The property was as described. The adult only area looked incredibly nice. The family area, which is where we stayed at the Sonesta. Maha was beautiful. The lobby was very clean and modern. The rooms were clean and modern. The beds were very small and a little bit hard. We needed to get some extra pillows and then everything seemed OK. The view of the ocean was beautiful and we could see the sunset. We had to call a couple of times to have her refrigerator restocked, but everyone was very kind. The room was cleaned every day. The pool bar was specific to just adults which was difficult because we had children with us who loved a swim party to get there piña colada‘s. They could go to the opposite side they had to get out of the pool. They loved the slides. Although they were quite small and it would be nice if they had a larger area. However, again it was as described in the kids had a great time. The beach was beautiful. The food was good. I loved that you did not have to make reservations for dinner. I wish there was more entertainment in the evenings for families. But what we saw was great. It was nice that some restaurants included you got to leave the resort and a walk down the main street. It definitely made it feel like more of a village vibe. We took advantage of the Pickleball court, which was also wonderful.

Rook was dirty, AC didn’t work, bed was crunchy noises when sleeping, the rain shower head didn’t work, the ceiling was falling down where the AC was. Service at breakfast at ocean terrace was awful. Servers do not communicate when seating people and seated us at a table that already had people seated at and they were at the buffet getting their plate. Service at lunch was not good. I will be sending a formal complaint to Sonesta regarding our issues. For $700/night the room better be clean and service impeccable. I’ve had better service and cleanliness at a holiday inn.

The Maho beach was nice, and being near airport was a plus.

Just got back from my stay at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and wanted to share a quick review!

Overall, I had a great time. The resort was very clean and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

The food was okay, but I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t feel very authentic. I was really hoping for more Caribbean dishes and fresh local fruits, but most of the options seemed geared more toward tourists. When you visit an island, you really want to experience the local flavors too.
The nighttime entertainment could definitely be improved ,it wasn’t very engaging. Also, the teens club didn’t allow my 10-year-old to participate since it’s for ages 13+, which was a bit limiting for families with younger kids.

One small thing...the lobby AC was way too cold!

That said, despite a few drawbacks, it was still a great stay overall and I enjoyed my time there.

Huge cockroaches (found one crawling on our toothbrushes) also in buffet area, tried to tell front desk but they didn’t seem to care. All of us except one got very ill, spent whole travel day home in any bathroom we could find and daughter threw up on the plane. I can see the hotel is trying but when you spend $500+ a night you expect more. Good pool and drinks and it’s nice of them to let you explore property early before your room is ready.

Small resort with a lot of offerings. Kids pool kept our 5 yr old entertained for hours each day. Food selection and quality was amazing for a resort. Very clean resort with attentive, friendly staff. Loved watching planes land and take off from Maho Beach, right outside the resort. Highly recommend and we will return!

Staff is very friendly and accommodating to your needs. We had some issues with the cleaning of our bathroom even after leaving a generous tip on the first day of our stay. Ashanti at reception was very nice and took care of our issues. The breakfast food was ok the lunch and dinner food at the buffet was good. The mexican restaurant food could have been better and the italian restaurant food decent. Justin was our server both nights at the italian restaurant and he was great.

The resort is beautiful and kept very clean. Maho beach was accessible from the resort while we were there. It’s a small beach, but beautiful and so much fun to watch planes come and go! The buffet had a great variety of food, pizza was very good, as were the Italian and Mexican restaurants. The only negative is the lack of things to do after dinner. We spent one evening going into the different shops that are near the resort. It made for a very nice time. However, my two teenagers inevitably ended up in the room in their phones in the evening due to nothing being an available for them to do. If the pool would stay open into the evening, they would have swam. Overall we loved Sonesta Maho and would stay there again without hesitation!

What is good: the staff are friendly and the hotel is conveniently located next to the airport, you can watch planes landing and take off all day at Maho beach.
Not so good: the food is not great, the hotel is dated in need of nenovation, the beds are not comfortable (at least my room),stations are minimally staff so waiting for a burguer, a hot dog, etc., I don’t drink much but the options were not that good either.
Conclusion: food in the island is expensive, if you are on a budget or want to minimize spending this may be a good option though the food option will not wow you. Getting a car is recommended if you like to explore, taxis are expensive and other than the airport there is not a lot close by. The buffet at the end became a good option for ok meals, we did not like the italian restaurant, the asian always had a long wait time, we gave up on it. The Mexican was ok, we went once and did not come back. The hotel can also use more entertainment through out the day and at night. I must say that the shows that were offered were good.

The only bad thing I can actually say is that when we checked in our room it’s wasn’t cleaned properly there were hair and glitter all over from the shower to the toilet around the bed. From the moment we arrived, the resort impressed us with its pristine condition. The entire property—from the manicured grounds to the modern architecture of the main buildings—is meticulously maintained, reflecting a high standard of care that extends to the surrounding area.
The hallmark of our stay, however, was the staff. Their welcoming demeanor and professional attentiveness created an immediately inviting atmosphere. We found the culinary offerings to be consistently excellent, whether dining at the formal restaurants or enjoying a more casual experience at the bar. A particular highlight was the service at the main sports bar; Damon was exceptionally attentive and provided a level of engaging service that truly enhanced our evenings.
After exploring the island, the on-site spa offered a tranquil sanctuary. The therapists were skilled and professional, ensuring a restorative experience that was well worth the time. Additionally, the convenience of the on-site concierge made arranging local tours and excursions seamless.
We are already looking forward to our return visit

Check in was a breeze. The young lady was friendly and accommodating. We booked an ocean view room and the view was beautiful. The resort was easy to get around and there was always something open to get a bite to eat. The food at the buffet is typical all inclusive fare. It’s leaves a lot to be desired but I was always able to find something tasty on the buffet. I absolutely recommend Sonesta Maho. The views are amazing.

This is a perfect resort for our two and four-year-old! Everything was very clean, food was much better than we were expecting, the pool was clean and the slides were great for the kids! Two employees specifically, Sharon and Jackie were so great with our kids seeking them out and connecting with them each time we saw them. The ocean at the resort is pretty rough but the beach is pretty. Also only 10 minute walk to Mullet Bay which was mostly calmer.

The room was clean and nice great views. A lot of things close very early the swim up bar close at 6 the pool closes early. A lot of employees were very rude didn’t smile at all it’s very hard to tip people when you feel like your bothering people!! All the Food was very good!! This was our first all inclusive hotel we are usually cruise people so this hotel didn’t make us want to switch over. Our friends we went with said don’t go off this hotel because the other all inclusive they have been to definitely are better then this hotel!!

We really enjoyed all the food choices. We enjoyed all the restaurants as well as the buffet. The pizza was delicious as were the bar b q hamburgers and hotdogs. The pool area was very busy but we planned ahead and had access to the adults only pool. I’m not a big drinker but the drinks were all very tasty. We would stay here again.

I wanted to love this resort but I must say the hotel is in terrible conditions.
I checked into my Room and there was a broken makeup mirror and Blood on the bathroom (room 548) wall and the overhead shower was not working.. I contacted the front desk and they told me they would come and fix it. They never did.I spoke to the front desk agent Named Jackie and she spoke to her manager (she was helpful she put the notes on my account about the damages and gave me a $150.00 credit but they ended up charging me )The food was great but the staff wasn’t very friendly.
After checking out my Credit card was charged $1300.00 for a broken mirror that I reported when I first checked in. I contacted the resort to fix these changes and every time I called they said they would get back to me never did . Now I’m disputing this with my credit card.
Stay far away from this resort .

The food was terrible—there were absolutely no options for those who don’t eat pork, especially at breakfast. The entertainment was disappointing, and the pool bar closed at 6 PM. We stayed here for 5 nights. Since we live in Daytona Beach, hanging by the pool was not a thing. The food was not as good as we thought it would be, although breakfast always was. Plus, you better like Coors Light or Caribe if you want to drink their inclusive beer, because it’s all they have. Hanging out on Maho Beach and watching the jets is why we stayed here and that didn’t disappoint.

We stayed at Sonesta Ocean Point and had the Best Time! We were treated like royalty in the moment we stepped onto the property to the time we left. We stayed in the rooftop butler room! Our Butler Ranjeet was THE BEST! He went above and beyond, even serving us breakfast and pouring our champagne. He extended himself and booked us two days with the free cabanas when you have Butler service. He
Arranged our Taxi Service we used to go around the island and to the airport!
When we called reservations to make arrangements to go Nadine was so informative, and helped make the process seamless to get the butler service room, as well as explained everything.
The pools were very clean, the Maho beach very nice and the area safe!
We use the casino across the street from Sonesta, we use the rooftop bar Mimosa, which was so nice. We also had happier one day at ROMA and Ivy is The Best Bartender! I recommend trying her amazing espresso martinis!!!

At Sonesta, both rooftop bars Sunset and Cloud 9 are incredible! If you go to cloud nine, go have a lemon drop martini and watch the plane fly over at sunset.

The maid service kept the room cleanly every day, they extended themselves by replenishing the towels and if we need anything else they were there.

All the restaurants have amazing food! For an all inclusive resort, we did not have a bad meal. Every morning Chef Jon made the best omelettes at Azul!
The dinners at Azul or different every night and incredible.

My stay at Sonesta was a bit of a mixed experience. There were several maintenance issues in the room that really shouldn’t have been overlooked. The shower head needed fixing, the AC seemed stuck at 18 degrees the entire time, and the Body Soap, Shampoo and conditioner dispensers were broken, which was inconvenient.

The pool area was also disappointing. There’s only one pool, and it was consistently very crowded, making it hard to actually enjoy.
That said, the staff were genuinely nice and helpful, which made a positive difference during the stay.

Overall, it has potential, but the property really needs better upkeep and attention to detail.

My Sonesta Maho vacation was amazing! From the check-in to the actual 6 night stay to the check-out, no issues or complaints. Our room was cleaned daily, the food was good, the gym was sufficient for my use and I had a great time using the pool daily. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely revisit this resort.

Hotel is beautiful, food is fresh but always cold. The hotel need to ensure the food are hot or at least warm enough for consumption.

Hotel staffs are not warm nor pleasant... forget trying to give cash tips because they don't appreciate it nor thank you for it. Well not only the hotel staffs, the whole city doesnt not have 'Thank you' in their vocabulary.

Best food in the Hotel is MR JOHNs burger at the Oasis pool side.

Overall it was nice but i expected better based on the price point paid. Also, when booking from expedia, you dont get what you paid for and displayed pictures are false advertisement.
I paid for pool view and i will insert what view they gave me... never pay extra cos you never get what you paid for. 2 times i have been so angry but lessons learned.

The place is nice: good pool for the kids, staff was mostly nice, food was ok for an all-inclusive. It seems that they keep things sanitary and clean, which is very important. Drinks were good too. Rooms were ok, but beds were not very comfortable and small if you plan to share a bed with a child. Those were twin beds with very inconvenient mattresses and pillows. Also, there is an open air club across the street which blasts music till 3am on Fri/Sat. If you get a room with the street view, it will be tough to sleep because of the street and club noise. There is no real beach at the property. You have to either walk to Maho beach, which is not that nice, but suitable mostly for plane watching. Also walking there is not very convenient--either through the street or stones and water, since they don't allow conveniently walking through the neighboring resort. There is another beach close by, but best to drive there. Also, will have to pay for beach chairs and everything else. Overall, it's not bad for the price, but I don't think I would go to this resort or island again.

Bed sheets had stains. Not many options at buffet. Restaurants and room service not open as advertised. Food overall just not great. Edible but not good. Front desk staff and Michelle at restaurant very friendly and helpful most of the others not so much.

The hotel had an odor and the rooms were not properly cleaned. The bathroom tiles had grime and the hotel cups had lipstick stains.

We had an issue with our tv
Someone came to look at it.
Said he couldn't fix it and that no one was available on the weekend.
So we had no tv for our entire stay.
A little disappointing that no other solution was suggested.

The staff was so rude, drinks made with cheap liquor, the food was nasty and old .. I had sour fruit and molded bread
