This charming hotel is located in a quiet area, a short boat ride from the main Venice. It had a few good restaurants nearby. The room was cozy with functioning AC. The bathroom was on the smaller side but still good and clean with towels and toiletries provided. The walls are not soundproof, so you can hear what’s going on outside, your neighbours, and in the hallways. We also often had a mosquito in our room, not sure where they kept coming from. The bed was comfortable, but we were a bit worried of crashing into the pole beside the bed in the middle of the night, but glad it did not happen. The staff were really kind and helpful. Breakfast was okay, had many options but mostly cold options. It would be nice to have a few more cooked items, but we understand different countries do breakfast differently. We had a few troubles with the egg boiler with eggs being taken by other guests, because they didn’t read the sign and realize they have to boil their own, and occasionally eggs not being fully cooked even after the suggested time in the boiler. I understand it helps prevent waste, but I wonder if it would be more efficient to have the eggs prepared ahead of time. Overall, it was a nice stay, would recommend.

Clean, friendly hotel in a quiet residential area with regular service from multiple water bus lines. Several good restaurants neaby as well as a grocery and bank ATM. Room was small but clean and well appointed. A/C worked (Venice can be pretty humid). Our only real complaint was that the bathroom, while nicely tiled and functional, is small and the shower is tiny. Both my wife and I could barely squeeze into it and you won't be bending over to scrub your legs. Good continental breakfast.

Hotel was very convenient for traveling to and from main island of Venice with the vaporetto service. Giudecca is a quieter island overall but close enough to Venice (maybe a 10 minute trip). A bit pricey, but understood with the close location. There are still some nice restaurants within walking distance.

Decent hotel. Our room floor was partially below the plaza area with one small window almost level with the plaza surface. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.

A Peaceful Location Away from Venetian Crowds

The Hotel Giudecca is quaint and homey, with an exceptional staff that answers every question and goes above and beyond for their guests. A special acknowledgement to Andrea, who made us coffee, gave us dinner recommendations, and even arranged for a water taxi to pick us up right outside the hotel door to take us to the airport.

Our guest room was clean and comfortable, with a beautiful canal view from both our bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom was a bit small, but very functional. Breakfast was included with our stay and was one of the best breakfasts we had during our multiple stops in Italy.

Giudecca is the perfect location for travelers who want to avoid the huge crowds that are typical for Venice during the peak tourist season. A short ferry ride (about 10 minutes) gets you to the middle of the action in St. Mark's Square, but more times than not, we were relieved to head back to the tranquility and calm of this less populated area of Venice where you are more likely to dine with locals than with other tourists.

Lovely Small Hotel in Giudecca

We were in Venice for several days and enjoyed staying here. It gave us a bit of a break from the crowds which was nice but does add to travel time if you want to do a lot of things in the central city. Room was very clean but very small and the bathroom only accommodates one person at a time. Really good buffet breakfast included.

This could definitely have been a 5 rating, except for two things: the bed was really hard, and the room is not as shown in the photos. I asked about the latter and it seems that there is only one \"superior\" room with the nice terrace and bathroom as shown. All the others are just like the \"classic\" rooms but have canal views (which are wonderful). The location is perfect - nice and quiet but an easy vaporetto ride to everywhere, and some excellent restaurants nearby.

This hotel doesn't look promising from the outside as it's in an old Ventian building, but it's modern and clean inside and my single room was well appointed and very quiet. The reception staff were really friendly and I enjoyed my peaceful breakfasts in the lovely conservatory. Riding on the public waterbus from Giudecca to Zattere or San Marco added to the novelty of being in this unique city.

Lovely hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of central Venice, but with good vaporetto links so best of both worlds. Giudecca is very different from tourist central San Marco - a working area with lots of activity to search out.
The hotel staff were universally friendly and helpful. There was a good buffet breakfast on offer. Our room was compact but with a comfortable bed and a good shower - what more do you need!

Tried to change/cancel 10 minutes after booking as I realized I had the wrong dates. People at hotel have no authority and next day managers did not cancel or refund. Cheap tickets was a great help but the hotel would not accommodate my new dates or give a refund - even though I called within 10 minutes of booking error.

This hidden gem is a short water bus away from the maim iconic square in Venice. The staff are friendly, helpful and the bar and mini bar prices are reasonable. Within a locals residential area we had the best food and wine of our trip. The lovely lady on reception was able to advise us about the spa at rehab Hilton just 10 minutes away for a rainy afternoon relaxation. She also helped us find our way too and from the casino which isn’t like a UK casino and more for real gamblers but the free water taxi and beautiful building do make it worth the visit.

The room was cleaned daily with a mid range of comfort, it’s not fancy but it’s still lovely and more than enough for a city break.

The breakfast was plentiful and always restocked.

I wouldn’t hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

Very well situated for our needs. We wanted to be on the island of Giudecca. The only thing that we found disappointing was the choice at breakfast as would have been nice to have fresh juices instead of longlife; and better quality yogurt. There was fresh fruit but would have appreciated fresh soft fruit rather than canned peaches and prunes. However, beautiful pastries, croissants, choice of bread and preserves

Lovely hotel away from the big crowd

This hotel is on a narrow street, a short walking distance from the Palanca vaporetto stop, which brings you across the canal. Room was small but comfortable. Bathroom was update and very clean. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and allows you to last, with a few late afternoon chicheti, until dinner. I particularly liked the bread (with salami and cheese) and the lemon and apricot pie. Staff was friendly and gave us some Venice visiting advice. They actually went above and beyond by forwarding a sweater that I forgot in the room to my hotel in Sorrento. The canal front is more authentic than the main island with a number of small restaurants, and a few bakeries, deli shops and fish markets.

Great hotel for the price. Set on Giudecca so have to pay daily fare to get over to main island. Few small negatives about our stay - tv and phone in room didn’t work, the air con was blowing out hot air and made a massive noise. However all that aside this is a great hotel for the price. Staff really helpful, clean, good shower and good facilities. Bar in hotel really reasonable prices. Also there is a minibar within the room which they charge a really reasonable 20 euros for all of the items within. Great trip to Venice and would definetely visit hotel again!!

This is my second stay at Hotel Giudecca, and it was just as nice second time around. Friendly service (especially at breakfast) and a lovely space to be in. Great location too, away from the crowds but still so accessible to St Mark's (as a starting point). Handy Vap line 8 goes straight to the Lido.

This certainly isn’t a hotel I would rave about but it wasn’t awful and I haven’t been to Venice before so can’t make any direct comparisons to local hotels.

What I can tell you is not to be fooled by some of the pictures when you book your room, we paid extra for a ‘Superior’ room and the picture of the room when we booked showed a balcony - this is why we booked superior because we like a balcony. We arrived at the hotel and were quite surprised when she showed us to our room as it was a very basic room with a small window and if you stuck your head out of the window you could see the canal beneath. She explained to us that this was a ‘canal view’ and she then went on to explain that there was no difference between a classic room and a superior room and actually one of the nicer rooms is shown in the pictures of superior on the Expedia website but it’s a classic so my recommendation would be not to pay the extra money for no reason. They do however have ONE room that does have a balcony and you could request this if you knew in advance and it was available.

The breakfast wasn’t great, very basic with a very small bit of cold meat, some croissants and two different cereals with some fruit and yogurt. I think we paid extra for the breakfast option and I wouldn’t do this again - I would go to the many local cafes and get something nicer for less money.

You have to bear in mind that if you stay in Giudecca you have no choice other than to get day ticket on waterboat

It is just off the main part of Venice a 10 minutes water taxi ride on the public water bus.
Breakfast was good, continental.

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and very comfortable. The property is easy to find and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The breakfast has a nice variety and it is kept very clean. The room my daughter and I received did not have any kind of view but it was alright because everything else about the property made up for it. I would without hesitation recommend Hotel Guidecca. It is also close to services such as pharmacy, laundromat, post office, as well as cafes and restaurants.

It's alright if you don't mind the sleeping condit

The service is quite good, people are very nice and helpful. But the hotel condition is really quite worn out, and worst of all, the AC is blowing wind to my face when I sleep and it's freezing. But if I don't turn on the AC, the room would has no air, and opening window is not really an option because it's not safe and mosquitoes are everywhere.

Quiet, modern and comfortable

A great hotel in Guidecca, with friendly staff and clean facilities. The hotel gives easy directions to find it when you first arrive. The great thing about staying here is the rooms are so comfortable, and after a long day walking around the inner islands or cruising through the lagoon, you can get away from the crowds so quickly to a peaceful, spacious apartment. Sometimes the TV reception is a little intermittent in the evening, but if you’re out for dinner it won’t bother you! A great hotel.

This was our third visit to this friendly and comfortable hotel, which is in a beautifully transformed old building just a very short walk away to the nearest vaparetto stop. Being in a quiet residential area you feel that you are an observer of local life. The staff go out of their way to make your stay a delight.

At first it looks great, the stag are nice as well. The problem is two things. 1. Not well situated, on the opposite island from the main city, makes you dependent on the water bus to go anywhere, 2. The most uncomfortable beds my wife and I have ever slept on. Shame really, the hotel seems like it’s trying to uphold a high standard, the beds just ruined it for us.

This is our third stay and once again everything was of a high standard. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the staff first class. It's lovely and quiet and a great place to relax after the busy tourist spots. If I was going to be slightly negative the rooms are a little tired decor wise, we first visited over fifteen years ago and the decor is still the same. This wouldn't stop us from highly recommending the hotel.

The hotel staff were very helpful, even providing clear instructions on how to get there. My room was clean, comfortable and overlooked the canal. Blissfully quiet. Had air conditioning which I didn't need at that time of year. Breakfast had a good choice of continental buffet items. Lots of good restaurants on Guidecca where you could eat well and relatively cheaply. Easy and frequent vaporetto service to main part of city.

It is a nice hotel close to the Palanca stop.,

When I stayed at that hotel in July of 2015 I had a wonderful room with a double bed, however this time I got a twin size bed room like a dorm room and the shower in the room had water running all over the floor. They then moved me to another room with a proper shower but the room was still so small that I could barely move around in the room. It was still as small as a dorm room with a twin size bed. It seems as though they changed the name of the hotel from Domina Home and made the rooms smaller.

Great place to stay away from the crowds

This was our last stop in a tour of Italy and it was ideal to relax and unwind before travelling home.
Giudecca is just a short water bus ride away from the main attractions on the main island and once you have done your gondola ride and seen the sights it's really nice to get back away from the crowds.
The hotel is very clean and the staff always smiling and very helpful. There is a great little bar with really good prices to come back to after a meal at one of the many restaurants on the island or perhaps a coffee during the day.

Nice hotel in quiet area

The hotel is sort of tucked away on the Guidecca Island of Venice. It's not too far of a walk to the water bus stop that takes you to the main island of Venice. The room was nice with a comfortable bed. The restroom was small (compared to hotels in the U.S.) but wasn't an inconvenience, in fact, the shower was really nice. The staff was friendly and accommodating. WiFi is only available in the lobby - slightly inconvenient but not too bad. The breakfast buffet was small but we enjoyed it.

Good hotel away from the crowds.

This was the third time we have stayed here. It is always a good experience. The hotel is quiet and away from the crowds of the main island. Giudecca is changing (there are more restaurants and bars now) but it still has a more local charm.

Would definitely stay again

Very warm welcome and we got an upgrade which was lovely on my partner's 60th bday. Hotel staff v knowledgable and booked excellent restaurants for us. Transport to/from was v easy.

Don't accept room number 1!

I was given room number 1 when I checked in, which initially I thought was a nice room. However on my first night I realised that the room next door was separated from mine by a locked door, which backed onto their bathroom. Therefore I was woken up by the very clear noise of my neighbours using the bathroom and toilet. Not very pleasant. In the morning I was again woken early by my neighbours showering and arguing. The noise was very clear, and very loud. I can only guess that room number 1 was originally some sort of storage room that they didn't convert into a guest room properly, as they didn't bother to make a solid wall between the neighbouring rooms.
The next day I told reception about the problem, and the receptionist seemed to know exactly what I was talking about, so I was obviously not the first person to draw their attention to this issue. I was informed that there wouldn't be anyone in the room next door to me for the remainder of my stay, and indeed there was no more noise after that first night.
Therefore, I would recommend that if you make a booking for a single room with this hotel, contact them to tell them you don't what room number 1!
Other than that the hotel seemed fine. The room was clean, with a nice spacious bathroom. The staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special. The location was nice and quiet.

Lovely comfortable hotel on quiet Guidecca.

What can I say about this hotel. It is perfect for a romantic holiday. Ideally located on the quiet island of Guidecca. Only a small vaporetti ride from the main part of Venice and Santa Giorgio Maggiore with views to die for over the lagoon. Spacious well kept clean rooms. Very friendly staff who are extremely helpful. Nice quiet breakfast room with plenty of breakfast. This is the second time we have stayed here and couldn't be better. There are no bad things about this hotel. Reasonable price and very nice. We were reluctant to leave and would go back again tomorrow. Can't praise it enough.

No wifi

In 2017 it's nearly impossible to take a trip expecting the promised wifi at the hotel only to show up and not have it. There is no internet in the rooms. We were told there would be wifi in the public areas. There was not. There was a very weak signal shared by anyone huddling in the small lobby, but it was barely sufficient. This place is overpriced for no internet.

Be part of the community

Outside the central part of Venice, and need to take a boat to get there, but part of a friendly community. In the evenings, local families come out to walk around and kids playing. Very quiet all night and great views of the canal it sits on from the rooms. Great filling breakfast.

Nice Hotel in a convenient location

A very clean and pleasant Hotel with very friendly staff. The room was clean and comfortable. However the shower cubical was on the small size. Frequently when turning around I caught the tap which resulted in cold or very hot water being sprayed out. Care is needed when using the shower.
We had originally passed up on the breakfast, planning to find somewhere outside to breakfast. This proved difficult at a good price. So after the second day we had breakfast at the hotel. It was veery good and well worth the money. I would recommend having breakfast at the hotel.

The Wifi was horrendously slow and only available in the reception. I gave up using it after the first day and relighed on my phones 3G connection.

The hotel is in a good location less than 4 mins walk to the waterbus stop and only two stops to St Marco.

Great staff / location , breakfast was amazing! One thing I'd say is they advertise the superior room with a balcony but it turns out that room is a timeshare that isint always available! But great hotel!

Nice hotel, bad location

This hotel is not the same one as in is the photo shown on Expedia. It is at the end of an alley in Giudecca, which is not in Venice. Our room was nice and clean but it was basically a basement with two small windows facing the alley and the only view was people's feet as they walked by. The receptionist (Eleonora) was great and so were all the staff members but the hotel was not as described. Breakfast was ok. You need to take the vaporrato (water bus) to get to Venice and when you consider the cost of the vaporatto it might be more economical to stay in the mainland. Wi-Fi does not work in the rooms, only in the lobby and very slow and sometimes nonexistent.

I wouldn't stay again as the bed was too hard. The room was smaller than I expected.

Peace and tranquillity in bustling Venice

Initially we had doubts about staying on Guidecca which is not one of the main islands of Venice but it turned out to be an inspired choice. The hotel is a short walk from the Vaporetto stop and just 20 yards or so from the waterfront. Getting too and from the main islands is simplicity itself yet you are on island that has the peace and tranquillity that the main islands do not. The hotel is surrounded by canals and we had windows on both sides with a view of the water from both. But the main selling point for us was the staff who are superb, friendly, helpful and attentive. Probably the best I have met in recent years, they were even tolerant of my dreadful Italian! The rooms are significantly larger than most you will find in Venice, exceptionally clean with plenty of character. Breakfasts were also good and there are plenty of good value restaurants nearby. If I am lucky enough to return to Venice again this is where I will stay.
