Heating was hard to work so my room was hot throughout my trip but not a major red flag.

Location was great, 15 minute walk from Seoul Station and the closest underground was less than a minute walk. There’s also a bus station right outside the entrance making it a great spot!

My only criticism is that I booked for a king size bed and they gave me double beds saying they didn’t have any left. But when I booked it over a month ago, it was for a king.

I looked on Expedia to see if I can book a king that same day and it was available.

We booked this hotel due to its location, next to the subway station and one of the bus stops for the airport limousine bus. However, we were disappointed with the check-in reception as well as the lack of communication from the hotel. After we completed our check-in, we went back to reception to enquire about the airport limousine bus schedule. Only then did the staff realised that she had forgotten to inform us that there will be an outage of power supply to the entire hotel due to a electrical safety inspection for 3 hours on our 2nd night of stay. The hotel did not highlight this during our booking, nor informed us by email before we arrive for our stay (Expedia did not highlight this as well). If this is a mandatory inspection, the date should have been known beforehand and the hotel should announce this publicly and inform guests whom have made reservations, and offer the option to guests to either keep or cancel the reservation. Unfotunately, we were left with no such choice but to stay in the room with no aircon, no TV, no hot bath water, and in darkness (saved for the emergency light at the room entrance). The only saving grace was that power was restored an hour later, earlier than the 3 hours stated. It was unfortunate our stay experience was marred by this incident.

I enjoyed staying here, It was in a great location, subway entrance steps away. The staff was very nice and helpful and everything was very clean. I also loved the 24 hr GS25 in the lobby! The only negative thing was the thermostat was automatically set to 27 Celsius (80.6) degrees Fahrenheit which is crazy! you are not allowed to change it or adjust the temp of your room. We HATED this! My boyfriend didn’t get a good sleep the whole time because he constantly woke up sweating. I don’t understand why we don’t get to choose the temp because that honestly was a huge drawback to this hotel.

The hotel is in a perfect location on the main bus and train lines. However it is not loud nor noisy.
Here you can feel the Korean local vibe.
The hotel is surrounded with great restaurants. Don’t be shy to try and go into the ones where only Koreans are sitting.
There are many local attractions nearby especially if you enjoy walking.
Namsam park leading to Seoul Tower is a great daily hike.
The Namdeum market is practically diagonal from the hotel. It is a great market to shop for clothes, shoes, accessories and even a suitcase in case you shopped too much.
Great coffee shop next to the lobby.
You can walk to Seoul training station on the Seoullo trail.
And after a busy day you can enjoy the hotel swimming pool.
There are pharmacies, hair dresses and even oriental medicine across from the hotel.

Fantastic stay in new and modern hotel

It’s a great location hotel directly opposite Namdaemun and walkable to Myeongdong. The hotel is modern and clean, has good sized room. The bed is super comfortable and to top it all, the drinks in the fridge is free and refilled daily. There is no kettle in the room but they will bring you one immediately. Highly recommended for a truly enjoyable stay!

From the moment we checked in until checkout, service was top notch, A+++.

Rooms were very clean and spacious.

Restaurant buffet had a vast selection with both korean and western selections.

Impressed with the services offered by the hotel....luggage pick up/drop off, GS store 24 hours in the hotel, business area with printer, lounge on the 18th floor.

The airport limosine bus stops right in front of the hotel, making it very convenient.

The subway entrance is one minute away.

Mr. Han, the general manager, greets his customers and treats everyone like a valued guest.

However there were no power points / usb chargers on either side of the bed which made it a little inconvenient for those of us who likes to use phone /tablet in bed and charge at the same time .

Beautiful new hotel. Great pool, gym and club lounge for coffee, wine and snacks with a Jew of Seoul Tower. The only drawback was the staff knowledge. I had to feel them the club lounge served alcohol beverages and had a happy hour. Additionally, I got the wrong directions form two different staff members on where to catch the bus to the airport which happens to be directly across the street. Unfortunately I walked several block with all my luggage in tow until I found someone on the street that spoke English.

Terrible check-in experience. The counter agent could not find our two reservations. Made us wait 20 minutes. No apology, no offer of an upgrade given the problem, no offer of a free drink at the lounger while we waited.

None of the counter agents were busy, but none helped to obviously ill-trained one we dealt with.

After waiting 20 minutes we were made to feel that it was all our fault (which it was not as we had all the Hotels.com reservation confirmation to show the agent).

We spoke Koran, so that was not a language issue.

Also, please note that the beds are not king size as understood in most parts of the world. The beds are much smaller.

There are lots of other hotels at this price point, and lower, with far better service. Go for those and avoid the grumpy front desk at the VOCO Seoul Myengdong.

The buffet breakfast was good with healthy options, yoghurt was in sealed tubs and they also had variety of probiotic drinks.

The room is bigger than any room we have in Japan, the room is clean and the bed is good, however our bathroom faucet is not so great, but the shower is very good, we only stay for 3 nights, no bother to switch room. Breakfast buffet is great too lots of choices. The hotel is in the center of Myung Dong, shopping malls, foods and famous attractions are walking distance. don’t use taxi or uber they are expensive and most of them don’t speak English. Instead use Public transportation with Tmoney card 3000won per card. Get them at GS25 or 711 store and load money in and off you go. They are about 1400-1800won per fare. This hotel also had AirPort Express bus going to ICN right at the front door. It cost 17000won per person. I commanded use this bus if you are get off or go to ICN.

My recent stay at this hotel was nothing short of a nightmare, starkly contrasting their claims of guest care and comfort. From day one, I encountered nothing but apathy and negligence, leaving me feeling cheated, disrespected and utterly frustrated.

After a 16 hour tiring flight, all I wished for was a good night’s sleep. Instead I found the thermostat locked at 30 degrees C. When I reported the issue to the front desk, I was assured that the temperature was centrally controlled and would be adjusted, but that never happened. Exhausted, I spent the entire night drenched in sweat, unable to sleep, desperately trying to rest in what felt like an oven.
Exhausted from the sleepless night, I once again reported the issue. This time the staff suggested opening the window to let in cooler air. To my disbelief, the windows were sealed shut. Another night in a hot room tossing and turning, desperately trying to rest.
I raised the issue once again only to be offered a room on the same floor with no promise that it would resolve the issue. Yet, when I returned, I was still stuck in the same furnace like room. Another sleepless night followed.
By this time, my frustration had reached its peak. Lack of sleep was taking toll on me physically and mentally. Yet, the staff remained indifferent, offering nothing but smiles that masked their complete inaction. There were no follow-ups, no efforts to check if my concerns had been addressed.
Spent $1200 for four nights of utter discomfort.

The hotel lobby is clean and well decorated, checking in and out is a breeze. Room is good except the mountain view is through a tiny window overlooking the carpark and not as what we have expected. Complimentary minibar is a pleasant surprise and you will be spoiled for choices if you opt to have the buffet breakfast. There are only 2 minor feedback for this property: 1. the housekeeping standard is not consistent so it depends on who cleaned your room, you will either get a clean and fully stocked room or cleaned and forgotten minibar items, or partially cleaned room. 2. On our last night the central heater is switched on due to the cold weather but the room become very stuffy with no ventilating fan. Other than this we have enjoyed our stay and will be back one day.

VOCO Hotel was top notch. We stayed there when it was T Mark Grand Hotel and very familiar with the property.

Pleased with the changes/improvements.

1. GS convenience store in the lobby
2. restaurant selection was excellent with many choices to satisfy even picky eaters. The food was very tasty and fresh.
3. Loved the Twosome Place coffee shop that stayed open very late. Perfect for a late night snack.
4. Elevators were very fast and clean.
5. Front desk employees were friendly and helpful. Spoke and understood english.

I was on the 14th floor and I frequently had my do not disturb on since I stayed 9 days and didn’t need the room cleaned every day however the ladies were always so nice to offer me water and towels and restock my minibar. The property was nice. The area was strange. Right downtown. Had a horrible experience with the Assistant Manager Kyle Kim. We had ordered a taxi that took us to the wrong place at least 20km from where we had told the girl at the hotel we wanted to go. He never apologized for the mixed up. The clerk had told the taxi the wrong location. He basically said it was our fault. That the clerk did nothing wrong. I was asking for a refund of $10 from our bill of over $1300. He made us feel like we were lying about where we asked to be taken. The wrong place we were taken was unsafe. The taxi driver yelled at us.. demanded more money. We paid two fares. Never an apology. Poor customer service. The money wasn’t even an issue. Yelled at by taxidriver. Then insulted and accused of lying by Kyle Kim over $10. When we spent over $1300.

While the newly introduced furnishings garnered some praise, the overall experience fell short of the expected standards.

Service, a vital aspect of any hotel stay, failed to leave a positive mark. The absence of service staff and concierge in the lobby, coupled with the unwelcoming demeanor of receptionist Diane Shee, painted a dismal picture.

The noise pollution from a busy street infiltrating the low-floor room, combined with lackluster air conditioning, marred the tranquility one seeks in a hotel stay.

Moreover, the lack of attention to detail in housekeeping, evident in crumpled bedsheets and an overall lack of cleanliness, added to the disappointment.

The breakfast chaos during the hotel peak season, coupled with an outdated bathtub shower with a ‘body-sticking’ shower curtain, further detracted from the overall guest experience.

Loved our stay here. We had a mountain view suite with lounge access. The breakfast and lounge options were plentiful and well worth it. Joey in the lounge/ breakfast area and Kai from concierge were very helpful. Concierge helped book an hanwoo beef restaurant and explain the airport bus.

The area around the hotel is awesome and an easy uber to other popular tourist spots. We enjoyed the swimming pool with our toddler. Highly recommend this hotel!

Maybe a hotteok (호떡) would have gone a long way? I think it was just a hiccup- very clean.

A great hotel that needs improvement

My experience at Voco Seoul Myeongdon hotel was overall great.
It's fairly new hotel so not many taxi drivers know how to get to this hotel, but it's located in a great location right in front of Namdaemoon market.
The room is very clean and the mattress is firm, which gives pleasant experience. However, this hotel needs a lot of improvement in the bathroom.
After shower, the bathtub does not drain and also the shower curtain is not drape properly that the water leaks to the floor after taking shower.
The hair dryer doesn't have strong power to dry hair fast enough.
