Good location, close to grocery store on the same street, downstairs bakrey is located when brakefast is served. Free parking. Neighborhood is loud, cars and traffic and morning bakry costumers. Rooms are good, room service was good, nice lady was cleaning the room every day. Good hotel if you travel on the budget.

Great breakfast sandwich should really say sub and pastry drink at the bakery downstairs. Staff was very friendly, and the place was very clean. The location isn’t great though and there’s two flights of stairs to get up. Unfortunately, on our last day, we discovered there was a nice bar an a five minute walkaround the corner on the water. It would be nice for the staff to know some places to recommend like that. One problem was then I could not turn off the fan and there was only sheets on the bed no blankets. To be fair, we didn’t ask if we could get any. Would’ve been nice as a choice in a cupboard somewhere.

I had a flight cancellation and was grateful to find this very reasonably priced room in Sint Maarten. Since I arrived early, I was allowed to sit in the courtyard until my room was ready, which I really appreciated.The room fixtures and furnishings were a bit old, but very clean. I had problems with the tv and fell coming up the stairs to the upper courtyard. There is a sign warning people to use the handrail, which admittedly I was not doing as I was carrying the free breakfast (very good, btw). This is not a place to come if you have mobility issues as all rooms are on the upper floor and only accessible by stairs. Also the area, though safe, is kind of on the outskirts and walking is difficult due to a lack of sidewalks in some parts. I was able to walk to a restaurant in less than 10 minutes, which was very convenient. Overall, I would recommend the place if you need an inexpensive, safe and clean place to stay.

The room was good. However, there were pigeons living on the outside of the window ledge, so the sound they make was very loud and irritating. The wifi literally kept cutting out every few minutes sometimes seconds. We got complimentary breakfast which was also good, although I don't feel the choice of bread we get should be different to the choice of bread a paying customer gets because after all we are not begging it was inclusive in hotel booking.

Carl’s Unique Inn is a perfect alternative to hectic Philipsburg, quiet, convenient access to nearby wharf and dining options of Cole Bay, and also the airport. Staff is friendly and the property is attractive. Added bonus is the hotel’s on-premises island-renowned bakery, providing the visitor fantastic, fresh meat pies and sandwiches. This stay was about what I expected. Those who want fancy, this is not your hotel. It was clean. Immediate area is basically an industrial street. We didn't feel unsafe but far from charming. It was less than ten minutes to walk to the Cole Bay Marina area where we found an excellent restaurant. Lagoonies Bistro and Bar had good food with a trendy vibe. Friendly service there. For the price, Carl's was great value for a clean place to rest your head for a night. Light breakfast was included in the price. Lots of stairs for those with mobility issues and luggage. There was no wine cork available even after asking. So we couldn't enjoy our bottle of wine in the evening there since it had a cork. No hair blower in the room but asked and one was brought to us. These are basic hotel items we expect. Bed was noisy and soft. The mattress seemed to cave in the middle. Pillows were fairly flat. I bring my own, so not an issue for me. Linens fresh and clean. Lots of shampoo and conditioner provided. Towels were nice. The water kept changing temperatures during my shower...hot then cold then hot, etc. The staff were nice but I didn't feel like they were overly friendly or cared much about us being there. . Again, for the price, the stay was fine.

I had time before my flight and he allowed me to leave my suitcase in his office while I explored the area until it was my time to head to the airport and I had a taxi within 10 minutes.

You had access to the busses $1.50 for the fare. The staff were friendly and gave an all round at home vibe. Food delivery was easily accessible. You were able to purchase a local sim card for usage at reception and top up in the bakery while shopping or getting breakfast. The property was clean and well maintained.

Wonderful and very affordable hidden gem. The property does not look fancy from the outside but inside the rooms are very clean and well kept, very minor upgrades needed. Bakery located downstairs, where you get the lovely free breakfast which comes with your booking. Free parking onsite, I recommend getting a rental to move around the island from this area. Very helpful and friendly staff, I had to check out 4 days early & return home due to an emergency and the owner kindly approved a refund although I was not entitled to it because I did not have purchase protection with expedia. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a budget friendly stay and I do plan on coming back myself.
