The hotel was close to major amenities, safe and the room was spacious and nicely laid out.
Maria
Our ferry was late so we got there pretty late but within their \"open lobby\" time.
Got greeted, I let them know my friend was waiting in the car, made sure we had a room with 2 beds. I assumed this was sufficient for them to understand we were 2 of us. Got checked in, reparked and got inside with backpacks. At this point they closed...and we found out they gave us one key. For two people. Which in itself isn't terrible...but now we were forced to choose \"do I poop in the dark...or does she lug her suitcase up the stairs\". Because the lights need the room key...and the elevator needs a room key. Mind you no other power is run off the key...only the lights. My iPad was charging just fine.
The hotel itself was fine. Bed kept moving if you breathed on it...but otherwise it was fine. Breakfast had world's tiniest table for 2 people where we could barely fit the plates between the two of us.
And not their fault specially....but I am tired after a full 9 days of \"Full breakfast\" which is essentially the same. I guess they cater to the \"this is my first stop I need to experience it\" crowd. And I don't know what else would be a better option.

Experience was fine. Polite staff, good bar/lounge area, spacious and quiet rooms. Could use some better upkeep and area isnt great. Also the cleaning staff would knock on doors much too early and then not come back
John
Room very clean and if you need anything the staff are very quick to help you out
sally
Bar staff very helpful re special diet requests
Michael
Good breakfast and Excellent location
Rochelle
Would have received 5 stars, however, my shower was broken so it was a rather chilly experience and one of my windows wouldn't close properly.

Donal checked us in at reception - very friendly and welcoming. Room was perfect - very clean, plenty of towels, bodywash and shampoo supplied.
Bed and pillows super comfy.
Breakfast was excellent.
Lovely hotel, nice pleasant atmosphere. Very central for everything. Would definitely stay again.

Paid £230 +£24 for breakfast for a deluxe room booked a month ago for my sons graduation got keys for room 5oclock room was filthy carpet had dirt spots all over it bathroom had mould and hairs and dirt everywhere tiles never had been cleaned was given another room on the seventh floor a bit cleaner but had no option had meal booked for 6.30 told reception next morning done nothing never seen worse
Adrienne
A very good location with comfortable rooms. It’s listed as a 4* hotel but it operates like a 3*. The dining room staff were mediocre (eating greasy food and coughing while we were paying our bill at the counter; no decaf at breakfast; the buffet “ok.”.). We stayed 3 nights and our room key needed daily charging which was annoying. There are no bathroom amenities and that room needed refurbishing. But the beds were comfortable, the room clean.
Jean-Denis
The bathroom was not super clean and also the carpet. Thinfs were broken in the bathroom that could easily fixed. They should offre discount for the parking near by the hôtel.
Kellie
Air conditioning worked excellent
Daniel
I’ve stayed here a few times but this time has been the worse experience from cold staff to dirty rooms. The price is definitely not worth it. The curtains were especially dirty which was very disappointing given the hotel’s standards.
kieran
Not good. Not helpful. Room ok

The phone did not work! They promised to fixing it or change the phone, neither happened!
The tv didn’t work, and finally they came and fixed it.
This hotel is not a 4 star hotel, I would recommend 3 stars or 2.5 stars.
They did not give us the accurate information for getting a taxi to the airport. We told them how much luggage we have and a wheelchair. They said we would reserve the appropriate taxi for us.
The taxi driver came on time, but he said he can’t take all the luggage and the wheelchair plus 3 people! So we had to order another taxi! They knew we will be flying on klm airlines, yet they didn’t tell to go to the Belfast airport, instead they told the taxi to take us to intentional airport. KLM fly only from the local airport. We arrive at the international terminal and then told we need to go to the regional airport. We paid $300 in taxi just to get to the other airport. They could have told us that from the beginning, rather than the stress of getting there last minute and exusted and we were the last passengers to check in!
So I will give them 2.5 stars if I give them 3 stars I will be very generous!?

Lovely Hotel, Great location only 5/10minutes walk to the City Hall. The staff were very helpful and friendly
Deborah
It was a last minute fill in for a house rental that cancelled. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Yvonne
It was a quick stay it was a good location

So this is definitely not a 4* hotel. I wish I had looked more into the reviews before I booked. Plus points was the central location within walking distance of everything and the staff who were very helpful. The breakfast was good, a little repetitive but overall nice.
The room was cleaned daily but the actual room itself had stains on the carpets. We booked a deluxe room, when we checked in, this was not in any way deluxe, in fact we asked to move as it was so dingy and dated. Like I said the staff were helpful and great and moved us to a different room which was better. The decor is so dated and old and was very disappointing. Book an executive room and just go with the idea that it's not 4* and you will be ok!

Great location and fantastic breakfast. Clean, good air con.
Samantha
The room and location were great! Helpful staff with recommendations and great room service. Our only issue was not having a fan in the bathroom. It got pretty steamy from the shower and water dripped from the walls and ceiling. Bottom of the bathroom door was dirty, which we only noticed because it got on the floor mat. Nice hotel, but can't really take a hot shower there.
Leonard
Stay was lovely food was great at dinner
Kathleen
This hotel was lovely. Room was spacious and it had a pot to boil water and coffee and tea bags. It’s within a reasonable walk to the Belfast central terminal for a bus/train. I had a suitcase so the staff called me a taxi.
Darren
Upon arrival our checkin was nice and easy with the room cards waiting for us ,our room was very clean and refreshed daily ,our room was also very quiet giving us a good nights sleep ,staff were very polite. We plan to return ti Belfast in the near future and will stay here again as its a nice location for getting out around the city
Jason
Another fabulous stay at the Clayton. I cannot fault this hotel. Very comfortable, great breakfast and really helpful staff.
Susan
Good location near Donegal Square. The room was clean and comfortable and staff were courteous and helpful.
Ross
Great staff
Anna
Clean room, good size. Only disappointment is that the pool is no longer there which I hadn’t realised prior to booking (in hindsight i should have double checked but seeing as it was there last time I visited it was not something that you would think to confirm)
Miss
Excellent location, room and breakfast.
Peter
All okay except:
Poor toilet flush.
V Noisy (outside) in the small hours due to customers of a nearby Night Club milling around outside in the street.

My favourite hotel in Belfast. Very comfortable rooms, fantastic breakfast and really helpful staff.
BERNADETTE
Bedside table had large gouges which had attempted to be covered up with unsightly black and white gunk.
Bathroom had no shelf at all so nowhere to put face wash etc. It was very dated and had a funny smell after I showered

My room was dated, patched and mended. I got a decent deal, but I wouldn’t be happy paying more. Some nice perks, like a fridge and treats.
jessica
Rooms are lovely, spacious, beds are very comfortable. Excellent location

Ww enjoyed our stay at the Clayton. Rooms were clean and good size - staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again!
Ray
Nice bed and bedroom, very central, slightly dated bathroom and towels in our room.
Amazing staff, location and enjoyed our stay, if towels and housekeeping improved, 5 star review, honestly, I'd still book again, might have been unlucky with our towels and pillows.

Have stayed numerous times and the hotel definitely needs some investment and TLC. The rooms and bathrooms are now quite tired, and unfortunately the pool and gym have also shut over the last few years.
Staff friendly and helpful and location is very good with many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Good self parking available close by too.
We did have an issue on our floor with a group of other guests. When this was brought to the attention of staff they apologised and acknowledged it had been an issue. There wasn't much they could do about them to be fair to the staff.

Good value, great location. Breakfast was tepid and rather average.
Jason
My favourite hotel to stay at in Belfast. Really helpful and friendly people, very comfortable rooms and a fabulous breakfast - fried soda bread and potato bread is available, a must for a breakfast in Ulster 😉
Samantha
The breakfast was absolutely disgusting. The eggs were sitting in this weird brown water, none of the tables were cleared and the bowls need the yogurt were dirty
Tim
Great location
Julie
Such a lovely stay. Really nice atmosphere, staff were lovely and the breakfast was one of the nicest buffet breakfasts I've had.

am amazing breakfast selection., great central location.

Staff were excellent. Very helpful, accommodating.
Exec room nice.
Hotel was busy and looked well used in places, but generally clean and tidy.

Perfect location. Welcoming staff. Highly recommend
Jason
I really like this hotel. The rooms are always well appointed and clean, the staff here are brilliant and the buffet breakfast is always very good.
Karl
Our room was on the 4th floor. No issue with that but there seemed to be a little cluster of rooms all quite close together. Again no issues with neighbours or noise. The room was just disappointing. A view of a brick wall and a yard meaning there was very little natural light in the room. The bed was also not the most comfortable. The desk seemed to be out of place and the bathroom could have been a little tidier.
The food and staff were great in all honesty, pity the room tarnished it a bit.

Christopher
Bouncer at night telling colleagues about someone using inappropriate language.
It meant that trying to enjoy a quiet drink was not possible.
The chairs in the bar are also old, dirty and uncomfortable

Great location
Krupa
There was dust on the coffee machine and the bath tub showed considerable wear and tear. The property overall feels old and the breakfast was not worth the price. The staff however are brilliant and the only saving grace of this place.
David
Great breakfast. Clean room and very comfortable bed.

Room was very dirty with damage in side table, dirty towel, grubby shower curtain and dirty bathroom. An air vent outside rattled all night disturbing sleep
Chloe
A good budget hotel however not the cleanest. There was a finger nail on the floor (not one of ours) as well as a nail clipping too.
Fabric furniture like chairs, not the cleanest either.
Bed was super comfy and the staff were lovely too.

Room was ok. Stains on carpet. Paintwork could do with an uplift.

Room is ok, it’s clean but nothing special. But we had a bad experienced on our second day breakfast time. It was very busy, and all able is full but it seems like the people serving in breakfast on the 29/12/2025 doesn’t know how to handle it when it’s full house and a server is not nice at all.
Heather
Didnt have breakfast

Pathetic customer service. Initially had to wait 90 minutes for our room, when we finally got it we were sent to the wrong room. We waited a further 45 minutes for the suite and had to go ask if our room key was ready as staff weren’t in any hurry to help us. Room wasn’t clean, dirty floor and things in the drawers, we had 1 robe between the 2 of us and 1 towel. We didn’t have toiletries or the “luxury’s” that was supposedly included and before we went to sleep we had to remake the bed as the sheets weren’t on. There was also silverfish crawling on the sink and floor of the bathroom. A valuable item also went missing and the staff have been more than useless in their approach, if they had of reacted when the item was reported it would have been found as we gave the exact location it would have been in. I was assured 100% by a manager that in his time working at the Clayton there had never been a theft and that the housekeeping staff would 100% find the item as it was in a drawer and they do drawer checks between each guest (which based on the cleanliness is a lie). I have rang 30+ times for an update and have been told i’ll be “called back”, I am still waiting for this. If you value your peace and want to feel safe during your hotel stay DO NOT stay at the Clayton Belfast.
Ava
Hotel was lovely, the bed was comfy but the bathroom was quite dirty. There was hair on the floor from the last guest and dirt on the door
Jason
My hotel of choice when staying over in Belfast. Every time I stay here, I get a clean and comfortable room. The breakfast buffet is always really good too. Best of all are the people who work here. Always really friendly and helpful.
Judith
Clean room, good breakfast, lovely bar area
Cassandra
We paid for a deluxe double. The bedroom area was fine. Bed was comfortable. However, the bathroom wasn't very modern. Not all of the bathroom items were refilled and bathroom was a little dingy. The hair dryer did not work. The lobby is very inviting and staff were friendly and helpful. Was really helpful to be able to store luggage in the reception area after checking out.
Rose
Comfortable bed . Good bedlinen. Friendly staff. Central location
Lucille
Room was clean, very comfortable bed, but if you had hip issues it was hard to get into the bath for a shower
Jean
Friendly staff. Room clean and comfortable
Derek
The hotel lobby, restaurant and lounge are exquisite. The rooms leave a lot to be desired. They are befitting 2-3 stars.
Showers barely work. No true tiolet paper holder, just one end of a broken one.
Rooms are small. After spending time in the Dublin location, this one was a sad disappointiment

Gemma
Staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Rooms was beautiful and clean, all the added touches from bathrobes to complimentary water, coffee, fizzy drinks and chocolate. Will definitely be returning soon.
King Fai
On average, the room isn't spotless. No proactive service from anyone during the stay
wayne
Lovely hotel smack bang in the centre of Belfast. Staff were fantastic, rooms clean and comfortable and the breakfast great. Easy walk into Belfast where all the bars are. Prices at the hotel bar weren't daft either.
