DON’T STAY HERE!
There were bugs crawling out of the drain when we arrived and even after they came and sprayed. Half the room’s wallpaper was gone and the half that was still there had brown and black fuzzies growing out of it. The light fixture in the room did not turn on (even after turning the power switch on the wall). There was hair from previous guests in the shower and floor. We tried using the room phone to call the front desk and no one picked up. The breakfast we purchased with the reservation was very limited and not worth the price.
Sadly, when we decided to vacate early because of the health concerns for my family, we did not get help from the hotel or booking company.

Tiny, but clean room. Tiny bathroom, wet room (no shower curtain) so toilet and floor got wet. Great to have aircon - huge help in high humidity. TV remote didn't work, even after new batteries. Hard bed, just thin mattress on board.
Great location - right opposite main station. Also buses right outside, very convenient.
Breakfast across the road in main hotel - not great.
Not a bad place, would stay again..

A cute little boutique hotel that has a 10-star rating for location. The MTR and bus stop is right outside the door and navigating the transit system was so easy. The location was also perfect for walking in all directions to get to different sites and areas.

Like: the hotel is close to everything
Dislike : when we first got into the room the smell of the room,the hallway and the elevator smells like strong chemicals and the air-conditioned takes time to cool the room.No ventilation ,after they cleaned the room they should let the air circulate so when the guests check in at least the smell is not too strong .If you have sensitive smell this hotel is not for you.Staff are nice.

Bad admin mgmt although service staff are friendly

The booking mentioned my card will not be charged, only for reservation purpose, the guest will make his payment himself. Yet the hotel told the guest payment already settled with the card used for booking, then the guest thought since it is settled and checked out. This is not right!

Top location!! - 15 minutes by foot to Merlion, 2 minutes to Clarke Quay and Boat Quay.

The rooms were clean, but the walls need a little painting or tapestry, a shower curtain, and more comfortable matresses.

If you don't want to spend much time in the room, it's good enough.

Small boutique hotel & practical stay

Property is quite run down despite the very kind service of reception staff to allow early check in and immediate attention to door lock issue and food stalls locations. There are several drawers to store items but need detailed cleaning of corners and wipe down of cabinet surfaces and bench seats. Many scuff marks on walls from wear & tear. Good tv channel selections and clear. Highly effective and rapid cool AC but grouting in bathroom wall and blinds need de- moulding. Good coolness in mini fridge but just a jug to hold drinking water and kettle for coffee and tea bags. Interesting 2x top loader washing machines and space to hang for drying in the open air on level 6 aided by the powerful warm air output from (the ventilation units?). Readily accessible by elevator and laundry powder available from reception. Bus stop to Chinatown shops and food places right outside hotel and Clarke Quay MRT is right across the other side via the overhead walk bridge and there’s a mall there for retail and fast food after crossing over.

It is horrible to find and locate this property because the front door is being covered under the skywalk. You cannot find the sign of this hotel driving down the street. The hotel should consider placing a sign somewhere so that car passing through this area can locate the hotel. The hotel smell and the room is too tiny. We had an awful experience during our stay. The location is close to everything which is a plus.

The rooms are small but pack all the amenities you need including a fridge, kettle, Wi-Fi, TV and bidet!
It's close to Clarke Quay which has a great night life and opposite a MRT/bus station so you can get anywhere.
Everything is close by too! I do mean EVERYTHING you would to visit in Singapore.
In contrast, I'm staying in a more expensive Hotel 81 right now, and it doesn't have half the amenities!

We were shocked when we checked into this dirty, hotel with a broken air conditioner and spent an awful first night in the 30°C Singaporean heat.
In the morning, we were woken up by the construction site next door to the hotel with drilling and hammering. It looked like our room hadn't been cleaned at all before our check-in; greyish, spotty sheets and towels, hair, dirt and dust everywhere.
We complained about the issues to the managerbut received the same dirty room, even dirtier towels, greyish spotty sheets, no toilet paper, and found a rubbish bin on our bed! After a couple of days, we discovered that we had been bitten by bed bugs!!! My son was really scared to sleep there!
Our holiday was completely ruined in this hotel.
Staying for 9 nights, we didn't receive much room cleaning or changing of sheets, woken up every morning with the construction noise next door and bitten by bed bugs.
The shower had mouldy and dirty tiles and didn't have any curtains. After a couple of minutes of showering, it was creating a pool of water that was spilling over onto the toilet next to it. Not to mention the foul smelling body wash they provided. The wallpaper was ripped off and dirty. The safe was broken and wasn't mounmounted to anything. The beds are old, the pillows and mattresses are really hard, uncomfortable and smell old. Curtains were like crumpled paper coming off the hooks. The windows have dust and dirt. The laundry was disgusting and dirty. Driyers not working.

the room was dirty. there was sanitary pad wrap & trash on the counter when we first arrived. towels were stained. the bedsheets need to be bleached because they appeared dirty. overall, the room looked dated & dirty. pls remove this hotel from your SG Clean list because it’s not clean at all. even the hallways & elevator had trash on the floor. very frustrating & the construction noise was so bad that we had to leave earlier than planned.

Finding this property was a haste. The address listed was a law firm. Then the facility was located but there was more than one address. Eventually this road weary traveler found the bastion but without context to other Singapore accommodations it is hard to tell if these digs were adequate or average. The location near the quay, bay with its many activities and events with the accompanying crowds did make this a respite from the busyness.

Staff are really friendly and accommodating.
What was disappointing was that the photos and description does not match relaaity. Thus, this hotel was not worth the money you may for a room. Also the wifi wouldn’t work in the room and only in reception.
My advice spend an extra $20 and live it up in a luxury hotel in Singapore.

small rooms in an old hotel.

What I wish I knew was that the rooms are very small. I booked three rooms for six people, and I was hoping to get a rollaway bed for the third room for my two boys. However, this request was denied by the hotel manager because \"the room is too small to accommodate an extra bed\". I ended up having to pay for another room (4 rooms total), at $101 US dollars each, which is very pricey for a very small room in an small and older hotel. Even though the rooms were clean, I was given bath towels with holes in them, and they were very thin due to too many uses. Anther thing I was not ready for was the fact that the shower and toilet were crammed together in a very small area without any division between them, similar to a motor home situation. And, the breakfast buffet was in another sister hotel, a few minutes walk. The food was decent.

Avoid the small standard-sized room.

We knowingly booked the standard small room at a good rate. However, it was a mistake because the room was so small that the two of us were always in each other's way when not in bed. Concerning the queen sized bed, it was walled in on three sides. The only way to get in or out of it was to crawl in or out from the foot of the bed, not an easy task for older people. The tiny shower/toilet combo was difficult to manage. Water got all over everything and required a lot of wiping up. Recommendation, spend a few more bucks and go for a larger room!
On a brighter note, Anna, who was at the front desk, was wonderful! She was so helpful and such a delightful person. The breakfast was quite good.

Well located economy hotel

Needed a cheap and cheerful hotel for a brief stop in Singapore. Wanted somewhere close to the travel hubs and Boat Quay.
Hotel rooms are tiny but adequate for solo travellers with 1-2 days to kill who don't want, or need, a high end hotel.
Staff are polite, friendly and efficient.
Breakfast is an 'experience', basic fare in a sister hotel, a sort of Chinese 'caff' - plenty of Chinese restaurant leftovers available to supplement the cereal, fruit and toast if you feel you need to top up your MSG levels.

This hotel is right opposite Clark Quay MRT so that was very handy. The room is tiny, but there were a number of drawers for storage and room under the bed for luggage. The bathroom was tiny but clean and toiletries were supplied. The staff were very helpful with anything we asked about. The included breakfast is provided at their sister hotel around the corner and it is a buffet with some Asian food as well as European.

Budget hotel in great location

I didn't enjoy my stay in the hotel. The first room we stayed in was very very small and one quarter of the floor space was taken up by glass partition enclosure that was the shower/WC. After a few days the solar hot water system failed and we had no hot water for nearly 3 days. To their credit the staff moved us to a 'deluxe' room which had lukewarm water. I have to be honest and say it was not value for money. I have stayed at a better budget hotel nearby.

If you´re just looking for a bed in a convenient area, this hotel is excellent. Seems secure, and they accommodated our early arrival. The only downside is the really really tiny room and bathroom (you can shower and use the toilet at the same time, basically), but given it's Singapore, I think we can't fault them for that.

Had a quick stay in an interior room that was definitely compact with little extra space for 2 travelers. High points: great location, good price (cannot specify) and good staff. Low point was that the room had hairs from previous guest throughout the room, otherwise clean. Compact bathroom was tight, but OK. Lovely staff, looked after our bags after checkout and let us have a shower later in the evening before our onward flight.
Next to MRT if you want to explore and 2 mins walk to the Quays for bars and food. Perfect place to stay for a couple of nights to break the journey from France to NZ.

Don't waste your money on this one

This hotel is a rip-off. Priced as a good three star hotel, but rooms are on the level of a student hostel - small and cramped with minimal facilities, the hotel is on a busy street with a bus stop directly in front of your window. We had to keep the curtains closed all day. The staff did not pay attention to our request and was not helpful.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH - IT'S INSULTING

As someone who has run their own BnB for 17 years I would rate the Jayleen Hotel as a 1star \"hostel\" at best. I have stayed at many hotels in my life and am staying at a 4 star hotel in Penang at present and if Jayleen is 3 star then this hotel in Penang is off the rating scale, or at least a 10 star hotel. Being in need of a walking stick I was not impressed having to walk to a sister hotel for breakfast in the heavy rain, nor was I enthralled with curtains that did not keep out the lights from the void that went down from our level on the 4th floor to the 1st. Perhaps if we had been given the city view room with a desk in it instead of a room no larger than my bathroom at home it might have had better amenities - I doubt it though. Breakfast was cold when we arrived for it, the coffee machine did not work, most of the dishes had not been replenished and the fruit juice was 70% cordial - not impressed at all. However the two desk clerks that we encountered were pleasant enough. If you are going to run a hotel it would be better if you are realistic when writing it up, perhaps even use the photos of that particular hotel instead of another one in your listings or even better still try not to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Our flt was delayed by a day. We checked in at 1am. Our friend at another hotel, had no place to go til noon. Night manager was kind enough to give us our queen room with a cot without extra charge.
If you spend very little time in your room but want a place that is clean, affordable, and close to everything--the Jayleen is the place!
Downside--solar water heater! Not sure if it was because it was raining and cloudy the day before but we had no hot water early morning. Not a big deal later in the day because weather is so hot/humid. Early morning--Burrrrrr.....

The hotel location is perfect, right next to MRT station, Chinatown,shopping malls, bus station. Service is nice and friendly, especially Mr. Lee guided us to the train station and was nice with my daughter. Hotel is clean and had all things you needed.
Cons: breakfast is not great and poor choices, shower taked a little time for hot water.
This is a budget hotel in the big city that I rated 4+.

A tale of two experiences

This budget hotel is well situated.Though rooms seem rather small they are well furnished.Reception and cleaning staff are helpful and friendly.

Breakfast is taken in a sister hotel, in a room which looks very much in need of a makeover.
Layout is poor with hot food items sited immediately on entry and other requirements at the most distant point.Fruit and scrambled egg supplies were exhausted on three of the four mornings we breakfasted and were only replenished when guests made a request at the kitchen door.

OK for the price

On cannot expect anything more for a 3 star hotel, in particular the extra small room. The room phone was not working and the bed was uncomfortable. The dining area was in another building. The breakfast was not great.

No Hot Water for Bath

A small motel. The worst thing is POOR HOT WATER for bath especially in peak hours. No enough hot water provides to all bathrooms. No restaurant around this area. Public transport is OK and reception is nice. Will not stay again.

Convenient location

Front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. It is great you can request to use the shower room after check out (e.g. after a sweaty day out and having a midnight flight)

Breakfast is in another sister hotel (3 minute walk)

Room is smaller than North American standard, it is about the same size of an inside room on a cruise ship (with slightly larger bathroom)

MRT (subway) just across the street, very easy access

Close to downtown area and other attractions, very good location if you have a tight budget and don't want to stay in a hostel
