This hotel is terrible. The staff is rude and don't communicate with each other at all. One person says one thing and the other says another. My checkout was 11:00 and as I was sitting down waiting on my taxi they were banging on my door at 10:30 asking when I was leaving. I would not stay here again! Try the hotel next door I believe it's called \"Holland\" hotel? Do not book here!

We had to book a room at last minute as our flight was canceled. This hotel was very accommodating. Check-in was fast, easy efficient. All the staff that we encountered were amazing. The rooms were a little dated, but extremely clean the bed was comfortable, and the view and location was amazing. Would definitely recommend. restaurant below it was amazing as well.

The staff was extraordinarily helpful to us! They secured a taxi so we didn't have to haul our suitcases to the taxi area. More importantly, we inadvertently left two items at the hotel when we went to board our cruise ship. They called us to let us know and brought the items to the security gate at the pier. Great location, just off beach and boardwalk, beach chairs available from restaurant downstairs if open and you buy a drink, if not there are plenty of places to rent two chairs and an umbrella for $10. Room was large and clean, a bit dated, but completely functional. Front desk staff was helpful and provided storage for our bags.

While there was a nice view, there was not a nice balcony to enjoy it from. It says there are beach loungers as an amenity, but were told that they don’t have beach loungers on arrival. Also, there definitely was not 5 beach bars! I heard that the ceiling caved in in the room beside mine. So I wouldn’t recommend. Didn’t really enjoy staying in philipsburg that much, beach not swimmable, water is murky.

Hot water & AC (TV too- but priorities) went out- mgr’s solution: “your dad’s staying here too- go ask to use his shower/chill out in his room.” OR he offered to call my dad’s room to ask on my behalf”… I’m in my late 40s traveling with my hubs- full stop we’re NOT bothering my dad bc your hotel is broken! Philipsburg is best avoided but if you had to stay there this is a fairly decent hotel, even if a little frayed around the edges. It is right on the boardwalk. We had a very large room with a separate living room overlooking the beach and kitchenette. There is no patio but you can open the front window completely to feel like you’re sitting outside. The large king bed is comfortable. The kitchenette is minimally stocked. It is very expensive but that seems to be the norm for Philipsburg. The main problem was the lack of sound insulation. The reception is not very helpful so don’t rely on them for information. OK for a couple of days but I wouldn’t recommend for longer.

We chose this hotel mainly for the location, and that’s the one strong point; it’s on the main street and genuinely close to shops, bars and the beach.
Check-in was fine, but not particularly warm or welcoming. The bigger issue is the condition of the hotel overall: it feels dated and a bit run down.
Our room was clean, but very tired. There was a cleaning cart left outside our door when we arrived (we moved it ourselves, not a huge deal, but not a great first impression). The fridge was old and worn, and the bathroom amenities were disappointing (toiletries were partially used (shampoo/shower gel only about a third full)) and the hand soap was watered down. It didn’t feel like a 3-star standard.
We also booked a “partial sea view,” which is a generous description at best. The balcony mainly overlooks a building, and you can only see a small sliver of sea if you stand in a specific spot and turn toward the narrow side. This isn’t a balcony view you can actually sit and enjoy.
Finally, the listing mentioned tea and coffee facilities, there was a kettle, but no tea or coffee provided, which again feels misleading.
Overall, the location is convenient, but the hotel doesn’t match a 3-star experience. Between the dated condition, misleading room descriptions, and poor-quality/used amenities, it wasn’t an enjoyable stay and I wouldn’t return.

Rooms were clean but balcony was in a very poor condition. The floor was bad and the chair and tables seemed that they were not cleaned for weeks. So you go to the balcony but not sit. In addition the AC stopoed working in the night. That is ok as I dont expect service in the night. But the fan made such bad noise through the night so that could have been serviced before. Please make sure these things are taken care of for customers.

Dislike: Many details in the rooms are unfinished or lack maintenance. e.g. Missing or damaged and dirty lamp coverings and shades, burnt bulbs, poor lighting and not warm light, electrical wiring of AC outside protective casing. Ceiling fan in the bedroom is too low and forms a danger. TV's had no channels. Some mold on the bathroom ceiling. Showerhead was loose, No iron and no iron board. Not convinced that pillowcases were clean, some bathroom towels were stained but smelted clean (looked shabby). No \"do not disturb\" card. Headboard of bed is loose, electrical receptacles are worn down causing plugs to be loose causing sparks. Broken curtains elements. Former plastic cable coverings stuck on walls and ceilings which are no longer in use.
Some investment and a bit labor to improve relatively small, mentioned details and issues would make a world of difference and create value for the user, the owners and further enhance St. Maarten's touristic product.

No hotel parking in beach area so be prepared if you rent a car. The area was nice with multiple beach bars and restaurants in walking distance and nice shops. Lovely hotel in centre of Philipsburg. It is getting a bit dated but everything was there and worked. Good AC. Good beds. We had a large 'suite' with m/w, stove fridge, etc. Excellent location and great staff. Not super fancy but highly recommended.

Very good location on the boardwalk near lots of restaurants and shops. The duty free pavilion is close by as is the Market where you can buy drinks and snacks. The hotel itself is very nice and the staff is wonderful. They are helpful and friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The A/C was great. All in all, very pleased with our stay and will definitely be back.

This was just a short overnight stay before going on to St. Barts -- the hotel was good, met all of our needs and is a short walk to the Great Bay Ferry, which is why we selected it. The area is overbuilt and not appealing but the long boardwalk was good for walking and the Caribbean weather was delightful.

This was our first time to St Maarten so it was a gamble on where we would stay. Loved Horizon and where it was located (right on the beach). I have -0- complaints. The vacation went just how I planned- RELAXING!! When I come back, I would stay closer to Simpson Bay, it has more of a night life and places to eat. After the cruise ships pull out EVERYTHING closes up. Thank you Horizon for making our trip memorable.

We chose the Horizon View Beach Hotel for its convenient location to the cruise terminal, ~1 mi. away. It is directly on the beach, though our room had more of a peek-a-boo beach view from a balcony, facing the adjacent building's roof. The room was clean and spacious with a kitchenette. It was rather sparse, with a table and chair but no soft furnishings other than the bed. I would return for the convenience factor and moderate price.
