Had to walk up 37 steps to the room. Hotel has no elevator. Room was tiny and I had to lower my head to enter the bathroom. Almost no taxis in that area.

It did have a good breakfast.

Restaurant,room cleanliness, Service was friendly. The only Problem was the noise, Television in neighbouring room so loud it was like in your room. Even with earplugs it was difficult to sleep. There
was a notice saying not to use Television loudly at night. Unfortunately not observed.

Right overlooking the lake which is fabulous. We upgraded to lake view and I’d higjly recommend that.
Hotel is over a restaurant.
Hotel is upstairs and a little old & in need of a renovation BUT the lake view and lake surroundings were all you notice.

We stayed 1 night & we’d definitely stay again

Very reasonably priced.

There was a portable air con Unit in the room for which we were very grateful as it was 29’/30’

Not the best experience we've had

The wifi didn't work in the room, the second floor room we had was really low and you could here every sound that came from outside or from an another room. So not the best experience but very cheap and nice location by the lake. Also the pizza in the restaurant was great!

Great location. Wonderful staff.

The pillows were a bit uncomfortable but otherwise the staff and location were wonderful. One or two minor maintenance issues in the bathroom needed but the room was brilliant otherwise. Great for families.

Hotel has a fine location near the lake; views are very nice (and better if you have a balcony space too). Always good parking and a very good restaurant with a vast menu available (almost too many too choose from - and always with very large portions!)

Great family run hotel in a stunning location.

This is a great little hotel situated right on the shores of Lake Lugano with comfortable rooms and a fantastic pizzeria on site with wonderful food at very good prices, The rooms are comfortable if not luxurious but have everything you could want - book a lake view - you get a balcony with a panorama of the lake you will never forgot.

Just a few problems

Hotel and service were generally fine. Just two problems: 1) highway/street runs between the hotel and street (ruins the otherwise gorgeous view ... and can be fairly noisy during the day); 2) Internet did not work properly. Service was great and, overall, made up for these problems.

The rooms are OK, but the walls are fairly thin and there is quite a bit of noise from the other rooms and the hallway. The worst part is there were insects in our room, such as fly, ant, and mosquito... In addition, we can not open our windows because there are 4 big garbage cans sit under the window. Wi-Fi connection was poor. Overall, we got bad experience.

Too far from Lugano to be used as a night halt.

There's an airport en route Lugano, which causes traffic pileup and makes the drive to this place a 1 hr affair. Not advised for a night acco for Lugano.

Hotel is fine. No issues with the hotel. Has a nice italian restaurant attached and on the picturesque lugano lake.

Noisy rooms

Looked ok on outside, but bit isolated, however not in a nice peaceful setting kind of way. Friendly staff and got an upgrade which we thought was nice. However we could hear alot going on next door. To the point we could hear CLEARLY our neighbours peeing etc. The walls all round must have been very thin. No footpaths for walking either by the nice lake which is not the hotels fault however.

A good choice for the price

It really was a great stay for 1 night. Price was really good compared to the Swiss side of the lake- the reason we stayed here. Just a little noisy at night- could hear the restaurant down below a little but other than that it was good. Breakfast was quite adequate and we had not issues. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Stayed overnight with my husband & 2 children in a family room .Sofabed was large & comfortable. Room was very clean & a problem with the tv was resolved immediately by the friendly receptionist. The hotels position was lovely, right opposite the lake with pretty views. The restaurant was extremely busy & is obviously popular with visitors & locals alike. The menu is extensive & food very good. The service was slow but after two weeks in Italy we were used to a slower pace of life!

Great for a night in Lugano

This hotel is very small, with few amenities, but it was perfect for what we were looking for. The restaurant has white-jacket service, very nice. Great Italian food, courtyard seating looking out over the lake. Our room was quiet and for the most part, comfortable. The shower, however, was ridiculously small. While sitting on the toilet, our faces were an inch from the shower wall. Check-in and check-out was perfectly executed. All staff, in the hotel and the restaurant and bar, was well trained, efficient and cordial. We got a good rate, and thought the value was excellent. I would have been terribly disappointed with a room facing the back, however. Get a "terrace lake view" room. Each room has shuttered doors that open out onto a common area with tables and chairs and beautiful flowers.

I can see Switzerland from here!

We were greeted warmly by the staff upon arrival. The hotel is just on the Italian side of the Italy/Switzerland border and a 15 minute drive to Lugano Airport. We chose the Hotel Grotto Bagat for its proximity to the airport as we were flying out of Lugano the following morning. The room was superb and had it not been raining fiercely during our stay, the view we had across the lake and into Switzerland was superb. Breakfast on the morning of our departure was excellent. The staff was instrumental in saving us from missing our flight by warning us that traffic at the border crossing into Switzerland would be heavy in the morning. The advice was spot on and most appreciated. Hotel Grotto Bagat was an excellent value.

Most enjoyable....

stay, staff friendly and accomodating. The Hotel and rooms kept clean daily. Good breakfast every morning with more than enough choice. Resturant was reasonable and of a good standard making it a popular place to eat. This did mean that at night the noises from the resturant could be heard in the room and at times the neighbouring rooms TV could be heard.

Avevo prenotato in questa struttura soprattutto invogliata dalle foto, ma purtroppo appena arrivata, per motivi personali,ho dovuto disdire e alla reception, pur non avendo usufruito di nessun servizio e nemmeno messo piede in camera, mi hanno costretto a pagare la prima notte completa....(84 EURO) potevano almeno farmi pagare metà o anche meno non la notte completa dato che la camera non l'ho nemmeno vista....lo sconsiglio e sconsiglio vivamente di prenotare.... sicuramente non alloggerò MAI...

Ich hatte nur ein Einzelzimmer und kann nur dieses Zimmer beurteilen. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis war sehr gut. Es gibt aber noch Verbesserungenspotential: Thermostatvenile an den Heizkörpern, Lichtschalter und Steckdosen am Bett, Entlüftung im Bad/WC. Das wäre mit weng Aufwand machbar.
Der Empfang war sehr freundlich.

Abbiamo scelto l'Hotel Grotto Bagat per una piccola vacanza sul lago di Lugano e abbiamo fatto centro.
Posizione buona,ampio parcheggio,camere comode con terrazzo vista lago,personale gentile.
Pulizia generale e colazione completa con cappuccino del bar ci hanno soddisfatto ma la vera forza e' il ristorante pizzeria con piatti di qualita' e abbondanti,dalla pizza al pesce tanta scelta e tutto buono.

Per fortuna abbiamo soggiornato solo una notte in questo hotel.. Trovate le formiche in camera e in bagno. La porta al balcone non si chiudeva. Ho prenotato una camera ,,vista montagna, ma non c'era nessuna vista in quanto la finestra aveva un vetro che non si vedeva proprio nulla.

Wir waren anfans Januar da und es war sehr kalt draussen. Das Zimmer war aber immer sehr warm und gut geheizt. Ebenfalls war das Bett seeeehr bequem. Die Matratze war super! Wir haben immer gut geschlafen. Die Zimmer sind extrem ringhörig. Wir haben jedes einzelne Wort vom Zimmer nebenan gehört, aber das hat uns nicht gestört. Wir waren jeweils nicht lange im Zimmer, da wir oft unterwegs waren und am Abend haben alle geschlafen, da konnten wir immer gut einschlafen trotz des ringhörig seins. Das Frühstück ist wie bereits von den anderen Feedbacks vernommen, nicht das Beste. Es hat eine sehr kleine Auswahl von allem und was heutzutage ein völliges No Go ist: es hat keine laktosenfreie Milch! Mit all den Allergien heutzutage und Italien als sehr angepasstes Land ist dieses Hotel total hinterher.. Schade. Auch kam niemand an den Tisch und fragte, ob wir einen Kaffee wollen! Man muss selber das Personal anfragen gehen. Beim ersten Frühstück wussten wir das nicht und konnten nicht einmal einen Kaffee trinken.. finde ich gar nicht gut. Und zumal das Personal gar nicht immer im Restaurant ist.. das Ein- und Auschecken lief gut und schnell. Am Abend ab 22.30h ist niemand mehr vor Of
Ort, man kommt aber mit einem Code jederzeit rein. Das hat auch gut geklappt. Für zwei Übernachtungen war es ganz okay. :)

Nicht wirklich überzeugend

Unzutreffenden Angaben bei Hotels.com: Wir hatten weder Seeblick, noch eine Regendusche, noch ein Pillowtopbett und vor allem keinen Safe im Zimmer. Es gab auch keinen an der Rezeption, das freundliche Personal bot an, während der Dienstzeit (bis 23 Uhr) auf die Wertsachen aufzupassen...
Wir hatten das Dreibettzimmer mit Balkon, wobei die Dachterrasse von allen Bewohnern des ersten Stockes betreten werden kann. Neu, auf den Fotos noch nicht zu sehen, ist, dass der seitliche Balkon überdacht ist. Das ist zwar gut bei Hitze oder Regen, macht das Zimmer aber dunkel. Auch die Möbel sind dunkel.
Das dritte Bett war nur ein ausgezogener Sessel und für den 16 Jahre alten Sohn unbrauchbar (zu schmal und zu weich). Das breite Doppelbett war dagegen nach unserem Geschmack zu hart.
Das Bad war sehr klein. Große Menschen können sich dort nicht auf die Toilette setzen, weil sie hinter Bidet und Duschkabine eingeklemmt ist. Die Duschtür war nicht dicht, so dass immer Wasser am Boden war. Die Reinigung nach der ersten Übernachtung hat uns nicht überzeugt, Handtücher wurden nicht gewechselt und die Duschkabine nicht richtig geputzt. Ansonsten war es sauber.
Das Hotel war abseits gelegen. Trotz der Hauptstraße war es nicht laut. Der Müll des Restaurants wurde aber hinter der Dachterrasse entsorgt, auch der Glasmüll, was laut war. Im Zimmer hörte man keine Nachbarn sprechen, aber Geplätscher aus dem Bad. Das WLAN war sehr schlecht.

Schöne Lage, enttäuschendes Hotel

Wir waren für 2 Nächte in Lavena Ponte Tresa und direkt bei Ankunft überwältigt von der wunderschönen Umgebung. Von der Restaurant-Terrasse des Hotels aus hat man einen superschönen Blick auf den Luganer See. Die Rezeptionistin wirkte sehr bemüht, sprach allerdings nur sehr eingeschränkt Englisch und konnte uns viele Fragen nicht beantworten. Wir waren direkt unter dem Dach untergebracht. Das WLAN funktionierte nicht, da konnte uns die Dame von der Rezeption auch nicht weiterhelfen. Über dem kleinen Balkon des Zimmers bauten Wespen gerade ein Nest. Schien so, als wären an dieser Stelle schon häufiger Wespennester entfernt worden. Die Hitze im Zimmer war kaum zu ertragen, die Ausstattung etwas in die Jahre gekommen und teilweise kaputt (Steckdosenabdeckungen, Duschbrause, Klorollenhalter). Die Betten waren sehr sehr weich. Das Frühstück war sehr sehr simpel gestaltet und insgesamt enttäuschend. Keine frischen Lebensmittel, alles sehr provisorisch mit Plastikfolie abgedeckt auf dem Barthresen, Service Fehlanzeige. Die Pizza im Restaurant allerdings war recht gut und preiswert. Nun zu den negativsten Punkten unseres Aufenthalts: Die Klimaanlage war sehr behelfsmäßig mit einem großen Schlauch aus dem Fenster hinausgeleitet worden und nahezu unwirksam, nachts konnten wir bei der Hitze kaum schlafen. Neben uns war der Koch untergebracht, aus dessen Zimmer es furchtbar miefte. Nachts stellte er seine stinkenden Kochschuhe vor sein Fenster, der Geruch kam per Klimaanlage zu uns.

E' la seconda volta che soggiorniamo al Grotto Bagat a distanza di pochi mesi: il servizio è sempre eccellente, le camere pulite, spaziose e confortevoli. Abbiamo cenato nel loro ristorante, cucina ottima e di qualità. La colazione, come sempre abbondante e varia. Posizione strategica x raggiungere in poco meno di mezz'ora Monte Tamaro....ci ritorneremo sicuramente

Schöne preisgünstige, geräumige und saubere Zimmer. WLan hat leider nicht funktioniert. Frühstück war kein Hammer aber ok. Sehr freundliches Personal, das teilweise auch englisch und deutsch spricht. Morgen stört etwas der Strassenverkehr.

Hervorragender Service im Restaurant
Beim Frühstücksbuffet gab es leider Kaffee aus der Thermoskanne mit viel Kaffeesatz und abgestandenem Kaffee
Teilweise kein ansprechbares Personal zur Verfügung - hier wäre ein "Servieren" von frischem Kaffee an den Tisch sehr zu empfehlen

Komfortables sauberes Hotel

Empfang sehr freundlich und kompetent. Das Zimmer sehr gross,sauber und gut beheizt.Internetzugang schnell.
Man kann unten im Restaurant essen sehr fein, Frühstück grosszügig.Gratisparkplätze vor dem Hotel und gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.Das einzige am Morgen bereits um 09.00 Uhr schon kein warmes Wasser mehr zum Duschen.Grosse Terasse mit Seeaussicht.
Würde es weiterempfehlen.

Ottima posizione, strategica x raggiungere in poco tempo i mercatini di Lugano. Camera confortevole, pulita, spaziosa, climatizzata con vista mozzafiato sul lago. Personale dell'albergo e del ristorante cordiale e disponibile ad ogni richiesta. Pizza ottima, abbondante e super farcita....ci ritorneremo sicuramente

Kleines Hotel mit Restaurant in Seenähe

Die Zimmer sind großzügig geschnitten und sauber. Das Personal ist freundlich. Das Frühstück war ausreichend und ansprechend.

Leider ist die Klimaanlage sehr laut und die seitlichen Balkonen liegen über den Mülltonnen, die vor allem Abends wegen des Restaurants oft benutzt werden.

Chambres correctes mais sans plus (sanitaires vieillissants, douches mal fixées, radiateur qui fuit).
On a pu trouver bien mieux pour moins cher ensuite, plus loin près des grands lacs également

Perfektes Hotel für einen Zwischenstopp

Wir waren für eine Nacht dort und hatten ein Familienzimmer. Dieses war ausreichend groß für eine 4-köpfige Familie (Etagenbett für 2 Kinder in einem Durchgangszimmer zum Bad). Gemütliche Betten, alles sehr sauber, Multimedia-Angebot auf dem Zimmer.
Das angeschlossene Restaurant bietet sehr leckeres Essen, auch das Frühstück war gut. Jedoch kann es im Hotel recht laut sein durch das Restaurant.

We zijn direct na het inchecken weer vertrokken. De dame aan de balie was meer geinteresseerd in haar mobiele telefoon dan in ons als gasten. We kregen een kamer op de tweede verdieping, terwijl ik aangaf een probleem te hebben met. Dat kon niet anders want de lift was 'kaput'. Die lift was er overigens helemaal niet. Wel konden we plots een kamer op de eerste etage krijgen, nadat we aangaven dan maar een nacht te blijven. Vervolgens ging de dame aan er balie weer telefoneren en liet ons aan ons lot over. Daarna hebben we onze koffer opgehaald en zijn vertrokken. Volgens de dame 'Imposseble' maar voor pons realiteit. Nooit weer Grotto Bagat !

Esperienza NEGATIVA

Al mio arrivo mi è stata assegnata una camera del tutto diversa da quella che avevo prenotato. Era in mansarda, piccola, senza frigo, senza aria condizionata, bagno piccolissimo senza una finestra e inoltre, dovevo stare attento, altrimenti battevo la testa alle travi del soffitto per quanto erano basse. Al mio netto rifiuto di occupare tale camera, dapprima mi è stato detto che se volevo, potevo anche andar via senza spese a mio carico, cosa, che ovviamente non ho accettato. Quindi mi hanno proposto di alloggiare solo per una notte in un'altra camera, in quanto l'hotel era pieno. Al mio rifiuto mi hanno trovato un'altra sistemazione in un albergo nelle vicinanze sempre alla stessa cifra ed eventualmente la differenza l'avrebbero coperta loro. Comunque, un esperienza da dimenticare, e per me che viaggio spesso, non ho mai avuto problematiche quando prenotavo con altri partner, ma questa volta con VENERE non è stato così.

Com o quarto certo vale a pena.

O hotel fica na beira do Lago Lugano, porem do lado de dentro da estrada e nao tem acesso direto ao lago na frente do hotel nem existe um calcadao ou algo similar pra andar pelo lago. Fica em cima de um restaurante com o mesmo nome. E afastado da cidade portanto o restaurante pode ser boa saida na volta de um dia longo sem precisar sair pra procurar onde jantar. Quartos grandes, mas nos deram um quarto no 2o andar que nao tinha conexao de internet (a antena fica no terreo) o que foi muito ruim pois a TV so pega uns 4 canais em italiano. Pedi pra nos trocarem de quarto e nos colocaram no 1o andar onde tudo funcionava. Bom café da manha, porem no 1o dia chegamos tarde (9:30) e nao foi feita a reposicao dos itens do café. Nos outros dias viemos cedo e tudo estava OK. Atendimento muito prestativo do staff. Alguns quartos dos fundos tem um forte cheiro de comida vindo da cozinha do restaurante a noite. Melhor pedir um quarto no 1o andar de frente pro lago, mesmo que seja um pouco mais caro.

Tolles Hotel am luganer see

Das Hotel eignet sich hervorragend zu einer zwischenübernachtung, z.b. Auf der Fahrt von Deutschland nach Italien in den Urlaub. Dafür haben wir es spontan gebucht, wofür wir sehr dankbar sind.

Pernottamento: "solo di passaggio", una notte.

Ho trascorso una notte, solo di passaggio da/verso la Svizzera.
Il personale è estremamente cordiale, gentile e dispobinibile.
Vi sono diverse camere con vista su lago e non, tutte le camere sono ampie. Riguardo alla mia, il giudizio è "migliorabile", piccoli dettagli che fanno la differenza: mancanza di appendini nel bagno per asciugamani/accapatoi; acqua calda disponibile la mattina solo dalle 7:30 (prima non c'era)!?

albergo con pub-pizzeria-ristorante al piano terra

le formalità alla reception sono state rapide ma, nonostante io non abbia l'uso di un braccio e sia zoppicante (postumi di incidente) e NON ci sia l'ascensore (scusabile, c'è solo un piano di scale) il personale non ha nemmeno proposto di trasportare la valigia, peraltro più ingombrante che pesante.
la stanza non era riscaldata e, nonostante un pallido solicello, piuttosto freddina
bello il terrazzo e la vista
alle prime luci inizia il traffico di auto e moto, non troppo pesante ma comunque rumoroso
il ristorante è decisamente un punto di forza, si mangia bene però ha una contabilità separata dall'hotel e non è certo romantico
