Don't worry about anything just book it. Perfect location close to the city centre but less touristy. Buses right outside the door. Quiet and peaceful. Amazing staff, everyone was kind, friendly and professional. Amazing quality rooms, very clean. I was already looking up flights and availability to come back here before my vacation ended!

This is an excellent hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The hotel is beautiful. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was quite good. It is in a very quiet area so sleeping was easy, but it is still close enough to all the attractions and rests to be walkable. We definitely plan to be back.

Everything about my stay was perfect. Huda, the dining room manager and her staff were so professional and kind. Everyone at the front desk was accommodating, kind, friendly, and welcoming. I think if they offered lunch and dinner I probably would have never left!
The room was perfect, the breakfast was delicious and perfect, and the staff, including the housekeepers were perfect. I would give ten stars if I could.

Staff were super lovely, we were greeted by a very enthusiastic and full of character Giovanni who made us feel welcome. The place is very well kept, breakfast had a surprisingly wider variety of food for a continental breakfast, and is in a nice quiet part of Florence that is still accessible to the city centre. There are also some roaming cats around that became joyful to spot throughout our stay - thoroughly recommend this hotel!

The Horto Convento Hotel is truly a hidden gem in the Borgo San Frediano neighborhood located in a residential extremely safe neighborhood just on the other side of the Arno. From the moment we checked in the staff couldn’t be nicer. Cherish the desk manager was always accommodating friendly and professional. Breakfast was typical continental fare and perfect to start the day. Our room was small but extremely clean and perfect for our stay. Make sure you have a drink at the lobby bar. Adam the bartender will certainly become your new favorite bartender. A true gentleman and just a great guy. Be sure to ask him about the neighborhood restaurants where the “locals” eat for a great experience. The hotel is a short walk to everything you want to see and you will definitely get in your steps. Well worth it if you don’t mind walking. It’s really a great way to relax and take in this amazing City. Hotel is also a short cab ride from any where in city so no issue there. Highly recommend this hotel

When we arrived the air conditioning was working after two days of being there the staff told us they turn off the air conditioning at this time of year. We were sweating at night so we opened the windows and woke up in the middle of the night with bugs biting us. We did not sleep at all. Otherwise the breakfast was good and the staff was nice

This hotel is a tucked away gem. In fact, it’s difficult to find at first. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the property is beautiful.the included breakfast was delicious, and Olga makes wonderful coffees and cappuccinos.
They serve cocktails and apertivo later in the day, and Adam at the bar makes delicious cocktails and is so fun and interesting!
It is a hike to get to be city center, but worth it. Also, there was quite a lot of noise at night (showers and toilets from the other rooms).
I would stay here again.

Great staff and location, however the room was basic and on the first night we were attacked by over 20 mosquitos so we barely slept. The next few nights were fine but the rooms aren’t very soundproof so we could hear a lot going on outside the doors… despite that though, we still had a lovely time and the helpful and nice staff truly made it, and it has some great traditional restaurants right on its doorstep. We particularly loved Volte!

We loved the location of this hotel for 5 days in Florence; out of the city centre and so quiet and calm. We felt like the area nearby was much more appealing than the crush of the city centre. The staff and breakfast were exceptional and loved waking up to the church bells nearby. Highly recommend this place. We found it very walkable.

Thank you for our great stay here! After walking all day and being surrounded by city noise, it was truly special to be able to relax in the courtyard, have the window open and just relax. The vibe at this hotel is very peaceful. It’s easy to walk to the main sites from this location. Perfect hotel if you want something away from the tourist mobs in a quiet, uncongested location. We stayed at Hotel Horto Convento for three nights, and I must say the building with its Florentine charm took our breath away as soon as we walked in! Beyond the beautiful and character-filled architecture, the rooms were very well refurbished and spotless. The location is also excellent , within a 20 minute walk to most places, with plenty of authentic local dining options just around the corner.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we even extended it for an extra night!
If you’re planning a trip to Florence, this is a wonderful option for your accommodation.

Our two night stay at Horto Convento was very nice, from the friendly, helpful staff, to the comfortable bed, to the delicious breakfast. The property is located away from a busy street, in a lovely setting next to a church. If I had to note any issue at all, it would be the very narrow bathroom in our unit. There was a towel heater rack installed behind the door, so it could not be opened all the way, making it even more narrow. Not a big deal, just a design flaw. Overall, a very nice stay!

This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The pictures online are completely misleading—the reality is nothing like what’s advertised. The hotel was extremely noisy, and we were unable to sleep the entire night. On top of that, the staff was rude and completely unhelpful when we raised our concerns.

We decided we didn’t want to stay, but the hotel refused to refund our money. Every negative review you’re reading is absolutely accurate—we wish we had taken them more seriously before booking.

I strongly do not recommend this hotel. Save yourself the stress and disappointment.

We had a nice experience at Hotel Horto Convento. The room was modern but with a rustic feel and with a well sized bathroom. The staff were very friendly and the property was beautiful and set inside its own private courtyard which had lovely wisteria growing. The only draw backs were that the sound proofing was minimal and while the property was quiet anyway, it was always a little too easy to hear everything around us including the coming and going of other guests and the tolling of the bells on the hour and half hour. Other hotels have also had minimal sound proofing though. The other thing we noticed was while there did appear to be a thermostat that no amount of changing the settings would turn on the air conditioning or even the fan. In Florence it’s always a risk to open the window lest the mosquitos find their way in which they always seem to. Luckily we only got bitten a couple times. Still had a lovely time and would return again.

This hotel is clean, quiet and the staff are lovely and helpful. We enjoyed staying in this neighbourhood because it is removed from the tourist crowds and full of local charm. However, it is at least a 20 minute walk to any of the tourist sights and there are few if any convenient public transit options. This might be a problem for people who are in Florence for a short time and want to maximize their sight-seeing or those with mobility challenges.

We stayed for two nights. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Giovani gave us a great welcome and notes on places to visit. The room was beautiful and the amenities plentiful. The view was great and the huge window was spectacular. The breakfast was so good with hot and cold options. The staff at breakfast was quick and efficient. No complaints whatsoever on service, room or location. Was a tad difficult to see from the road as there is no sign. But go through the big arched doorway and walk straight down the cobble road into the courtyard and the entrance to reception is on the left with a sign. Would definitely stay again.

We meet here for three days with a group of friends. Two of us had cars so the hotel parking was convenient. Cost was €25 per night to park.
The hotel was a wonderful calm oasis in the middle of a bustling city.
The staff were excellent. They provided great restaurant recommendations, made great coffee in the morning and cocktails at the other end of the day.
