Very nice and clean hotel, very friendly service, food from the restaurant is really good, but Tuesday Buffett is terrible, very little options and food is not good, price is way too high and no any soft drinks included in the buffet, maybe that’s the only hotel charge water for the buffet. Hope they can improve that .

We loved our stay! They have a variety of delicious dishes at their restaurants. Loved the Carambola as it overlooks the pool and ocean. The rooms are spacious and decorated beautifully. Ryan at the front desk is amazing. We had a problem with our rental car and he called he rental company and helped us solve the issue.

We had an amazing stay! The hotel was absolutely clean and beautiful, and the pool area was so enticing — it truly felt like a dream. The highlight of our experience was the warm welcome we received at check-in. Dave from the hotel staff gave us the best tour and made us feel so special. We were even given a rose for Valentine’s Day, which was such a thoughtful touch.

St. Maarten was unforgettable — we will definitely be back!

Overall, I was highly disappointed with this hotel. On a positive note everyone was very nice and sweet who worked there, and the rooms were fine. But that’s where the positives end.

The food across the whole restaurant was absolutely disgusting. We spilt club sandwich every day bc it was the only safe thing to eat. The service was sooo slow and we had to wait for 3 hours to even have them clear our food by the pool. This was also after asking numerous times for them to clear and bring our check. Also the location of the hotel is very remote leaving you basically stranded to o to eat there or take a $50 taxi across the island fo go to a restaurant. We could see that the hotel was trying to make this more of a resort feeling but the activities were very limited and did not enhance the experience. Finally the whole property had a very stark corporate feel which does not match the tropical island destination and does not add any ambiance or making it feel inviting to relax stay and have a drink in the lobby bar.

Also while they tried to have a fun Super Bowl event, they failed pretty terribly: The television kept crashing, the food took over two hours to arrive, and then was burnt and our nachos basically were cheese on pita chips. So while they are nice and try hard this property is definitely now worth the money for the experience you get!

Outrageous $50 USD per day resort charge added (this is a hotel hidden fee not a government tourist tax).

Expensive to get to and travel from by taxi.

Lack of breakfast included is a down side. Meals are over priced.

$200 USD for a beach/pool bed (these are free at Excellent hotels).

Good rooms, helpful staff but
Not competitive with 5 star hotels in Punta Cana for the same price or less (especially the all inclusives)

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The property was well maintained and my room was luxurious. I especially enjoyed the sunrise yoga session. The instructor was amazing, making sure I had the perfect start to each day while on vacation.

The staff was all around very lovely. I would recommend this hotel for couples, friends and families.

The room was beautiful, the staff was friendly and welcome, but I was very disappointed by some aspects of my stay, I only was there for 2 days. They didn’t remove the cup from my welcome drink and when I moved it outside my room it sat there until I left even though they came for turn down service and to clean my room since I was clearly finished with it. I also asked the housekeeping for an extra qtip when she came for the turn down and she handed me a cup and clearly didn’t understand English, just a bit disappointing.

Also, they didn’t give me slippers and when I was I was told they ran out of them. I find that hard to believe. I had called twice and then after almost an hour they called back to say they ran out.

At breakfast at the buffet they didn’t get my drinks to my table in time for my meal either and other customers said that was typical. I loved the hotel, I’ve been coming to st maarten for years and although the property was beautiful I have stayed at many JW marriotts and this one was about a 6/10 when the brand is usually a 10/10.

Every part of the JW Marriott St.Martin experience was exceptional. The staff at this resort are what make it that way. They are truly the best in the entire Caribbean and we have been to almost every island so can say this with thorough travel experience. The food is exceptional, the rooms are exceptional, facilities are all clean and well maintained. We went during the busy Christmas and New Year’s period and even with the resort sold out, you could always find a chair by the pool, they never run out of clean towels and you feel like you’re a special guest. Thank you to everyone at JW with special call outs to Stevenson, Anaika, Kevin, Leann, Dane, and Panurdang who made us feel extra special.

September 2025. The accommodation was clean, with comfortable beds and a well-maintained bathroom. The staff at the JW Marriott St. Maarten Beach Resort & Spa provided exemplary service. The resort offered a luxurious atmosphere, with notable features including the fitness centers, spa and more... The only minor issue encountered was the lack of clear communication regarding the closure of some on-site restaurants during check-in and Beach Seaweed. Overall, a stay at the JW Marriott Resort & Spa in St. Maarten delivers a premium and comfortable experience, particularly for guests seeking upscale amenities and high-quality service. I highly recommended JW Marriott St Maarten Beach Resort & Spa.

Very quiet spa hotel. Good for relaxing I suppose but not much else. Not much going on on the hotel grounds. The beach is subpar.
The on-site restaurants are decent (there are only a few - 1 open full time, 2 bars, and 1 open only part time) but not great. I wasn’t impressed with the food. The service was great, though. My biggest gripe was the fact that the local birds are allowed to hop all over the outdoor tables (on the silverware!!) which is so unsanitary!
The on-site store is also quite bare. You can’t even buy a beach towel.
Lastly, the power went out for 30 minutes on our last night there. It was not acknowledged, nor was compensation offered, until we asked and pushed for it.
Overall, 3/5 stars, I most likely won’t be coming back to this hotel, although I will certainly be back to the island, as St Maarten is BEAUTIFUL and I enjoyed my time.

(The Marriott location in St Kitts is a MUCH better experience. I also liked the Negril location in Jamaica. )

The JW Marriott is nice, the rooms were clean and the customer service was great. It is on the east side of the Dutch island (~30 min ride), so it’s best to rent a car to get around (they have free self parking in a covered garage). I got a free upgrade to my room and had an early check in. The dining options are limited, so be prepared to venture outside. My only drawback was reception calling me the night before checkout w/ a fake survey to ask what time I’d be checking out the following day. I thought that was tacky to ask considering checkout is at 12. She proceeded to clean it up and say that they’d be happy to extend my stay.

We had a wonderful stay at the Marriot from 7/23-7/27. The staff were extremely friendly and nice. The hotel is gorgeous. We loved our room. Our only complaint is that they need to move the breakfast. The lunch and dinner menu was very good. The dinner menu choice were excellent and the food was soooooo good. However, we was very disappointed with the breakfast.

The positive aspects of the property included standard Marriott amenities and satisfactory room accommodations. However, the property's beach maintenance presented significant issues, with improperly cleaned seaweed resulting in an offensive odor. Furthermore, the limited restaurant availability, with only one establishment open during the week-long stay and a restricted menu, detracted from the overall guest experience.

The booking information should accurately reflect the property's current state, aligning with the advertisement. Currently, only one restaurant is operational. Furthermore, the property's proximity to the beach results in an unpleasant odor due to accumulated seaweed. The location is remote, necessitating a 35-45 minute drive to access suitable beaches or dining establishments.

Do your self a favor and don't book here, also staff are not rude but very unhappy or just force to work personalities. You will be very lucky if you get a good morning or a smile around here.

I want to first and foremost state that the staff from the front doorman, to the front desk, waitstaff for the restaurant and by the pool and finally the cleaning staff were absolutely amazing so welcoming, kind and always willing to help. Two of my biggest disappointments were first the sargassum which didn’t give us any opportunity to enjoy the beach at our hotel. I know this is not your fault and I do appreciate the email advising me that we would not be able to use the beach which gave me an opportunity to look for other locations to go. My biggest upset was only having one restaurant open at night for dinner with the same menu every night. I was not made aware of the other restaurant being closed until I went to the front desk on the night it was supposed to be open. I was extremely disappointed there were a few days were we did day trips and came back to the hotel late in the day tired and we had to eat at the same restaurant with the same menu every night. I just wish if you are going to keep one restaurant open at least rotate the menu. Everything at the hotel is basically the same thing in all locations, even though the food was amazing it just gets boring when you are there for 7 days. The last thing I would also recommend would be to maybe have an atm machine especially when you are on that side of the island it’s very hard to find a location to get money and it would be very convenient to have an atm located at the hotel.

My experience at this resort was horrible. Upon arrival we were greeted properly! Got up to our room and it was filthy, hair everywhere, washcloths and our balcony was dirty. They came to clean our room while we were settled in. Each day we had lunch by the pool and we realized on the second day that they were giving us different menus with the same food and different prices. My mother spoke on this matter and they quickly snatched the menu from us. The power on the right side of the room did not work so I could not charge my phone at night. The power went out in the hotel one night and they told us that it was the whole island, it was not. We were without air for about an hour and a half. We could not access the beach as advertised due to the ridiculous amount of seaweed which I understand is nature but this was not conveyed to us. The taxi services that we paid for through JW Marriott was late picking us up from the airport and late getting us to our excursion which we had to pay extra for to even get on board. They were charging us credit card fees with someone from the island told us that that was illegal. The restaurants that are advertised in the resort were not open the service in the one restaurant that was open was terrible. My mother hurt herself in the sauna because they had wooden blocks that were not properly nailed to the ground and had nail sticking out of them. It seemed like every day something went wrong, which ruined our stay.

Overall, we had a great stay! The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the food/drinks were excellent.

The only downside was the seaweed on the beach (Sargassum). It brought a strong fishy odor that made it difficult to enjoy the pool area, and the beach itself was covered in large piles of seaweed, making it inaccessible. While we still made use of the pool since we had paid for the experience, the seaweed did detract from the overall enjoyment a bit.

We got notice about the seaweed 2 days before the trip from the resort and they gave options for others beaches in the area, which we went to. Before booking, do research on the time of year you are going to avoid Sargassum (piling of seaweed)

The staff was AMAZING! Our stay started weeks before arrival when Marla reached out to help plan our stay and was super responsive to all my inquiries. Then upon arrival, Frisner greeted us with the warmest and most welcoming smile. (more on Frisner later). At the front desk, Janis asked if we would be interested in a room upgrade but didn't stop there...to make sure the room and location met our expectations she asked Marlon (security) to show us the rooms before checking us in...Marlon gave us a little walking tour of the property as well and made great recommendations for local cuisine and attractions. During our stay Arnaldo was there each morning to greet us with a friendly smile and great advice on things to do on the island. We ended most days at the amazing pool (and swim up pool bar:) for drinks by Jean-Claude and light snacks delivered poolside by Shinde (Pan) and Jareese...their attention to our party and service was incredible. My wife and I had our first couples massage by Odalis and Aracelis at the Hibiscus Spa...HEAVEN! Back to Frisner...we were leaving for a beach day trip to the other side of the island and forgot towels...Frisner noticed and chased us down delivering the towels before we drove away. Amazing!

Our experience at the JW Marriott was a disaster. The beach was completely covered in rotting seaweed and totally unusable, not at all what was advertised in the photos. No one made any effort to clean it up, and the smell was awful.

Worse yet, they charged our credit card multiple times without our authorization. When we tried to resolve this at the front desk, the staff was rude, dismissive, and even borderline nasty about it. No apology, no ownership, just attitude.

Between the unusable beach, unhelpful staff, and shady billing practices, this was an absolute nightmare. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.

We originally checked in at the Sonesta hotel, but since it was so dirty, we left there and booked the Marriott. When we arrived at the Marriott, the service was amazing, the staff was beyond friendly and very helpful. You can definitely tell that this is a five star hotel. The restaurants are very good, the only thing is is that the hotel is far from everything. It is about 30 minutes from everything and you have to pay $50 cab rides back-and-forth. There is no beaches over there. You have to drive about 20 to 30 minutes to the nearest beach if there was beaches and was near everything it would be much better. This is a very quiet hotel they didn’t have anything going on no live entertainment or anything. But the hotel was very clean. The staff was great. The food was amazing and the rooms were very nice.

Staff were super nice. Room was nice. Food was terrible. We ate at the hotel when we arrived around 1pm. Everything we ordered tasted like it was prepared hours ago and not fresh. From the calamari to the fries. Everything dry, stale and cold. It was really bad for such a hotel name and destination. We gave the hotel food a second chance and ordered room service at 8pm our third night. Again cold chicken wings that were so dry n tasted like they were prepared at noon or leftover from day before. Not worth the price we paid for this hotel…

The staff is a mixed bag and not very friendly except a handful. They treated me and my family very rudely at the pool when we went to the beach for approx 15 minutes and threw away everything from our chairs, when everyone was doing the same thing. They provided mis information about local travel details, they also caused a massive headache and mess when checking out! I do not recommend !!!

Great recommendations from the staff for dinner options off the property. Dinner at the hotel was not great. Also we were charged a 50 daily resort fee...which came as a surprise on check out. Food offering and quality was poor this was our biggest issue. My husband also got food poisoning on our first evening was sick for two days and had to see the doctor. The manager though was very helpful even though after three days we decided to leave and go elsewhere. So overall for us the location didn’t work nor the food offering. Nice facilities but expensive for what it is lots of hidden charges as well.

The hotel has an excellent location, the view from our room was awesome and the property is new and clean. It was a bit too cold in the restaurants and corridors on floor 1. There is also room for improvement with regard to entertainment and sport activities options in the hotel, especially for children and teenagers. Overall, the hotel is great.

We had a great time.in St. MARTIN, the JW Marriott was very clean and new , the staff were very friendly the food was excellent, but only 2 restaurants so you need to go out to eat.for some change.

The beach is nice sandy but a bit small and the water is rough, which we were ok with.
We went to other near by beaches as almost everyone was doing at this resort. Its easy to rent a car and they will bring it to your hotel.
The staff at frot desk are very helpful.

The hotel was very clean and new good staff , good coffee. It could use anothern restaurant or dinning option. Thank.you Marriot

If you’re traveling to St. Maarten exclusively to enjoy the pool and beach, this resort is fine, but it is nothing special and I wouldn’t stay here again.

Starting with the pros, the resort is impeccably clean and the rooms are very modern. All of the staff we encountered were very pleasant and helpful – especially the pool/Breeze staff and Kevin at the lobby bar. The jerk chicken wings on the room service menu were phenomenal!

The location of the hotel is the #1 con. It’s located in Oyster Pond, up/down several very steep hills, with virtually nothing else around. If you want to leave the resort, you’ll NEED to take a taxi and taxis in SXM are not cheap. We paid $70 round trip for (2) people to go a 20 minute drive from the hotel to Grand Case for nightlife. There is one restaurant nearby, Big Fish (excellent food and service), but it is not safe to walk there due to the hills, lack of sidewalks and street lights.

The hotel itself is nice and well-maintained, but it did not look like any other Marriott resort I’ve ever visited. The interior looked much more like a conference hotel in the middle of a boring city than a Caribbean island resort. It was very lackluster. I paid for a “Resort View” room and the photos online showed rooms facing the pool. Unfortunately, our room view faced trees and the hotel next door. The balcony was right above a terrace where children would play beginning very early in the morning. The walls were also very thin. We could hear everything!

The hotel was really beautiful, modern and clean. The staff were really friendly, attentive and super helpful. The only thing to consider is the location - It’s not really close to anything so it takes 20 - 30 minutes to get around to places. But there are plenty of taxis on site so if you want a mix of quiet relaxation and activity, it just might be your best bet. Other than that, it’s an amazing hotel, and we had a great time!

Was clean but parts were falling apart at night with barriers set up near the gym. The staff was very nice. Considering how awful the location was you would think that the taxis would be a bit more reasonable. Thank goodness we rented a car! Also, the $50 resort fee/day was very steep for nothing included. They didn’t make it personal by wishing me a happy 40th.. I have stayed at cheap accommodation which have put in that little bit of extra touch.
I will say that the beach was nice and the grounds were very well kept, the restaurant was pretty tasty but not enough staff. The staff that was present did a good job.

Really feel mixed on this hotel. Beautiful new hotel with a beautiful pool area. Airy, spacious rooms. Friendly staff.

Downsides: it is in a remote area that doesn’t have much going on. Roads to get there are awful. Beach is rough. Nonexistent activities and one restaurant and cafe to dine at. Lots of glitches like our in room tv was not set up with channels, the outlet panel near our bed didn’t work, front desk is always deserted, restaurant staff seems unfamiliar with menu and protocols.

We won’t be back but I could see this place improving in time if management gets involved to bring it up to standard. Lots of potential!

The staff is polite helpful patient and happy. Keith at Carambola restaurant was exceptional. The pastry Chef came herself to discuss our gluten free need for the dessert. Everyone was accommodating. The rental car seemed to have stalled, the valet staff went above and beyond to help restart. While checking out the manager was courteous and handled everything with well. The hotel was clean, no sand on the floors.

Had to spend the night to to AA cancelling our flight. The staff were super accommodating with a mass late check in, keeping the bar and resturant open late to feed a plane load of passengers. Room was huge, very clean, and well appointed. The area in general looks a little sketch but so does most of the Dutch side of SXM.
