The rooms are very nice and great view. The feel of lobby and other areas of the hotel are more like an all inclusive.
Roof top is spectacular and barely anyone there.

This hotel is definitely not 4* as it claims. I found the people at the reception to be unhelpful and sometimes down right rude. When I got the hotel I discovered to my horror that they are renovating on the floor above me with noise of banging and drilling going on for most of the day, the worse thing was that when I booked the hotel on Expedia nowhere did it say that there are any renovations in progress during my stay. The room itself was nice comfortable and clean but the hotel itself was boring, there was some silly entertainment at night and I found the food to be unimaginative, and repetitive.
The saving grace to this trip was the glorious weather and beautiful Tenerife. And I would definitely visit Tenerife again.
This hotel might be some people's Cup of tea, mine it was absolutely not and would not stay there again even if was free!!

We had an amazing stay at El Tope, it was just what we wanted. Would love to see some more amenities at the hotel and more activities/events within the hotel itself. The rooftop bar was a highlight which seemed newly built, there were works going on whilst we were there so hopefully even more new stuff to come! Thanks El Tope for a wonderful vacation

After having read a lot of negative reviews we were a little apprehensive about the hotel but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We were able to check-in an hour and a half early and staff were all very friendly and professional. Room was lovely and everywhere was very clean. Some building work going on but didn’t cause any issues. Plenty of choice at mealtimes and it was always presented beautifully. The rooftop bar is amazing! Bit of a steep hill or steps into town but lots in the area to see and bus stops close by. Really lovely hotel and good value for money.

A great stay for my week in Tenerife. Great place to be close to local amenities but I had hired a car so explored the island. Ample sunbeds when I stayed - no need to reserve by towel!
When I stayed in late Feb / early March 2023 it was mainly being visited by older German singles and couples who were polite and respectful. Very quiet despite its closeness to the town centre which was ideal for me.
A great buffet breakfast each day and lovely staff who were attentive should you need them. Very limited parking on-site but at the time I visited this wasn't a problem and I got one of the 20 or so spots every time.
Have a great stay here! I enjoyed it - it was perfect for my needs. Thank you!

The hotel sits on a hill with nice view. Since it's not on the beach and the sea view is partially blocked by other high-rise hotels, that could block the hotel from asking full price (?). However, the area is nice and convenient with beach, restaurants, bus stops and supermarket all withing walking distance. Also, breakfast buffet is top rated with lots of varieties. Will be back next year!

It’s was a nice stay overall. The food were delicious and the staffs are very friendly. Our room is always clean.
The location is not bad it’s about 15 minutes going to the beach and around 8 minutes to the grocery inside a small shopping mall.
It’s also near some small local restaurants. Going back to the hotel is uphill. It’s a struggle if you’re not very fit, me and my wife always have to stop halfway to catch our breath. In the room there’s no kettle provided and you have to rent the safety box.
We booked our holiday from 5-10 September 2022 which is after summer break surprisingly it’s still a little bit busy. I would like to mention Isabel from front desk as she’s very friendly and helpful all the time

All staff I spoke to were really friendly and helpful. I really liked the pool area as it gets sun for a large part of the day unlike some of the other hotels in the area. You also have a magnificent view of Mount Teide from the sun loungers! There are nice views out towards the sea from the other side of the hotel which I enjoyed from my balcony. I was there in February and the hotel was busy but still did not feel crowded which I really appreciate as a solo traveller. There is free parking at the front of the hotel and an amazing little tapas restaurant (El Camino) only 2 minutes walk away (if you chose not to eat in the hotel). If you want a relaxing place but still close to the tourist attractions then I recommend El Tope.

Better options out there!

Extremely bare bones room although it was spacious! I had a small corner deck and large window that took a whole wall so I was excited about all the daylight. The view however was that of what looked to be a garbage dump. Being in the second floor with easy access and a very dodgy , dark hallway directly down from me I didn’t feel overly safe. I asked to upgrade to a higher floor but they would have to charge me ten more euros a day. I felt for that rate I would go elsewhere which was a great decision. Much better value for money where I’m at now ( puerto palace). So if you stay I would highly recommend the main tower… spend the extra money for the sea views. On a positive note, Stephanie at the front desk was superb!!!

Hotel El Tope is a well managed 4 star hotel that lives up to the expectations of a hotel of this type. Our stay was on a B & B basis and did not disappoint. The staff from reception, to front of house and housekeeping were all extremely pleasant ensuring an enjoyable stay in this comfrotable establishment.
Breakfast was an extensive hot and cold buffet with something for every taste. The hot food is constanstanly replenished ensuring a quality breakfast.
Poolside facilities and service are equally as good providing a relaxing space to chill.
My travelling companion had a birthday during our stay and the hotel reception staff acknowleged this with a surprise hand written birthday card and a bottle of chilled sparkling wine delivered to our room on the day. A most unexpected and appreciated gesture. Thank you!

When it says it has parking that deceiving as there is maybe 20 spots and it’s a huge hotel. Also my WiFi in my room never worked and the front desk never fixed after requesting help several times. The lady at the front desk gave local suggestions and a map with free places to park if they were open, if not you can park at the hotel next door for 5 euros a night.

Great hotel - staff all exceptionally friendly , particularly the waiters at dinner . Nice rooms with a nice sea view and the location is great in terms of things to do around Puerto de la Cruz . Only downside is the walk down / up the hill - it can be quite testing but if you don’t mind a walk then would definitely recommend this hotel .

Our visit was good. We were told we had a king size bed but it was 2 singles pushed together ( the ridge in the middle was uncomfortable). Also both beds sag in the middle. Each day we were spoken to in German by staff in the dining room - being in Spain i would expect spanish. Being English i would not expect to be spoken to in german every day. Thank you for our stay.

Everything was nice for its price, but several things can be improved:
* Wi-Fi coverage is bad. In our room we were able to reach only at the toilet door.
* Some facilities are outdated like shabby outer walls and so on.
* Pool area looks empty (just few palms and lots of sunbeds) and therefore not so comfortable. Would be great to have more plants there, some design.

Free Parking in Puerto de la Cruz

Easy for GPS to find (though a sign on the entrance side of building would
help). Limited parking, but we always found a place. Wonderful room
with great views. The views come from being up on the hill-making for
a very strenuous walk back from the shore area. Breakfast had a good
selection, but the number of guests made it quite noisy!!! We went
elsewhere for dinner as the hotel sounded pricey. Down the hill,
there were many nice restaurants.

I picked the place by price , so it was very good for me. Breakfast was excellent, also dinner. Easy access to highway, but a bit remote location when walking, I suppose.
Only slight problem was with parking. Only few places in the courtyard, so if you are not fast enough, there can be a problem to find a place nearby.

We were incredibly tired by the time we made it to the hotel as we were at the end of our trip. The hotel staff were so helpful, accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed our view, the location was great although we didn't necessarily take full advantage of it. We spent time at the pool which was wonderful. The room was really clean, comfortable and exactly what we needed after an iffy air bnb. We were also grateful for the free parking.

GRAN HOTEL EL TOPE

We recently stayed at The Gran Hotel El Tope for 9 nights. We hadn't had a holiday in 4 years and really needed a break and chose this hotel after reading many positive reviews, we had no problems at all with staff they were all very friendly and helpful. However, we were very disappointed with our room. It was not to our liking with faded, dirty stained carpet, our double bed was two very uncomfortable single beds(not the same height) pushed together. All the room fixtures and fittings were old fashioned and need to be updated. The only exception was the bathroom which was new and very nice. The communal areas in the hotel also need modernisation. We found the breakfast and Dinner Buffets to be very good value with plenty of choice. During our stay there were maintenance works being undertaken and the noise was quite disruptive. The worst part though for me was the very steep hill up to the Hotel which I found very challenging but had to use to access the main town or seaside. My husband was disappointed that the gym was hardly ever open and when he did gain access there was no treadmill, the surrounding area is unsuitable for running.

Fantastic stay! Room was cleaned each day and food was lovely. The pool wasn't what I'd expect for a four star hotel however upkept well and pool guard lovely. Wouldn't recommended for families of young children; more couples, adults and business. All the staff were lovely, except the waiters a bit hit and miss. Most were lovely however with a few they didn't hide they were having a bad day in the peak of dinner. We had a lovely time, the town is lovely (not a beach holiday though, due to sand and waves) and the hotel was fantastic.

The hotel was clean, the room was small with only a single bed when I had booked a twin room. In general it was fine, one of the gentlemen at the reception was a lot more friendly and helpful than the other. English was spoken well by most staff which was useful. The location is good, a short walk to the main strip full of restaurants and the beach. Just need to remember that booking a 4 star hotel in Europe usually means a 3 star in the UK .

we enjoyed our stay, but wouldnt personally call it 4 star, not a lot to complain about, but not a lot to rave about either. rooms where clean but dated, paper peeling in places. we found waitingstaff in bars and resteraunts very good, reception staff poor. food was fine by me, buffet style which actually suits me. all in all it served its purpose, would use it again for a winter break. and have to say regular users of the hotel we met all spoke highly of the place. costs wher also reasonable in the hotel

Surprisingly good

By international standards not superior class, but a very good hotel for Tenerif! I was pleasantly surprised.

Clientele is mostly German and English and of varying ages, with the bulk formed by couples in their fifties.

Rooms are clean and of adequate size. I had the seaview, which was really nice, although I didn't spend much time in the balcony. Standard old-school TV, rather comfy beds. The fridge worked well, and proved extremely useful.

Breakfast buffet as expected. You get your standard cereals, yoghurt, 2nd rate bread of different types, with local charcuteries and cheese, etc. Sparkling wine adds a nice touch (but who drinks a) in the morning, b) demi-sec?). Also plenty of sausages, hash browns, beans - and a chef who'll fry you an egg or two, for those more inclined for the heavier breakfast. Some fruits as well. Genuinely friendly waiters.

The hotel has a wifi, but only at the lobby and the two bars.

There is a tiny gym downstairs, run (and used) by some local athletes. It costs you extra to use it, but you also get to use the sauna and the jacuzzi. Or that's what they say - when you try to use the jacuzzi it might suddenly be \"broken\", as happened to me. Gym equipment is old, and the gym is really small, but for some this is adequate for the occasional quick excercise. Up to you.

Twice a week the lobby bar is taken over by one of the local entertainers, with the age-proven formula of one guy and a synthesizer slaughtering all the classics. This proves especially burdensome since wifi is only accessible in areas where you are at the mercy of the entertainer. Then again, most people hopefully do not need a wifi on their holidays.

Location was good for me. Within 15 min walk from the main plaza (Charco), and ~7mins from the sea. Some step climbing required to reach the hotel everytime you come back to the hotel.

Overall this was a very pleasant surprise of a hotel. If I ever go back to Tenerif, I would probably choose the same hotel again.

Den schönen Ausblick in Richtung der Playa Martianez vom Balkon bezahlt man durch die Lage des Gebäudes im Hang. Es gibt zwar sogar ein kleines integriertes Fitness-Studio im Keller mit ein paar Geräten, wenn man das möchte, der tägliche mehrmalige Gang über mehrere hundert Stufen von der Stadt hinauf zum Hotel erspart einem das aber eigentlich.
Einen der wenigen (etwa 15) Parkplätze auf dem Hotelgelände zu ergattern ist je nach Tageszeit unmöglich bis extrem unwahrscheinlich. Wenn man Pech hat, muss man 15 min Fußweg bergauf entfernt auf einem Parkplatz in Richtung der Stadtgrenze parken, weil die Stadt mit Autos brechend voll ist, außer man landet einen Glückstreffer und es fährt gerade jemand los...
In jedem Fall sollte man gut zu Fuß sein ;)
Essensangebot bei Frühstück und Abendessen gut und reichhaltig, dort wird sicher jeder Geschmack fündig! Der Speisesaal erinnert von der Atmosphäre leider an eine Mischung von Mensa und Reha, da sehr kahl und laut.
Wer auf Schnickschnack steht, hat noch eine Dachterrasse mit Tagesbar und 2 HotTubs, einen Pool im Außenbereich, den genannten Fitnessraum und eine kleine Sauna zur Auswahl.
In Gesamtbetrachtung eine solide und gute, zentral gelegene Unterkunft, die den reinen Zweck des Übernachtens (und auch einige Schnickschnack Angebote) gut erfüllt. Die 4 Sterne sind aber nicht angebracht. Dafür erwarte ich mir mehr Qualität in der Einrichtung und Zimmerausstattung.

De medewerkers zijn heel vriendelijk. Naast het hotel (naast onze kamer) vond de renovatie van het zwembad plaats. De bouwvakkers begonnen om 07.00 uur met luide werkzaamheden. Wanneer je op vakantie bent is dat niet wenselijk. Aangegeven bij de receptie, ze zouden het doorgeven aan de bouwvakkers, maar een andere (soortgelijke) kamer was niet beschikbaar. Ontbijt was zeer uitgebreid. Het buffet diner was veel, niet altijd even vers. De top roof was geweldig. Fantastisch uitzicht met een heerlijke whirlpool. Al met al een prima verblijf.

Die Lage des Hotels ist super, das Hotel hat schon bessere Zeiten gesehen - wird aber derzeit Stück für Stück neueren Standards angepasst.Tolle neue Dachterrasse incl. 2 Whirlpools mit sagenhaftem Blick über die gesamte Region !!!
Inakzeptabel dagegen ist der Bar-Veranstaltungs-Raum,dem jegliche Atmosphäre fehlt .

Un 10/10 sin duda… De malaga a Tenerife

Mi pareja y yo estuvimos alojados 5 dias y el servicio maravilloso, mucha amabilidad en el personal del hotel, especialmente con la chica de recepción que nos recibió el jueves por la tarde (no supimos el nombre y no la volvimos a ver durante el fin de semana), Pedro del restaurante y Miriam (de cocina) que nos deleitó con platos muy ricos y una amabilidad excepcional. La comida bastante casera, trataban de variar y mantenían siempre todo en excelentes condiciones.

La limpieza y el orden en el hotel era notable, las camareras de piso de la platan 3 sin duda muy amables y siempre atentas.

El único detalle es el problema para aparcar por la zona ya que el hotel no dispone de parking, tiene algunas plazas fuera pero son completamente insuficientes, aunque con la amabilidad del personal siempre dispuesto a solucionar se esmeraban por ayudar a conseguir “algún huequito” cuando se podía.

Sin duda volveremos a ver cómo quedará esa reforma :)

Okay mit gutem Standort und preiswert.

Das Hotel überzeugt dank seinem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis und dem eigentlich guten Standort für etwelche Ausflüge mit Bus und/oder um einen Beach-Tag zu absolvieren. Alles in kleiner Gehdistanz erreichbar. Zimmer war grosszügig, zweckmässig und sauber. Nachttischlampe flackerte nur statt zu leuchten und in der Dusche war eigentlich nur ein kleiner Wasseraustritt spürbar statt richtig duschen zu können. Man stellt fest, dass das Hotel ins Alter gekommen ist und länger nicht mehr renoviert wurde. Pool hat's auch, doch mehr zur Show als effektiv nutzbar. Beim Frühstück ist Quantität vor Qualität und halt in einem grossen Raum ohne Ambiente und viel Lärm. Service ist freundlich und spricht mehrere Sprachen, allerdings könnte es noch eine Spur zuvorkommender sein.

Points forts:
Le personnel est sympa que ce soit à l'accueil ou au resto ou par les femmes de ménage.
Beaucoup de choix pour le petit déjeuner et diner (en demi pension) Par contre les boissons ne sont pas inclues
Les points à améliorer sont :
- le bruit car il y a des travaux et les baies ont du jeu
- le manque de places de parking (environ 15 places pour tout l'hôtel)
- attention il faut être sportif car beaucoup de marches ou une pente assez raide pour accéder à l'hôtel depuis la plage

L'ensemble du personnel est très sympathique
Chambre spacieuse et lit très confortable. Buffets très copieux
Point noir pour le parking bcp trop petit par rapport au nombre de chambres, ce qui occasionne également des manoeuvres pour les bus avec leurs bips de marche arrière très désagréables Bruits également dus à des travaux à l'extérieur et mauvaise isolation au niveau de la baie

Hotel muy antigo, hacendo reforma con hospedes, desde pronto escucha el trator con escombros, sin aire condicionado, estava apagado y un calor en la habitación.

La verdad que lo mejor han sido las vistas que he tenido desde la habitación, en la 6ª Planta.
La playa está muy poco accesible, y el aparcamiento también deja mucho que desear...
La comida muy buena, y con mucha variedad, pero en el todo incluido no entra toda la bebida, incluso pedimos un barraquito y te lo ponían pero sin licor...
De la habitación lo que no me gustó fue la moqueta.

No tienen jabón y champú diferenciado. Instalaciones muy antiguas. Las camas no las levantan y las sábanas son pequeñas y se salen al dormir. El buffet siempre el mismo por la mañana y por la noche. No hay casi espacio para aparcar. No es un 4*.

Hotel proche du centre ville. Très bien entretenu très propre personnel agréable souriant. Chambre spacieuse on avait la chambre vue mer au 1er étage mais très calme literie très bonne .restauration très variées de très bonne qualité. Avec du choix .Le bar toit terrasse magnifique les cokails sont top vraiment super hôtel...(attention le parking est très petit pour les voitures de location.l. Le stationnement est compliqué sur toute l île )je recommande vivement
