Vendors were constantly roaming- roughly every 15 mins which made it hard to enjoy a good beach nap.

Entertainment was good throughout the day along with the evening shows.

I rarely leave reviews like this, but my experience at Hotel Riu Negril was extremely concerning.
I checked in April 9 and had to leave early on April 11 (scheduled stay was until April 13) due to unacceptable conditions affecting my health and safety.
I have asthma, and the room was very stuffy with cobwebs, dirty floors, and poor air quality. The AC was not cooling properly and felt warm, making the room hot and uncomfortable at night. I was sweating while sleeping and unable to rest properly.
Housekeeping was inconsistent and poor. After reporting issues, cleaning was delayed, and even basic cleanliness was not maintained properly.
The dining area was also unsafe. I saw bird droppings on chairs where guests sit and eat, and staff ignored it even after being informed. Another guest was about to sit in it before noticing.
On top of that, I was constantly bitten by sand flies, leaving multiple bites and making my stay very uncomfortable.
The noise level was also disruptive due to doors slamming from nearby rooms, which repeatedly woke me up at night.
I have requested a refund for the unused portion of my stay and have received no response so far.
I am sharing this so management understands this is a serious issue—not just inconvenience, but health, cleanliness, and safety concerns that need immediate attention.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The beach is definitely the highlight - beautiful, clean, and perfect for relaxing. However, areas around the trees need some maintenance, as there were rocks and small branches that should be cleared.

The property is a bit dated but very well kept. Service was inconsistent—some staff were friendly and engaging, while others seemed less attentive.

Adding benches around the property would be a great improvement, both for enjoying the beautiful sunsets and especially for guests with mobility issues.

The buffet was very good, but the specialty restaurants were disappointing and need improvement in both service and food quality.

Overall, a great location with strong potential, but some areas could use attention to enhance the experience.

The staff at Riu are fantastic! Even though they work so hard to make us feel happy, they still have the greatest smile on their faces, always joking and saying kind words. The Jerk chicken Hut or the beach was my favourite food. Always juicy, delicious and cooked to perfection. The beach is fantastic and the water just perfect. Our whole trip was amazing.

My husband and I had an excellent week at this resort. The employees were friendly and helpful. I especially note Beverly at the front desk and Shana in the dining hall. The food was good, although my husband did not enjoy his steak at the Steak House, and we considered the delicious lobster tail that I had a much better option. Many employees throughout the facility work hard to maintain the property. The beach is incredible and the main reason we come back to Negril.

First time staying at Riu. Everything started good. Than had to call multiple times a day to stack the fridge. Some staff are great some really not friendly at all. The beach was beautiful, clean and sunny. The food was average. Couldn't make a reservation at all so had eat at the buffet everyday. The entertainment was really good. I was really hoping for a better experience 😔

I was so pleased with Hotel Riu Palace. The room was nice and large with a balcony facing the ocean, The buffet was huge and had so many delicious choices. It also has 4 small restaurants (must reserve 2 days in advance) that were intimate with wonderful food. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The bars were numerous (loved the \"swim up\" bar!). They even had a free minibar in the rooms, which is pretty much unheard of.
My only complaint is there is no elevator. We were on the 3rd floor, so multiple trips up and down the stairs was not ideal. That is my ONLY complaint!

Very nice property but the housekeeping was just ok.
They completely skipped our room on a couple occasions even though we had the tag on handle to “makeup room”.
Housekeeping could’ve been a little more friendly.
They had an angry attitude about tidying up our room even though we are kind and outgoing. Even as you passed them walking out of your room they were pissed off.
Save your time withe the Krystal specialty restaurant. Food was terribly overcooked and the filet wasn’t a filet. Who knows what it was but it wasn’t a filet. Totally inedible!!
We stuck with the buffet which always had delicious, fresh food.
A special shout out to the entire front desk, lifeguard and bartending staff though who were extremely friendly and hospitable. Such a great group of people.
Made me and my family feel welcome and helped answer any questions we had. Overall I’d give the property a 4 out of 5 stars and we would go back.

I’ve stayed at a RIU in Montego Bay before, so I knew paying more usually means a nicer, more “luxury” experience. That wasn’t really the case here. Palace Tropical Bay didn’t feel like an upgrade, and honestly we could’ve just stayed at Riu Negril and been just as happy, if not happier. When we went there for the White Party, it looked just as nice.

The swim-up bar pool was also an issue—the filter seemed off because there was always debris floating around, which wasn’t great.

The “ocean view” is pretty limited—you can see the ocean, but it’s more of a partial view than a full one.

On the positive side, the entertainment staff did a great job keeping people engaged even with all the rain that week and food was pretty good.

The biggest frustration was that we could not check in our first night due to bad weather costing us our connecting flight, and even though Expedia contacted the hotel, they refused to refund or accommodate that night which was really disappointing.

Lovely resort right in the beach. Not too big and you can even go over to the other Riu resort down the beach and eat there too with your all-inclusive bracelet. The beach is AMAZING. Drinks are great, food is good overall. Highly recommend reserving a dinner at the Steak House- our favourite of the restaurants there. Staff were always helpful. Can’t wait to go back!

Great staff and very clean facilities. Staff restocked alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages each day. Food at the facilities was excellent. However, bed was extra hard and Do Not book transfers from airport to hotel with Destination Services. In particular, if you must book transfers with Destination Services, please ask flr someone other than Obrien. Met with him briefly at the hotel to schedule pick up time from hotel to airport. He gave me a pick time at 9:15am, however the driver arrived for pickup at 8:15am and stated they do not schedule pickup for 9:15am. I tried to contact Obrien twice to confirm the pickup time, but he never responded to my texts or phone calls. He also never provided me with a confirmation booking number. The driver that arrived to pick us up called our hotel room and threaten to leave us if we didn't hurry up and come downstairs. We had to scramble to finish getting dress. Very unprofessional behavior from Obrien and the driver.

We recently stayed at this resort, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. The resort was very clean, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This was actually our third time staying here, and we have always enjoyed the atmosphere and service.

However, we were very disappointed with the restaurant reservation system. According to the website, reservations open at 8:00 a.m. on the same day, but every time I tried to reserve right at 8:00 a.m., the system showed that everything was already fully booked. This happened several days in a row.

During our previous visits, the restaurants operated on a first-come, first-served basis, which worked much better for guests. The new reservation system does not seem to function as advertised, and it was frustrating not being able to secure a reservation despite trying exactly when reservations opened.

I hope the resort reviews this system or improves the process so guests can actually access the dining options that are advertised.

We were sent to Riu Negril for a night due to TB being overbooked (inconvenient!). At TB, we chose a garden view room and ended up with a view of the aging property next door. Damion in the buffet is amazing. A lot of little nuances, like the fire alarm activating a few times during our stay, toilets being clogged, and a cockroach in our room will keep us from returning. Not to mention the snafu with the overbooking. Not our jam. We'll try someplace else next time.

It was a great view at the Palace on our 2nd night when we actually got to stay there. After a long day of travel we arrived at the hotel to find out we got moved to the property next door which was cheaper, we paid for the Palace and our friends were at the Palace. They shouldn't be able to move us and not let us know in advance. They made us check out of our room at noon the next day, but we couldn't check into the Palace until 3. They should have been more accommodating to us and let us have a late check out.

I was in the hospital completely unexpectedly for 8 nights and missed our trip to Jamaica. Nobody at the resort or through Expedia would help us get a waiver or change our dates. I made many attempts and nobody was willing. We didnt want our money back, just wanted to change to a date we could go. So disappointing.

Not a 5-star hotel. It may have been one back in the day. But not now. At most, I'd give it 3 stars.
A beautiful beach and the ocean, yes, but that is not what the stars are given for.
Rude and ignorant staff, black mold in the rooms and bathrooms, clogged showers with barely a trickle of water, missing toilet accessories.
Average at best food, no decent alcohol whatsoever, even impossible to pay extra/purchase. Slightly better wine is only at the specialty restaurants, but nowhere else. Why?!
The hotel insists that everyone use the mobile app. And some genius decided that the maximum number of people per reservation or room is 2. So if you have kids with you or you occupy multiple rooms, you can't make a dinner reservation at a specialty restaurant. Or you must make separate dinner reservations from different mobile phones. But then, when you arrive, the staff tells you that they can only seat you at separate tables. What is the point of all of this?!
Poor WiFi at the entire property. Keeps disconnecting constantly. The only way to fix it is to turn the WiFi off and back on on the device. And even then, at times, it just won't work at all.
Beach chairs covered by bird poo. Old, washed-out beach towels.
The management has been neglecting to maintain the hotel for a while... My experience makes me NOT want to come back to Jamaica again.

We booked and paid for a room to accommodate four people, but were initially given a room suitable for only two, which was very uncomfortable. After speaking with staff, we were moved to a four-person room, but not until our third day. The restaurants were consistently fully booked; we were only able to reserve the steakhouse on our last day, and the food was very poor. Additionally, a hotel alarm went off every night at 4 a.m., repeatedly disturbing our sleep.

From the moment I arrived at the property, Beverly was determined to take excellent care of me. She embodies the true spirit of my island and reminded me what it means to experience genuine Jamaican love. The food was amazing, even my picky eater enjoyed every meal! This is my second time staying at this property, and it never fails. The staff are some of the most amazing people. Judith who is so very wonderful. She even remembered us from our trip two years ago. She provided the best drink service on the beach. Shanese who always made sure our room stayed clean, and boy did shane and Powell show us great service at the buffet. These people certainly deserve a raise, and to be praised. Thank them for me for all they do. I hope theybare there when we return. Best place ever!

The staff at this resort were AMAZING! Good was what you would expect, but had a huge variety. Our room did have a moisture/mold problem but we were rarely in the room so we made it work. Room service were cleaning your room everyday and sometimes even twice a day, so you always came back to a clean room. Definitely recommend having enough cash on hand, as there’s no ATM on property. Remember to support the locals on the beach and purchase souvenirs from them!

Returned for the second time and unfortunately it’s not the same. Strict restaurant restrictions. Only got to visit one restaurant during our week stay. Also some of the staff members were rude. I asked for a paper napkin and he told me he didn’t have any. I asked him if he can take it from the empty table next to me and he said the napkin was accounted for. Also asked for a bottle of water for the baby and he said he didn’t have any. I would have to get it during room service.

We had a wonderful stay. The property is on a perfect part of bloody bay. Can't beat the sunsets and the bay is very calm. The property is clean however the lack of elevators caused a lot of problems for me and my partner. Please put in elevators. Also the 24 hour lounge is just blah. The food is mediocre at best. Always old and dried out food. Wish we had a sports bar like on the sister resort. I also wish there were better options for room service menu. The food is so limited. Why not provide burgers and fries and some pasta dishes. Warm dishes for your guest who are feeling unwell or exhausted from climbing 3 flights of stairs in a very humid environment. I think adding a club option would help to provide more options for those who want more luxury. Aside from that we had a great time. And if we see some improvements we will be back in a heartbeat.

This property was very well taken care of. The rooms were cleaned every day. The staff was wonderful from the house keeping to the security, they were all very friendly and courteous. The beach was exceptionally beautiful. We enjoyed it everyday. The food was great with a great variety. Never boring. We ate mostly at the buffet.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt like a dream. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel like family. Our room was spotless, stylish, and had a breathtaking view of the garden —waking up to that every morning was pure magic.
The food? Absolutely delicious. Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and served with care. We especially loved the local dishes and tropical cocktails by the pool.
Whether we were lounging on the beach, enjoying live music, or just soaking in the sunset, every moment was unforgettable. This hotel made our Jamaican getaway truly special, and we can't wait to come back

Nice hotel friendly people. Krystal at the lobby bar the best..allison mike geovane at the beach bar the best....and deboy the lifeguard 👍👍.the resort need more entertainment but is nice
