Mixed experience... booked upgrade not recognised at arrival, took ages to get sorted. Next morning included breakfast not recognised and had to pay 34 euros.. later found email confirmation of inclusion so got that sorted only to find the late check.out had not been applied.
Real issue was treatment at breakfast, made to feel i was trying to steal from them by a woman with very poor customer service skills.
Not sure I'll be back despite the quality of the rooms being great, never had any ussues like this in the Marriott which is 50m away.

Lovely Hotel with Unhappy Staff

After many years of visiting Munich, I was looking forward to staying at this hotel. While the facility is spotless and comfortable, the staff seemed overall unhappy and unaccomidating. I recommend looking elsewhere at this price point.

I was travelling with my son and we specifically booked a junior suite so that he could have a sofa bed. On arrival we were told that sofa bed was not possible as housekeeping had gone for the day. They then told me that they would find a solution within the hour. Their solution was to not tell me that they would not be making up the sofa bed for my son- it was way after his bed time. We had stayed in the (very overpriced/poor value) restaurant in order that they could make up the room. At 11pm one member of staff reluctantly made up the sofa bed into a bed. My son reported that it was one of the worst soaf beds he had ever been on. This was in stark contrast to a ski hotel we had stayed in at Kaprun earlier that week - where staff could not have been more helpful.

Spacious and very functional room, well maintained. Good soundproofing, noise from the highway didn't turn out to be an issue. Quality bedding, very happy with the room overall. Breakfast was worth paying for, though would like to see a tiny variation during my 7-day stay. Underground station is only 5-min walk away. Nice neighborhood. Restaurant/bar proved to be a great choice in the night after a long day exploring the city. Parking could / should be a bit cheaper. Very happy overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city, either for leisure or work.

Wonderful modern room, 2 minute walk to Muller Cafe for pastries, short walk to Brunnwart Restaurant for authentic Bavarian food (roast pork is fabulous as is the red cabbage and the apple strudel), 4 minutes walk to Ubahn subway, where you can go to Marienplatz and see the historic Rathaus (city hall) and have an amazing meal in the Rathaus Keller. After a full day of sightseeing, don’t miss going to the Wellness Spa in the hotel. This spa is truly luxurious, with amazing saunas, steam rooms, foot baths, relaxation areas, and showers…a great way to unwind!

Great stay at the Steigenberger. Very accessible as 10 min walk from the Airport Express bus stop at Nordfriedhof, which runs every 20 mins. Also 10 min walk from the U6 station which provides easy access to downtown Munich. Outstanding buffet breakfast, although a bit pricey at 34 Euro pp. Also a great terrace & bar for a drink or easy dinner at the hotel. Would highly recommend.

I booked this hotel a few days before I flew out. I didn't have many options to choose from. Now normally if I was travelling by myself I wouldn't pick something so expensive.

I ate a couple of times in the bar - the weather was lovely and so ate outside. While I had no issues with the service of the bar - there was one member who stood out a lot more than the other. I just wished I caught his name because he was so positive and lovely and it didn't matter that I was here by myself. The food was good - the club sandwich was way too much food by loved it. I enjoyed plenty of cocktails while here and the drinks menu was extensive.

The wellness centre which I went to twice both about an hour before it shut - was perfect for me as it was empty and I could enjoy the steam rooms, and sauna and even sit down and read a bit without other people distributing the peace.

The place was the walking distance to a U6 metro station which I found really coinvent and could get to pretty much everywhere I need to go with ease. There was also a small supermarket on the walk back from the station which was very useful. An airport shuttle bus also stopped near this metro station and cost about fourteen euros for a transfer.

My complaint was the fact the tea bags weren't replaced. That is just me being difficult. I loved my stay and while I probably wouldn't stay again cause it was too lavish for a solo tourist. I would recommend this to all if this is what you want from a hotel.

Great, safe business hotel

Great business hotel, clean, big modern rooms (stayed in the junior suite), and easy access to the U6 subway line. On-site restaurant has Augustiner on tap, so definitely worth a visit. And proximity to English Garden for walks can’t be beaten.
Hotel staff took COVID protocol very seriously, which was great to see.
Only negatives: the weights in the gym only go up to 9kg, and parking could be a tad cheaper.

Was here for just a night stay on a business trip. Check in was slow, but probably just unlucky with the two guests before me. Nice big bed and comfortable room but the positions of the lights were a little odd so felt a little dark. Should make the Wifi sign in details a little more obvious rather than have to switch on the TV to search through the A to Z. Liked the gesture of the bottles of water, and the shower gel etc was very nice. Breakfast had a good spread and especially liked the fresh honeycomb.

Beautiful hotel that needs more training for staff

The hotel is nice and new, but the staff needs much training. While everyone is very nice it was impossible to accomplish anything in cooperation with the staff. At first we were given an accessible room that we asked to have switched to a regular because of the odd shower. We were then placed in a room that had only one set of towels, one set of bedding and was not at all clean. We called the front desk immediately and none of the issues were addressed. We then called later and we received the towels but the room was not cleaned and no bedding arrived. As we left the hotel in the evening we again asked. Upon return the room had been somewhat cleaned but still no bedding.

Also, upon our arrival at the hotel the key machine was not working so we had to wait to be taken to our room and then had no keys until late at night. These are all small things, but just too many for such a short stay where we spent so much time dealing with issues and asking for the same things to be fixed.

Nice hotel. Large rooms, modern and clean. Free water bottle in the room, free wifi..but breakfast costs 29 euros. I went outside and got mine for 10 euros at a Cafe nearby.

BAD .... Food eye-wateringly expensive. eg breakfast was nearly 30 euros per person so we ate at a local cafe.

New hotel, great restaurant, nice concierge

I was able to get an early check in, getting some good sleep after landing. The location is not in the middle of everything but closer to the airport and close to where I had to go. It is a new hotel, everything is up to date and great condition.

Although the hotel itself is very nice, I had a very unpleasant experience when dining in the restaurant. I have never been treated in such an abrupt and rude way before in a restaurant. This culminated in the waiter bringing me the wrong meal, refusing to take any responsibility, making no apology and trying to blame me for the mistake. All in all he behaved shockingly and I walked out of the restaurant without eating, because of him.
Thankfully the staff at reception were very helpful when I complained and they insisted that I gave them the opportunity to make up for it. They treated me very well after that and provided me with a meal. However I remain shocked by the original waiter’s attitude and behaviour towards me, which was perhaps down to the fact that I was a female dining on my own. I’m not sure.

Great hotel!

The Steigenberger is a brand new hotel, with friendly and professional staff. The room was very nice, comfortable beds, and excellent food at in-house restaurant. The hotel is in walking distance to the English garden, and an easy train ride to the center of town (Marienplatz). We would definitely stay here again next time we come to Munich.

Super modern hotel with a fantastic layout and the best shower I've ever used. Parking is a cinch just underneath the hotel and we were a 15 minute drive from one of the best German restaurants ever - Haxnbauer (700+ years old) and 15 minutes from the airport.

Fantastic hotel!

This was a great hotel, complete with seasonal decorations! It’s maybe a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest U-Bahn station in a good area. Well-designed rooms, very clean, and excellent facilities. They also had one of the better breakfast buffets. The close proximity to the English Garden is also a plus.

Front desk staff was cordial but not nice enough for American customer service standards, expect them to be cold towards you. They also looked me like I was an alien for requesting early check-in at 11 am after a 14 hr flight, they were not accommodating at all and were very rude in telling me this was not possible, hence not a good first impression. The hotel overall was ok and good enough for the price, nothing amazing though. It was clean and modern. The bed was too hard for our taste, almost like a rock instead of a plush bed. The phone to call the front desk or other areas of the hotel was confusing and an old system. The shower/bathtub was uncomfortable if you wanted just a shower. Aditionally, I had to walk all the way to the front desk to ask for a shower cap (excellence is in the details).

Great stay. Modern German atmosphere near Metro.

Had a wonderful experience at this hotel. My room on the 3rd floor was spacious, well lit and clean and had nice modern touches (keurig coffee maker, large TV, speakers in the bathroom, mini bar, etc) Reliable wifi. The bathroom was especially nice--rainhead shower and modern moveable regular showerhead. Great water pressure and very hot water. Staff courteous and friendly. Location in the business district so about metro stops from Marienplatz. Did not dine so cannot comment on breakfast or dinner.

A New Discovery!

I never heard of the Steigenberger hotels but it will now be a brand that I will consider when traveling around the world. The trendy yet cozy feel to the entire hotel made my experience more than satisfactory. Their bar and restaurant also stole the show because of their food and service. They boasted a beer cellar that housed rare Bavarian selections and local specialties. Staying at this hotel added to my already pleasant experience in Munich.

It was an amazing hotel room and I couldn’t believe I got it for the price I did on Travelocity! Spacious room with an incredible bathroom with a rain shower and very nice amenities. Felt very fancy staying in such a nice hotel for such a reasonable cost!

Arrived early and was able to check in about 10am. Very nice. Room was clean and comfortable. Stayed 3 nights. Strange thing was housekeeping did not provide the typical small shampoo, soap or shower gel at all. My colleagues had the same experience. Only after calling and requesting and having the feeling the hotel was being inconvenienced did 1 refill of each come up.

I didn’t prepay for breakfast. Took a look at the offering the first morning and decided it was not worth 21 euros. Walked 3 minutes down the road to a coffee and had a nice breakfast for 7.

I totally and completely loved this place! The staff was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable at all times. I would really recommend staying here. Facilities are clean. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. Breakfast is incredible and worth waking up early!

A comfy little spot in Munich

The hotel is next door to the Marriot, which we loved since we had friends staying there. There's a bakery and a grocery 2 blocks away, and the street is tree-lined and quiet.

There are much nicer hotels in Munich

The Hotel used to be a large office building and still has the feel of one. The location is nowhere near downtown and the ambience leaves a lot to be desired. The best part was very generous breakfast buffet. Even though we booked to pay the hotel bill at the hotel and in their currency , we were told that the Stegen burger had taken the money out already 14 days prior to our arrival.

Great location away from daily hustle bustle of midtown Munich. Staff was outstanding in all phases. Breakfast was outstanding but for those of us that eat a normal breakfast the 29 euros charge per person was a little ridiculous. Would recommend this hotel to others but would encourage them to have breakfast somewhere else.

Oktoberfest at Steigenberger

The hotel is less than a year old and is beautiful on the inside and out. All employees were kind and welcoming. However, our coffee supplies were not replenished for a couple days and when we called to request an extra towel we were told it would be right up and then never arrived. While not in the center of Munich is a 5 minute walk to the U-Bahn and located in a safe albeit quiet area. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Falls on location

While the rooms are big and comfortable, housekeeping needs to be more professional ( water bottles not replaced, coffee capsules not filled etc.). Staff is pleasant. Main problem is the location, quite far from center and almost no cafes, restaurants or shops in neighborhood.Taxis to center and back will cost about €38-40 .
