Lovely local style hotel. Our beachfront room was perfect for listening to the ocean as we slept. The little bay would be perfect for swimming but the Sargassum was an ever present problem—arriving out of the normal season this year. The small plunge pool served as a nice alternative for cooling off. The hotel is located on a short stretch with lovely restaurants, a few small shops and a handy convenience store. The on site restaurant was tasty, and on beach service at guest-only cabanas and beach chairs was very convenient and friendly.

Dining options within walking distance was pricy. 300 pesos per person at least at any of the close restaurants.
Also you couls talk down taxi driver to 20 dollars to get into town. Hit 2 blocks off main street for the best food. Taquiera Honorio

First off it’s important to know that the hotel is managed separately from the restaurant bar area which is run by an Italian group who have nothing to do with the hotel. It’s a small hotel with 12 rooms and not well maintained. We booked their oceanfront room. Paid $210 per night including taxes and included breakfast. There are only 2 rooms that are direct oceanfront, rooms #1 lower level and #21 upstairs. No elevator. Room #1 is larger with a nice patio than the upstairs #21 which has a smaller balcony/thatched roof area. We arrived after dark and were shown to our room by the front office guy who had trouble unlocking the sliding glass door which has a large wooden step into the room. Kind of felt like you were stepping into the room via a window. When we got into the room, we found it to be pretty rustic but had a comfortable bed with mosquito netting which we didn’t use and didn’t need. There is a small fridge and coffee maker. Bathroom is decent size and shower pressure was good. We tried to lock the sliding glass door, it wouldn’t lock. Front desk came back and tried but unsuccessful. Told us that it would be fixed tomorrow? Tried to use the safe to store passports etc, safe wouldn’t lock. Indicator showed batteries low. Back to front office guy to fix that. By now we are realized nothing is maintained here. Breakfast is a joke. 1 TBS of rice and beans. 1 chip/ guacamole. No tortillas, only a dinner roll. No refill on coffee. Beach is public with nude sunbathing.

I arrived at the hotel on my reservation date of July 14 and hotel stated that i missed my date which they said it was July 13. Asked if I wanted to rebook and repay and no help in investing. Very disappointed and asked to be reimbursed. They stated to call Expedia. Thanks for leaving me in limbo in the 100 degree weather of Tulum and to fight for my money back

My boyfriend and I visited Tulum for the first time this past May 2024. We stayed at Punta Piedra Beach Posada for 4 days and three nights. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and concluded it was the perfect “in-between” place to stay. Meaning, it was not one of those super boogie hotels but was much nicer and accommodating than an eco hotel or hostel. It was the perfect in between and we loved it. It was quiet and peaceful for that relaxing feel but close enough to restaurants and the south beach filled with day clubs. For the price, compared to others, this hotel has everything you’d need during a beach vacation. The front desk was receptive to questions and guided us on how to best navigate the island. The service was just enough. They did not try to push anything onto us which was greatly appreciated. Mi Vida Cafe next door was also an added bonus and their staff was fantastic. Free breakfasts each morning was a delight. The biggest pro was definitely location. Close to ATV/bike rentals, good food and the beach. Would definitely stay here again!

We were not planning spending the night in Tulum but we were having too much fun to return to our hotel in Cancun. This place turned out to be a great choice. Very friendly staff and the room was great. Everything about it was great and for less than half than most hotels in the area. And beach front. We will definitely come back.

We had an amazing time. Breakfast was free and delicious, you stay right on a beautiful peaceful beach, a rustic, bohemian feel. All the staff was super friendly and helpful. Great area with lots of dining options.it was a paradise. Some cons…there were only 3 hangers, and only one hook for the bath towels. No shower door so the bathroom got quite wet. Other than that, we loved it. Comfy beds, private balconies, highly recommend!

Perfect location.

Great location, right on the beach. Breakfast included was yummy. Internet not the greatest in the rooms, but better outdoors (balcony, restaurant). Would recommend 2nd floor room with balcony - originally booked 1st floor, but was very dark. They easily moved us to different room (for a cost), but well worth it! Immediate town had shops, restaurants within walking - super cute!

I had a fantastic experience during my stay. The food was absolutely outstanding, offering a wide variety of options that were not only delicious but also surprisingly affordable.

The hotel's location was another highlight, nestled in a secluded area near the beach with only a handful of hotels in the vicinity. This provided a sense of exclusivity, making it feel like a private paradise.

One of my best vacations ever! Small hotel which is perfect if you just need to get away from all of the noise. Clean room, spectacular views, staff was so nice, so friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant on-site was beyond delicious - fresh, fresh, fresh! Best fish tacos I have ever had.

The location was perfect - excellent restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Not crowded, not touristy (if this is your preference) but plenty of attractions within a short taxi, bike or scooter ride. The Mayan ruins were stunning - small (compared to Chichen Itza) but a must see nonetheless.

I cannot say enough about the Punta Piedra Beach Posada and it's location in Tulum! I am so looking forward to going back!

Unfortunately, the hotel was not what we expected; the beach was dirty, and the food was not good. They offered breakfast included, but it was not good; we tried it the first day and did not come back. I recommend staying in the city of Tulum and driving from there to the Cenotes and Kaletas.

I loved the location of this place. It is convenient to move to the town “el Pueblo”, to the ruins, Cenotes, etc. I move around by bike. It has its own pool and beach. The restaurant “My Vida” has high-quality food although it is expensive, but food is expensive everywhere in the “ Zona Hotelera”.

Wonderful retreat by the beach!

We loved this little beach-side retreat in Tulum's hotel zone! This is a smaller, utterly charming hotel, NOT a big, all-inclusive pretentious resort, which was perfect for us. Touches of pastel sea-worn wood, rustic fixtures and decor, sandy walkways between buildings. You're steps away from their beach, complete with covered cabanas, hammocks, and plenty of sand. Some people complained about the seaweed in other reviews but it was honestly not even a big deal at all and is def not controlled by the hotel. It was a wonderful place to retreat to. The rooms themselves are a little older, but still well-maintained and clean. The staff are also wonderful: from the front desk to the waitstaff, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and beachside: choice of eggs or pancakes, and perfect to fuel up before you start your day. I thought the location was perfect: you're not in the super glitzy, clubby night life area (so it's quiet at night), you're right next to the beach, and also still relatively close to Tulum town. Also, there's a fantastic coffee place across the street. We stayed here our entire week in Tulum and are so happy we chose a more laid-back place like this.

We loved the boho look of this property and it was super cute. We had a room on the ground floor ocean front which was nice. BUT One morning woke up with cockroaches in our room☹️
We think they must have come out of the shower drain. And the beach was covered in Sargassum so un-swimmable because they didn’t make any effort to remove it. Location was so so… quiet to sleep but expensive to get to anywhere for dinner. There’s a restaurant attached on the property which does a very very simple breakfast which is included but they won’t even give you a fork to use without a lot of attitude. Super disappointing. Staff at the hotel was super nice- cleaned our room and made cute animals for us.

Hotel was great. Excellent location. Staff are friendly, smiley and welling to help. Clean. We had the best room ever that is right infront of the beach and pool. I know for fact that Hotel is an old style or like a chalet! But the ambiance was great. Got a little bit disappointed of the beach was full of seaweed. That is not their fault. Only one thing i was not really happy about is that the hotel restaurant charged tips AND service!!! Did not understand what is difference between them and it was charging more than it should be. I know its suppose to be a percentage of the receipt yet they charged almost the same amount whether we ordered a main meal or a small thing! Like it was alot i find. Other than that.

Punta Piedra Posada was a wonderful unique experience! The rooms were clean and rustic yet authentic to the area and right on the beach. Walking distance to so many shops and restaurants, yet scooter and bike rentals are readily available too. Chalitos Restaurant is right next door and the chef, Ben, was so unbelievably friendly and makes the best shrimp tacos ever!

Terrible hotel. We were out in room B. The air conditioner and toilet did not work upon arrival. We let them know and they said they would come and fix it. First night we sweated all night and couldn't sleep. The next day they came and \"fixed\" it. The cleaning lady even said our room was so hot and the other rooms are super cold. Not ours! It wasn’t until day 3 the AC felt just a little better. Was still uncomfortable to sleep and get ready in! The toilet did not work properly the whole stay.

We asked again and the manager said the air was fixed. It isn't. We asked if we could be moved to a different room, he said no it's sold out, which wasn’t true. We asked if we could check out and get our money back, he said no refunds. So basically, screw us! His couldn’t have cared less!!!

I would also like to mention the room wasn't clean upon arrival. It looked tidy, but the shower had a lot of sand on the ground and the coffee cups had leftover sugar and coffee in them which means they didn't clean the fridge area at all!!! The fridge didn’t get cold for two days. The last two it decided to work so we were drinking warm water for a couple days.

Terrible resort, avoid it at all cost. I travel a lot and this is the worst place I have ever stayed. I don’t recommend it!

Just stayed here and it was absolutely magical. The staff, especially Luis, felt like family and they were all so friendly and accommodating. We even watched the sea turtles lay eggs with them! The room had excellent AC and a lovely terrace. The property itself is stunning and feels authenticity Tulum in a way that the hotels further down the beach do not. The pool is clean and warm and the FREE breakfast is great. While a touch rustic, I would not have traded our experience here for the world. Thank you Punta Piedra.

After a nightmare of events with a double booking (NOT the resort’s fault- thank you, Gabrielle for helping sort out that mess), we had the time of our lives! I’ve been to Tulum before and was eager to explore more - I was not disappointed!

This hotel is located in the perfect spot- close to tons of restaurants, shops, bars, and entertainment. We had room #21 and the view was breathtaking. Private balcony on the beach with incredible sunrises! The bar and food are great, too!

Suggestions: 1) rent a 4 wheeler but DO NOT rent from the place next door. They require you to leave your passport (no thanks). Go down the road in the same direction & there’s a much better spot on your left- ask for Alejandro! We trekked all over Tulum on the ATV and I only wish we would have rented it the whole time (you NEED it to get around). 2) Travel south for more dining and nightlife. It’s worth it. SO MANY incredible places to eat & things to do! 3) Eat at Taboo (swanky beach club also great for a day hang out), Azulik (it’s next to the hotel- book ahead & go to the nests for drinks). Ziggy’s, Potheads, Boccocino, & Mateo’s (get the Baja bites & say hi to José). 4) STAY OFF THE ROADS IN TOWN. Cops made us pay $150 USD to pass. 5) Go to the Mayan Ruins, then head down the side road (follow the crowd) to the right when you leave- AMAZING little area with a ton of stuff to do! 6) Visit cenotes!! 7) book this hotel… it’s the perfect spot to relax & it’s super clean/comfy! We LOVE Tulum!

Wonderful & Affordable Stay on Tulum Beach

3 friends and I stayed here for a long weekend on Tulum Beach. Our stay was lovely! We enjoyed the free breakfast (choice from 4 options; pancakes, omelets, and two different types of scrambled eggs), juice and coffee. This place is definitely not a 5 star hotel but for the value & location right on Tulum Beach, it's quite nice. Location wise, you're right on a small beach with a few other resorts & walking distance to many restaurants & shops. The front desk & cleaning staff were also very nice. The beds are comfortable & we had plenty of hot water. My only complaint was that the toilet in the room didn't flush well.

My stay at Punta Piedra was excellent! The private beach was breathtaking and waking up next to the ocean was worth it! If you are debating about staying in the city, or on the beach...CHOOSE THE BEACH! You will not regret it. The city is cheaper but it's far from the beach and not as nice. There are no public beach restrooms so I can't imagine not having my room steps away for easy clean-up. Also, lugging all your stuff from the city to the beach every day would be a pain. Punta Piedra was such a reasonable price for the outstanding location. It's right next to a bike rental place where I rented an ATV for the day. There's also a COVID testing set up next to it. It's within walking distance from so many good restaurants and shops. Even the restaurant at the front of the hotel had delicious food. The free breakfast was ok. After a couple of days, I got tired of it and went next door to Mina and had an AMAZING breakfast there. I went back 3 days in a row. Also, I was surprised to discover that every room has its own balcony/patio area where you can sit and enjoy the view. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel was the very hard beds. Overall, I would definitely stay here again because of the location, price, and friendly staff.

The staff was very friendly and the pool & seaside restaurant were great. Make sure to check if there is an algae problem at the beaches near Tulum before traveling, as we did not do this and the beach was not swimmable during our visit. This is not the property's fault at all; if it weren't for the algae, we would have likely stayed longer as we loved the hotel and our room. Great memory of our trip!

Cute little property with 14 rooms. Barefoot feel to it with a cute little restaurant by the beach and another one street side. Beach is semi private only shared with 4 more properties which gives you much more privacy and security than on the longer beach strips around Tulum Playa. Perhaps a bit overpriced for the character of the hotel but still we had a great time. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

The room is basically a glorified shack. There are cracks everywhere along the bedroom walls. The bathroom is quite dirty, the showerhead had so much water pressure as half of it was clogged. I abandoned trying to wash my hair within the minute as the water pressure was so intense and painful.
The manager changed the showerhead after we let him know, the room and bathroom are so abysmal that Expedia should not be advertising it on their site at all. Our room and bathroom both didn't have a window!The linens are threadbare, the bed is uncomfortable and the paid breakfast is portion sized for kids.
The beach loungers have seen better days and were dirty both days of our stay.

Loved this little hotel and it’s property. Staff was attentive and friendly and this Spot was quieter than some other hits in the area. Rooms were clean and comfortable and simple but had what you needed. The grounds were beachy-rustic with a cute little pool (looked very clean) and private beach with chairs/ daybeds and palapas to lay under. The Italian restaurant was delicious for dinner and the free breakfast was a great deal . I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a quaint, beachy, no thrills hotel in Tulum.

Our room was tucked away into the trees on the upper level so we were able to see the beach and sun from the sizeable deck under the protection of the palms.

I loved this hotel the view was beautiful despite the seaweed they do not clean that up but booked the royal beach view very simple and nice.The staff was perfect up until we had a little incident with the cleaning staff. We checked out of our room and accidentally left some gold chains. We ask the lady who was cleaning if she seen them and she said no but that she will go back and “check” the room for us again. The answer was still no but once we got more people involved and i started checking for myself she happened to find them under a pillow? She proceeded to get angry and say that we accused her and that it was us who left it there which was true we did leave them but not anywhere where it was found. We had moved a few furniture around and you can see she clearly fixed everything. She preceded to get angry and call us a few things and say she would never but we caught her in a few lies so i would be very careful leaving around nice items in this location. They seem very nice and helpful but then again you can never be so sure. I loved it up until our last day. Also i gave a 20$ usd and was paying for a 2.50 coke which is 50 pesos from what i was told and i ended up getting 250 pesos back in change which equals 12.80 from there exchange rate so they do try to trick you money wise as well especially if you don’t know the rates or how pesos work which i didn’t at the time.

Great quiet place for couples

My mom and I stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Tulum. This hotel has been here for years and has a great reputation. The food is great and the service is amazing. Arseño normally took care of us for breakfast and/or dinner and treated us like family. There is a few paid parking areas nearby for 200 pesos per night. I parked a little down the road past Azulika on the side of the road for free. It was a little walk but it didn't bother me and wasn't willing to pay the parking fee. The dinning and outside breakfast area is older in style but very clean and creates a fun environment. The pool is small but again perfect to just hang out im and talk. There were notmally a few ppl there and made it easy to meet and share stories with other guests. There was massages on the beach but we didn't do it. There a raise patio area off the beach area with some lounge chairs which is perfect for watching the sunset and sunrise. It has a great and long time breakfast and lunch spot across the street named Potheads, scooter rentals next door, Mateo's restaurant is nearby for live music/lunch/dinner. The hotel is at the entrance to the Tulum beach/hotel zone so it's a little quieter in this area, but close enough to get to the action.

Outstanding place. Great location 1 minute walk to greats bars and restaurants, the restaurant at the hotel is fantastic and super easy. Rooms are small but very comfortable, AC is cold, the pool is perfect a quick dip and the private beach is great. I would stay again!

We had room 21 and it was amazing. The staff was amazing, the food was the best food we had on the trip and didnt break your wallet either. The staff and owner treat you like family - free breakfast and its good - private beach access was amazing and nothing beat our view. We will only stay here when we come next. We had many hotels to choose from and i am beyond happy we picked this one. I loved it so much, i already want to go back. its right next door to everything you need!!!!! perfect location, perfect everything!!!!!!!

The food is amazing, the staff is amazing it was a great experience I would absolutely be back. It’s way less expensive than the places nearby but doesn’t lack on service or comfort. My 5k gold ring was stolen. My bank cards and credit cards were stolen. The Bank machine outside doesn't work. If you take out 1000 it only gives you 200 and keeps teh rest. Beautiful place staff were amazing except for and Argentinian manager who called my girl friend a very rude word when we were asking about out stolen goods.. Would never stay there again. Italian guy is great bartenders and normal staff were great management was atrocious

This isn’t the hotel to book if you’re unsure of your plans & possibly need to change the dates they will NOT ANSWER YOUR CALLS OR EMAILS!! When purchasing my stay at Punta Piedra beach Posada it was noted on Itinerary that changes can be made to the reservations by a certain date… they won’t make changes to your reservation!! they want your MONEY!!!
This was a HUGE inconvenience I had to pay for another hotel to meet up with family in Cancun, because they wouldn’t refund me the last 2 days of my stay which I contacted them several times before the date of cancellations to change.. With all my years of travel I’ve never had a hotel staff be so resistant & unprofessional, when this could have been resolved so easily, honestly I would skip the trouble with this hotel. Find a hotel that will honor what’s actually on the site & your Itinerary

It’s amazing how much great pillows and strong wifi means when you’re on vacation. We loved this little spot. We came during the time when seaweed covered the shore so we couldn’t enjoy the beach but it was still nice to sit in the shore and the pool was perfect for the 4 of us. Pizza across the street is fantastic and pasta next door was delicious. The shabby chic bohemian style of the hotel really makes you feel like you’re on vacation. Highly recommend!

Great little spot in a perfect location. No frills but everything you need, clean, and well decorated. No hot water in the shower but otherwise an enjoyable stay. I wouldn't recommend paying too much for the oceanfront view, all the rooms are literally steps away from the beach.

Very quite and down to earth.. no distractions with TV however the do have wifi. Paid parking off site about 50 yards away so have a couple thousand pesos in hand and be ready to bargain with the locals. Overall great trip but check the local weather, there was a Ton of seaweed and trash accumulating on the beach which was not there our last 2 trips. The best beaches about 45 mins south from the hotel in a wildlife preserver. Breath taking however none of the locals will tell you about it. Is an all day Excursion so bring the bug spray, Food answer cerveza. Very sad to see so much trash everywhere this time so please pack your trash out So future generations can enjoy this beautiful land we live on.

My first time in Tulum was awesome thanks to Punta Piedra. The hotel was safe and the staff were always so helpful. The breakfast included was always wonderful each morning and the house keepers left the cutest towel animals. They worked so hard to try to clean up the seaweed from the beaches too. Overall a great experience.

This is an excellent choice for someone looking for a simple casita with A/c, a safe, a comfortable bed and a simple shower right on the beach. There are 13 units and the property has tons of beach furniture (beds, palapas and pillows) to lounge on. The actual beach is sublime. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is delicious. They feed you a full simple breakfast and delicious coffee and juice. I hope to return! Gracias!
