I was one of the folks stranded during the military action in Venezuela. Because of this I had to add extra days at the resort and did so through Expedia. When I went to check in after my original stay had ended the resort would not accept the fee I paid to Expedia and said there was an error with my booking and forced me to pay them directly as well, in essence paying double the published rate. I was very upset and told “take it or leave it”. If you book through Expedia don’t be shocked if they try to charge you more upon checkin.

I have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts throughout the Caribbean, across different countries and budgets, from very affordable to luxurious. Without any doubt, this has been the worst of them all, even compared to basic resorts. The infrastructure is clearly neglected, with no major renovations in years, only superficial fixes that do not hide the deterioration. The resort feels old and uninviting. The food is the biggest disappointment: the buffet offers almost the same food every day with no real variety, themed restaurants are very few with extremely limited menus, and items often run out without being replenished. There are long periods with nothing to eat, and after 10:00 p.m. food is practically unavailable. Desserts are particularly bad, essentially the same cake in different colors. There is no online reservation system; you must sign up in person and sometimes wait up to two hours just to eat something very limited. Much of the restaurant staff is unfriendly, while the entertainment staff is excellent and truly committed. The beach looks nice but the sand is mostly rock. The island is excellent for snorkeling thanks to its crystal-clear turquoise water, but truly paradisiacal beaches are elsewhere. The lagoon-style beach is pleasant but artificial, ending at a wall and surrounded by old infrastructure. I chose this hotel due to the limited all-inclusive options on the island and will definitely not return.

The infrastructure is clearly neglected. No major renovation or deep restoration has been done in years—only superficial fixes like painting doors or walls, which do not hide the overall deterioration. The resort feels old, worn out, and uninviting.

The food and dining experience are the biggest disappointment. The buffet offers almost the same food every day, with no real variety. The themed restaurants are very few and have extremely limited menus, often with items already unavailable. There are also long periods when there is nothing to eat, and after 10:00 p.m. food is practically impossible to find. When food runs out, it is not replenished. Desserts are particularly bad—essentially the same cake in different colors.

The restaurant system is terrible: there is no online reservation system. You must sign up in person and sometimes wait up to two hours, listening for your room number to be called, just to eat something very limited. The attitude of much of the restaurant staff is unfriendly and sometimes uncomfortable, with only a few positive exceptions. The only consistently positive aspect of the hotel is the entertainment staff, who are energetic, friendly, and committed.

The resort’s beach was a great place to lounge around. The staff was overall friendly and helpful. The dining choices were decent with above average food. We did wish there were food/snack options available between the regular dining hours of operation. The rooms were satisfactory, although we did not have hot water for the first three days before it was addressed. Our children wished there was a dedicated pool that was available for use with extended hours as all the pools were closed off starting at 6 PM. I give the resort a solid 4 stars only because of some of the shortcomings I had mentioned.

The rooms that we got smelled moldy and the AC wasn't very cold, the rooms on the other side seemed to be more updated and better. The pool was good, and the beach front is excellent. The entertainment staff was the nicest staff around and really made our stay worth it, Candyman, Crazy G, Pencil, Breezy and Mr Ellie were incredible.

The closest thing to a digital catfish that I’ve ever experienced. The photos posted online do not match the accommodations. The property is old and does not carry the weight of the years well. The worst part was a tie between a dysfunctional staff that did not communicate with each other and gave my family often wrong or misleading information (a sign says an amenity would open at 11, by 11:30 no staff member was there or it would open at 11:45 one day and 12 the next with no explanation, or they would routinely run out of food and not seem to care about their impact on guests) and a terrible kitchen. No seasoning to the food at all. Straight from frozen package to your plate. I’ll never stay at another Hyatt property. The experience and the staff were that bad.

No help with suitcases to rooms, got offered a $200 coupon the day I was checking out (found out I was suppose to be given this the day I checked in and I never got it), called room service 16 times Christmas Eve night along with the front desk, and the Sun Club members desk and the operator and no one answered. Christmas Day room service still wasn’t answering but I got on to the Sun Club members desk (phew) they told me 35-45 mins for my order (nachos, chick sandwitch and beef burger) the order took 1.5 hours and closer to two hours member services desk is telling me that they can’t get in to room service…..the joke is when my sandwich arrived half way in I realized that 1/4 of my chicken was raw! Big Steups.

Outdated resort with no areas to hang out at the bar. Beach was huge which was nice but overall the resort lacked what we were looking for. Food was subpar even for an all inclusive. Room had a nice balcony (sun club junior honeymoon suite) but was missing half of a shower door.

Please beware of fraudulent practices and false advertisement!!!! I want to provide a summary of my experience so no one else deals with this.
I booked a stay for 2 nights and 3 days. I decided to upgrade and book the SunClub which is their “VIP” members only program and includes “upgraded amenities”. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SUN CLUB. It is not as advertised. The only promised upgrade was the separate check in and checkout. The pool on sunclub is small, no one at the bar to serve, no special sunclub bar as promised and the beach on that side is extremely rocky and crowded as they are clearly overselling falsities. The beach at the rest of the hotel us not as rocky, the mainpool is huge and has multiple bars way better than the upgrade.
Second , I was placed in a room in a different section of the hotel that was not located at the sunclub building. When I complained multiple times each employee LIED indicting that it was an upgrade. However based on my research the room they placed me in was smaller and cost less than the one I paid for. Not only that but the air conditioning DID NOT WORK. I went down to inform them of this and they indicated they would send someone and had to wait an hour to have someone tell me they can’t fix it. They were unable to move my room at the time so I requested a fan to get me through. Using a fan to sleep in an all inclusive upgraded room is CRAZY. Aside from this there were bugs and little geicos in the room, the bathroom sink drain did not

Disappointed. The room we were given did not look like the room we purchased and paid a little extra for. We expected a more spacious room with a king bed. Our room was a basic hotel room that needed renovations. The only good thing was that we were 1st floor and our patio stepped right onto the beach. Perfect since my husband ended up on crutches days before our trip.

Food was average at best and the same options every day. Most food was overcooked. However, 4 days after arrival we found the Oceana. Food was made to order fresh and not overcooked. Limited options but so much better.

The staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful.

The onsite spa was amazing.

Entertainment was good. Appreciated the local crafter being onsite one day.

The best part was the location on the island and the beach. The water was absolutely stunning and picturesque. Pictures do not do it justice.

Our stay at Sunscape was a good experience. We usually go to Sandals but did this vacation with some friends. I think Sandals does things better but for the difference in price, Sunscape did a great job.

We did the upgrade to the sun club which we felt was worth it as it had a pool and bar just for sun club members along with a private section of the beach. The beach is wonderful!! Loved having the break wall so there was calm water to swim. The staff was great and very friendly (shoutout to Nathalie for being such a great server). The food was good, although somewhat limited in the number of restaurants (one was closed for renovation). Scuba Diving was fantastic and the dive staff was helpful and very pleasant. (Luis was great to work with and VERY patient).

Only negative was our AC unit didn't cool very well but was workable. I understand there will always be issues so it wasn't a big one.

All in all, I would recommend Sunscape as a good value and would return again.

We traveled in a big group. 3 of the couples, my self included were celebrating anniversaries and our oldest son was coming along for the festivities. At check in we get our room assigned and key. We get to the room and it is super HOT! My hubby immediately went down stairs to complain. They told him they knew about the problem and it should be fixed by 4pm-6pm. Our son's room was also very hot and he said im not staying in that room. He went to the front desk they told him the same thing. At 6pm they both go back up to the front desk, they tell them 9 pm. Finally at 9 pm my husband at this point was mad and demanded to change rooms. They moved us with the condition that we move back to our assigned room the next day and they let us keep the keys to the hot room. My husband said no and refused and gave them the keys. He told them that we were not moving. That is not how we wanted o spend our 1st day, specially after traveling all day. However they refused to move my son. Our son refused to stay in that room because it was so hot. He ended up sleeping in our room. Keep in mind that we were celebrating our anniversary and he wanted to have his own privacy. Which he did not get. The resort has alot of good things. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The events at night were great. Something diffrent every night. The pools were nice and kept cleaned the only problem is they closed the pools at 6pm. The housekeeper was amazing. The island is beautiful. Overall we had fun.

This was my second stay at this property. The staff is great! Property itself is very clean. This is an older resort, the rooms need to be completely updated. Food is good. The beach is amazing, pools are nice and clean. The location is a 10 minute taxi ride to downtown Willamstad.

I did not have the experience I'd expected because I did not receive the room I'd booked nor the upgrade I was offered and paid additional for. My room was NOT as described, no king nor double queen beds, no beach access from the ground floor, and barely an ocean view as it was covered by the fence and bushes (usually referred to as \"garden view\"). As soon as we got to the room, I'd gone back to the \"Sun Club\" to advise we had been given the wrong room. For 4 hours, the staff and management pretended to be correcting the problem only to later tell me the property was fully booked and I would not be given the room I'd booked and paid for. I'd tried to make the best of my trip however, some of the staff wasnt friendly, the restaurant staff was rude with the exception of a few people, the food was mediocre, and none of this helped the initial problem. I was so disappointed.

The absolute best thing about the resort was location. The beach and water were the prettiest I have ever seen. The property met our needs with good specialty restaurants, friendly staff and plenty of loungers for all. The only recommendation I have would be to focus on the world buffet cafe. Better selections, keeping things filled, and some days the staff was not organized with getting silverware and coffee. This would not keep me from returning, we had a fabulous time and I recommend.

The only thing we enjoyed was the beach.
The service was very unfriendly, particularly the front desk and unhelpful. We requested a king bed and got 2 queens. The room had no towel rails, loose electrical sockets, mold in the shower and although we got an ocean view room, we couldn’t enjoy it because there was no net curtains on the windows, so if you opened the blackout curtain, everyone across from us could see right in! We had ceiling tiles fall down in the bathroom and a flood of water in the closet. After constantly pressing the font desk we finally had to pay more to get an ocean view room, but it also had a leak running down the wall.
There were very little choices in the nicer restaurants and it was hit or miss with the quality of the food. I had some beef that was like leather and every dish got the same vegetables, which were basically raw. The Italian restaurant was definitely not Italian food, other than serving spaghetti. There were not enough servers in the restaurants, so the service was slow and bad and in most cases unfriendly, with hour waits outside to get a table. You had to reserve online for the Japanese restaurant at 1pm sharp, or 5 minutes later it would be fully booked because they only had 3 teppenyaki tables. The bar staff were also unfriendly and didn’t know the correct ingredients for most cocktails, or even have those ingredients. At the beach or pool, which was dirty, they would only allow one towel per person.

The staff greeted us warmly, and it was nice to see balloons and cake for the birthday celebration. However, the room had outdated furniture, which was a bit disappointing. One of the restaurants was under renovation, and unfortunately, we were not informed about this at the time of booking. When it came to the food, it was served at room temperature, and the steaks didn’t seem to be of high quality. The buffet offered very limited variety, and on September 16, 2025, there were no serving plates available at 9:00 AM. The entertainment had two enjoyable nights, but the rest were merely average. Very disappointed for the price that was paid. Would like to see some type of compensation due to limited restaurants. The sheets were stained.

This was my first time traveling to Curacao, and the Sunscape was awesome. All of the dining options were great except the buffet. The nightclub was closed while we were there which was a bummer. More active night activities would make the resort better. The location was amazing, but the hotel could use some upgrades. We had no hot water in our room the whole trip. Complained to the front desk for 3 days straight, and nothing was done. Other than that. The stay was great.

While the beach is one of the best on the island and the grounds are beautiful, all the rest, particularly the rooms, need a total gut job! To say it is outdated is an understatement. The infrastructure is broken beyond repair, Air conditioning, working faucets, sliding glass doors that jam, chipped paint, shower curtains that fall off, toilets that don't flush, musty smells, and dark rooms were all in need of complete overhauls. The Italian restaurant was great and the Hibachi restaurant was good. The two others had very limited selections and the buffet was the worst we have experienced on any island. The hotel definitely needs more staff. Long waits for restaurants and drinks was unacceptable. Finally, when the island lost power, this hotel did not have working generators like others surrounding it, and we had no power for 16 hours. While this hotel is considered budget friendly, be careful about choosing affordable. It wasn't worth it!

Pros: staff are sweet as can be! Couldn’t ask for nicer staff. The beach is stunning and great for snorkeling. Also very good coffee at the cafe!

Cons: the building/rooms are outdated. Not a huge deal to me but it’s hard for the AC to keep up with the rooms due to older units. It was on 60 the whole time but felt more like 75ish. However We did ask for a fan and they brought it immediately. The food is also very average. Hibachi was probably the best one.

For an all inclusive it is not a bad price however we would do a different resort next time and probably just pay a bit more.

The place is way understaffed and alot of things would be open one day then closed the next, including the swim up bar. The main bar had one bartender which is crazy. The buffet place for lunch was the worst ive ever seen in 45 plus years of traveling. They would run out of everything all the time and the food was.meh at best. The staff was GREATand made up for tge shortcomings. Oh and the a.c. and hot water in the rooms suck badly. The island itself is nice, just dont expect fine sand beaches.

This resort is in extreme need of updates. There’s is nothing to do but swim, only 2 pools, one is a child’s pool. Only 2 bars, the one in the lobby is rarely open. The staff at the buffet are rude. There was a woman bartender that I wish I had her name, she worked in the lobby bar Friday, she was outstanding. The food at the buffet was horrible. The water in Curacao was breath taking. I chose this resort because the comments were good, very misleading.

Front desk people very nice. Food servers very nice. I feel bad for them because the cooks are so slow. It took an hour and a half to get our food and when we got it, it was raw. (Fried fish) we watched and if a table complained they would find their ticket and cook their food. Two tables came and ordered after us and we watched as they complained they found their ticket and cooked their food. At the buffet, you have to ask someone to cook your pasta and heat up the sauce. When I did that the cook literally rolled her eyes at me. I waited about 10 minutes to get ice cream and then I finally walked away. Not even sure what they were doing.
There is air conditioning but it doesn’t really work. We put it down as much as we could ( 66 degrees) and it just never got cold. The first room we were in had a light outside the balcony that was hanging from the ceiling from an electrical cord and it faced the glass door. Our room did not have a blackout curtain so the first night it looked like the sun was coming up all night. We did get a room change and it had blackout curtains and a normal light outside. But the AC was the same.

The BEACH IS BEAUTIFUL!! If they would get some training for the cooks on how to expidite I think a lot more people would be satisfied. The place needs a little TLC. It could be amazing if they put some work into it. And again the severs and front desk people very nice. We checked in at the sun club room. AC was great in there.

Great overall, laundry service is terrible

Overall, the stay was good. The room had a couple small cosmetic issues, but nothing that really matters. It's almost impossible to get anyone to answer the Sun Club phone extension. Consierge will answer regularly, but if you're a Sun Club member, they refer you to Sun Club again. My only serious conplaint was about laundry service. There is a $100 USD deposit on laundry service and the balance is credited to you once the service is done. After I paid the deposit, the service wasn't picked up for over 24 hrs and the Sub Club phone calls went unanswered. I had to take my laundry to the Sun Club for them to take to laundry. ANOTHER 24 hours later, I had to go back to the Sun Club desks because the calls went unanswered again. Housekeeping wasn't answering for them, so I was told to wait longer. \"Nothing more can be done\". Laundry was returned after 10pm. My laundry credit wasn't mentioned at checkout, I had to ask about it. They took my email address and I was supposed to receive an email to issue my balance. Still waiting on the email 8 days later.

The facility is great, the staff is great, the food is all pretty good. Definitely enroll for the Sun Club and definitely go to the spa. Stay away from laundry service.

Also, we made reservation for a romantic dinner to celebrate our 43rd anniversary, supposed to be at 6:30 pm by the beach to look at the sunset, etc. and when we got there we found out that they forgot about it..... there was nobody there so we wanted to cancel right there and then by they told us that they were going to put us at another location and everything was going ok until it was almost 9 pm when the dinner arrive and when we ask the person taking care of us that why did it take so long she just apologized and said that the restaurant didn't know about our dinner - of course we didn't even eat.. we were not hungry anymore and that was it, my husband was so angry and ask to talk to management and wanted the money back ....after a few visits to the concierge going back and forth they were telling us not to worry, that we will get our money back, but we still don't have the money yet.

This is a very nice property with great facilities. With some improved management it would be fantastic. Why have a smoking policy if you're not going to enforce it. People smoke wherever they want and throw their butts everywhere - very sad and pathetic. The lunch buffet is awful, they clearly don't know how to present a good buffet. Food is not prepared - a delicious pizza will show up and when its gone, no more pizza. Lines waiting for burgers. The beach bar/restaurant is closed with no announcement. They have a great set up for the beach party - put a portable bar out there and you'll have more participation. Take the cell phones away from employees, they all stand around on them and basically ignore you until they are done doing what they feel is more important. Bar tenders are hit or miss, some are really grumpy. A very, very nice stay - just not great. But it could be!

It was better two years again when we stayed there. The Coffee Shop machine was broken, water pipe broken, and no power. Dining options are limited, elevator was broken at one point in the high rise building. We had a ground floor room and the sliding glass door didn't lock. Alcohol is bottom shelf and the red wine is not good. Sunscape is not 4 stars it is a 2 star at best. The beach and pool are both nice, and the staff tries their best. The property has potential and was just bought by Hyatt which will be the 4th owner, and I hope they invest. It was a good stay but just lower your expatiations and enjoy it for what it is. It is not a Secrets or Sandals you get what you pay for.

Was very unhappy with my room it was supposed to be the honeymoon suite in the sun club I seen in pictures the room could have been updated with decor but it smelled like mildew and did have mold in bathroom and under air conditioner. Door to balcony was broken could not get it to lock I asked for a different room wasn’t much better. cleaning service and restocking of bar was not happening. Food was nothing to special was looking forward for some Caribbean food went to special dinner at a sun club only restaurant they put yellow mustard as salad dressing the best place To eat was the buffet the staff was nice very over worked it seemed most people don’t tip. I tip so I can understand why they aren’t to happy to service people. The beach and the water was beautiful I just wish they would update the rooms and get more staff

We waited a long time after the proposed check in time to get our room that was reserved months in advance and paid for in full.
We finally got a room that still smelled of fresh paint and had lingering fumes in the heat.
And the next day a pipe burst and flooded the hall between the bathroom and front door in the middle of the night forcing us to move to an inferior room( not what we paid for). My suitcase was directly below it thankfully not ruining the dress I laid out.(just getting it wet)
We were attending a wedding at the Sunscape and before the end of the ceremony we were unable to use our now new room because the key card didn’t work and there was a note to see the front desk.
We were informed that they finally had another ocean view room available but at this point we were too inconvenienced to move again.
Overall experience wasn’t pleasant but we did enjoy the location of the resort.

They ran out of simple things daily. Supposed to be all inclusive they had one white wine and one red no variety whatsoever very cheap and you could buy a better wine, but that’s not what was told to us in the beginning.didnt even have Chardonnay !!!
Seamed like food all came from one kitchen and you never knew when the restaurant was open or not. It was pretty but not as advertised, especially the all inclusive part. We were very disappointed !!,

My only reason to provide 4 out of 5 stars is the visitors who smoke in non-smoking areas and that is very annoying for me who can't stand the smell of cigarettes. I hope the staff can do a better job at preventing this from happening in the future. Despite that, everything else was great at the resort. Good food, nice beach, great pool and good entertainment at night!

Property is exquisitely located on the beach. Rooms clean bed comfortable. Amenities were nice. Property needs some updating. Staff were very genuinely friendly, helpful. This was our first time in Curaca. Thank you to staff who decorated our room for my fiancés birthday. Overall very memorable and pleasant experience

The resort's beach is beautiful. The breeze is constant and relaxing. The facilities are dated, rooms need upgrading. There were only 3 restaurants operating.The 4th restaurant was closed for renovation. Compared to other all inclusives, the variety of food at the buffet was very limited and disappointing.
The room's fully stocked mini bar in the fridge contained 2 bottles of water and 2 cans of soda.
The resort's saving grace is the staff. All were helpful, and very friendly.

Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Food (both in the buffet and restaurant) is not terrible, but just okay. We made reservations for the Japanese restaurant on site, but we were scheduled for a Tuesday, which they are NOT open for... not sure how they could make that mistake. They have tasty tropical drinks (alcoholic) that change daily. While we were mostly there for the beach and pool, there are daily activities/entertainment (we played music trivia at the swim up pool bar - which wasn’t consistently staffed, I should add). The resort is in need of updating - which I heard they plan to do. Overall it was okay/good experience. I’d give 3.5 if I could.

Probably the worst resort I’ve ever stayed in.
My wife and I we were there to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and we left the hotel after the first night.
The entire place in broken, no good food and service was just ok. Extremely disappointed with the experience we’ve had.
I requested a refund which I was told I would get however the hotel is not allowing it. Guess I would have to hire a lawyer.

Property is a bit run down and needs more maintenance. Lots of ants in the room. We were Sun Club members but that didn’t really give much perks, if anything it’s more of a hassle and not a perk. Because you’re placed in the 8th building to the extreme end of the property while all of the main attractions, restaurants, etc are in the main building so it’s quite a walk and a bit lonely and scary at nights. If you want a drink after 6pm or if you’re hungry, WALK from end to end of the property and then up flights of stairs because there’s no elevator. Limited options of restaurants and they only have a few open per night so the lines were super long, always 12-15 rooms infront of you so it takes atleast an hour to get seated. Room service and front desk NEVER answers the phone so imagine walking from one end of the property to the other end just to order some food. And the AC in our room was not working properly, it’s worse than a fan. 2nd day very early in the morning we asked for a fan for the 2nd night and they said it will be sent to the room. We asked about 4 different times that day for the fan and they never sent it. Ended up spending the entire vacation without the fan ever being sent and no one even bothered to inform us why. On top of that, “sunclub special extension” doesn’t even answer the phone!!! The pool closes at 6pm which is ridiculous especially since the sun sets after 7pm so I really don’t know what special “perks” you get being a sunclub member.

Resort desperate need of remodeling. Felt like a rundown hotel, motel, holiday inn. But the WORST thing was when we arrived we checked in they gave us the royal treatment. Sent us to our rooms. We got to our room it was 95°, floors were wet with sweat. No AC and no power to room. I should’ve known something was up when guest were walking past me towards guest services looking very unhappy.

Anyway. The building had lost power due to unforeseen circumstances outside of their control. My issue it had been out since 5 am that morning and we arrived at 4pm in the afternoon! They NEVER said a word at check in. Several angry guest were up at guest services, and we were requesting to be put in another building. There were no available rooms. Finally the manager showed up and assessed the situation. There was no ETA for when service would be restored. Eventually were we’re allowed to cancel for a full refund. I haven’t seen the refund yet, but will continue to track it down.

We were left to find another place on our own at the last minute. Thank God we were able to find something. It was a much nicer place and better location! All in all everything worked out.

Resort was beautiful and they had events every night which was great BUT the food was meh, drinks were weak, lost electricity for an entire day and found a cockroach in our room. They did nothing to accommodate us for the loss of power and the icky bug we found in our bathroom. Overall not terrible.
