Quiet hotel in the hills next to Heidelberg. Old city center only 10 minutes away. Nice place to slow down and relax. No AC in room, so very warm if it’s hot outside. Staff very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was superb. Typical German breakfast offerings, so don’t expect eggs and bacon or beans and sausages.

Lovely hotel. Room was spacious and well appointed. We had a double with extra seating area on the 4th floor with great view. AC was great with temps outside in the 80’s. Breakfast was delicious and the staff charming and attentive. Would live to stay there again.

The hotel is quite good, family ambient. Just few remarks
Breakfast so-so, no warm food (eggs, bacon). We found a better one downtown.
Not true that parking is free. There are only few spots in the hotel, so I had to park outside, and it was difficult to find spot any ways.
The access is difficult if u don't like to drive in mountains. Finally, I asked an extension of 1h on my checkout and I didn't get it.
But generally good hotel, I would come back. Good room, beautiful views, supportive staff, fridge with refreshments! Good for families!

This is a quaint, German style hotel high up on the hill near the Heidelburg Castle (20 minute walk). Check in was very pleasant. The room was very, very quiet with all the amenities we needed. The drive up and down is a little tricky, but fun! There are 4 tight parking spots in the lot but there is parking a few feet away on the street and it's free!

Good location up on the hill, short walking distance to the castle and old town center (even the over 300 steps getting up the hill were enjoyable). Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel (separate building) itself is pretty tired and could do with an upgrade. A pick up shuttle service on demand from the train station would be very convenient even for an extra charge.

Very Charming!

This is a very charming hotel! We got there a little early and they were able to let us into our room! This is a huge help after you have been traveling for over 10 hours! A very walkable distance to Heidelberg Castle and Old Town. The breakfast was also very delicious.

Charming hotel, very quiet.

Many complain about the walk from this hotel. We found it quite pleasant and scenic. It's an easy walk to the castle, where you can then catch the funicular to town. Just be aware of the closing time of the funicular if you do not want to walk all the way back. We missed it, but didn't mind. Only the very first part of the walk was steep, but not long. We found being away from town to be very peaceful and allowed for an excellent nights sleep.

Storybook settting with great views and staff!

We went there for my wife's 40th birthday and the Christmas markets. The staff was very nice and helpful. The double room was huge with great views looking out over the river and hills, with a very peaceful and romantic setting. Would definitely recommend if you like quiet settings with trees and classic German setting. Heidelberg area does not have rideshare services, so overpriced taxi's to get around town or about a 25 min walk to the Christmas markets. Renting a car would probably be a good idea for this hotel.

The hotel was comfortable and in a very quiet neighborhood. However we did not know that there were no restaurants near the hotel. Bus service to and from the hotel was only available Monday through Friday. We weren't aware of any of this and we did not have a car so were stuck at the hotel on Saturday unless we could get a taxi. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again for these reasons.

Hotel advises that they have free parking - very misleading as the hotel only has 4 parking spaces. As you are outside of town and having stage 4 cancer it was too far for me to walk into the town so needed the car, this meant that there were no spaces available upon our return. There is an option to park between 5pm and 9am in a business car park but you have to move to the street early in the morning (6:30am) to get a space! Also I paid my bill upon arrival, upon departure I was told that I hadn’t paid! My invoice resolved this but was then charged for another days breakfast which I had expected to have paid upon arrival. Due to my ill health WiFi is important for my family - the room we stayed in had a very poor WiFi signal. We only stayed for two nights, had we stayed longer it would have been very disappointing.

Nice clean hotel outside Heidelberg Old Town on top of a mountain. Was hard to drive there. There is nothing around the area and is very quiet. A bus takes you into town and if stay late cabs charge about 10 euros from the Old Town.

Nice quiet location. Roomy bedroom, water pressure in shower very good - a must in a hotel! Perfect for visiting scloss and altstadt but get a taxi back I feel you aren't young and/or fit. Kettle for making a hot drink however some coffe and more than 1 teabag would have helped. Some minor repairs required but a lovely period place all the same.

Good hotel within walking distance of the palace

The hotel was fine, lovely quiet area.. My room (#8, 2nd floor) had a steel staircase right in front of the window. Pity, because the whole area is a huge forest. There were actually two such staircases, so other rooms had them too. Parking is convenient, either within the grounds (3 cars) or right opposite. The staff are excellent, very nice and helpful. Thanks, everyone! The hotel has no restaurant but serves snacks in the lovely breakfast room.

Great location but the roads to the hotel are a little steep, narrow and twisting. Although the house is old the accommodation is very modern and very comfortable. Great garden for sitting out on a sunny evening with cold wine and beer at reasonable prices. Short walk to impressive Heidelberg castle and to the old town with lots of restaurants - need a taxi back (unless young & fit) but only 11 euro. Staff very helpful, efficient & friendly. 100% recommended. .

The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful to attend to our needs. The rooms and bathrooms were very spacious and well appointed. The shuttle bus was useful to get into town. Access to our rooms was down a flight of stairs which meant that we had to carry our heavy cases down a flight of stairs - this could have been improved by allowing us to use an alternative door to bring our luggage in and out - this door was locked and seemed difficult to open

This hotel is in the suburbs of Heidelberg, about 20 minutes walk from the old town. Tip for evening meals - walk or get the number 30 bus down (18.17 / 19.17, €2.50) and get a taxi back (€11-13). Hotel is slightly dated and has no aircon but makes up for this with friendly staff and massive, clean rooms.

Staff very attentive & helpful in changing our room when wifi access wasn't possible in the original room (a 'dead zone' on the bottom floor in the middle two rooms).

Because of the location, away from the old town in a residential area in the hills, a 15 min walk from access to the castle, you really need to have a car to stay here. Otherwise you will be spending mo ey on taxis or time waiting for buses.

Great hotel, not far from everything as the crow flies. Going down into town was doable but up was a cab ride. Bus service was available but stopped at 7:30 and not on weekends. Cabs were about $20 each way. Breakfast was good, but breads were stale by the second day.

We chose to drive downtown because we have a two year old child with us. The view from our room was amazing. The room was perfect for our needs. Very clean, and pleasant atmosphere. The hotel is an inn. It is a 19th century home with an added annex. It is in a wealthy neighborhood overlooking the castle and old town. The room were updated about 30 years ago and are in former upstairsr bedrooms that look into the tree canopy of the property. The rooms are comfortable, staff are hospitable and breakfast is simple German hospitality.

We were very pleased with our room, it was spacious and the balcony offered great views and a relaxing atmosphere. We are very thankful to the friendly staff who were very accomodating despite our very late arrival. The proximity to Heidelberg castle was a great plus. The floors creaked a little but it's part of the character and charm of such a beautiful building. We highly recommend this place.

My family and I spent one night here. The overall surroundings are beautiful with great mountain view. It seems like we are living in the scenery. Plus, the breakfast is delicious. The room is really big with a chimney in the middle.

But the downside is the location. It's far away from the altstat centre. We came from Basel. When we got off the train, there's no public transport to that location. We have to take the taxi there. It's on the top of mountain and it took almost 20 minutes to get there. But the hotel home page describes "0.5 miles". It's a misleading message!!!

The hotel has a good staff, helpful and friendly. The location is relatively close to the castle, but expect to get some exercise getting there and back if you walk. It also requires driving/walking up a pretty steep hill to get from the main downtown area. The hotel does offer a solid breakfast.

Beautiful hotel, nice room, excellent staff. Everything was great except for a couple things. Parking was on the very narrow street and there was nowhere close to eat dinner. Did not want to drive up and down that mountain to go anywhere once we got a good parking spot , so we had to order takeout. The man at the reception desk was nice enough to order for us, since we only speak English. Otherwise, a great place to stay.

Nice homey hotel. No elevator so long walk to 3rd floor with luggage but we did get help. We left too early for breakfast and they reduced our rate which was nice. Parking was easy. Very nice residential type area. It was hot and they provided fans. Refrig in room which was great for keeping our water cool.

Good hotel, great attention and service

The hotel was as expected, given it's in Europe and the price range. As usual for this range of hotels, breakfast is the only meal served. There's no room service. They do provide slippers in the rooms (other hotels in Germany in this price class do not). The lady at reception was very friendly and helped us call the police (we dinged our rental car while parking and needed to file a police report).

Which brings me to the big issue - there is very little parking at the hotel. You can park at the Carl Bosch museum across the street (the hotel people are supposed to have the key).

Second issue - we stayed at the hotel in the second week of August, 2015 - where afternoon temperatures in Germany hit 35+ degrees Celsius - and there's no airconditioning or supplemental cooling.

Third issue - for anyone who hasn't been to Heidelberg, Google Maps look deceptively flat, but the Park Atlantic is actually up in the foothills above Heidelberg Castle, making a walk to the castle (or town) a major undertaking. But you have a car! parking within Heidelberg's Old Town is very problematic (I had good luck parking at the Hotel Europa downtown, a considerable 2km walk to the Rathaus).

Beautiful Remote Setting...

The property is in a great location if you have a car or are willing to hike wherever you go. It is near the castle and is in an upscale residential neighborhood. The setting is quiet and beautifully forested. There are many hiking trails nearby and is away from the city. The morning buffet breakfast was excellent.

When at the castle, there is a funicular that goes between the castle and the old town and university area which is very convenient and relatively inexpensive.

The property itself was comfortable and the staff very nice and accommodating. The room was very well furnished and the bathroom large. There was no apparent air-conditioning in the room (at least we could not find a thermostat control). Parking is a bit limited on the property, but there is some street parking near the hotel.

Great hotel stay

Wonderful rooms and location. This hotel was out of the city, up on the hill close to Heidelberg Castle. Was great not to be in the business of the city for a bit. Rooms, staff, and breakfast were all well received. Would book again in a heart beat.

Great hotel close to the castle

Interesting hotel. Older but very cool. It had a sleek 1960's vibe.Lots of nice amenities. The location was great--posh neighbourhood above the castle grounds within easy walking distance of the castle gardens. The room was great and there were lots of nice touches, like slippers. Breakfast was good. Parking was limited but in a pinch they will give you a key for the parking lot of the small museum across the street. But who needs a car with a location like this? The castle is very close and it is a stimulating walk to the town.

Nice Hotel in beautiful garden

Everything was great except for having to wait outside until 2 PM until room was ready. The bathrooms are very basic and small.
The garden was beautiful and the staff was helpful.

Close to the castle and a short trip down to the town. Great view and really nice people. I would stay again without worries.
