Staff was very friendly and always helpful. However, the villas only have Air Conditioning in the bedrooms. The rest of the villa is basically outside with only shutter type doors and walls letting the hot outside air blow through day and night. Also sound goes in and out as well. There is little privacy. Only one TV in the main room which means ALL OF YOUR NEIGHBORS will hear your TV too. I tried watching TV at 10 pm but neighbors called the management to complain about me! I had to slide the couch to within 5 feet of the TV so I could hear it and not disturb anyone outside my villa. Very frustrating! Then there's the ants. Everywhere. If you set down anything food related, ants will be in it within minutes. I had to store all food in the refrigerator to keep ants away. I will not stay here again.

The resort was beautiful & located in a great spot on the island. Villa was clean & equipped with everything we needed.
*Kitchen had plates, utensils, cooking supplies & even tupperware.
*Dishwasher was helpful to throw everything in at the end of the day & wake up to clean dishes.
*Bedrooms are wonderfully air-conditioned and comfortable!
*No issues w/ noisy neighbors & plenty of parking. *Description said '1 bathroom,' but the villa had 2 full bathrooms
*Fresh towels provided daily, or you could indicate using your towels more than 1 day.
*Pools were great! We spent most of our time at the beaches. Papagayo's beach was a little confusing to figure out b/c each beach section is right next to the other. Cabanas are $69/pp according to 1 person. Someone else said they paid $100 for a cabana...? The beach chairs are free and worked fine for us.
*Papagayo's section is a little farther from the restaurants which was ok. It was quieter and away from the DJ and crowds by the other restaurants.
*Pool towels can be exchanged at the reception or @ the towel hut at the beach.
*Grocery store nearby helped with buying essentials and snacks.
*We drank the water straight from the sink & had no issues.
*No restaurant on the resort property but plenty w/in walking distance by the beach.
*Wraparound porch was lovely to relax on each night
*Warning, there are def bugs both flying & crawling around the villa. It did not bother us but just a heads up.

Property was nice, close to beach, cleaning staff and maintenance crew were great- kind , friendly and helpful. Since we had an ocean view villa we were close to the beach area and the music on Friday and Saturday late night kept us awake. Wish the rooms were sound proof.

I would never recommend this property. It did not look anything like the photos that were shown. There was no central AC and very hot if you weren’t in the bedrooms. The floors, walls, and doors were dirty. The pool looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The ocean view is a very limited ocean view that can only been seen from one small section of the porch. If you do plan on staying here just know all of the pictures are from the VIP suites and you will not be staying in one anything close to that if you don’t pay for the VIP suite.

Great Stay

The stay at the Papagayo villas is a comfort away from home. The villas are quiet and peaceful and have everything you could need during your stay. The salt water infinity pool at the hotel was also a great feature. Really love that you can share all of the hotel amenities.

Outdoor was nice. Gated property, manicured well. Inside was old dated and poorly furnished. Supplies were low and had request for soap and shampoo daily. Beach towels needed to exchange daily. Access to the beach was good. Restaurants and shopping was good. Easy access and parking by car. Just to wish the inside was furnished to meet a four star upscale residence. It was to 2-star at best.

The location in Jan Thiel was great. We could walk across the street to the beach or Beach Club, as well as multiple restaurants.

The villa itself was underwhelming. It seemed old and a little dirty, the doors didn’t work well so one of the bathroom doors kept slamming in the wind - I had to put a towel under it to keep it from slamming and waking me up.

It was really nice to open the doors to see the ocean view but there was no AC in the living spaces which made it a little uncomfortable at times. It would’ve been nice to have the option of turning it on at some point.

Overall, it was ok. Good location, villa wasn’t great. Won’t go back.

The resort is beautiful, and the villas are great. A little too big for just a couple, but it had a well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Special thanks to Kimberly, who made our check-in early, fun and smooth. Our only complaint was that re-fills of coffee were with additional charge (You'd think that a resort this price would re-fill coffee for free).

This is my favorite resort and my go to place to stay when visiting my family. The staff go above & beyond to make sure that your stay is as perfect as possible. My favorite part? The birds & lizards! Put a big bowl of water out and just watch what happens. The Specialty Restaurant is closed for renovations but the restaurants at the beach are equally as good. Already booked my 2022 villa!!

This is my second time staying in the villas at Papagayo. As always, it was an excellent stay. It is wonderful to have the privacy afforded by the villas, as well as being able to make your own food in the full kitchen. The one thing I would say could be improved was the mattresses on the beds felt like they could probably be replaced, they were not the most comfortable. But other than that it was, as always, a great experience.

If you're looking for a place to relax where you can hang out on a private patio and enjoy the island breezes, this is great!

Just OK, and service/staff was awful.

We had come to Papagayo Resort one day for the beach and found it to be quite nice, so when I booked my second trip with girlfriends, we decided on a two bedroom villa at the resort. Unfortunately, I so wish we would have gone back to the place we stayed previously as the service, amenities and staff were not up to snuff.

I would be giving them an even lower review, but the manager did eventually contact me during the stay and apologize and refund our resort fees.

The resort pool and restaurant was under construction, but they still wanted to charge us an extra $360 for 2 people staying at the 2 bedroom villa. I kept asking - what does that additional charge include? $30/pp per day is a steep fee when all your amenities are actually under construction and not usable. One morning at 8AM a huge truck backed up into the yard and dumped sand for over 20 minutes, so loud it woke up everyone in the villa.

When we arrived in the villa it was definitely more run-down than the pictures show, paint was chipping, the floor boards were scuffed. All the plugs were European - we called down to the front desk as the welcome packet did state that they had converters available for use - they were SO RUDE, they said, no, sorry they didn't have any and it's 8PM so we couldn't find any anywhere. We ended up walking down to the Hotel to borrow some after three screaming matches with the rude concierge. Everyone just seems angry/annoyed that they're working there and not polite at all.

Really liked the overall beach experience, the supermarket nearby, the fantastic fitness centre, the fun design of the villa with sliding doors and the security.

Was so not impressed with the Mothers Day brunch. Did not like the mosquitoes either.

The property has a nice Infiniti beach close by to the hotel and always large availability of The papagoya beach resort with the villas is extremely outdated. The room walls are dirty, the sheets had stains, and there were always numerous amounts of tiny ants in the kitchen.

Open living room concept is terrible. Birds fly in when any of the doors are open, ants all over the places, no AC in the living good and terribly uncomfortable furniture makes it impossible to spend any time there. The porch is reall nice and the showers were great.

Important for non-European / non-Dutch visitors: Contrary to the rest of Curacao: there are only \"Dutch\" electricity plugs available in the villas, and no adapters at the reception area. So if you want to be able to use your electronic devises and charge your phone, you have to bring your own adapters.

The property is across the street from the beach, we had an ocean view room and barely saw any ocean, mostly just cars driving by. Living room area has no air conditioning and shutters instead of windows in living room and bathrooms. Only air conditioning is in the bedrooms. Lots of mosquitos, flies, ants and bugs all over. We were bitten up big time, even though we used bug spray and tried to keep all windows/doors closed. The beds are very hard. Cleaning lady came in one morning while we were sleeping, opened the door and proceeded to clean with my kids in the living room watching TV, this was very odd. When my husband asked her to come back later, she disregarded and continued to clean. Beach chairs that belong to this hotel are only by the Infifinity pool. The others you have to pay for. I did not enjoy the accommodations.

The resort is very different from the hotel. The property is big, near the beach, and has almost everything you need. The resort was simply appointed. It was not comfortable though as there is no AC in the living room and the mattress and pillow were both hard. The towels, both bath and beach, were very used and should be replaced. Housekeeping was stingy with the towels too. Reception was nice but slow, on island time. While the bungalows are nice for groups I would try a different place on my next visit.

Just returned from a week in a villa at Papagayo Beach Resort and can’t wait to go back. Our villa was very comfortable (it has a huge veranda to enjoy those island breezes) and the two-bedroom, two-bathroom and kitchen setup suited us me and my husband, and my senior-aged parents) perfectly.
The cleaning staff are great, coming every day and mopping the floors every other day. The resort staff were helpful and friendly. Papagayo is close to a well-stocked Dutch supermarket, very handy for groceries, and the the resort is a short walk from the beach. There is also a sushi place (Kyoto) we enjoyed, beside the supermarket!

Location was perfect, and very convenient. Nice pool area and toddler pool. We enjoyed the beach and infinity pool there as well (the related hotel area).
Staff was ok, but the service of the beach bar could definitely improve. The independent restaurant on the property (Roast gastrobar) is worth a visit; nice menu and service. In summary a very nice and convenient stay and I hope to return there when visiting curacao again.

ocean view is a tourist scam, aircon insufficient

We had a villa that was supposed to be \"ocean view\",(133) which was not!!! it was all behind other villas and could see only through the trees (see pictures) ... we could see that there bunch of others offered as \"ocean view\" that were supposed to be over a hill... all obstructed !! The stuff was rude, did understand well either English or Spanish, and just decided to ignore our requests. I wanted an ocean view for a romantic weekend, so I paid double the price of the garden view. The air condition was insufficient for any of the two rooms, and the rest of the areas simply don't have any, so no romantic weekend also because all was a single sauna.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Papagayo Beach Resort. Staff was very friendly. Villa was a 3 bedroom 2 bath, really opened space and comfortable rooms. Villa we stayed in had a very spacious kitchen and grocery store down the road which was convenient for us since we cooked breakfast every morning. The restaurants were fairly priced depending on the type of restaurant and entry you select. Beach at the resort was spectacular. One of the best cleanest beaches i've ever been too. Overall experience was excellent. I will definitely be back with a bigger group as i recommend this resort.

Awesome beach surprise!

My boyfriend and I traveled to Papagayo Beach Resort and stayed in the villas. I would highly recommend them! They are spacious, comfortable, and inviting. The verandas and plantation shutters give the villas a truly tropical feel. Upon arrival you receive a cute beach bag and the villa is stocked with the most delicious espresso pods. However, after the initial four, you need to buy them. There is a fully stocked (dishes, utencils, pots/pans) kitchen that we cooked in regularly. Onsite is a grocery store, several great restaurants, an infinity pool, spa, and several shops. Not all of these are connected with Papagayo so you can't charge everything to your room, but Mastercard, USD, and NAF can be easily used. It wasn't too crowded, but I think we caught them on a slow week. Overall, this is a great resort!

This was a wonderful resort. We stayed with our three kids in a two bedroom garden view villa- bedrooms were air conditioned and the living room completely opened up to a wrap around porch. There was a pool and a wading pool on the property and the beach was across the road with another pool and a sea water infinity pool as well as a small beach- beach loungers were free for resort guests. Staff was helpful and friendly. Only small problem were mosquitoes- because of the open concept living room we did get mosquito bites but it was worth it and they have mosquito nets for the beds if you ask. Full kitchen was great and there is a small grocery store a 7 min walk away and a free shuttle to a larger grocery store. Villa was very quiet at night. Tons of birds and iguanas for the kids to discover.

The property itself is beautiful with lush flowers and very tranquil. Inside of the villa, there is no air conditioner in the main room. AC is only in he bedrooms. If you want to watch television, you’ll have to watch it in the main room with no AC. Also, no one came to clean our room on the day before our last day and that was very disturbing. When we asked to have it cleaned, the staff mentioned that they were short of staff.

Had an amazing holiday, loved staying in the spacious bungalow.Very clean with Great service.Loved the large swimming pool down on the beach.The smaller pool was also Nice, but service was very slow in the specialty restaurant/ bar if you wanted to order drinks. i also thought IT was a bit shabby around the pool area, there was often plates with leftover food , left on the table around the pool area that no one bothered to come and tidy up.but I would certainly recommend this place and will be back again sometime soon.

The staff was incredibly friendly & accommodating.

We had an amazing stay. There were 17 of us staying in various villas and rooms. The facilities are beautiful and offer something for everyone. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They surprised me a bottle of wine and balloons on my birthday. The location is convenient to the beach, the market and not far from Willemstead. In hindsight, we were happy we chose to stay at Papagayo and would do so again in a heartbeat.

What a gorgeous villa!

Really loved this Resort. Having a kitchenette was important to me due to dietary restrictions and this place was amazing. Great villa, good pool, free chairs at the beach, shops near by. I liked that it was away from downtown and away from it all. Rented a car from Just Drive Curacao and getting around was easy.

Garden villa across the street from private beach

Beautiful garden villa across the street from one of the best beaches on the island. There are lots of amenities at the resort, i.e. restaurants, bars, grocery store, gelato shop, boutiques, free Wi-Fi, etc. Nightlife at the bars on weekends especially at Zanibar on Saturday nights. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi in the rooms wasn't the greatest; it was nearly impossible to contact. We had better luck on the private beach. The afternoon/evening staff at the gate was very friendly. Having a kitchenette came is very handy when we wanted to stay in for the evening. Loved the indoor/outdoor living room with the cool island breeze.

We have stayed at this resort before. It has been renewed and is now part of a larger resort/hotel/restaurant complex. The original resort of two bedroom villas is much the same except that the bath rooms have been redone and the furniture and decor changed to a more modern look. The restaurant, while having a different chef, is still excellent. Unfortunately the 'gardens' have just had a major pruning and were looking somewhat bare.

We had a great time for our holidays. We have a 1,5 year old, who dictated most of the holiday with sleeping and eating. And this was a great location to follow that
When opening the doors, the sitting area and outside deck became one spacious area. This gave a great holiday feeling, when spending time around the cabin.
The location of the park was also very convenient. There was a supermarket very close by, as well as the beach. All within good walking distance.
Overall excellent experience and very comfortable stay.

This is maybe a maximum three star hotel. The villa is comfortable, but there are some very disappointing points. There are no screens at the doors and windows and all the wild life that is outside is also inside. The most disturbing were the ants. There are ants everywhere in the house, including in the bed. When we inquired about the situation, the way to deal with them was swiping them around. Also found a cockroach that was roaming through our clothes and last but not least there was a scorpion in one of the bedrooms. Mosquitoes will attack you everywhere since there are no screens and windows and doors are like shutters only. So if you like wildlife inside the house then this is a good pick. There was also a big whole in the floor in the bedroom and nobody seemed to think that this is a problem.The amenities of the hotel are ok. The restaurant is very nice, with good quality food.

Really Terriffic

We were two couples traveling together and had a really great time at Papagayo. I read all of the reviews and really think that some travelers were just overly picky and complained entirely too much about very small things. I am so glad that I did not let that deter me from choosing Papagayo. We had an amazing tine. And when we didn't and things needed to be fixed the staff were more than accommodating to our needs. The front desk staff and the manager of that team are excellent. The housekeeping staff and the executive in charge of that group were wonderful. I mean, really, there's nothing to complain about, and a lot to be happy about at Papagayo. We would absolutely return!!!

Overpriced, smelly

[...] We were there during the rainy season, and whenever it rained the grounds smelled like sewage. The front doors to the villas can only be locked/unlocked from inside or out with a key, which is a safety issue. We asked for a second key, and it took three days to get one. Outlets were all round (european style perhaps?), so bring adapters. We had breakfast once at the restaurant, it was just okay. Dinner was also okay, but the service was terrible. I had to ask 2-3 times and wait 15 minutes whenever I wanted my water refilled. All menus were in dutch. Our waitor at breakfast made sure to do a quick translation for us when she handed us the menu. Our dinner waitor acted put out when we asked a few questions. The internet access was really spotty, and would be unavailable for hours at a time. This resort was a disappointment. The villas were nice for traveling as a family, and the grounds were beautiful, but that doesn't make up for poor service.

Spacious and relaxing!

The check-in was timely, but the staff was friendly. Wi-Fi is available in the reception area or sitting area in front outdoor lobby. The pool is great with a bar and restaurant. The pool is open until 9pm, but beware that the people at the restaurant are overlooking the pool so it is not very private!
We were robbed at another location on the island, but it seemed safe at the resort. We were told to lock up our back verandah doors even while we were at the pool so there may be issues there as well. There are only A/C in bedrooms, the living space and bathroom did remain humid and hot. Fan did provide some breeze as well as verandah doors open fully. The room was great for three adult travelers, rooms are clean. The grocery service upon arrival was priceless! We received massages at our villa, make sure to enjoy one on the verandah.

Perfect for families..........

The villas were absolutely great for travelers with kids. It was especially nice to be able to open up the walls onto an expansive deck. The gardens throughout the property were breathtaking. We really loved going to beaches other than the one nearby the property (wall to wall people and a bit too busy for us). Tip: Get to Portomarie for a beautiful setting and up to Playa Kalki for great snorkeling. We also loved having our own kitchen to avoid eating out all the time. Rent a car! Jan Thiel is a drive from Willemstad and the airport and if you want to get to better beaches you will need transportation! Bring bugspray! Mosquitos can really nab you especially if your villa is not far up the hill. We were but still got bitten quite a bit...particularly our daughter.

Uma acomodação mais Airbnb do que hotelaria. Villas agradáveis mas esperava mais. Serviço muito difícil, check in confuso com mais de 1:30 de espera. Colchão e toalhas padrão econômico. Precisa atravessar a rua para acessar o beach club que é aberto ao público e hóspedes não tem nenhum privilégio ou prioridade. Não existe acesso a praia exclusivo. Pela nossa categoria de membro tínhamos alguns direitos que tivemos que “implorar” para receber. Serviço fraco. Escolheria outras opções em uma volta.

Acomodação confortável e funcional para famílias, são 2 quartos com sala e cozinha completa. Fiquei durante 1 semana com minha esposa, 2 filhos pequenos e minha mãe e o espaço nos atendeu super bem. Além disso, a limpeza ocorreu todos os dias e a equipe foi bastante atenciosa. O uso do beach club também foi bem tranquilo. Superou as expectativas.

Fijn verblijf gehad op Papagayo Curaçao. Alles dichtbij. Prettige restaurants in de buurt. Lekker strandje.
Enige minpunt was dat de manager was vergeten de afgesproken en betaalde taxirit naar het vliegveld voor de terugreis te regelen. Hierdoor bijna onze terugvlucht gemist. Er werd een smoesje opgehangen dat er veel verkeer was, maar van de taxichauffeur die uiteindelijk kwam, begrepen we dat ie 5 minuten daarvoor gebeld was.

Beste resort in de omgeving van Jan Thiel. Uitstekende service, op loopafstand van het strand, en de huisjes zijn voorzien van luxe keuken, badkamer en grote veranda. Enige punt ter verbetering zijn de (harde) matrassen van de bedden en de WIFI verbinding.

The staff was fantastic, specially the girls that work in the check in and the villa was spacious and comfortable.
The only downside was the fact that there wasn’t air conditioning in the living room and the villa with ocean view wasn’t that close to the beach(around 10 minutes walking)
The location is fantastic , because there is a supermarket in the papagayo complex and there are fancy beach clubs around , including Papagayo beach Club

Uitstekend verblijf in ruime villa

We hebben een uitstekend verblijf gehad in de ruime villa. De villa heeft een open ontwerp met grote vouwdeuren die zorgen voor een verbinding met de buitenomgeving. We hebben heerlijk genoten op de ruime veranda. Het strand van Jan Thiel is op loopafstand, waar we gratis gebruik konden maken van de strandbedjes bij de Papagayo Beach club. Helaas liet de beschikbaarheid van schonen strandhanddoeken te wensen over: ze waren vaak en de handdoeken waren oud.

Prachtig verblijf op Papagayo Beach Resort. Een rustig park met mooie beach houses. Netjes en comfortabel. In januari kom ik terug. Tja en een compliment voor het personeel. Superservice. Vooral de vrolijke portier. Of je nu lopend of met de auto komt. Hij doet altijd de slagboom omhoog :))

Cozinha dentro da habitação individual completa. Chegamos 12h e ficamos no beach club. Nos prometeram a unidade pronta as 16h, conforme contratado e pago. Não estava pronta no horário. Não há troca de roupa de cama, somente de toalhas. A limpeza do quarto é feita muito tarde, quando estávamos voltando da praia. Necessitam de mais funcionários.

Huisjes zijn super. Mooie keuken met Combi-oven en vaatwasser. Lekkere douche. De bestelde extra dingen zoals taart en champagne ook prima geregeld. Alleen de communicatie met de beachclub en de wellness kan echt beter.

Mooi en luxe resort

Mooi resort met grote en luxe villa’s. Bij aankomst moest ik nog betalen terwijl ik al betaald had - daar had ik zelf ook beter op moeten letten. Dit werd overigens netjes rechtgezet nadat ik het aangaf.
