This is a family run, first class hotel. The staff are efficient and friendly. The guest rooms we had were just first rate. A suite is really a suite. You cannot buy or manufacture old world European charm and hospitality. At this property these qualities are 4 generations in the making. This hotel never disappoints. Well, what's not to like about the Europäischer Hof? It is simply a luxurious hotel with a Michelin restaurant. Everything about the hotel was super. And, it should be for the price. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was beautiful. We arrived on Christmas Eve and had a fixed course to menu Christmas Eve dinner in their restaurant. It was scrumptious. The service was outstanding, the food was divine, and the setting was perfect. I can't think of one complaint that I would have about this property.

The hotel staff are amazing and the lobby area is beautiful and care and attention has been paid to every detail. The rooms are old but comfortable. The air conditioning in our room did not work so the room was very warm at night. Also, although the room was very clean the drapery near the ceiling in the living room had a large spider web that had not been cleaned. The bar staff (Felix in particular) are amazing, helpful and very friendly. You cannot beat the location of this hotel. My family and I will definitely be back.

For starters it was difficult because of the language barrier. First European city that we had this problem. The hotel is old, even though there does appear to be many upgrades. We had to go up and down a few steps with our bags which was not easy.
Our room felt warm and stuffy and in trying to communicate we understood there was no AC. It has been raining here for days, so the humidity and thick air was uncomfortable.
The open window helped cool the room off but there was a terrible odor the whole evening that was a combination of dampness and an awful smell of possibly food cooking.
To further make things miserable after a long travel day was the fact that our room overlooked the front door and was noisy…..probably mostly due to the open window. The very loud Ferrari that enjoyed racing his engine in the driveway right after we finally fell asleep did not help.

Wonderful Historic Hotel in Heidelberg
The attention to detail is impressive at this beautiful old hotel. Apparently it is the only family owned large hotel in Heidelberg and the fact that we met the owners when wandering the halls, shows their involvement, along with the manager who frequents each breakfast. The location is very convenient and it is a very special and charming place to stay.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Europäischer Hof Heidelberg for one night on our way through Heidelberg to see the Christmas markets. It was a fantastic experience, and I recommend this hotel to everyone! The rooms were so cozy and the beds so comfortable, that I honestly wanted to be in the room more than at the Christmas market! The linens were so soft and the personal duvets were delightful. We had a positive experience with every employee, and after encountering downright rude employees in other German hotels (yes, I'm American!), it was refreshing to be somewhere where everyone was extremely pleasant and kind. We got a drink at the bar and breakfast room service, so I feel like we saw many facets of the hotel. It definitely earns its five star rating!

I reserved a double room, I did not expect 2 twin beds pushed together with a crack in the center. Also, the bed was hard as a rock, pillows with zero neck support and a bathtub with “ jets” that did not work.

The management and staff was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure my husband and his dad had a great birthday and that we were taken care of. Beautiful hotel that has charm and is comfortable with friendly and welcoming staff. You can see that the hotel was once top notch but I think some modern upgrades would be well worth it. The hairdryer in the bathroom for example is super old and therefore not great. The beds lift up to individual comfort which was fun but under the bed was extreme amounts of dust, an old face mask, and chocolates which means they haven’t been cleaned in a long time. That was disappointing to see. Also the spa staff was not available for a massage on our last day but perhaps one needs to request a booking earlier. The food in the bar was great! And again, the staff was probably our favorite “feature” from the welcome, to the bar staff, pool staff and the departure as well. The pool was cool and my little one had fun swimming. The sauna was relaxing. Overall our stay was nice and comfortable but not exceptional for the small details. Beautifully decorated for the holidays!!

This was our second time staying at the Europaischer Hof and it was wonderful once again! This stay was 7 nights visiting from the United States with our family of 5. The connecting rooms we had were very comfortable and everything about this hotel is first-class! The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Easy walking distance from hotel to many cute cafes and close to the downtown area for shopping, etc. The dining and bar area at hotel were also lovely. We will for sure be back on our next trip to visit our German family in Heidelberg!

Nice hotel, but over-priced for the standard to be honest. I asked for firm pillows, they didn't arrive as expected, so had to ask again on our return from a night out. They took over 10 minutes to arrive. I hate having to climb into a bath to take a shower, even more so when there is no slip protection or handles to support you - very dangerous and needs to be changed. The shutters on the windows are electric, but you have to stand for 90 seconds holding the switch down - this is poor and easily rectified. Otherwise the room was comfortable and staff very pleasant. I didn't appreciate that we couldn't use the Spa facilities due to Corona restrictions, but this wasn't reflected in the pricing. Parking and breakfast were also both extra and very expensive.

We truly enjoyed our time at Hotel Europaischer. It is nicely situated in close proximity to tourist sites, and private. The customer service is superb. They have a great breakfast buffet. Housekeeping did a great job. Being an over 150 year old property, some of the rooms are understandably a bit outdated, but well maintained. It is clear the hotel is reinvesting into the property to stay up to date.

We love this hotel! We travel to Heidelberg regularly for medical treatment not available in the U.S. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff could not be more accommodating. They have arranged seamless private transportation for us to and from the Frankfurt airport and have made us feel welcome and at home during our stays. A true 5 Star!

I had to dig to find a few less positive things to point out, however. I had a single room, which was extremely comfortable, but rather small. The bed occupied the middle, and the room didn't allow space for one to watch TV from the chair. The modern bathroom had virtually no counter space -- OK for this guy, but probably not very nice for a female traveler. But overall, those are trivial complaints. I hope to come back some day!

The hotel is okay. The staff was friendly and the Bar area was beautiful. Unfortunately, there were cleaning supplies everywhere you walked by, the outside restaurant area is by the parking lot and entrance to the hotel, and the location is right at the edge outside of the main square.

we were driving and the hotel was easy to find, always a good start. parked right outside...the room was lovely, the staff couldn't have been more friendly and dinner was excellent. we probably stayed up rather too late in the bar with other guests...........
