This resort is extremely dated and in need of a serious upgrade. The food at the buffet was average at best, as well as the other restaurants, except the Azul. The food and views, as well as the staff at the restaurant, are the only shining stars at the Sonesta Adults All Inclusive. We would like to especially thank Remi and Maddy for their tremendous kindness and personal attention to detail at the Azul and making every meal we had there so exceptional and extra special and we will forever wish them all the best! Kudos to the chefs there also as everything they cook is exceptional as well!

I would love to be able to say that we found the staff and others very friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately that was not the case. People sadly seemed very indifferent and rarely greeted us with just a friendly hello. They would respond back when we greeted them, but rarely went out of their way to be the one to greet us with a simple smile or hello, which is sad. The smell of the jet fuel from the airport is also very overwhelming on a regular basis, which is another negative, along with the noise.There is also a lack of entertainment on the resort and almost nothing on the adult side, which is more expensive, so one would think there would be some decent entertainment there. We felt like where this is the only all inclusive on the island, the resort sets their standards very low as there is no competition. I would rate this resort as a 2.5 star hotel and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Sonesta is a great option as there are not many all-inclusive resorts on the island. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly and so helpful. We stayed on the adult side and having a pool to ourselves was nice. It is less lively than the kids side but you can just walk over if you want the activities.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay. St. Maarten overall is absolutely beautiful! It was truly a 10 out of 10 experience. We stayed at the Sonesta Ocean Point View - Adult Only, which was the best decision! It was more peaceful, the rooms were nicer & spacious, and we enjoyed the Adult Only restaurants. We loved that we had access to everything!! We definitely believe paying extra to be on the Adult-Only side is 100% worth it! The Staff members greeted us upon arrival, they gave us a welcome drink, we checked-in early for free, had no issues checking-in and checking-out, there were no additional fees besides the security deposit hold ($50 per night of stay and you get it back with no incidents / damage)! The amenities, food, drinks, and entertainment were also great! We highly recommend their Spa. The Ocean front couples massage and classic facial was a 10 out of 10 experience! The Spa Staff is amazing!!! Our only con was: Front desk staff & restaurant staff members energy level is kind of mid. They didn’t have high energy, smile, nor engage from time to time. I also highly recommend getting a private taxi driver before your trip, it made everything super smooth for us!

Overall, we loved it and would go back! Thank you Expedia!

Everone on staff was very helpful and most of the servers were very friendly. The most spectacular place of the entire hotel is the Azul restaurant with gorgeous views, sea breeze and 5 star food for every meal. Hats off to the chef. If we had to return, it would be for this restaurant. The only unfortunate thing is that every pool is very small and full of people who just stand with a drink in hand. Also Maho beach is packed and the water is rough.

The overall hotel was great, the food and staff were wonderful! I wish they had more adult only entertainment. The beach and ocean being feet away and watching the planes land and take off was really special though! I would definitely recommend staying here unless you are highly allergic to cats as there were many around the property but if you can get away with just some allergy meds, the view and sunsets are incredibly worth it!

I stayed at ocean point and the other section of resort is easily accesible-1 or 2 minute walk. Beach is easily accessible and crystal clear. If I were to knitpick, the property managers are not doing their job or possibly constrained by finances. As some detail items are neglected. Doesn't seem like there is a daily checklist that is followed.Some missing pool tiles, some minor cleanliness in room showers. Rooms are older and don't look pristine, missing molding along floors, toilet paper holder mounted far away from bowl and not reachable. landscaping was ok, but mostly greenery. Very few flowering plants. Would book again based on food, ,drinks, amazing views and hospitality off staff. Also love the app, that tells you daily menus and incoming flights.. nighttime entertainment and pool activities just ok

I loved the place the food is very good in all the restaurants of the place the only thing I didn't like was the fact that they only open two restaurants for dinner one does not change the menu for the whole week and the one that does have dress code you can only enter if you have a collar shirt for men my husband only carry one for this trip and the other days it was a problem with this because we didn't know it until we got to the place. The service is very good a very attentive and available staff on the other hand the room is very comfortable but it had water leaks in the ceiling this made the middle of the corridor wet all the time when we passed by and our feet got wet there was a trail throughout the room and I had to dry it with a towel myself

My stay at the Sonesta Resort (Adults Only) was absolutely unforgettable from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Not only were they helpful, but they were offering great tips about the resort, the island, and helping us book some amazing tours.

The excursions and tours were truly a highlight. Each one was organized perfectly, giving us a chance to explore the island and create lasting memories. It felt effortless on our end because the staff took care of all the details for us.

The food and food service were exceptional every single day. There were plenty of delicious options, and the service was fast, warm, and professional. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, every meal felt like a special experience.

The pool and pool bar were another favorite part of our trip. The pool itself was beautiful and relaxing, and the bartenders made the drinks perfectl cold, and refreshing every time. It was the perfect place to unwind, laugh, and enjoy the sunshine.

The Perfect Anniversary at Sonest St. Maartan!

My husband and I stayed at Sonest all adult resort for our Anniversary and enjoyed every minute to the first day arrival and time to leave. The staffs were very very friendly and took care of us. I rank this stay 2nd best to Hawaii based on the trip we have traveled. The food was amazing at every restaurant. The Azeral was our best restaurant to eat a 4 course meal. The Buffet restaurant was amazing as well. We had spicy Ox Tails on the 1st day at Ocean Point. Got to try them if in ST.Maarten. Our Anniversary was amazing at Sonest Ocean Point.

The overall resort and staff was wonderful. My husband and I enjoyed our stay. The only reason I did not give 5 stars on everything was because when I turned the AC to fan mode the ceiling started to leak, they did send maintenance to fix and clean it up. It happened the next day and no one ever came. The AC did work though. Another thing, we stayed on the adult side but the family side was way more active with more entertainment that should have been on the adult side. The adult side was more quiet and a little boring. The family side had a casino in their lobby and the adult side didn't. How's that possible? lol, The family side lobby had AC and the adult side didn't. The family side had great music and the adult side was quiet. It's like the adult side was made for you to go to sleep. lol They did have a little live singing in one of the pools for about 2 hours if you caught it but you would think the all adult side would be fun, fun, fun. My husband and I enjoyed our honeymoon but we have been to livelier adult resorts. The staff and food were amazing!!!

The food was great but specially al Blue restaurant where in particular we want to thank some special people who work there and they are Jenneal, Schneider and Sidia they made us feel welcome and happy. If there is something we need to said is the hotel does not has a doctor nor nurse service, I had a cut in one foot and my wife has to run to the city to buy supplies to to cure it.

Negatives:
1. They said they would decorate the room for our honeymoon, but did not.
2. The bed in our room had been slept in before. There was a significant amount of hair, glitter, sand, makeup, and other debris all over the fitted bed sheet.
3. There was no running water (shower/taps/toilet) in the hotel room for 3-4 hours during one day of our stay. Luckily it only happened once during our stay.
4. I slipped and nearly fell on a significant amount of water lying on the floor in the entrance of our room. It was water from them cleaning the floors in the hallway that morning. It leaked under our door. The housekeepers were great when we asked for towels to clean it up. The shower system is also a slipping hazard, as there's no full door so all the water goes all over the bathroom floor. Be cautious!
Positives:
1. The adult side restaurants are awesome (especially Azul). It was beautiful, tasty, and the staff were wonderful.
2. Almost all of the staff were friendly and kind.
3. Minus the dirty bedsheets, I found the place relatively clean.
4. It's a convenient location with some beautiful views.
5. The staff that came by daily to see if we needed extra towels or water was much appreciated.
I agree with other reviews: the drinks were a hit or miss. Sometimes they didn't even taste like they had alcohol and other times they were strong. Overall, we would return to St. Martin, but we would not return to Sonesta Ocean Point. It wasn't awful, but it also wasn't great.

Azul restaurant — HORRIBLE experience. we weren’t allowed to eat here bc my partner didn’t have a collard shirt on. (He only packed one for this trip) They allowed us to eat with the azul menu but we had to eat it upstairs in the bluefin restaurant which did not require a collard shirt. The food from azul was good. we went back to do the same thing two days later bc we thought it wasn’t a problem but the manager gave us a bad attitude & was not nice to us whatsoever, but she did let us eat with the azul menu upstairs. On our last night we didn’t want to eat at the buffet or Mexican so we asked if we could eat with the azul menu upstairs. Attitude again but they said yes. A few moment later we were asked to leave. She asked us where we were gonna eat & we said we don’t know. Yet we paid $4,000 for this experience. The Italian restaurant let us take some lasagna to go the manger was sweet & cared. Feeling like we were begging for food felt degrading.

Italian restaurant — this night my partner wore his collard shirt. the hostess brought us to the back of the restaurant bc we had a white wrist band (adults only) & told us that this area of the restaurant is exclusive for adults only side. This was cool because a lot of the restaurants are combined with the family side. We both got a Caesar salad & the lasagna. The service & food was great.

The island of Saint Martin is beautiful! This hotel is right in the center of a lot of things. It has some great views. Getting a taxi was very easy. There were two employees in particular that went above and beyond in their day-to-day: Stephon at the bar and Justine at the reception. Those two employees made our time exceptionally well, despite having other rude encounters with staff. The rooms are OK and the adults only amenities are OK as well. I would rate this hotel a 7 out of 10.
