This hotel is absolutely stunning. Even though it feels like you are in the middle of the jungle, not one insect in our room. The cenote (natural pool) is breathtaking. They have free bikes to use and since the room is a beach town, it was walking distance to some of the most popular spots like Tantra Tulum Ilios the Greek restaurant, both are great scenes to party or enjoy company. The staff was spectacular and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and we will for sure be coming back.

Amazing hotel with a private cenote, a little piece of paradise away from the busy street. Very serene place to enjoy a great DJ during the day, reading by the cenote, enjoying good (however pricey) food and drinks.
The low point… we lamented being given a premium room with a view on abandoned structures that ruined the experience. Tried to change our room but the hotel management was totally deaf to our request, and only offered to upgrade us at a cost $65/night when we were already paying in excess of $300… so they left us with a very mixed feeling….

This hotel is beautiful. The staff was wonderful and very helpful to my husband and I. The menu seems to have many options. However, I ate the same thing almost everyday sometimes twice a day because the options with chicken were so few. I don't eat beef, pork or seafood so could only enjoy molletes every morning. We ended up eating outside of the hotel just to get a variety.

My stay at Shibari was wonderful! Staff were very professional, attentive & courteous. Check-in process was simple. They were able to check me in early. The room floor seemed like it wasn’t cleaned that well but the room and view was so beautiful it took the focus away from it. The cenote and restaurant area were amazing. Food taste amazing, a bit overpriced, but the taste, service & staff compensated for it. The fitness center can use some attention.

* THIS HOTEL IS NOT ON THE BEACH. Everything about this hotel was amazing!! To be honest, I booked this hotel by mistake, which turned out to be a remarkable stroke of luck—we did not want to leave! The rooms were lovely and clean. The property and grounds were beautiful and lush. Pure tranquility! Staff was excellent. The breakfast was excellent along with the dining staff. All of this, while being centered around a gorgeous cenote. We had never experienced a cenote before and it was magical. While the cenotes surrounding Tulum are beautiful and well worth visiting, we were always eager to return to our hotel cenote for lounging in the sun and impeccable service. A couple of notes, during our stay, the hotel cenote did not have typical “hotel pool hours” so plan accordingly. Also, keep in mind that check out, as policy states, does in fact take 15-20 minutes. Simply my observations. I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was at Shabari. Topnotch throughout!!

My stay at Shibari was amazing. It was hard to leave this place as it was such a unique and truly magical spot. The included breakfast is top notch and the service was amazing. The only negative thing about it is on the weekends you can get some noise from the nearby clubs until 2am. This doesn’t bother me as I often wear ear plugs when I sleep. And any hotel near the club zone has this same problem so it’s just a downside to staying within walking distance of that zone. I would definitely stay here again.

Wow! What a beautiful resort. The staff was so kind and attentive. Everything was spotless. The music was very relaxing. The pool and jacuzzi were heated, which was nice, since it was a bit chilly in the afternoon and at night. We only ate breakfast while we were there, but it was AMAZING! So fresh and delicious. Also, the area that the resort is located is super charming. There are small cafes, beach clubs, restaurants and boutiques, but not an overwhelming amount of noise and people. We will definitely be back!

The resort is lovely but the rules here make it not worth the stay.
You can not have any guests unless you pay for them. One guest is the resort fee-$17 a day, a second? $150. A guest can not even come to your room to let you wash up and change without paying. You also have to pay for them for your entire stay. The music from the restaurant and cenote is audible in your room all day until late in the night. Will not stay here again.

Third time staying here and still an amazing resort but couldn’t help to notice they are slowly losing their personal touches that made it so special.
1st time was in 2023 and met with smiling faces, valet parking, gift package in the room. 2nd time 2024 all the same with a nice gift bag with sun screen, aloe and bug spray. 3rd time 2025, no valet, no gift bag, friendliest was dwindling and when asked for my car, they gave me my keys and said it’s in the dirt parking lot out back and I can get it myself. 5 star resort is going downhill…

I don’t ever write reviews but I thought my 4 day stay at Shibari deserved one. The hotel is basically a giant compound in an already very safe area of tulum. They have a massive gate in the front that only hotel guests are allowed to enter through. If you are not staying at the hotel, you can’t just wander on through like you can at some others located on the beach. The hotel is also right next to a police station which makes you feel even more comfortable. The area itself is very well lit at night and surrounded by many beach clubs and restaurants. Everything you need is within a 5-10 minute walk. Aside from the location of the hotel, the hospitality was off the charts from the beginning! My only complaint is they had construction for two straight days in the hotel. Not ideal waking up to a chainsaw at 8:30AM or hearing it during yoga or listening to guys work late in the evening at the restaurant. There’s never an ideal time for construction but I feel there were better times for it. Overall, the hotel was gorgeous and well kept all around. Perfect location if you want a relaxing cenote vibe while still close to the party zone and beaches. I will miss watching the sunset over the Mexican jungle…Thank you Shibari.

The spa was pricey for the limited time. The drinks were great. The cenote was great and beautiful just to many mosquitoes. And small gym.
The other thing was the wet bar no one said the wet bar in the wasn’t free or you had to pay until you get your bill. And the upgrade for 3 days was the same price for 7 days. So to many non-disclosed information so I wouldn’t go back there.

When I booked it did not realize it was more of a romantic room. I was traveling with my girl friend and it was a bit awkward since her and I are friends best friends. It would have been nice if you also cater to non couples specially the rooms . The shower was a bit much out in the open with a friend.
I had food poisoning and I have to say Rene took good care of me. Very knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing so I would not be unconscious.
Grateful he was onsite.
Grateful also for my friend taken care of me.

The cenote is worth everything. No need to worry about sargassum seaweed on beach, although Shibari has no fee beach access across the street. Daily yoga included! Free bike rental! Many shops, bars, and restaurants just steps away. Security police station neighbor and guest only access made me feel very safe as solo female traveler.

Yikes. Beautiful property in an excellent location with terrible service overall. The property is mostly empty of hotel guests but the pool/Cenote area is full of people who buy day passes for like $30USD and take the best areas around the cenote.

There is absolutely zero reason to stay here at the hotel as a guest as the people on day passes seem to be treated better than guests actually staying at the hotel. I would definitely pass on booking this hotel ever again but might buy a day pass next time I'm in Tulum.

We were looking for a top-tier experience; however, we didn't want the high energy of the beach club/hotels. Hotel Shibari was our oasis. The hotel life is centered around the cenote. Mornings are quiet, with ambient music. In the afternoons, a DJ plays dance music, but a lighter version of the beach club scene. Swimming in the cenote is amazing - clear water, abundant fish, perfect temperature to cool off after relaxing in the sun. The staff are always available to address your needs, food and drink, sunblock, snacks, etc. When we wanted more privacy, the pool and hot tub area was often empty, and the swim-up bar was great!

The hotel itself is ok but they try to rip you off any opportunity they get. We asked for a taxi from the concierge and they said we need to wait 1.5hrs for a taxi . Then when we were ready to find our own taxi, they came back and said they found a taxi which they regularly work with - Elizabeth name of taxi driver. For a 2 min ride , she charged us $40 US!!!
When dropping us off at our destination, the hotel called her while we were still in the cab and asked her how much she charged us and it was obvious that there was going to be compensation kick back to the hotel after ripping us for a meezy $40 . Pretty pathetic considering how much business we have them.

One of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed at (worldwide).

The good: staff, dining, real cenote in the property, architecture, bohemian environment

The bad: due to the beautiful architecture, walls and glasses are too thin and do not isolate noise properly. Beware that the hotel is in the middle of the Tulum party spots!

The ugly: we stayed 6 nights and they could not fix our jacuzzi in the whole period.

Overall, great experience and looking forward to return soon!

Beautiful hotel. Room could have been cleaner. There were stray hairs (from multiple ppl) on the rug, in the shower, by the pool. Floor felt gritty so i don't think they are swept/vacuumed regularly- I just wore the provided slippers and was ok. But the room was spacious and comfortable with functioning AC, the plunge pool also functioned well. Had to request the outdoor lamps be fixed, and they were.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. I rented a Bali Bed but got rained out after only an hour and it wasnt usable the rest of the day- I was approached the next day at breakfast where they offered to set it up again for me since the weather was better. No hassle! Appreciated the complimentary bottle of prosecco and cake left in my room for my birthday too.

Restaurant on site was GREAT. Must get the shrimp taco! Hotel is walkable to other great dining options and little boutiques- its right on the strip, but with great security- felt safe on and off property ad a solo female traveler. Highly recommended!

I meen, is very bad for Mexicans m, you need to be a foreigner to be good treated.
I strongly recomend the hotel and the area for young foreigners. If you are not in this group, do not try it, you will be very disappointed.

First time in tulum

Booked this as a last min trip for solo travel. Loved the location and the green environment of the property in addition to the restaurant on property. Food was amazing and restaurant staff was great. Jonathan and Gerardo were accommodating and helpful with my stay with anything I may needed or planning. Also want to note that they do have a yoga class that’s available on site that’s free and also a cenote that you can swim in. Depending on weather permitting. Please note that with beautiful scenery, that you may see some wildlife around the property and mosquitoes! Bring bug spray if possible definitely got ate up.
