The ladies at reception were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The room was nice and very clean but the bed wasn't that comfortable. The breakfast there was good but the waiting staff not so efficient and could be a bit friendlier.

Location was excellent! Walking distance to a lot of restaurants,shops and beach bars . The location is on a main one way street right at the turn of the street, we stayed in the apartment above the street view. If you don't mind noise then it's a great place. There is a lot of events in that area so parking can be a bit of a challenge. The la Reina cafe in directly under that apartment,and they turn on the music at 730 am and you can hear it through the floor. Lots of deliveries with beeping trucks and the trash cans are directly in front so that's very load as well. The restaurant is delicious and beautiful. The staff is excellent.

The room wasnt worth the price. No space to relax (apart from our bed and the restaurant) and we couldnt enjoy the pool because of the constructions and the fact that it was not being taken care of. The double bed was actually two single beds put together with a small cover matress. The wifi was working 20% of the time. They were at least kind enough to offer 20% off our stay, but we had to ask for a compensation because of the construction that lasted 3 days.

The hotel is super cute. Decor is fabulous, great rooms, clean, and you can't beat the location. My only complaint is with the staff. Unfortunately we found a majority of the employees very unfriendly. It seemed like they just didn't want to be there and anything you asked them seemed like it was a hassle. That would be be the only room for improvement.

We had a wonderful stay at Bijblauw. The sea view was beautiful and the decor was lovely. The building has lots of character to it. The staff were lovely and really helpful when we had issues and sorted them very quickly. Lotte was particularly great. They made our stay extra special for our honeymoon. The restaurant food was delicious. We had breakfast daily and ate lunch and dinner once there. The sunset whilst eating was beautiful. It was a great location to walk to local food and drink places. The parking was busy as it doesn't have a private car park, however we always found a space. I would recommend a car to really enjoy and explore the island. Thank you again.

My husband and I were impressed with everything about our stay at BijBlauw. We have never encountered such friendly, caring, helpful, service-oriented staff anywhere else in our travels.

The waterfront restaurant is simply stunning. Waking up to breakfast on the sea was the absolute best! Followed closely by ending the day with a cocktail while watching the sun set.

I have some food allergies, but that was never a problem during any of our meals. Staff were always happy to let the chef know about my dietary restrictions. Once they were aware, they always remembered what I could or couldn't eat. I found that to be very reassuring.

We stayed in room #6 on the second floor. Just beware, there are no elevators here, but there are rooms on the main floor. While the hotel itself was extremely warm, our room was a nice, cool refuge from the heat. It was also very quiet, which allowed for a restful night's sleep.

The location was great, too! Even though we had a car, we could easily walk to so many other neat places in Pietermaai, Punda, and Otrabanda.

This place is about as lovely as can be! Our stay in Curacao was delightful, thanks in large part to the kind staff and gracious hospitality at BijBlauw. We hope to return someday!

The REAL review

MUST READ: it's hard to get an accurate description with reviews, but here is as close as you'll get. This is a small older hotel made into a boutique property. Overall, I would rate this a seven out of 10. The hotel rooms and lobby are historical building. That's been well painted and maintained, but realize it is an older building.
If you have any problem with stairs, do not stay here. The stairs to the second floor are almost like a ladder, and unhealthy people or cokes that have trouble with stairs could get hurt on this.
Don't be fooled by the pictures of the pool. In fact, the pool is a small container tucked in the back area outside where it is not a very pleasant sitting and can be characterized as a plunge pool. There's really two seats to sit in, both of them tucked up against the building where you would not want to sit. So essentially no pool.
The entire property exists around the restaurant which is in back facing the beautiful ocean setting. This is indeed Crown jewel the property because you can eat here, and sit and enjoy the scenery. Whether it's early morning, coffee or late night dinner or drinks, this is spectacular.
However! The property maintains this as a restaurant and if you don't want to eat, it is awkward to go sit amongst well, dressed dinner growers, and enjoy the scenery in your swim trucks and flip-flops. Sothere is really nowhere to sit that is comfortable that doesn't put you in the middle of a restaurant.

Our travel group loved the space and amenities of the BijBlauw 2 bedroom apartment. The space was gorgeous and kitchen included all amenities including dishes and cutlery perfect for meals out on the terrace. The staff were friendly and helpful both within the hotel space and the restaurant. BijBlauw gave us the perfect place to relax and recharge after our adventures around Curaçao.

This is a beautiful hotel. My wife and I stayed in the \"fiddler on the roof\" (what the room is called). The room is very spacious, and you have your own private terraces. The terraces is spacious and has amazing views. I highly recommend adding the daily breakfast. I also recommended having dinner and watching the sunset. All the food we ate was delicious. The staff was great and gave great recommendations for places to visit and eat while on the trip. I could not have asked for a better place to stay. My wife and I will be coming back and staying at BijBlauw.

Excellent. Very friendly service. But internet wasa very weak. They had 4-5 wifis but none could stream video and even trying to get eMail out was \"stop and go\" so I had to use my cell phone hotsport which worked a little better but I had to tape my phone high up on the window to get enough bars...not good if you are there on business.

The restaurant area is on the ocean and the food is delicious. We had a different breakfast every day of our six day stay and all were good as was the dinner we had there. Unfortunately (no fault of the hotel) there was construction next door so for now try to get a room in the yellow or blue buildings vs the red one (rooms 11-14).

The staff here are wonderful. My room was clean! The view (private terrace—ocean front room) was exceptional!!! The restaurant on premise was excellent. The only “negative” is the bed…it isn’t the best, and only two pillows (although I’m sure if I had asked they would’ve given me additional)

Overall, I would highly recommend and certainly stay again.

Loved the location. Room 5 was adequate, needed more than a sheet to sleep with. Staff was wonderful. Halls and stairs were very dark, especially after sunset. Door lock into room 5 was janky. I think it could easily be pulled off and key was hard to open. Restaurant on grounds was excellent!

The outstanding commitment for service was impressed. My arrival was expected by 8:pm of August 21st, and I made it by 10pm because my flight was delayed. The staff at the hotel was waiting for me, and even with the restaurant closed, they did all their best and feed me when I arrived making my arrival very happy and pleased. The premises are tasty designed. I highly recommend this facility.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff! Everyone was warm and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and appreciated. We were in an apartment room that listed air conditioning as an amenity; however, only the bedrooms were air conditioned. The other rooms in the apartment were very warm and uncomfortable. It’s a beautiful property with a unique feel!

The definitive place to stay in Curaçao

This was our favourite hotel on the island and we stayed at a three different places during our trip. We even cut one hotel stay short only to come back here. The level of service, kindness and attention given to us was unmatchable with any other place. From making us smoothies late at night (not something they typically do, and memorized our preferences!), to amazing breakfasts and dinners, ocean views, to ensuring we were always well taken care of like family, we wont be staying anywhere else on our return, and neither should you. The old charm and architecture of the building's and room mixed with modern comfort and central location to everything can't be beat. I'll say it once again, we fell in love with this place because of the service from everyone here, made us feel like we were the only guests there and that was truly remarkable. I dont write reviews ever, this place was worth vouching for.

Hotel great. Honestly... this all subjective. I am fine with no view, balcony, pillows not great, no luxury sheets. And street noise!.I already stayed beach resort before coming here. Now- the people at this hotel are excellent and truly WORK at making stay special. Ava at front desk- a gem. The management and efficiency of hotel excellent. Food was soo great!!!!! Feel like a guest at hotel. Quality of service exceptional. Products in bathroom were top notch. If you travel around- like me, they can help arrange taxis and excursions- but lots privacy in room. If you on honeymoon- go for suite w view.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay at this hotel. The hotel was well located within walking distance to many restaurants and bars.

We booked the Deluxe Double Room with the City View - a spacious room on the 2nd floor with a large balcony overlooking the city. The room was beautifully decorated with chic designs. I wish the soundproofing would be better with blackout drapes, as the window shutters didn't work well.

We had lunch during our first day here, and the dishes were delicious (steak tartare and poke bowl). We saw many people having dinner there, but honestly, with so many great options nearby (Sal and Komi), we wanted to try elsewhere.

The view from the restraint was gorgeous. We went snorkeling on our last day at the hotel, and it was a paradise underwater.

Street parking was plenty right outside the hotel.

Bijblauw is a small boutiuqe hotel by the water.
there is no beach access, the hotel has a small pool.
The staff is very nice. The room we had was called deluxe with sea view. The room is not luxurious but had erything you need. The bathroom was almost as large as the room and well done. If you do not include breakfast in the room rate note that the breakfast becomes very expensive. Location is perfect - near to lots of restaurants and bars - easy to walk to the center of town. I would recommend the Bijblauw if you are looking to be in a small hotel which is well done in a sort of north european design.

What a great, friendly staff from hotel to restaurant. Room had a big deck over looking ocean which was lovely especially in the evenings. The room is sparse, could use a desk or a stand for luggage but the vibe is so good... Great location, walking distance to a lot of good dining locations. Bijblauw exceeded my expectations. This unique establishment aesthetics gave an old Dutch rustic feel. I was blown away by my room. I loved how the shower was a nice size with a huge overhead shower and hand held one. It can fit about 4 adults easily. The king size bed was very comfortable and had a sun roof right above. I also loved that the TV was hidden and remote controlled to reveal it. In addition, right outside my room there was a rooftop seating area overlooking the beautiful blue ocean. Lastly, the staff was very welcoming and attentive. From the time I checked in until I checked out, I was treated with care and respect. I highly recommend Bijblauw.

Thank you so much for your wonderful service and kindness. The property is the best location for all our activities, especially, scuba diving! The staff were very kind and responsive to our needs, especially since the number of steps were difficult with luggage and there was no designating parking for the property, but it all worked out rather easily. The buildings are so strikingly beautiful and the restaurant chef was so attentive! It was a pleasure to call this boutique hotel our home for 9 days.

This is a very nice property. We do have some recommendation. I had the junior Suite but the bathroom did not have any form of air ventilation system which made it uncomfortable. I also recommend adding some thermal drapes in the front to block the evening Sun, because that causes the room with no natural or mechanical air flow to become very hot and hard to cool off with the A/C. Hallway to the room has the same issue with the ventilation. Very nice neighborhood and Super friendly Staff and Clean and comfortable bedding.

Bijblauw is a lovely, stylish boutique hotel in the colorful Petermaii district of Willemstad. It is run by a very friendly, courteous and helpful army of young women who went out of their way to answer my every need during my one-week stay. The seaside restaurant is also exceptional (the trufle risotto is to die for) and the service is outstanding. My only complaint would be that the room itself somewhat lacked comfort as it only had a wooden bench and hard wooden chairs. One comfortable chair would be a welcome addition!

The property was quiet and Bohemian with easy check-in and check-out processes and parking. Able to walk to some neighboring restaurants. The chef's table at Bijblauw was excellent for my birthday celebration! with win pairings and the chef explaining each meal! The only suggestion is to have a full-length mirror, the pool could have some stairs for the opposite end to enter in, and an ironing board in the rooms.

It starts with the front desk staff, they did so much to help with reservation bookings, Covid test bookings, answering the litany of open questions with great energy, enthusiasm and treat it as if it’s their own needs. That alone is fantastic, but the room itself was very clean, well appointed and include a very cold ac unit which was helpful for someone who runs hot. The attached restaurants and shop are also an excellent addition. The restaurant overlooks the ocean with a perfect view. But as most things, people make or breaks an experience and everyone at BijBlauw was amazing, especially Mimi.

We stayed our first few nights in the city to explore Willemstad. We’re not city people, typically, but we found the location to be better than expected. We had a small beach right next door and a water view from our large private deck. The room was small, but lovely, and the staff was wonderful. We ate three meals at the restaurant and all of them were great. Not true local food, of course, but nice to spoil ourselves before heading off to the more low key west end for the remainder of our trip.

The restaurant and hotel staff were very courteous and the food at the restaurant was excellent. The internet was very fast. The air conditioner wasn't working in my room. They transferred me to another room where the A/C worked very well but no blanket so I was quite cold. My bathroom sink also had a leak. Whenever I used it water came gushing out at the bottom. I think this hotel has a lot of potential they just need to tighten up a few loose ends.

Very well designed space though stairs to room could be challenging. Loved the room but hard to cool. The people were wonderful and the restaurant location and boutique delightful.

The hotel is conveniently located in a nice and safe neighborhood, also it is within walking distance of Dutch town. There is a restaurant on site that serves delicious food overseeing the ocean as well as restaurants nearby. The staff is friendly and very helpful in making your stay enjoyable. The room is clean and maintained. Above all, the ocean view front is serene and beautiful! Love it!!

The hotel is in a renovation area about 10 minutes walk from the center of Willemstadt. Many of the former colonial homes and mansions have been renovated and turned into hotels, restaurants and small boutique shops. Many other buildings are still dilapidated but the area is safe to walk into town. The hotel is long and narrow with a bar / restaurant area facing the sea. Room was old traditional in style but well decorated. Staff were ultra friendly and accommodating. good selection of bars and restaurants a short walk away (including the cool St Tropez hotel with great infinity pool and bar next door). The hotel has a narrow lap pool in the bar area. The sea area in this location is rocky so this is not a family beach type destination but it was great for my requirements.

Close to town center.

No hot water in bathroom sink and did not have a door so water got all over the floor. No mirror in bedroom area. No maps or information on things to do in the area. Dinner was wonderful but you had to wait a long time to get your breakfast meal when dining in the hotel. Dining location had beautiful setting!

Nice small hotel

Simple clean and well located, this hotel is a great alternative to stay in curacao. Staff is very friendly. We had a small issue in our room and it was solved rapidly. Has a nice store in it too. It does have a pool but it is in the middle of the restaurant so not very appealing and no loungers. My kids did use the pool one day though. I did not use it because i felt weird being in the pool adn people having lunch just there. The restaurant is nice as well, good food lovely ambience. We rented a 2 bedroom apartment which is nice bu could use one tv in one of the bedrooms ( it does have a small tv in the living area) and it is quite noisy until 12 at night- the speakers of the restaurant can be hear very clearly in the room, even though music is nice you will still hear it until restaurant closes. it has a nice kitchen, seems new and well mantained even though we did not use it.

Great hotel, beautiful location, wonderful staff!

I had a terrific recent stay at the BijBlauw. The staff is amazing, and the hotel itself is clean and comfortable. The location is also unbeatable, within a short walk of restaurants, shops, and beaches. I highly recommend having a drink or meal at the beautiful oceanside restaurant. Whatever you do, you’re sure to have a nice stay at the BijBlauw!

Beautiful place! A little slice of heaven...

It was our second stay at the BijBlauw, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first! Staff are attentive and helpful, rooms are tastefully and organically decorated as well as quiet, clean and super comfy. Breakfast for two in the seaside restaurant is spectacular. We'll be dreaming about the croissants until next time.

Loved our stay

Stayed here for 3 nights after a 4 nights stay at Baoase; it was a great change of pace. The comfortable suite is pretty small but great for busy days and comfy nights. The staff were very nice and attentive. The woman who helped us out found things for us to do, recommended her favorite local (non touristy) areas, and even booked a trip for us and putting the deposit charge on our room. The restaurant is phenomenal and the BEST in the area. We literally ate there every night, and I wish we had eaten there every day for breakfast. Highly recommend - super cute, affordable, and fun.

Boutique hotel on the water

BijBlauw is a perfect little boutique hotel right on the water with a great restaurant. Walking distance to shops and wonderful restaurants. The staff are helpful and super nice. The rooms are on the small size but wonderfully decorated with rustic beachy touches.

The Bij Blauw is an amazing hotel. The staff, the location, the restaurant - everything is spectacular. The restaurant is an open air space which overlooks the Caribbean Sea. The breakfast for two is not to be missed. The staff is very attentive and will assist with arranging all tours and activities. The concept store which is part of the hotel carries beautiful clothing from the Netherlands.
