next to the building which only has about 4 spots. Check in isn't until 3 but they were able to accommodate our earlier arrival time. When checking in there are pictures of a topless woman behind the desk which seems out of place.
As soon as you leave the front desk area there's sand everywhere. It's a sandy path to your room. When we got to the room I noticed the picture of naked people above the toilet and that the 2 extra locks on the door didn't appear to work (not even the chain). There also isn't a do not disturb sign. We asked the front desk how to turn on the pool and he said he'd send a guy over. About an hour later my husband called to say we didn't want it turned on any longer because we didn't think it would take someone that long to begin with. For some reason he comes to our room with the pool guy, unlocks our door and just walks right in without knocking.
The Ocean Front Suite is large however the furniture is beat up (the outdoor furniture is rusty), the glass doors don't seal very well so you can hear the music, dogs barking and road noise, the wifi is hit or miss and we had a scorpion on the curtain.
We had 3 nights booked but only stayed 2. Wasn't expecting toddlers since Expedia says guests under 18 are not permitted at this adults only property and you couldn't even enjoy the beach because of the rotting sargassum stench.

So the room were spectacular. The service fantastic, the food was delicious an the cocktails out of sight. the only thing that was a surprise is that when we wanted the outdoor pool was not always available. Of course the pool took about an 1.5 hours to get heated, but when we requested to have it turned on, we were never alerted that they would not end up doing it. So after a beautiful romantic walk back from dinner the pool was cold.....

A bit of a Debbie Downer since the pool is used in high lighting the property rooms.

I would still stay there again, but would ask for them to contact us if they will not be heated after we asked. The beach club was more then comfortable. EVERYONE went beyond the usual for great service.

Other then that, we had a magical time.

The hotel was fairly nice but the surroundings and smell from the beach was awful. The beach looked horrific because of the sludge and seamoss, which I assumed created the awful smell. There should be clear notifications posted on the hotel site regarding the beach area so that travelers are aware to ensure the stay is accommodating for them. You definitely could not enjoy the beach or the view

Well… I was there 2 weeks and The staff A+. Helpful and sweet. The bed A+ in comfort D- sheets. Sweating all night, but that is partly due to them shutting the ac off in the middle of the night. You can turn it back on but that means I woke up every night after 3:30 literally soaked, wet bed sheets and all to turn it back on. So 💩 sleep. The beach was piled with seaweed, I could have gotten over that if maybe the pool had more privacy. At 1st glance you will be impressed but upon examination it was semi- dilapidated. Stains on the white curtains, buckling patio boards. Etc. which again I could have overlooked if not for the ac and lack of warm water. Daily cold showers really blow. The water was not even on when I 1 st arrived, that took a few hours and by then I missed the activity I was going to. Messed up my whole 1 st day. 🚕 are starting at 35 usd just to go anywhere at all. So rent a car or ya… oh and food takes forever and is mostly mid for the price but I only tried a couple things. Oh and this is petty but a man definitely designed this space. No bidet, no removable shower head and 💩 lighting for vanity. So ya in all, I feel catfished. This is not whatever stars it claims. I feel bad telling the truth bc staff was so nice but ya. For like 120 less a night I would have been like ok ya.

I’m rating this property 5 stars because the rooms are wonderful!! The beds are very comfortable, bathroom is huge and the shutters make the room dark. The icing on the cake is the private pool in the patio! If you asked for the staff to warm it up, it stays on until 10pm and it’s the absolute perfect temperature. I’m not sure if all the upstairs rooms are the same but we were put initially in an upstairs room and the AC was via control and very weak, making the room hot. They immediately moved us downstairs and it was the perfect temperature with actual central air conditioning. The ambiance in the hotel was boring as not many people on the property. The beaches in tulum are ugly due to algae and the hotel pool is a joke, barely bigger than a jacuzzi. Also the hotel food is not that good. BUT like I said, perfect room with an amazing private pool. The hotel is within 1/2 mile from the main strip (1 mile from major clubs, 20 min walk). The area was very safe to walk even though the hotel is not right next to the action. Gym is also small but has weights up to 60 lbs dumbbells, cardio machine, bench and curl bars. The staff is very nice and even though we staid out late every night in the pool, they never said anything to us. I’d definitely stay here again.

The property itself was great. Right on the beach, the room had a private pool. It was a perfect getaway spot if you are looking to be a $20-30 ride away from the big parties. The staff was readily available to help via WhatsApp.

The rest of this list is not really the fault of the hotel but something travelers should be aware of:
-May through September is peak sargassum (type of seaweed) season so the beach and water are not really accessible.
-The constant reminder to tip and “tip is not included” was a bit annoying. It didn’t change my standard 20% tips but the frequency was annoying
-The hotel advertises as “LGBTQ+ friendly.” I’ll say they are “admitting” but not “friendly.” The little jokes and laughs each time an attendant would walk by or after taking an order was a bit childish. Granted, I wasn’t expecting PV- or MC-level friendliness in Tulum but this was unwelcome.

All that being said: hotel gets a 5; service 4; Tulum as an LGBT+ welcoming place gets a 2.

The property was excellent. The rooms were gorgeous and well serviced throughout our stay. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The 4 starts is purely for the fact that like everywhere in Tulum & southern Yucatán peninsula the sargassum seaweed was awful and made it impossible to swim in the ocean and smelled gross. No fault of the facility. One lady said it’s the worst she’s seen it in 12 years.
But the area was very slow as well which pro- we felt like royalty but definitely was not super ideal. Not really close to anything other than a couple of restaurants. No shopping.
The food at the hotel was TOP TIER. amazing. The octopus chips app thing was incredible.
Also the most comfortable hotel bed & pillows I’ve ever experienced

We liked the room it was spacious with a comfortable bed.
The bathroom had a large walk in shower which was great.
We did not like that the staff were more concerned about what tip you would give even for just putting a drink in front of you on the bar.
Even for the free breakfast we were presented with a zero bill and prompted to give a tip.
I found this most bizarre.
The seaweed on the beach made it very smelly not the hotel’s fault but there were no attempts to clear it in the 4 days we were there.
The beach bar/club was very shabby. Really just a hut with old wooden tables and chairs.
The outdoor pool although it looked a decent size in the advertising was really small!!
Quite a disappointing experience.
We did like Tulum town good restaurants and bars a reasonable prices.
The hotel bar was expensive.

Staying at Tago was a wonderful experience! Check in was smooth and easy, our room was ready upon arrival. It was cleaned everyday with a PM turndown refresh to which the cleaning staff left desserts! They were quick to deliver for any water bottle refresh requests (and we had a lot!)

Beach time was a lovely view with servers chronically checking in on you. There were plenty of seats and cabanas. I preferred the hotel restaurant (as opposed to Fara Fara), we frequented the guacamole and shrimp tacos. The drinks felt substantial and they ran specials each day (ex. 2x1 margs).
Every afternoon, Mercedes and staff would circulate with cold towels, snacks and offer to clean your sunglasses.

The reception area is small which made it easy for interactions with staff, it felt like the staff knew you. Our departing taxi arrived at least 15 mins early with help from the front desk, she gave us costs so we were aware ahead of time. Check out was also smooth.

This area of hotel-zone Tulum is about a 20 min walk from the nightclubs, which for us wasn’t a big deal. It’s quiet all day, clean and beautiful.

I think this property has done a great job with hospitality and I would absolutely stay here again! Thank you to the amazing staff at TAGO Tulum!!

This was our second trip to Tulum. We did really enjoy Tago and love the private pool in every room. We took advantage of this more than we thought we would. Our room was very clean, well appointed and many mini bar amenities. This area of the hotel zone is nice and a little more quiet yet close enough to walk. We rented scooter the whole time and found this to be the best means of transportation in the hotel zone.
Our only complaint is the AC did not work as well as it should have. We had maintenance come up to fix and it still was not working to capacity. It never got below 77°.
Overall we enjoyed just would have loved a little cooler AC.

Bugs were everywhere. In our bed, on the curtains, inside the little personal pool, on the furniture, etc. Everywhere! I have been waiting to post my review for some time, just to give Tago a chance to right there wrong but of course they didn’t. The pictures were beautiful online, but one thing that they don’t show are all the different species of bugs that comes along with your room. Absolutely no one wants to see bugs crawling on their bed and within our first hour of arriving to our room my wife sees two tiny little bugs wiggling across the sheets. I actually surprised her with a trip to Tulum for her birthday, so this was her special trip and Tago Tulum definitely ruined the first 2 days of it. I took pictures and videos of the bugs and showed the staff. They kind of blow it off and said that they would solve the problem while we went to grab some lunch. Once we got back to our room, we still seen bugs crawling on our bed. So I called down and asked for the staff to come look. They came and basically said “Oh you’re in the jungle, there will be bugs.” He flicked the bugs off our bed and that was it…WHAT!!! As it got darker outside, more bugs started to show up inside. It was the worse night of no sleep. The next morning we checked out and booked at the Hilton resort and it was extremely beautiful and absolutely no bugs in our room for the remainder of the trip. Tago Tulum refused to refund my money for the days we didn’t stay at the bug infested hotel.

I can’t wait to be back!

This place is a magical escape right to the beach! The service was so warm and genuinely great! From coming to the room with tea when they heard I was sick, to being genuinely happy to see us on their shifts (5 day stay). We stayed in the junior suite with the partial ocean view, which was more of a view than expected! The room was very romantic with the hot tub and double shower! Very comfortable bed! The beach is 76 steps away!! And then you’re at the beach club which has comfy cabanas and lounges as well as tables and chairs so you can enjoy dining with the full menu available! Sunset dinner on the beach?? The food was all very tasty and the margaritas were perfectly balanced. Everything was so clean and room service for everything we needed was quick! The location of the hotel is really great. Easy to get to fun restaurants and shops and a very short cab ride into central tulum.

Ok small and quiet hotel. Nice rooms with comfortable beds and good shower.
Service was slow, didn’t have many food items on the menu. Food is not good.
Our check out was awful, at 6:30, having told them the night before it still took 45 minutes to check out. Their process includes taking pictures of the room…very frustrating when you have a flight to catch.
Its not in walking distance to the restaurants and shops down the street, need to get a taxi.
There are better choices in Tulum ,we’re not going back.

From the moment we arrived, no detail was spared. Sergio was wonderful the second we arrived and it only got better from there. Our welcome drink was the Special Javier! Please ask for this. It is absolutely Delicious!!!
I can’t wait to return. Such an amazing place to stay. I miss it already. Their sauna is great too. They have a steam room also.

Where do I even start. If I could give the Hotel a 100/100, I absolutely would. The entire experience was incredible. Just to name a few; the cleanliness of the rooms and pool, ACs working great, attentiveness and genuineness of the staff, gorgeous surroundings, the separation from the sound and insanity of the hotel area gave it just the right amount of relaxation while still being absurdly close to everything (bars, clubs, restaurants).

Little things mattered too. They had these small details on how to keep the sand out of the room that stood out. Not to mention the really cool walking paths to the beach.

Would definitely stay again.

Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful. They truly take good care of their guests. The breakfast was delicious. I loved the beach backyard. Every day there was a treat left in the room. It's a nice hotel.
Cons: i had wait an hour before the room was ready. The pool was not clean. And the air conditioner was not working. At least we were offered a free drink while we waited. Overall we had a great stay I recommend this property.

The property was quiet and fairly well maintained. Our biggest issues were housekeeping (repeatedly stained bedding and inconsistency with replenishing towels) as well as items that were consistently unavailable at the hotel (room key shortage, no straws, certain vegetables unavailable for breakfast omelette, etc). Also the seaweed was overwhelming and made swimming difficult; while neighboring hotels had theirs raked regularly, our hotel only did it once during our 5 day stay. Very odd for a hotel that brands itself as a luxury boutique experience. We will not be back.

It was an absolutely wonderful hotel!!! A boutique hotel, so fairly small which made it very quiet and peaceful. Our room, a king ocean view with a small pool ( I think all the rooms have their own pool) was just beautiful!!! Staff was awesome! The customer service at this property is top notch. I received communication from management prior to arriving and was pleasantly greeted by Jacqueline who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The pictures do not do this place justice, the high ceilings beautiful architecture and amazing views are breathtaking. Continental breakfast is a must my friends and I enjoyed the honey jam every single morning. Nitzy was wonderful and attentive when my friend wasnt feeling well she made sure breakfast was sent to her room and she followed up with her to make sure she had everything she needed. Transportation is everywhere you will not miss a taxi. Tago exceeded my expectations in every way. We took advantage of their gym and sauna which was clean and had everything we needed. The beach is well maintained and there is staff everywhere to make sure you have everything you need. This will be my go to property for my future Tulum visits. The evening treats were cute and tasty! The room was huge and had every amenity you could think of! Thank you Tago for being so amazing to myself and my friends! This was truly VIP treatment!

The reviews are correct for this hotel. Everything is awesome…everything except the prices. Tulum is not a cheap place and this hotel is one of the most expensive. The only thing I would not do again is dealing with customer service to get a cab. Their price was with 100$ more for both ways, take from the airport Jungle taxi is better. . Overall the property is really gorgeous, nice people we would go again there.

Honestly, the property is very nice. We stayed in the ocean front room (they have 4 of these). Its a boutique hotel like most of Tulum hotels are. Before we arrived, we were asked to pay in full (this was done about 3-4 days before arriving. Upon arrival, they req. the tax be prepaid and a $400 deposit for incidentals. We complied. Later that day, they stated it had been cancelled and they wanted to charge another $400 we declined as the charge was still on cc app. For 3 of the 4 days we were there we have countless managers come to us at the beach, ambushed in the lobby about the $400. We did not appreciate this harassment and stated this to them. We owed $107 upon departure, they wanted us to sign a letter stating how good their cust serv was and that we were fully satisfied with our stay. Again, its a nice hotel, but shady behavior which is why I gave it a 3 start. We declined to sign the letter.

Tago Tulum has some of the most beautiful and well-constructed hotel rooms I've stayed in. We loved the double shower, the king bed, the soak pool, and the small details from the service team like evening treats left in the room, daily room cleaning, and \"good morning/goodnight\" stamped in the sand of the room entry.

Air conditioning worked great we were never hot in the room. Hot water in the shower never ran out. Things we would have liked to have known: there is a small refrigerator which you can use - you just had to clear out the minibar items and put them back in upon leaving. They have sunscreen bottles at the beach (probably left from previous guests but they let you use it). This area of Tulum is not the most beautiful to walk (there's lots of traffic and pricey dining options anywhere you go), but staying in the hotel was the best place to be.

For $800-500 US per night, this place was NOT a good value for the money. This hotel bills itself as a luxury hotel but \"luxury\" is aspirational, at best. I feel ripped off & will not return.

Good:
•Friendly, helpful staff
•Beautiful ocean front room
•Pretty beach-- soft sand, uncrowded, well maintained
•Each night, they left a little taste of dessert & some nights, they turned down your bed
• Nespresso machine in the room
• Nice toiletries
• Fluffy robes

Bad:
•Ridiculously overpriced food/drinks (same over the Tulum Hotel Zone)-- $24 for a glass of Mexican wine, $30 for a cocktail.
•Inconsistent housekeeping. Every day, something was missing (eg, hand towels, Nespresso pods, beach towels). The patio table was not wiped once while we were there.
• No price list for the mini bar. We had to ask, and yes, everything was insanely overpriced
• Front sliding doors stuck (room 14). An older person or someone with a bad back would have been injured opening it.
• Bed was very saggy & soft.
• You need an engineering degree to figure out the lighting panel

Other:
Entire Tulum Hotel Zone is a huge rip off. It's so overpriced and blatantly manipulative to tourists. Check your bills.

There's no sidewalk in this zone. Walking to restaurants at night is dangerous. Bring FLAT shoes.

Get better, less expensive meals in Tulum center. DO NOT TAKE TAXIS. They try to charge your $30-40 to go 2 miles to Tulum center. Get out of sight of taxis and hail a collectivo to town ($1.50-$2)

The service was great, however the food was very expensive and not very good. I would say this hotel needs improvement on the food quality and taste considering the price pount. We found Tago to be very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The staff made us feel very much at home. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds, cozy room, comfortable bed, and valet parking. We took advantage of the many restaurants within walking distance each evening. The slippers were a nice touch on the tile floors. Be aware when tipping that service charges are automatically applied when ordering food/beverages at the hotel.

Overall, this was an amazing stay. Room was immaculate with picturesque views of the ocean. Beach club was quaint and semi private. Great if you don’t want a lot of people sharing that space. Great time to relax on beach and feel like you may be the only one there. The dinner service is just ok. I would recommend some of the great restaurants that are nearby unless you are committed to partaking of TAGO’s menu only. Their cocktails were very tasty as well.

I would give feedback on the wait time to check in. Not a deal breaker at all, but I arrived an hour before check in and was not able to check in for an 1hr 1/2 later. Only 30 min after time technically. But sitting in lobby after 2 1/2 hr drive to Tulum from Cancun, made me want to immediately refresh and relax in my room. Strict no late check out policy. While I went ATVing early morning of checkout, the staff kindly held my belongings and offered me the spa showers if I needed to use once returned since already checked out.

Overall 9/10. Great experience. I would definitely return.
