We had a great time at JOIA Iberostar. Room was beautiful and clean. Outside pool area was relaxing, there are three different pool sections and there is Sunbum tanning lotion available by the pool towel shed. The food at the resort was delicious, we enjoyed the buffet, Galleon restaurant and the Italian restaurant. No reservations needed for restaurants, however there is always a waitlist, 45min to an hour wait. Shout out to Omar for serving us during breakfast and lunch buffet. While everything else was exceptional, Drinks could have been better. We were pretty disappointed that for a five star resort the quality of the drinks were a letdown. All frozen drinks tasted the same, mojitos and margaritas didn’t hit the mark either. We’re not big drinkers, but vacation is that special time when you want to sit back, sip something delicious, and catch a little buzz. Thank you Moesha for serving us by the pool.

This was a lovely resort! We will definitely go back for our anniversary. The staff was very friendly and the food at the buffet was delicious. We had ocean view room and the view was amazing. Really liked the vibe and quietness of the resort with it being all adults. Only issue is that some people smoke outside near the pool bar and that ruins the mood. The beach is beautiful and well maintained, and there was plenty of seating. And the drinks were excellent! All of the bartenders were amazing and every drink was strong.

Clean rooms, big balconies, a nice selection of good food. Lovely pools and beach area. We walked down to the other properties and felt like the rose hall had the nicest beach area. Nice cabana and beach loungers. Umbrellas. Attentive staff. Service pool and beach side. Pretty much everything you could ask for. Drinks were full strength I know sometimes people think it’s watered down. Good music. Entertainment. I wish I would have known about the app before hand so I could explore amenities and menus prior. Overall great vacation nice people. We Avoid signing up for the timeshare schpeel, they might offer you free stuff in lieu of your time to hear about timeshare.

The room was beautiful, with butler service that was super nice. We did not like most of the food, too oily, too greasy, felt like a mass production, no taste, swimming in sauces. The drinks were so so, they did not have any mint the entire 5 days we were there to make drinks. Most drinks were too sweet. Very often they ran out of wine, they ran out of food as well, 3 days they ran out of smoked salmon in the morning, in the afternoons, they ran out of lamb chops at lunch. They also did not have dinner buffet at our hotel most evenings, we had to go to the sister resort for dinner buffet. It really did not feel like a 5 star resort. We spend a lot of money and were very disappointed. We were there for New Year's Eve and it did not feel festive or holiday vibes like some other resorts we have stayed at for the holidays. Decorations were minimal. Will not return and would not recommend to anyone. We visited a store there and purchased few items that I had a very difficult time returning. The store stated that they have no refund policy, that was not listed anywhere in the store. Very sad and fraudulent. Eventually they honored the return after we got the managers involved.

It only takes one person's experience to see a need for something to be in place that's not in place. Disappointed that the bag with the towels were NOT complimentary. Lost a couple stars.

So many wonderful things about this resort. Check-in was quick and seamless, we arrived before our check-in time, we were given wrist bands to enjoy the resort until our room was ready. They have a change room if you need it. Everything was clean and fresh. Activities were plentiful whenever you needed them. Staff was quick to help. Food was always stocked and you never had to wait for than a few minutes for anything, if you had to wait. The only disappointment was the specialty restaurants, you never knew if there was going to be a 2 hour wait or you could go in immediately. This made dinner plans difficult. Japanese food was good. French and Italian were not good (my opinion). Surf and Turf was just ok. The best bet is going to the buffet. Food is always stocked and tastes delicious! I would recommend his resort every single time. A winner for any vacation you plan.

Beautiful property but we had to rush and scramble to find shelter after the hurricane came and we couldn’t get better accommodation than 25% which still put us at over $400 a night and the airport is closed for the next 4 days. We were with a party of 35 people and feel because it was an act of nature, we could have gotten a better deal so that we could have shelled in place. $1600-1800 is a lot to pay after we already paid over $4000

Good experience at this resort. The food options were good except for the buffet. The food offered pool side, the steak, and hibachi restaurants, the day of the beach barbecue was delicious (especially the beach barbecue and at the Jamaican restaurant off the beach. Room service was even delicious! The staff were very helpful and accommodating! They made for me celebrating my birthday with my family a very memorable occasion.
Pros: Food options, the drinks alcohol/ non-alcohol were good, beach is clean, has plenty of chairs, beds and umbrellas. Entertainment was good.
Staff accommodating and very nice. Views from resort are beautiful. Our daughter had a pool view that was beautiful and we had an ocean front that was also beautiful.
Cons: Our initial ocean front room was on the 4th floor where the balcony doesn’t have a roof that completely covers it. It’s the rainy season so it was hard to enjoy the balcony due to the furniture being wet. However, the resort did accommodate us and moved us to the 3rd floor where the balcony was covered and we were able to enjoy the balcony. We truly appreciated that!
The snacks in the room are not individually wrapped and are in reusable containers that are refilled.
I am all for preservation for the eco system by not having excessive waste, however, I am curious how often and how these containers are cleaned and filled. Sterilized reusable water bottles are given for you to drink. Bring your own water bottle to fill at watering stations.

This is our 3rd time at the Grand/Joia.
5 years ago this hotel was stunning! We felt like celebrities. It’s still a nice hotel but has lost its wow factor. The rooms need a refresh and the beach has way too many sea weeds.
The service, food and entertainment is still good. The Staff is A1, always attentive and aim to please.

I would not consider this 5 star. Although the property is beautiful, clean, well maintained grounds and staff is amazing, the food needs work. Quality of the good is very inconsistent. Some days it's excellent, some days overcooked, and that goes for all restaurants and room service.

Not a big fan of how the pressure you into meeting with their representatives to try to talk you into their Interstate membership (basically like a time share presentations). Our concierge guilted us into saying yes for accepting the presentation and was dishonest on the whole process which was supposed to take place, once we found out the truth on the presentation we backed out at the last minute.

This really left a part of our overall experience disappointing.

Overall the best all inclusive I’ve been to. By far the best food options and restaurants, A+, drinks were good as well. We went during their offseason and we think the entertainment wasn’t as great for that reason. Other reviews said the entertainment was excellent. The beds were very firm. My group of 6 all complained about the rock hard beds. Not to nit pick, but thats really the only real negative we encountered. This is a resort my group of 6 said we would all come back to.

I didn't like that it was old and you could tell. The staff was great though. There weren't many activities which was a shame. I also didn't like that there was a lot of construction, one elevator was down the whole time and one of the days, both elevators were down so we had to use stairs and our room was on the top floor. Also a shame that their restaurants fill out so fast, hard to get in. Their french restaurant didn't have the lamb rack which is my favorite dish, another shame. They need more sweets/cakes too, those options were very limited.

This resort has both good and bad sides. The property itself is beautiful – the pools are amazing, the beach is nice (though not the best), and the restaurants serve good food.

However, the service was very disappointing and absolutely not what you expect from a 5-star resort. Only about 15–20% of the staff were attentive and polite; the majority were slow, unhelpful, and sometimes outright rude, even when asking for something basic like water. Service in the restaurants, bars, and buffet was extremely slow. One restaurant requires reservations, but in the others, we waited up to an hour just to be seated. Even at breakfast, we had to wait to be seated, and the hostess was often missing from her station.

Another big issue is that they don’t provide bottled water or straws anywhere on the property. For a luxury resort, this is unacceptable.

Housekeeping and room service were also very poor. Our room was not clean upon arrival, and throughout our stay service remained slow and unfriendly. The steakhouse was the worst experience – the hostess (Tasha) and her manager were unprofessional. Despite having a confirmed reservation from the feedback department, we were told we didn’t have one and were placed on a waiting list. This felt dishonest and was by far the worst service I’ve ever experienced at a resort.

This was our second stay this year. We didn’t hesitate to go back. At check-in, Donnae remembered us and even gave us an upgraded room. After checking us in, she walked us to our room making us feel welcome and completely at home. Then, of course, we made our way down to the pool bar where Shevaughn and Travis remembered us as well. Those two really know how to make a good time as well as being prompt with service. I highly recommend this resort. We may very well go a third time before the year’s end.

Si buscas un lugar tranquilo quizás pueda ser este lo que buscar, lo mantienen en buenas condiciones pero hay cosas que necesitan ser resaltadas para quien pueda servirle.
Tome una habitación con butler para hacer que mi estancia fuera más cómoda eran muy amables pero realmente el trabajo lo tenía que hacer yo, la comida fue espectacular en cada uno de los restaurantes pero hasta para esperar un vaso de agua era agobiante en la mayoría de las ocasiones, hay muchas cosas que perfeccionar no lo llamaría un hotel 5 estrellas para que otros clientes no crean que pagan por algo de ese nivel

Staff was generally excellent and place was very clean. Was definitely one of the smaller resorts I’ve been to so we were limited in activities and food options but our stay was shorter so not the biggest concern. Things were great until our second to last day when maintenance thought it would be a good idea to spray paint the room right next door to us with no notice while we were in our swim out pool and clouds of spray paint was coming right out at us even though they seen us out there before they even started. Made it worse is that we had one of those connecting room doors and fumes just poured into the room. Room was full of heavy paint fumes for rest of our stay. We asked for a room swap and was not accommodated even though there was plenty of vacancy. We had to stuff the bottom of the doors with wet towels and leave the balcony door open with the fans running to make it remotely tolerable but that meant sacrificing a/c. Needless to say last night was horrible! Super poor planning when we were leaving next day and that work couldve be done upon our check out. I also was not crazy about the constant harassment from the local drug dealers everytime I stepped on the beach. I can even respect the first solicitation but once I tell you no I expect to be left alone. I can understand that I’m in a different part of the world and maybe this is not a big dealover there but most resorts do a better job controlling the beach with that sort of stuff and this place didn’t even try.

Some foods request weren’t available. One day I never received my order poolside. They don’t tell you this until you receive the food. The beds were very comfortable. I did have to call twice throughout my stay to receive hand towels after they had service the room. Some of the staff for breakfast was rude. It took 40 minutes to receive room service. Dinner at Port Maria was a tragic. I asked the waitress for water and never received it, after mentioning it to her twice.

If you are on the fence…book it now. This place is paradise and I never wanted to leave. Best vacation I had in a long time. Food is 5 star, staff are so pleasant and accommodating. Everywhere was spotless.

Great property, clean staff was always helpful and attentive. This being adults only I legitimately forgot children existed for a few days - and can’t say I was mad at that lol. Lots of daily and night time activities/events if that’s what you’re looking for beach was well kept as well and not sure if we were lucky but zero sargassum to disrupt the vibes.
Food was OK not Great, drinks were really good especially at the lobby bar in the evening - 10/10 fully recommend.

The property is very visually appealing and clean. Even though JOIA itself was somewhat small “small” having access to the other two adjoining properties made up for that. Of the three, JOIA to us had the nicest beach as even though small it had way less of the plagued seaweed that is sweeping across the Caribbean. Staff were courteous and helpful. The Iberostar app needs a little work but overall it added a layer of convenience and organization to our stay. Events were listed clearly on app and throughout the properties. Last point is on the food. Overall, to us nothing was mind blowingly delicious but most everything was decent. Buffets had good selections and offered some traditional foods to Jamaica as well. Definitely would visit again sometime.

The resort was beautifully maintained, and the service was top tier! Every request was handled quickly and efficiently. The food at the restaurants was delicious. I enjoyed the fact that the resort was not overly crowded, and we were able to easily get seats at the pool and beach each day.

The bathrooms in the rooms could stand to be updated, but were otherwise clean and functional.

A great resort if you are looking for quiet relaxation, we would definitely return!

We love our stay here! Activities by the pool and beach daily. We canceled excursions to stay on the resort. Food was really good. With exception to the hibachi as it was not good at all. We cannot wait to go back!!! Thank you to our morning concierge Travis!! He was great
