A very disappointing hotel in desperate need of refurbishment. Our Junior Suite was nothing like the photographs in the hotel promotion. It was a dark gloomy room with dangerous wiring. The tv couldn't be plugged in and the door to the balcony wouldn't lock. (We were on the first floor and the unlocked door was a real worry.) The food was mediocre. Entertainment left a great deal to be desired.

Not recommend to anyone. Never stay there again.
We paid almost $500 per night and it was wast of money. We had cockroaches in the room. Room was old. They charge €15 per night per car. Never find parking on the street. We had breakfast and dinner included in the price but we had to pay for the water at dinner (anything do drink you have to pay). Never happed in different hotel. This hotel is overpriced.

We stayed for 10 days. Booked a suite. We originally were on the 16th floor with a mountain view, the room was fine, except for the railing being wobbly. We wanted an ocean view and the front desk was kind enough to give us 2 different suites to choose from. Both were nice, we ended up on the 9th floor.

The whole hotel is dated. Like a time warp to the 90's. It's clean and generally well maintained but it's in need of a serious update.

The food was not great. Especially for someone with food allergies. A sign saying \"Assorted Meat\" doesnt cut it. We mostly ate at local restaurants because the buffet was so poorly labelled. The signs for chicken and pork were reversed at one point. There was seafood next to the salads etc.

Lunch was... well it was gross. Im not a health nut, but theres no way I was going to eat anything from the lunch options.

The A La Carte restaurants... its the same restaurant. Just different nights have different themes. The food was ok at best. Not really worth the hype.

Water was a huge issue. You get 2 bottles of water per room per day. Thats it. Dont ask for more. And if you miss the delivery, the front desk will just tell you to go fill a cup in the bar. The bar staff will tell you to go ask the front desk for bottles, it's an endless loop of never-ending thirst.

The location is amazing, the town is amazing. The service staff were great, the housekeepers were fabulous.

I would go back to the town, but likely not to this hotel.

We had a really disappointing experience at this hotel. It is definitely not 4 stars, 3 if you get a renovated room, less if you’re in the others (which make up the majority). We were given the latter to start with and the room was shabby and dirty, paint peeling off all of the furniture and mould in the bathroom. The food was average (avoid the a la carte restaurants completely as these are worse, and charge you if half board). The pool area is nice and it’s a convenient location. The spa was nice but again this is an extra charge and not made clear. Some staff cheerful and helpful, others are really rude. Not quite sure how this hotel has the ratings it does, maybe from a few returning customers. I’d definitely avoid.

The good: We had a great time. Everything was very clean and the staff was very attentive. The entertainment staff did an amazing job with the kids. The food was always good and plentiful as were the drinks. The location couldn't have been more perfect. The bad:Elevators definitely need serviced. Showers have poor water pressure. The air conditioning didnt work on our first night and there was a leak in our ceiling. One bartender always seemed a bit grumpy. All of the entertainment was geared towards the kids leaving the adults with only drinking to entertain ourselves.

What could have been great, ruined.

The good:

The hotel grounds are super nice with lots of vegetation
Great amenities
Food was pretty good and had decent variety
Room was comfortable and spacious
AMAZING location and views! Close to everything, close to airport
Staff is super nice

The not so good:

The beds are super hard, so if that is an issue for you, ask for a topper at reception
Room would smell mouldy and horrible when AC ran too long. Took 4 days to only partially resolve, but was still smelling bad when we left.
It is no smoking, but everyone smokes on their balcony, so we could never keep the patio door open.
Pool steps were super slippery, ended up spraining my foot mid way through our stay.
Even though the food had good variety, items that were more popular always ran out quickly and had trouble being refilled.
Parking spaces are SUPER TIGHT
Day 2: Someone took our parking spot and we had to be relocated.

The horrible:

A group of football players took over the hotel causing chaos, constant noise, taking over the pool, buffet, bars. They completely ruined our experience and the front desk could only shrug and say \"Sorry\" without doing anything. They ended up leaving 2 days before we left, so 4 days of our vacation of getting woken up all the time, having absolutely no fun at the pool and not being able to get any peace eating at the buffet. The hotel did not really care about our constant complaints on this topic, even though they were reactive for other topics.

The views from the balcony of our room were very nice. We could hear the waves from the ocean when we woke up. That’s the positive. The negative: It says parking is available, but that’s a stretch of the truth. There are a few spots available—maybe 10–but it’s first come, first served. No reservations accepted. We stayed three nights and were never able to park there. Where can you park? On the street if you can find a spot. We looked and looked, without success. You can park at the mall for 35€ a day. Next—breakfasts and dinner are included and the dinner was bad enough that we only ate there once out of three nights. Next—the cleaning service knocks on the door and opens it at the same time. They saw me in my bra a few times, as I had no warning. Maintenance came to fix the tub (that wasn’t broken and I didn’t call them) and just keyed in at the same time he knocked. He saw me naked. Should also note that this is a place that caters to small children. It’s full of kids having fun, crying, screaming, etc. I would not stay here again.

Excellent stay. Great value. Food was great staff friendly. Loved it when staff showed you to a table rather than the usual all inclusive scrum to get seated together. Food refreshed frequently and wide variety to suit picky kids. Hardly any queues to bar. Ok the lifts are a bit slow but if that’s the negative …. Definitely visit again

Food was good, pool area well taken care off and staff in the pool bar area well helpful and very friendly.
The lounge bar often had queues in the evening thought the staff worked very hard to keep things moving. Didn’t like the fact that only local spirits on offer for all inclusive and full price charged for branded spirits. Other hotel I have visited charged a supplement not full price.

Big and uninspiring

It’s a huge complex which was catering mainly for older and mainly German people. The staff were friendly. The lifts: only two out of three worked. In a full board or half board hotel like this the food was of poor quality. I suppose if you want lots of cheap food, this is the place.
It’s a little out of the old town but is set near some fine coast with surfers enjoying the great waves.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, there was some building work going on at the hotel, and it we could hear drilling in the morning. There was also building work in the neighbourhood.
Great location, the hotel is on the seafront and you only need to cross the road to get to the beach. It is at the end of the promenade and easy to get into town.
The only other draw back was the air conditioning which was not having much effect, so we had to sleep on top of the bed as we were too warm.

2. We ordered half board, actually at dinner demanded payment on all types of drinking including water.

No lifeguard on duty - dangerous!

I was watching my 2 kids in the pool since the lifeguard was not there when another kid running next to the pool slipped over the wet floor. His mom came to the rescue, but nobody else from the hotel came.
When I went to look for the lifeguard, she was at the towel booth giving out pool towels to hotel guests.
I asked her in Spanish what she was doing there since she had the lifeguard t-shirt on, and she said the front desk manager told her to be at the towel booth and watching the pool at the same time.
2 jobs at the same time?. She was annoyed that she was told to be at the booth when children were at the pool. She also told me she was the youngest employee in the hotel. She was sorry for not being at the pool when the child fell.
Amazing that they have someone that young doing 2 jobs: lifeguard and serving pool towels.
I wonder if that falls within the safety pool regulations in Bahia Principe hotel.

All-inclusive rip-off and irresponsible front desk

I purchased all-inclusive (breakfast, lunch, dinner and other meals/perks). When I arrived at the hotel and wanted to place a reservation for a theme restaurant dinner included in all-inclusive, the front desk told me that I needed to reserve at least a week in advance. A week? we were going to be there for 4 days only. So we missed it even though we paid for it.

In addition to that, I was charged 20 Euros for parking outside (10 E fee and 10 E deposit). The deposit was refunded but not the 10 Euros fee even though parking was included in the all-inclusive.
When I told the front desk, they actually denied that I paid for parking and they never returned me the parking fee. Amazing! I felt powerless because the front desk did not even listen to me, he kept cutting me off and saying that the payment was not in his computer system.

In summary, a bad experience my family and I had at this Bahia Principe hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
I also put a sad face for cleanliness because of the constant sewer bathroom smell. Totally disgusting. And of course, the front desk would not change our room because it was all full, even though I could find rooms available online.
Where does Bahia Principe find these front desk people to hire? Do they train them to be polite with their customers?

EasyJet (budget airline) style 4* hotel

Good bits:
- Very good location with great views
- Some of the staff in restaurant are very friendly
- Breakfast and dinner if very good
- Rooms are neat and tidy

Bad experience:
- Booked a double bed but got two single beds, when asked they said it is not guaranteed, but when I asked for the difference in price they said they will not reduce it.
- Staff at reception behave as if they are doing you a favour by letting you stay at their hotel
- Parking is not free (even though the website says). They got only 3-4 places for the entire hotel and is reserved for their premium payers
- Need to pay for safe
- booked a half board assuming drinks like juices are included, but they didnt even give water for free, not even for a child. (So DONT book the half board)
- Says Jacuzzi, Sauna, gym are available for members, but they all extra
- No wifi in rooms or lounge, need to pay extra
- Pool was useless (filled with really cold salty water)
These extra fees were not clearly mentioned in Expedia booking. Not sure if it was expedia's fault or the hotel's.

Who will find this hotel suitable:
- Older people (I found 90% of the hotel with them)
- All inclusive bookings

I have stayed in many 4 star hotels and things like wifi, water, sauna, jacuzzi, gym were all included in the prices. That is what differentiates between 4* and 2*.

My title is apt for this hotel. I didnt check the reviews before I booked this hotel, had I dont it, would have cancelled my booking immediately.

The concierge was not helpful as they would not help me with airport taxi service. The wifi (premium in room) was very slow and would often go out. The laundry service was expensive, wash a shirt was 8 euros and a new shirt cost 7 at the store down the road.

Have stayed here many times. Still excellent no complaints the staff, the food and the rooms all to a good standard. The only niggle was no parking available the car park is to small for the size of the hotel. Had to park on the supermarket car park up the hill. But you can purchase a long stay ticket from the car park office 20 euros for 4 days so not to bad.

Great location on beach front

Huge selection of high quality dishes at breakfast and dinner. Reasonable room which was a bit cramped but modern and well furnished with beday, bath and shower and large balcony. Shower blew hot and cold occasionally but manageable and very high pressure was welcome. Room not facing sea directly but sea visible to the side and through buildings. Location at one end of Puerto de la Cruz is perfect as close to everything but still reasonably out of the way and right next to beach. Staff were reasonably friendly and unobtrusive.

A good hotel for an older couple. We had Children (ages 14 and 12) who used the pool once, as games not allowed. No balls, floats anything. They could use the tiny pool, ankle deep, but this was freezing. Food OK, could be better but also could be much worse. Staff mostly great, but one reception male was very unhelpful. Lots of rules in general, think they should review all policies to make it a friendlier hotel.

Hotel tired and staff ignore you at reception.

This hotel once was a 4star hotel but it is tired and needs a refurb. We booked a double but got a twin, our room was on the very top floor so we had to carry our luggage up the last flight of stairs. Any time we went to reception the staff were very slow to acknowledge us. Our balcony was tiny with plastic chairs, everyone else had wicker chairs.. The shower pressure was hit and miss, the water was either very hot or freezing. We booked half board as we wanted to be out all day and not tied to returning to the hotel for lunch but we had to pay for every drink which I feel was unfair you should have at least been given one drink free with your dinner. We had to wear a wristband which I found really annoying so they would know what to charge us. I have stayed in several 4star hotels and this one I do not rate.

Although we booked all inclusive be aware that this does not include wifi (limited to only 1 Hour per day and then some sites blocked- expensive if you want to pay. You have to pay per device), extracharge for keysafe ( €25). Unfortunately these leave a bad impression.
Food is plentiful but average. Best thing about this hotel is the location. Right by the beach and in the heart of the town so walkable everywhere. Plenty of decent restaurants nearby.

Our only problems were with parking and the internet service. There are only very limited parking spaces at the hotel, with commercial parking not far away. But there is nothing written anywhere about how to access that parking, which cost us 30 Euros for a week (not bad). The receptionist's verbal description of what was available was a bit vague and included the option o park on street. Arriving lateish after a long flight, one wants more certainty than that.

Internet access is free for an hour a day in the public areas near reception, but the hour cannot be taken in bits (i.e. the hour expires 60 minutes after you first log in). That is not very helpful.

Those are the only complaints.

There was only one elevator working when the hotel was full.Had long wait times.Staff is friendly, buffet meals had wide selection and good quality and presentation.We stayed in a standard room so was very basic comfort wise.We would consider going back, although Puerto de La Cruz has so many options worth trying.

The pool area is great, and buffet selection was substantial, definitely one of the better hotels in this area of the town. If you climb up the hill there's a fabulous bar called Cafe Alba that has incredible sunset views and worth the treck!

Unfortunately not what we expected

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our stay here and left after one day.

The staff were great and having arrived late in the evening we were very pleased that the hotel had taken the time and care to have dinner waiting for us (we had not asked).

Our room was very small and our 3 single beds didn't give us much room - my son didn't even have a head rest (not that this would have been an issue if we had, had something to do apart from staying in the room). The weather was pretty awful and we were stuck in the room or in the bar for the entire day with towels around the doors.

There wasn't much for my son to do apart from play on his iPad although staff had made an effort to put some games together for kids which took place in the bar also.

It was like staying at an old social club unfortunately with a few sandwiches on the side (all inclusive) this was not what we had expected from a 4 star.

We went for the final weekend of Feb/beginning of March which was colder than expected but pleasant nevertheless. The hotel was clean and comfortable although the room smelled of drains. The food was plentiful but only adequate with regard to flavour and quality (tinned fruit for breakfast and squash not juice). There were two front desk staff whilst we were there - one a super young lady who answered questions helpfully and cheerfully. and an older taciturn gentleman who appeared to prefer to cater to the German visitors.There was some evening entertainment which was good but the cocktails were poor. Overall however, we enjoyed our stay and it made an excellent base for what we wanted to do in the area.

Our stay at San Felipe was mostly enjoyable but there were some things lacking.

We arrived at 10pm, after problems with transport from the airport and were pleasantly surprised to be offered a cold buffet, (which another guest told us about), along with a welcome drink.

The fact that there was 1 hour free wifi available was not explained to us and we ended up paying the daily rate, for the duration of our stay.

We were also not aware prior to arrival, that there was a charge for the safe.

Whilst watching tv was not a priority, it was disappointing to have only news channels, and a very old film, on the Arts channel, in English.

We had the half board option but did expect, as we've had elsewhere, for there to be soft drinks or at least water, to drink, with our evening meal, which we didn't have to pay for.

We were only able to book one trip, before we arrived but were assured that there would be someone available to help us with booking more trips. Unfortunately, the only people around were unable to help us, as they didn't speak English and we don't speak enough Spanish. The only help we got was being given a trip list, with minimal details. The reception staff then had to book the trips we wanted, for us and they were busy enough, as it was, so this seems unfair for all involved.

All the staff in the hotel were incredibly helpful, hard working and professional, from the receptionists to the staff in the dining room.

We will return.

Lovely holiday, would recommend.

Lovely hotel, staff, environment and would definitely recommend to others and may stay again if returning to Tenerife. We had a corner junior suite with a wrap-around balcony which had a lovely main view of the pool and a side view of the sea. The room was spacious and spotless but did not have any coffee making facilities, which we would have liked. Housekeeping was excellent. The added bonus of having the children sleep in a separate TV room within our room meant we could put them to bed first without having to have all the lights out at their bedtime. This was a lovely change as on previous holidays we have always shared with the children.
We loved the three pools which our children spent mostly of the holiday in and the added security of a life guard and again the cleanliness was excellent. The children also loved the mini-club and mini-disco activities. I have only given 3/5 for room comfort as the air-con was not good. It smelt of cooking as if it came through the kitchens first (a little odd, given we were on floor 9) and it was not cold. It was moving cooler air about but not enough to make us comfortable on the hotter days. As we were on floor 9 we resorted to leaving the sliding doors open in our room and we benefitted from the sea breeze then. Obviously we couldn't do this in the children's room for safety reasons. Hotel is a little dated but lovely.

Very good vale for money within pleasant walk of centre, bus station, etc. Going up into mountains and west along coast was easy on buses and some good walks.

Getting there from airport in south was a lengthy process as bus waited an hour or two to fill and then took 2 or so hours to get to hotel. Taxis were expensive but we wished we had used them.

We booked this hotel the week before we flew to Tenerife and I think in doing so we paid a reasonable amount for it (averaging probably just over a hundred pounds per night for two, half board) but that was over half-term. The hotel itself was nice enough for a 4 star but what made it worth it for us was the room we got - room 1217 on the twelfth floor which was a corner suite with a separate lounge as well as a bedroom with a king size bed, and a bathroom with a fantastic shower, but the main thing was the biggest balcony I've ever had in a hotel, which was lovely! It faced the sea on one side (which was loud at night with the waves crashing in, and could keep you awake but we didn't mind the noise), and toward the mountains on the other side. It was probably 2 metres deep and 10 metres wide on each side! We had sun on the side part of the balcony until about 3pm. We thought the food was reasonable for this size hotel (with a good amount of choice and some variety every night), and the pool area was nice too. The downsides if I'm being picky is that we had to pay for extras such as wifi (6 euros per day is a lot in my opinion in these days) and the safe in the room, plus pay deposits for towels for the sunbeds, and for a car-parking pass for example. Overall I would stay at this hotel again but would request a corner suite if I did - it might not have seemed so good without that!

We were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We had the junior suite which was very spacious, clean and well maintained. Pool area lovely, no problem with sunbeds and great pool bar with all day snacks. All staff very friendly and helpful. The food was great although we actually preferred the buffet restaurant to the a la carte restaurant. Evening entertainment I was 40 years to young for ( late forties!) but February is clearly the month for the retired so to be expected. Having said that my husband enjoyed the dancers! Would return and recommend!

Great view of the beach

The hotel is located opposite the water and close to the main shops. The black sand is something we had to get used to as it looks dirty. This hotel makes a pleasant stay for the week. Unfortunately the man on duty at Reception upon check in was rude. After a flight (involving airport waits etc) and a 1 hour bus trip you do want some sort of welcome to the place where your holiday is located. His manner needs very serious attention. This resort hotel attracts many elderly Germans it seems...certainly in November.

we had a very nice experience of staying in this hotel. It is above our expectation as the market

,the sea beach and other relevant things are within walking distance , like a mini campus.

The breakfasts, dinners served were of good standard. The staff of the hotel is very cooperative. The shop within the hotel has better response than the market shops. You never
Feel that you are in a strange place. Everything is worth enjoying except the airport in the south Tenerife is far off.

Perfect location and an enjoyable stay

Right opposite to a black sand beach. Very close to shops. Fabulous hotel, friendly staff, clean, and family room very spacious. Hotel activities was good but children activities could be better with more varieties. Good looking hotel but some area need a bit attention or renovation. Buffet cooking was excellent and choices was fairly good ( had better elsewhere in Spain).

Not too impress with the shampoo and soap given in the hotel room.

We all have a lovely, relaxing and enjoyable stay and can't wait to go again.

Amazing hotel lovely pool area

Just got home from here and can safely say had a wonderful time at this hotel. Best hotel I have stayed in on the island and would 100% come back. I have only a few minor bad words about it that really didn't bother me for the time I spent there with my girl friend.
(1) the air con in the room hardly works we were really hot most nights
(2) may sound funny but we found that the service in two restaurants way way to fast. I counted from the starter being taken away. to the main course coming out 1min 30seconds way to fast for my liking we had a 3 course meal in under 30mins
(3) one or two of the older men in the hotel not rude but very grumpy slamming drinks around (ex) one in the bar and 1 in the main restaurant. But pls these are minor things and would like to say thank you for a grate holiday 100% recommend this hotel to any1. We will be seeing you again :)

Good Family Holiday

There is very little parking available at this hotel and if hiring a car I would not even stay in this resort unless guaranteed a parking space as you could be walking miles once parked up. Air conditioning is not very good - perhaps it is ok in the winter months. If staying half board you have to pay for the use of the mini bar as it is locked up and you have to purchase all the contents. These are the negative comments.

Food is very good and much variety. Staff are pleasant and efficient apart from one receptionist. Lots of Spanish families were staying at the hotel and the behaviour of the children was pleasantly surprising. I would recommend this Hotel for families with children.

El alojamiento en general bueno, las instalaciones no eran muy nuevas, algunas necesitan restaurarse. El buffet completo y la calidad buena, en relación calidad-precio. La piscina genial, podías disponer de tumbona sin problema y con zonas de sol y sombra.
El parking un poco caro. La habitación normalita para un cuatro estrellas. La atención del personal muy buena. La conexión de horarios entre el bufete, bar piscina y bar hotel ha sido buena porque siempre podías disponer de algo abierto y eso se agradece, en el todo incluido.
La ubicación buenísima, céntrico para ir al mar, pasear y centro pueblo.
En general la estancia muy buena.

Todo increíble. Las instalaciones maravillosas, tranquilas, limpias y bonitas. El menú buffet bastante variado cada día. La atención del personal fue increíble por parte de todos, pero destacar el trabajo de las animadoras (Ale y Eri), siempre con una sonrisa en la cara y con toda la buena actitud. Y de los camareros, Moisés. Super amable, muy atento y un encanto de persona, cuidenlo bien :)

Eine schöne Anlage in zentraler Randlage. Die Promenade ist fussläufig erreichbar und lädt zum Spazieren ein. Das Personal ist hilfsbereit und höflich. Die Speisen sind gut und vielfältig. Die Einrichtung und die Zimmer könnten an manchen Stellen eine Renovierung vertragen, der aktuelle Zustand scheint aber landesüblich zu sein.

Nous avions choisi cet hotel pour ce service et il n'existe pas !! Extrêmement déçue par cette fausse information qui nous a coûté 2 places de funiculaire que l'on a pas pu faire :(

Meidät sijoitettiin ylimpään 17. kerrokseen, jonne ei päässyt hissillä, kulku oli remontissa olevan epämääräisen portaikon kautta.
Allasalue ihana ja tuulelta suojassa.
Aamiainen ok, mutta puoli hoidon illallinen rimanalitus. Kaikki lämmin ruoka oli lopussa klo 20, vaikka illallisaikaa oli vielä 2 h. Kokki ei tehnyt elettäkään täydentääkseen tyhjiä tarjoiluastioita. Jälkiruoat teollisia vanukkaita ja leivonnaisia.
En menisi toista kertaa tähän hotelliin.

The Hand Shower was broken, so you only can shower when sitting. The big pool was a bit heated, kids pool was freezing cold, not good for our 3 y o. The view from our room was perfekt. We had cockroaches in our room. The dinner was good for me, great salad buffet. But not for my husband, meat and main dishes were not good in quality and selection. To use the inside pool in the spa you need to pay 15€ per person a day. For one small pool the kid would use for maybe an hour, this is way too expensive. Didn’t expect to pay anything, not very attractive.
