Too tight of quarters for my preference. And only 1 bathroom for 10 people in a very tight space. Definitely an art to maneuver luggage.

And there is not an elevator to the third floor. Be ready :)

Very nice and clean hostel. I love it. The only thing to be aware of is that you need to get a Ferry to get to the hostel and back to the main island. Each way cost €9.5. Other than that, it is a great place to stay.

Loved that it wasn’t on a tourist island. Very quiet with lovely locals everywhere.
Rooms were very tight/dark and there was no kitchen for hostel guests to use. The bar food downstairs wasn’t great but the environment was spacious, welcoming and easy to hang out in.

Beautiful location, design, staff, but sleeping…!

Generator is a fun place, well designed and at a perfect location for exploring Venice. The people who work there are very kind and helpful and the common spaces are appealing. Good breakfasts and snacks at any time.

Sleeping in a large dormitory is the deal here, but my dormitory was very stuffy unless you knew to open the window wide before bedtime. The lockers under the beds worked well, and so did the phone charging plug by the bed, but the light by my bed was gone and was never replaced. The shared bathrooms and showers were good, but need fans to clear the steam, and need to be cleaned more than once a day.

The Saturday night disco dance from 10 pm -2am was very loud and even shook the floor of the dormitories. Even noise cancelling headphones couldn’t shut it out.

So— lots of great things, and a few that I would rather not have to deal with!

We stayed here 10 years and the atmosphere was far better as the bar area seemed to busier (probably due to pricing) and there wasn't security inside making sure that people were not drinking after 11pm

Fun spot to stay for a few days. The bathrooms are shared and are a bit tight, but for the price you can't complain. Definitely a unique experience if you have never stayed in a Hostel before. The coffee/drink bar was great, good area to mingle as well.

Note, you do have to get there by water taxi, so be prepared to buy a ticket or day pass upon arrival.

I read a lot of reviews, many w negative comments, like slow internet.
I enjoyed Generator, clean rooms, easy set up, big play room w bar and food and good internet.
The biggest issue is that it’s not on the big Venice island, which means figuring out the vaporettos to the spot. Not hard, plenty of boats and doesn’t limit things, but a slight inconvenience. But the view at night is amazing.

It’s a great place to stay, nice decoration, great and very informative members of the staff. In my opinion, this hostel has a slightly lower price compared to others because you have to get a ferry boat to get there.
The ONLY disadvantage is that it’s located in a island and you have to pay a ferry do get from/to. The pass I bought costed me about 20 euros and was valid for 24 hours. It might not be a disadvantage for some as I could use this pass to ride boats all over venice’s canals. These boats are kind of public transport that takes you all over the city.

I really enjoy my 4 day stay here.. the property itself was very nice for a hostel, the staff Sarah and luchea was super kind and helpful, the others that work the desk was nice alsooooo..

I stayed in 201 and it was clean every day and air conditioning which was a plus…the ladies shower was super gross , the shower needs to be beached down to remove all the mold 👎

Other than the shower, this is a great place away from tourist crowds, very chilled atmosphere, close to waterbus, market, dining, attractions etc..
I would highly recommend and if I’m in Venice again I would stay here again …

Overall good vibes and the lounge area is very cool pool table, games , reading area, bar etc.. this is in a great location. I had my coffee every morning outside by the water and that was most lovely.. overall great place to stay.. oh by the way this was my 1st time staying in a hostel

The staff was great and available when needed. The location was breath taking. Eating while watching the sun set on Venice was a memorable experience. The public transit ferry dock was very close. I had a 7 day transit pass for the city which I found very useful.

The location is great despite not being on the main island. Easy transportation as well, but you absolutely need a vaporetti pass. Also plan towels/hair dryer/lock/soap etc because those all come at an extra cost, which was very disappointing. The shared bathroom are so small, you have very little room to put down your things or hand your clothes while you are in the shower.

Great budget hostel.

Super friendly staff. Very well kept dorm room. Comfy bed. Perfect for exploring Venice without being stuck in with the crowds all the time. The ferries are frequent and super fast; probably quicker to get to Piazza San Marco from Giudecca by ferry than from other hostels in Central Venice.

My only confusion was that I had booked a room with a private bathroom and it didn’t have one. Other people from other rooms bad access to it. It was a female bathroom but often males would use it. Didn’t like the showers as they needed a good clean and there was nowhere private to change. Also anyone could see you showering (even with the ‘partially frosted’ glass. This needs to be improved.

Generator is always a good deal

Hostel is nice and well located, although you have to take a waterbus to go anywhere, but that's Venice. The rooms were comfortable and clean, my only complain is that the top floor is very warm in the summer, especially on the top bunk bed. Also, there is no fridge nor kitchen to prep your own meals but the breakfast is well stocked. Staff is friendly and the hostel is spacey.,

The hotel is located on a beautiful calm island. Which must be reached by local water transport. That is, you must also go to the center on it. You can’t eat, drink and cook your food inside. Showers and a toilet are scanty, because of this there is constantly water and pieces of paper towels. Towel rental costs 5 €, more expensive than a hostel in Switzerland, where its rent is 1 €. Their food is semi-finished. The rest is normal, a large presentable hall with many sofas, armchairs. Great coffee in my opinion. This is mostly a youth hostel, which is undoubtedly a plus. The result, if not for the beautiful view, good acquaintances, and coffee, I certainly would not have returned here. In addition, the price must also be multiplied by 2 since, the ticket for the fare costs about the same

The bunk rooms are crowded, and most nights they played music which was very audible in the 1st floor bunk rooms. The bathrooms were not ventilated well (very very humid), and there was almost always water on the floor.

However, the base room rate was reasonable, even with an added 6.50 euro for breakfast. The bunk rooms were clean, the staff was helpful and cordial. The location works very well if you have an unlimited vaporetto pass, probably not otherwise. The laundry, etc is expensive and they add various charges onto everything. But, that’s probably the cost of doing business in Venice.

Very good but some minor draw backs

The generator was a great hostel even though I was in a 16 bed dorm I didn’t really feel that uncomfortable due to the beds and how they are set up. Very comfortable. The staff were super helpful and wanted to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The only draw backs is the location, you have to get a ferry to the main island of Venice and there were only 2 showers for a whole floor and they were tiny and not very private. For the price compared to the rest of Venice it’s a great option though. I would recommend and stay again.

An Ideal Hostel in Venice!

This hostel has everything a traveler could ask for. It’s conveniently located near public transportation. The hostel has clean rooms and bathrooms, a friendly and helpful staff, and restaurant/cafe that serves your traditional Italian breakfast and more. Not to mention, the view from the lobby and some rooms is picturesque.

The air conditioning is an issue. I read the reviews and thought maybe they are exaggerating but no. The issue is the unit is too small for the square footage, there an open area to the roof and the style is not compatible for the unit on the 3rd floor. I did not sleep well at all which is a shame because the linens were comfy

Very cool vibe. Friendly staff. Inexpensive, yet fairly good food and drinks in the common area. Nice view (Sunsets!) The island is very peaceful and fairly easy to get in and out by boat (though I never tried after sunset).

Earplugs are must since downstairs turns into a dance floor after 11. If you’re specially annoyed by noise, ask for a on a higher floor; I was on the first floor and even with headphones, I could feel the bass through the bunkbed beams. If you’re young and ready for a good time, this is the place.

Great stay but we had noisy neighbours that just didn’t stop throughout our 2 night stay. Location was good but keep in mind it’s on an island opposite the main area of Venice so you need to get the ferrie across and is 7.50euro per trip and there isn’t much surrounding the hostel food wise ect. Food at the hostel was convenient and affordable. Private room was great for a quick getaway.

Good location, well priced

If you have a vaporetto pass and are a solo traveller, this is a good choice for expensive Venice. I did have to ask for the room's soap to be refilled, but otherwise the cleaning is fairly good. The only issue is that the bathroom floor becomes absolutely soaked when anyone showers, as there is no bath mat. Massive slipping hazard. This is a really big hostel, and it almost feels like a hotel. Nice view and very easy to access San Marco's piazza.

The hotel is convenient for those who have low budget baring in mind they tolerate the noise from other people sharing the room and as long as they know that towels and shampo available by extrs payment. The staf are wonderful and the hotel is clean and comfartable

As hostels go it was very good . Signage ot more info at checkin might be useful. Had heavy duffel so elevator to 3rd floor would have been good as elevator goes only to 2nd. When they put me on 3rd floor would have been nice as I dragged my large duffel past desk and into elevator that they pointed that out

I love the place! Cozy, quiet, scenic and clean! The only issue was that I wish I was told that it would cost €7.5 euro to cross to the hostel’s side of Venice and back each way! I ended up paying more for the transfer than for the hostel itself!

Absolutely the worst place ever. I contacted BEFORE i booked if I would need to take a water bus to get to it as I have a HUGE fear of being in water (diagnosed phobia) and needed an accommodation I could walk to. they blatantly lied and then I got there and once I was already IN Venice they told me I HAD to take a water bus (vaporetto) to get to them and I had to book a very expensive other same day acclamation. Horrible.

Just wanted to see the design and the vibe. The concept is great, however if you are gonna get a private room like I did you could easily get a room at a 4-star hotel for that price. The room was small, clean and had a great view. Toilets at the common areas need hooks and some cleaning. Overall it could use some improvement and maintenance. It was an experience.

Great hostel, easy to access but away from the hustle and bustle and crowds of the main centre but still in a very safe area. Friendly, helpful and approachable staff, clean rooms, nice atmosphere in the bar/reception/dining area downstairs. This was my second stay here and I doubt it'll be my last - great value for money.

Great Value for money plus almost new facilities

Location is great - close to ferry terminal. Great almost brand new facilities and the bar/receiption looks great. The only feedback for improvement (to make almost perfect stay) is to have many of towel hangers or at least some close to the showers AND somewhat soundproof windows to alleviate noise outside! I sleep well regardless of its surrounding but my 'one-night' roommates struggled a bit ;) But above all these did not let me down at all. I'd score 4.9 out of 5

Great location and atmosphere. I was in a small mixed dorm of 5 beds, which comes with the usual issues when sharing space with strangers - especially when one of them snores like a freight train for two nights! If travelling on your own try getting a private room (or have really good earplugs).
As the hostel is located on one of the smaller islands, I'd recommend buying a 24 or 48 hour vaporetto pass so you can take the ferry as often as you like - much cheaper than buying individual tickets.

This hotel is very oroented to young people. They have open bar and snacks until late so it invites people staying there to share and talk late which may make it noisy for some, in our case we been a family of 5 found it very friendly, staff really nice, it seems that it went thru renovations not long ago. Would recommend it.

Staffs are all very friendly and e-mail they gave me before check in had good amount of information which is very helpful.
For some reason, on first night A/C was off and towel was out... It made my stay a bit harder. Shower room can be more clean.
Over all I could enjoy stay in Venice, though.

We loved our specious and new room, specifically the view from our windows, only downside was that there was a small glass window between our room and the room next door, still was very private because the window doesn't open and the ceiling is so high just didn't understand why it existed, but that was a minor thing, everything else was excellent

Economic option but doesn't feel low-budget

I've stayed in a lot of hostels, and this one was certainly the most luxurious. Less dorm and more shared living. Nice energy, cool decor, affordable and tasty food onsite. Loved that it was away from the main noise/crowds of Venice but easily and quickly accessible by vaporetto. My only complaint? Walked past it the first time because the only sign out front was for the cafe menu, and when you look in the doors you see the bar but no sign for reception. I would stay here again.

Everything was almost great. Rooms are a bit cramped. And the walls might as well not exist because you can hear a pin drop from the room next door. Oh not to mention that there are 2 window panels at the top of 2 walls in each room that show into the other room. This goes back to the paper thin walls. Oh and if your neighbor has their lights on, you basically do too.

good location and quiet over looking canal
room was very clean and so comfortable in quiet area and they support you with linen
reception was Excellent. So friendly and helpful especialyAlberto and Sara who helped me and arranged my visits how can i go to places and them located .........etc even during my way to airport
there are arestaurant in the hostel and another one next to the hostel even supermarket prix next to hostel to buy any things you need
my problem there there is no kitchen or computerts to use also
you need to spend 8 euros to cross canal to other side to wander islands and another 8 euros to back to hostel

This hostel takes advantage of being one of the only hostels in Venice. They charge you for a map. A bit ridiculous considering the amount of money they charge per night. There was mould in the shower and the staff dismissed my conerns when I brought it up. The 7.50 Euro water bus to get to the main island adds up quickly after a few days. Apply that money to a cheap hotel on the main island instead for better service. When I checked in, the staff was annoyed my wet jacket was dripping on the counter. The top of the walls have a window/glass between rooms which makes noise travel very easily between rooms. It can get loud. I wouldn't recommend here, they are most interested in making money off you than you enjoying your stay.

Comfy, clean hostel

The breakfast was expensive for not very much choice (there are cheaper places close by). Great views of Venice from the island the hostel is on, although it does mean you have to get the expensive water bus every day. Overall a good place to stay in Venice.
