The apartment has no elevator. We stayed at 3rd floor and was hard to carry heavy luggage to it. The AC is not cool at all. I don't recommend the 3rd floor living especially during the hot summer due to AC inefficiency.

This is a good one if you want the resort vibes on a lower budget - I absolutely loved the pools. Room and common areas are clean and well-maintained, staff were very friendly, and easy parking. One caveat is that the railway track backs on to the property, so a train horn may wake you up if you're planning on a midday nap, but if you're only sleeping at night it will be fine. Recommend, would book again.

The facilities were very good, just what we required and close to shopping. Slight distance to esplanade but not an issue to walk.
Lives the swimming pool, we had a problem with our hot water cylinder and staff responded immediately and sorted same day.

This is my 3rd time staying at Southern Cross Atrium. Great location - walking distance to shopping centre, train, bus and Esplanade/Marina. Units are always very clean and kitchen and bathroom are well equipped. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The 3 pools are wonderful. My only 'complaint' is that a sauna is advertised but it is never operational.

Room was clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet. The location was really great. Really liked this place and would stay again.
However, we were only given one very small shampoo for two people for 6 days and while they did give us more when we asked they gave us a hard time about it stating they are un serviced rooms. They should either state NO toiletries in their rooms or give enough for the number of people and number of nights. Unserviced is misleading you to think it is only a lack of housekeeping. So a bit of a turn-off there. Also sauna is not working with no signs that there are efforts to fix it. Too bad as that was one reason we booked the place.

Great location very close to Cairns Central Shopping Centre and the Cairns Railway Station. It was also 3 blocks or so to the museum, art gallery and the night market. Rooms were spotless, with a super comfy bed. We enjoyed our morning tea with all the essentials.

Property was perfect for us as we needed 2 connecting rooms. Property Manager was great as he was always there to help ordering a Cab when Ubers cancelled trips. Kids loved the option of 3 pools. Great aircon and fans in rooms. Would definatley stay again.

I loved staying here. Very close to everything, even a mall next door with grocery stores. Easy walk to the esplanade. Except for nighttime hours there was always someone available to assist....sometimes even before I asked. They fixed a power problem immediatly and quickly arranged a cab for the airport.

I did love it here. The room was very comfortable, clean and with great view of the pool. This hotel is situated in a great part of the city, very close to the shops and transport.
Two things that I found not ideal was 1: the position of the smoking section. It is situated on the walking path. 2: exiting the pool and spa I found quite difficult and I am able bodied. There needs to be extra not so high steps and bars to grip as exiting the pool and spa.

It was a lot minute booking for me as I hag a problem with my original hotel stay. This worked out well and it was clean and most convenient. Not may restaurants near by especially for dinner otherwise it worked out well for me.

Its well located walking distance to the local shopping mall for and bit an peices. Walking distance to alot of the local attractions. Rustys markets and night markets good place to try so many differnt foods from around the world. Highly Recomended

We liked: pleasant receptionist and very helpful night manager Scotty. Location was okay, close to Shopping center, first floor, 15 minutes' walk to marina, We enjoyed fresh towels and bed cloth.

We didn't like: The Day time manager that has shown absolutely Zero empathy, when on the very rainy day we asked for a late check out for my 91y.o. mother, so she could just rest in bed for 3-4 hours before our way to airport..It was very stressful conversation, I was in tears, and, at the end, we paid $60 for late check out. We found that man as being greedy and inconsiderate.
Also, the shower didn't work, it was almost impossible to get warm water, it was cold or hot only.
And, the cleaning in the middle of our 7 night's stay wasn't done properly, they just changed beds and placed a new bin liner inside the empty bin. The floor wasn't mopped.
We won't recommend this place.

We chose a 1 bedroom deluxe apartment & it was compact but very clean & good self contained apartment with everything we needed.
Big kitchen with large fridge, but no indoor eating table. Retiled new shower, washing machine, dryer in bathroom (timer wasn’t working & only hot cycle worked), comfortable queen size bed. Outdoor patio leading into nice pool area with good size dining table. It’s very close to Cairns Central Shopping Centre
It is a dark apartment so have to have lights on. It isn’t sound proof so outside noises can be heard as well as some noises in other apartments & door between bathroom & bedroom is bifold so noises can be heard. It’s quite noisy in mornings with comings & going’s but generally quiet other times & security gates close at. 9.30 pm so quieter at night. The pools/spa were not heated The Kuranda rail line runs at back & it is near a main road

Complaint would be the wireless internet and the streaming device on the TV in our room was constantly dropping out and the internet was terrrible. Only other issue I was on crutches and we were placed on the top floor and there are no lifts this meant that we could not go out as planned due to this issue. The apartment was nice clean and well maintained just the above let it down.

We did not know there was no elevator for the apartment. We had a lot of luggage and I just had a knee replacement so the stairs were an inconvenience. The apartment was very muggy even with the a/c on. It was conveniently located for what we needed.

The property is very dated and in need of a Reno. The mattress was damaged and the springs made a twanging noise every time I got in and out of bed. The lady at reception showed no interest in fixing it. The lady at reception treated customers as though they were an inconvenience to her day. Some garbage truck came in and clanged and had its reversing noise on shortly after 6:00am every other day. After electing not to pre-pay the apartment tried to charge my credit card anyway. The pools were ok but squashed in between apartment blocks and therefore never saw sunlight and therefore were cold.

Japanese receptionist was very gentle and kind. The room is clean and tidy. Everything you need is prepared. Shopping center is next to the hotel so we enjoyed cooking and had breakfast and dinner at the balcony using stand light. Not gorgeous but enough to do everything.

Great location and facilities, just a bit dated. From 2024 to 2025, they have updated the tv set up. Shopping centre is a 2 min walk and centre of town takes 5 mins, prominade about 10 mins. Has a set of three pools where only one is heated. Great for the hot days!! Cooking facilities are always good. Always our go to.

loved this apartment, had everything i needed for my weeks stay and cooking. microwave, stove and large fridge, toaster and kettle and the balcony is spacious , i had a nice pool view and could enjoy the peaceful sunsets. secure complex with plenty of parking.
loved the pool area, 3 pools and multiple jacuzzis and BBQs and plenty of seating. the gym was a bonus, 4 cardio machines and some dumbells and other small equipment. the on-site store has essentials and cold drinks if needed.

the mall is across the road so coles/bws/woollies all on your door step and only 10 mins walk to the esplanade.

only down side was my block room was close to the main road making lots of traffic noise late /super early on working days which even ear plugs couldnt block. there are also many trees on the site attracting noisy birds!

would definitely return when back in cairns

We arrived in Cairns by train and the apartments are a stone's through from the main station and the shopping mall. It's also just a 15 minute walk from the quayside with many great restaurants and is the gateway to exploring the Great Barrier Reef. The swimming pool (beside the BBQ area) was a welcome relief on thos hot sticky days.

Fantastic self contained apartments!

My husband & I booked in at the last minute for 5 nights due to a change in plans as a result of the cyclone in Brisbane. Very pleasantly surprised with the studio apartment - very clean & modern & had everything we needed, including kitchenette and washer/dryer. Great value for money too. Only a 15-20min walk to the esplanade (we walk fairly quick!) & right next door to Coles supermarket (5mins walk max!).

Pools were lovely albeit it the sun bed area was quite small and didn’t leave much room for being able to walk past!

Only negative was that the gyms air con didn’t work and given the heat & humidity in cairns, there was no way I could work out without aircon!

It was very close to shopping center and about a 15 minute walk to the the waterfront. Very walkable area and close to restaurents. Cost to airport was about $20 using Uber. It was a bit older property but still met our needs of doing laundry and walking around Cairns to go on tours.

For a budget hotel the property is excellent value. It may not be in the best area of Cairns but we felt completely safe and it is handy for the town and train station.
The staff are friendly and check in is very easy. We stayed there for 2 nights with-a break in between, the first room was a bit tired looking but was clean with good facilities in the room. The second night the room was excellent and had obviously had a makeover although the shower pressure was very low. We would recommend as a value for money hotel.

The area was quiet, lovely pool and very close to amenities. There was only a little bit of noise when the train went past but that wasn’t through the night so not a problem. Pool could have done with some umbrellas to provide some shade as not really any natural shade throughout the day. The staff were a little rude, when reporting an issue with the TV I was met with a little attitude from a staff member. But other than that the place itself was perfect.
