The room was spacious and clean. The location was perfect. But the stars of my trip were the staff. They were so accommodating and kind. They booked my tour for me. They arranged transportation to and from airport. They even went to the pharmacy for me when I was injured. They left little treats in the room daily: hair tie, fruit, champagne, bath salts for NYE tradition, desserts. I will only stay there when I visit Rio.

To mention a few names of the people that helped me this stay on a daily basis: Rilary (at the front desk, she’s the best, give her a raise and a bonus); Ferreira, Lorenzo, Samuel, Amanda & Everton (at the rooftop, they served me on the daily, even had my preferences memorized, great service); Taisa, Elisa, & Mariana(at the spa, always so warm and helpful); and lastly Giselle (best masseuse in the house)!

My recent experience at Hotel Emiliano Rio de Janeiro was deeply disappointing and entirely inconsistent with the standard of excellence the establishment claims to offer.

During my stay, I encountered structural and sanitary conditions unacceptable for a hotel of this category, including:

-Strong mold odor throughout the room;
-Visible mold on the air-conditioning vents;
-A curtain that fell during the night, preventing adequate rest;
-Stained and unhygienic upholstery;
-A coffee table with a cracked marble top;
-A damaged bathroom floor, posing a physical safety risk to guests.

In addition, the hotel prohibited visitors from entering the guest room, citing an internal policy that was never presented at check-in. To this date, the hotel manager, have refused to provide a copy of the alleged document, despite my formal request.

It is important to highlight that the hotel itself authorized the entry of a professional from hair salon into my room on the day of check-in, which demonstrates inconsistency and contradiction in applying this rule, constituting a violation of the principle of good faith.

View from the rooftop pool/bar is incredible! Great place to spend a few days in Rio. Plus if you want to go to Ipanema beach it is an easy walk of about 5 blocks. This is not a 5 star hotel. And not well maintained. Check in time is at 3 pm we were given a room 2 hours 40 minutes latee asked why no reply. One elevator is out of order for some time were told a spare part needed must he brought from Germany so it is not working for sometime and the 2 others have an erratic behavior not to mention the delay in goimg up and down ( up to 9 minutes) we had a suite the balcony door was stuck and deemed impossible to repair by the staff, toilet was Japanese electric terrible noise for a long time after. Not once was the mikibar refilled. We were charged a 2nd time the room charge staff told us per expedia payment should be done on check in they apologized on check out their mistake still waiting for the credit to arrive. Staff not smiling or greeting guests entering they orefer to talk to each other even at the reception. Food mediocre. No this is not a 5 star experience

The hotel is clean and staff are prompt and friendly. The view of Copacabana from the room and roof deck are breathtaking. We had a few issues in our bathroom with fixtures coming loose off the wall. We called and they had it fixed immediately. Upon checkout I found it odd they added another room’s bar charge to my room’s bill. When I questioned it at checkout, the front desk associate asked if they, the other room’s guests, were my friends. Was odd to me given the receipt clearly had someone else’s name and room number on it yet the desk somehow was implying I had some responsibility to pay for it. Took a few minutes to clear that up with them.

It’s a very nice hotel, but old and needs a lot of maintenance. They have a general problem with electricity not working properly. We walked into our room, TV was working. As soon as my husband put his phone into USB outlet, all electricity in room turned off. We called maintenance, they came right away, but after 30 min fixing wires, I asked if we can be moved to another room. It took another hour for them to find another room, eventhough the hotel was very empty. Instead of getting an upgrade for our inconvenience, they put us in exact same room on different floor. New rom was under maintenance and door to bathroom did not close, but since we are a couple we didn’t care. Electricity worked at the time!!! But throughout our 3 night stay, we discovered that only 1 of 3 USB plugs worked and there were other electrical issues. Lights turned off/on by themselves. Twice they turned off while I was in the shower - all the lights in the entire room/bathroom. Then in the middle of the night they turned on by themselves - twice first night and once second night. The other issue was the AC vent at the top of the room which kept dripping on the floor and left puddles.

Breakfast was excellent, huge selection, excellent service. Be prepared that the front desk staff are a bunch of kids in very strange unisex beige outfits. They smile but barely speak English. The hotel is in a good section of Copacabana beach, toward the end near Ipanema. They have a section of beach with lounge chairs

The staff is friendly and everything is clean. Breakfast isn’t cheap, but it’s very good. However, the overall condition of the hotel raises some concerns. I remember it opening just a few years ago, and given its location and style, I imagine it must be extremely expensive and challenging to maintain. Unfortunately, the quality of the finishings and upkeep already seems to be declining.

Overall, Emiliano Rio was a major disappointment which honestly ruined my experience in Rio. Upon arriving, I was told that early check in was not available, and that I’d be contacted when a room was available (never happened - I had to go back and inquire over 3 hours later). During the time I was waiting for a room, I was instructed to go to the rooftop bar and sat for 20 minutes before a waiter approached me. Meanwhile, others (that clearly didn’t look like me) were attended to almost immediately. The bar area is quite small, and had at least 6-7 waiters, most of them sitting at the bar talking to one another. It isn’t hard to miss customers as they come in. Based on that experience, I decided not to purchase anything else from the hotel. But the worst part about this hotel is that THE ROOMS HAVE MOLD IN THEM WHICH IS JUST ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE!! The rooms also have this wet moldy, water damaged smell, which is ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE!! When I brought this to the attention of the hotel, they did absolutely nothing, and shrugged it off in a very condescending manner. Mold affects health - How can you call yourself a luxury hotel with such disgusting and poor conditions? I can’t believe people come here and pay thousands of dollars for nothing - I would never waste my time or money here again!

Great stay at Emiliano. Service was very good, attentive staff and able to accommodate our requests. The room was comfortable and impressive enough. Highlights were the bluetooth audio system in the ceiling and the powerful, consistent and hot shower. The room also had good soundproofing as with the balcony sealed we couldn't hear any noise from Copacabana beach. Small touches like the complimentary flip flops and the birthday cake were nice. The massages we got from the on-site spa were exceptional! Only issue we had during our stay was that the sink was fairly blocked.

From arrival at the Emiliano Rio, the staff was courteous, accommodating, and helpful. Special shout outs to Brandon, Leon, Fonseco, and Hugo. Brandon at the front desk concierge was helpful in securing a prime restaurant reservation, and transportation/tickets for visiting Christ the Redeemer. Leon welcomed us and gave a great tour of the hotel upon our arrival. Fonseco also welcomed us and was just an all-around joy. Hugo was incredible helpful at the beach and the hotel's beach service was stellar. Wonderful and restful trip. Much more than just a beautiful hotel, the staff takes the Emiliano to another level. Great boutique hotel in an amazing area. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Pool area is nice but really small with only a few chairs. Pool food could have been a lot better drinks were good. I had a room with a balcony the room was a great size with ample space to hang clothes and toiletries. The shower temperature and water pressure was perfect. The repairs in the shower must have been done by a blind person. Really poorly done. Overall I would stay again and would recommend to others.

I stayed at Janeiro, Fasano and Emiliano on this trip and Emiliano was by far the best. The food was incredible and beautifully presented, the welcome gifts were thoughtful (and this was the only hotel that paid attention to the fact that I couldn’t eat gluten) and the staff were the best and friendliest. The rooms are gorgeous and well designed and the pool is amazing, they even provide sunscreen. Next time I will only stay at Emiliano!

Don't look elsewhere for low profile 5 star! All the staff wears converse, come to breakfast in bikini and get 5 star service if you like! You can breath in the 2 story plant wall restaurant and library. Oceanfront and beach staff with cold water umbrella and towel draped chaise waiting for YOU! You can get room service and cocktails on the beach! Rooftop pool. We initially booked another 5 star and when we pulled up - wow, the security was in believable and intimidating. Not at the Emilio! I felt at home and super low key. The Emiliano is the end of copa close tithe Fairmont. Highly recommend.

The Emiliano hotel has a big reputation in Brazil; I knew it from São Paulo, so I stayed in Rio because of that. The hotel is very nice; it was designed by the architect Arthur Casas (whom I'm particularly a fan of), but the hotel operator definitely doesn't live up to the architect's name. The service is much inferior; it almost feels like a 4-star hotel. They have good food, but overall, it's poor service. I booked a relatively ‘cheap’ internal room; we had thought about staying in an Ocean view room, but luckily, we didn't because it cost twice as much. I wouldn't have felt good paying so much money for this hotel, really.

Walk across the street to cococabana beach and short walk to Impena beach. The views from the pool were amazing. There were some fabulous (and cheap) restaurants right outside the door of the hotel.The breakfast at the hotel was very expensive and not worth it in my opinion.

Lovely stay, heavenly place. Great staff. My only issue was the room was called a \"King Courtyard.\" It's very expensive, so I was really disappointed to see it's just a regular room (albeit a nice one) with an ugly view. The hotel does not even have a courtyard! I complained and Bruna from Guest Experiences was very kind. This name should be changed because it is false advertising. The location at the end of Copacabana next to Ipanema is great. Octavio on the amazing rooftop restaurant was also very charming. All in all a great stay.

I didn’t know Emiliano existed , but our friends from Sao Paolo recommended. We were smitten. The ambiance , the suite , the culinary delight, the decor , the view from the rooftop, the service , the location! We loved it so much we switched our reservation at Sao Paolo for another Emiliano. The hotel is incredibly beautiful. The rooms and the roof make full use of the stretch of copacabana it faces. The restaurant is nice and included breakfast more generous than expected. My only complaint was not receiving the room upgrade upon checkin despite the room type showing available. But we loved the room we booked.

Exceptional services. We originally booked our stay for 3 days and extend to a week we have returned 3 weeks later for one night. I was unwell and through their amazing concierge services i got a doctor visit booked in 2 hours and the reception handled the medication to be collected from the pharmacy and sent to my room in less than an hour. Will definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful luxury boutique hotel. It has everything that you need for a perfect stay: great service, perfect location, amazing facilities and a team that will go above and beyond to help! Thank you Emiliano team!!

We got to the hotel super early they let us clean ourselves up in the spa area before our room was ready and they checked us in at 10a which was great since we had such a long flight from the US. Room was amazing, view was amazing, food (breakfast and room service) was amazing, staff was hospitable for the most part. The pool is small (and heated!) but great views over looking the beach. It’s located at the quieter end of the beach, they offer complementary umbrellas and chairs and the beach attendant was super cool he had sunscreen and water for us as well. The toilets in the room are heated (which I definitely think is worth mentioning). The shower was roomy and powerful. Overall it was great. The only issue I had was the comforter and towels had stains on them, which was off putting. I knew they were washed and clean, but I still didn’t like that. Overall, I still think it’s the best hotel on the strip and I recommend it because you won’t find anything better.

The hotel does not honour the Expedia VIP Access package. When I arrived, they would not upgrade to the next level, even though they were still selling rooms in the next category. They made up excuses, and tried to charge me for the upgrade, so eventually I ended up staying in the same category I booked. The late check-out which was also part of the Expedia offer, also never happened.

The reception staff are arrogant and not welcoming at all. Most of them won’t even look at you when you come to the desk. They talk to you while looking at the PC screen. Everyone makes you feel that you should be grateful that you are allowed to stay at the Emiliano.

One of the show pieces of the hotel is the infinity pool on the top floor. Unfortunately when I arrived it was covered with scaffolding. This was later replaced with another structure, which covered the entire area with a transparent plastic roof. If you ever wondered how it feels to be baked, then please spend some time on the roof of the Emiliano Hotel. None of the construction work was of course mentioned anywhere on the Expedia website. You will only find out when you get there.

This hotel is made for clients who want to be seen and show off, who don’t care about practicalities and hospitality. You can get some great Instagram pictures out of the Emiliano, but it does not reflect the quality of the stay.

My suggestion, stay somewhere else. There are better and more friendly 5 star hotels in Rio.
