The breakfast has so many delicious options! It’s not your usual continental breakfast. They go above and beyond. The staff are all friendly and very accommodating. We have stayed there 3 times and always look forward to seeing the staff. They must be doing something right to keep the staff. Love having the chairs and umbrellas. Would definitely recommend.

Breakfast was included and had everything you could want from eggs and bacon and sausage to cheeses meat and fruit. Staff was so helpful. Food is amazing in this area and plenty to choose from within a quick walk. Beach view was beautiful. Water was clear. Room was amazing with beautiful views from the spacious balcony. We’ve stayed all over the world and this place is one of our favorites.

The things we most like about La Playa are the staff, the director access to the beach with chairs and umbrella provided, a great breakfast provided free of charge every morning including eggs, bacon, bread, fresh fruit, fruit juices, and coffee, and the room. Great place to stay. We book there every year.

La Playa is a beautiful beach front resort on the French side of St Maarten. Our second time here and love it. The resort is great , Elena, GP, Alexandra and the rest of the staff are very welcoming and attentive. Breakfast is included and lots of options to choose from. Highly recommend for a relaxing get away on a beautiful beach and Island.

We arrived before check-in and was greeted very warmly. We were told we could use the beach chairs or have lunch while we waited for our room and they would text us when the room was ready. They did not text us as promised but we had promptly gone to the front desk at 4pm and were given our room key (so the room had been ready but we weren't contacted).
The main hostess at the restaurant was not very friendly with us. She literally ignored me for more than 5 minutes while I waited to reserve a table for lunch, walking by me several times ignoring multiple \"Excuse Me\"'s that I said to her. Americans who are used to saying Hello as a formal greeting rather than the European Good Morning or Good Day will be received coldly.
The beach allows smoking, so anyone sitting downwind from a smoker will have their fresh sea air ruined with cigarette smoke. We aren't sure why there isn't a smoking section since it seems it would be easy to accommodate. Of course, this leads to cigarette butts being littered all over the beach. Gross!
Our room was very clean and the front area staff were great.
The bathroom is an open, Italian style shower concept with no glass, so water gets everywhere when you shower. Mild annoyance.
The village is just minutes away walking and offered great food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overall, it was a great stay.

Hotel itself was nice and clean, great location right on the beach. We liked the kitchinette with the fridge, had an issue with staff not providing coffee capsules daily, as they should. There was a lot of sea weed, sargassum, on the beach and in the water which wasn't cleaned every day.

Don't hesitate to get your reservation in place because you'll have a great time at La Playa. The location is amazing, with the beach being just steps away from comfortable accommodations. The staff is friendly, the bar at the beach was outstanding, and the morning breakfasts were a great way to start our days.

Very good location. Good access to restaurants for dinner and beach bars for lunch. Breakfast was fine.

Rooms are clean. Water is not drinkable and sometimes smells. Property is very strict, only 1 espresso pod per person per night. Only one beach towel and it needs to be exchanged via towel card. Also no outside food or drinks on the beach chairs.

The ocean view rooms, ocean view is marjinal.

My wife and I have travelled a great deal. We spent 6 days at La Playa - I am not sure they could have been any better. From easy, friendly check-in, amazing beach with lots of chairs and umbrellas, a FANTASTIC breakfast, and a great bar/wonderful lunch choices...and right next door to amazing restaurants and a grocery store. This place is a 10. Katy runs an amazing property and we can't wait to go back.

The hotel location is excellent to walk everywhere - beach, restaurants, shops. The staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable, especially Elena. The room was spacious, clean and had everything you need for a relaxing beach vacation. The breakfast is improved from last year and has more options to choose from. I’m writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with how my room request was handled during my recent stay. I requested a higher-floor room in early September, but I was assigned a first-floor room instead. When I raised this at check-in, I was told the team was “busy” and nothing could be done.
This is not acceptable, especially given the advance notice provided. As a result, I will not be returning.

The rooms are clean and the beach is decent. I think they take the beach every few days but there tends to be a lot of seaweed build up. Our main issue was the breakfast. They say it goes until 10am but all days we were there they ran out of things like pancakes at 8:30am and said they would not make more. How can you offer breakfast until 10am and not make more food, especially when guests ask for it. The restaurant is also okay for lunch (the beach restaurant next door has a much better and more diverse menu). Overall okay and a bit overpriced for what we paid to stay there.

For those looking for a good beach I recommend Grand Case location.
Hotel staff was friendly . Due to flight situations (Venezuela) hotel did not credit or reimburse for the day late check in and told me to speak with Expedia.
Called Expedia they told me deal with hotel . Run around. The manger could have been accommodated and at least give me credit to use for an extra occupancy t ( 2 night) not nice . The manger seemed nice but was not accommodating to our situation. Was not right and felt unfair. I would not recommend .

I would expect to be served coffee when I sit down for breakfast buffet. I would not expect to be limited to one beach towel per day. This place is overpriced for what you get. I would give it 3.5

I had a pleasant stay at this resort, which offers a lot of convenience and comfort. The location is excellent, with many dining options within walking distance, and the included breakfast was consistently good. My room was very nice, stylish, and comfortable, which added a lot to the overall experience. The staff throughout the property were always helpful and available whenever needed.

Beach towels were provided and exchanged daily, which made beach days easy. The beach itself was somewhat busy, but I never had trouble finding a set of chairs and an umbrella. The beach staff were especially attentive—they were quick to help with finding loungers, adjusting umbrellas, and taking food or drink orders. While the sand was good, the water had significantly more sea grass than what I experienced in Anguilla, which was a bit disappointing. The waves were also rougher than I prefer. Staff mentioned that beach toys were available for kids, but when I arrived at the beach, I was told they didn’t have any this season.

The resort has a more commercial feel compared to other Caribbean beach stays I’ve had, but the service remained consistently strong. The staff also helped arrange a taxi to the ferry terminal, which made departure smooth.

Overall, I would recommend staying here—the resort is nice, the service is reliable, and the location is convenient. That said, I probably wouldn’t return to this particular island myself, mainly because the water conditions weren’t quite what I was

I enjoyed my stay at La Playa Orient Bay. The hotel is right on the beach. They provide beach chairs and beach umbrellas plus daily beach towels.
The hotel is a few steps to a convenient store and next to a village of restaurants.
We were received with a warm smile. Thank you Elena.
Katy the hotel manager introduced herself to us and welcomed us to the island. Benedict helped us when we lost our key wrist for our room.
Honestly,everyone we encountered at the hotel was caring and professional. They made our vacation so easy and enjoyable.
The property is well maintained. Our room was cleaned everyday. We felt safe at night walking on the beach and through the hotel.
We had a wonderful week and actually was able to relax

We have been to St Martin many times and this was the best place we have stayed, by far. The staff was amazing, the room was spacious and included a small kitchen. The location, on the beach, was also amazing. We can't say enough about the staff to include the reception, the maid service and the dining staff. You couldn't ask for better service from the gals in the dining are.
