In every area, our stay exceeded our expectations. Definitely get the romantic dinner for two: most exquisite meal we've ever had. Each course was phenomenal. Spa facilities were world class with fantastic view of Alps. Skip the outdoor pool; it was freezing cold. Bed and bedding was very comfortable. After working 20 years in surgery, I have very high standards for cleanliness: A here. Highly recommend.

A very old and classic hotel, comfortable room is clean spacious, thought my room was on the Main Street so it was noisy, windows are old not totally sealed , not noise-proof.Breakfast was amazing, staff was so friendly and professional.Other than that it was an amazing experience, wonderful as a whole.

Nice respite.

I really enjoyed my stay here-- it was relaxing, the spa was nice, and the food and service were both excellent. My only downsides were that there was no ability to control temperature in the room so was a bit warm, and there is not much in the area if you want to walk around/explore (though it's very easy to take the bus into the city).

True Austrian Spa Delight

Unexpected evening stay on way back to Frankfurt, the Romantik Hotel was an amazing surprise. Fabulous gym and spa - including infinity pool with amazing view. Hotel food was outstanding - both dinner and breakfast. And comes with free parking. Felt like the true Austrian mountain spa experience.

Would not recommend if there is more then 3 people in a room. Had to reserve 2 rooms, spoke to someone to help me get my family accommodated over the phone it seemed like things were good until we showed up the rooms were not together with a conjoining door like I was told they would be. Receptionist did not seem to care. It's a nice and fancy hotel but I absolutely would not stay here again.

An Austrian Alps Paradise

I chose to go to Salzburg for Christmas. After researching I found that I wanted peaceful, quiet, fairy tale-like and fun. This was this resort. It is about eight miles north of Salzburg and easily accessed by bus into the city. Only take fifteen minutes. The hotel is very old with a new edition across the street. I did not have the chance to see the rooms on the old side but was in the building a lot and feel that no matter the side you cannot go wrong. I was on the new side and the room was bigger than my London apartment. The tile floors were heated and there were floor to ceiling windows that let you view the sunset on the Alps right from your room. Giant bathtub or the biggest walk in shower and rain shower head I've ever seen. They gave me welcome snacks and because I was visiting during a holiday they had a set menu in the restaurant that was amazing. Actually ate there two nights in a room it was so good. There's a sweet little church next door that I got to attend. There is also an Infiniti pool that overlooks the mountains. I could not have asked for a more picturesque paradise of a place than this hotel and staff and if I'm ever in the area or see this hotel brand in other travels I would definitely consider it again. My Christmas was a pleasure thanks to the Romantik Hotel group.

Pleasant hotel, but not up to 4 star standard.

Although a nice hotel with friendly staff, the lack of air conditioning is a big minus. We arrived in September and temperatures hit 28-30 degrees. The summer must be unbearable. We were provided fans, but mosquitos were out in force. The fans were required all night. I had written to Romantik stating we were celebrating our 30th anniversary on our trip to Salzburg, but it fell on deaf ears as our room was very basic. I am surprised this is classed as 4 star.

Had a wonderful stay at the Romantik Hotel Gmachl. The rooms were beautiful and charming. The location was very quaint and there were great views of rolling hills from the indoor pool. Pool and hotel amenities were fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great place to stay if you're looking for romance.

if you want to sleep past 6am, move on!

Staff was fabulous, room was spotless, breakfast was delicious, and parking was provided without a problem, and pool is modern with infinity edges like the pictures. However, there are a couple things about this hotel that made us regret our stay: our bedroom was located on the side next to the church with a cemetery. the church bell rings every 15 minutes starting at 6am. this is quite annoying given the room doesn't have air conditioner so we needed to keep the window somewhat opened. be aware also that they have an old side and a new side across the street(new side contains the pool). pictures are of the new side. old building's rooms look dated. outside of the hotel, note that parking is expensive in the city of Salzburg.

So this hotel has two very different buildings. The room is very old and traditional. No air condition and very small. The hotel is over 600 years old, it is kept in good condition but the rooms are small and claustrophobic. The breakfast in the morning is really delicious and the hotel is decorated quite nicely. Now, there is a old traditional building where the rooms are and an amazing recreational building with a SPA and a pool with modern amenities.This building has amazing new amenities, a great pool with a few and a great spa. This building made it a well worth stay at the hotel. IT is great for couples to relax, lounge in and have fun. I didn't like our room, but this building made up for it, it was amazing.

If you are visiting Salzburg,this is the best place to stay (even if you have to drive 15 min).Nice and quiet location.We stay in the sweet.Room was big and clean.Breacfast is in very nice restorante,you get everything you emagine: fresh juice,champagne...The best part is saunas and infinity pool at the top floor.Right next to pool is a fire place,which makes place really romantic.By the sauna they have teas,coffee machine,all kind of waters.We really enjoyed staying in this hotel.Just the only complaint to hotels.com.We booked hotel for three person.At reservation they gave us one price,but when we arrive, hotel charge an extra 65 euro per night .This was a trap from hotels.com.Other wise this was absolutly beautiful and romantic stay

Had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best. It was exceptionally hot one day but the rooms do not have air conditioning. The second day it poured cats and dogs and so we could not enjoy the swimming pool.

We accidentally booked 3 rooms instead of 2 and only noticed the morning of our trip but even though the agreement said they could not be cancelled the hotel agreed to cancel the extra room. The staff were very pleasant and the food was great. The only problem was that we went on a very hot weekend and the room was very hot. It may have been better if the hotel could have lent us a fan. The grounds and pool were beautiful and it was definitely a hotel I would recommend.

Excellent food and bar. Unfortunately our rooms were immediately over the road and loading bay which was very noise from about 4 am onwards. Our friends had a particularly bad night and were exhausted in the morning. We could not open our windows due to the noise and there was no control of the room temperature so we were hot. We spoke to the reception about it on check out. There was no manager available. They said they knew it was a problem. These rooms should not be used.

Schönes Haus für Frühaufsteher :)

Schönes Hotel, sanft modernisiert, nettes Personal, Essen und Frühstück hervorragend. Minus: Pool bei schlechtem Wetter sehr klein (es gab vor allem den ganzen Samstag Nachmittag keine freie Liegen weil dort dauerhaft Handtücher abwesender Gäste lagen) und man muss wissen, dass ab 6 Uhr früh die Kichenglocken läuten. Also bei der Zimmerwahl ggf nach ruhigem Zimmer fragen, wir konnten leider nicht ausschlafen dort… dafür kann das Hotel nichts, aber es hat unseren Aufenthalt etwas getrübt.

Ist mein Lieblingshotel, bin nicht das 1.mal da, wirklich top:wellness, Frühstück-alles ausgezeichnet. Nur diesmal war das Zimmer auf der strassenseite:etwas Verkehr und laute Gäste, die aus dem Restaurant raus gehen und um Mitternacht Musik im Auto aufdrehen, haben mich ordentlich gestört.

Ein Satz mit X...

Ich vermute das Haus und der Service dürften unter anderen Umständen durchaus besser sein.
Es gab keinen Ansprechpartner und es war auch Niemand zu erreichen. An der Rezeption lag ein Zettel mit der Zimmerkarte. Do it yourself.
Das Zimmer war eiskalt - Heizung war bei der Anreise abgeschaltet.
Restaurant war geschlossen und in der Mini Bar herrschte gähnende Leere. Zwei kleine Flaschen Wasser waren vorhanden.
Ich konnte auch sonst nichts nutzen im Hotel.
Bei rund € 200.- für die Nacht blieb das 4 Stern Superior irgendwo am Straßenrand liegen. Ich habe meine Anliegen deponiert, aber keine Reaktion erhalten.
Es wäre besser gewesen das Hotel komplett zu schließen. Es hat nicht funktioniert es ein bisschen offen zu lassen. Sehr enttäuschend, leider.

Third time is a charm :

It is the third time in a row we stay at this family driven hotel and enjoy our stay at the Klosterhauf part of the hotel. The standard is good both with service, food and beverages, language and not at least the rooms and the rest of the facilities. The bus leaves to the city centre just nest to the hotel entrance, cost 5,4 € and taxi back with local products is approx 20-24 € We will definitely be back.

Insgesamt sehr schöne Anlage, sauber und gepflegt. Das Personal war sehr freundlich.Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet - reichhaltig, abwechslungsreich, frisch und insgesamt sehr gute Produkte - insbesondere die hausgemachten Marmeladen und das hervorragende Brot.
Im Gegensatz dazu war das 4-Gänge-Menü eher eine Enttäuschung. Man sieht, dass die Küche sich viel Mühe gibt, aber die Ergebnisse könnten mich nicht überzeigen. Der Fisch zu trocken, die Filetspitzen zu \"durch\" und dadurch etwas zäh, insgesamt zuwenig \"Überraschung\" bei den Zutaten. Enttäuschend auch der Kaiserschmarrn: zu viel Mehl, zu wenig Ei. Schade.
Der Wellness-Bereich ist schön und gepflegt. Handtücher sind (meist) in ausreichender Menge vorhanden, aber leider nicht immer. Der Pool im 3. Stock ist sehr schön, wenn auch etwas klein. Schwimmen ist eigentlich nur möglich, wenn max. 3 Personen im Pool sind.
Sehr gut: im Wellness-Bereich wird kaltes, teils aromatisiertes Wasser, Tee und Kaffee kostenlos angeboten. DIe Qualität stimmt auch.
Zusammenfassung: sehr schönes, gepflegtes Hotel mit noch etwas Potential nach oben. Insgesamt aber absolut empfehlenswert.

-Spa Bereich ist 1A. Zu Hochzeiten etwas schwer einen Platz zu bekommen. Abends ab 21 waren wir oft alleine.
Massagen sind zwar teuer aber jeden Cent wert
-Das Zimmer ist ok. Sehr hellhörig. Die Tür im
Durchgang vor unserem Zimmer war leider sehr laut und vor allem morgens deutlich zu hören.
Das Bett war grausam. Total durchgelegen. Nach 3 Nächten und Rückenschmerzen bei haben wir an dee Repetition gefragt. Bett wurde schnell ausgetauscht. Das war super. Das neue Bett war zwar nicht perfekt aber besser.
Am Tag der Anreise war die Badewanne voller schwarzer Haare.
-Servicepersonal hat leider jeden Morgen seinen Treffpunkt vor unserem Zimmer aufgeschlagen. Dazu war das Zimmer anscheinend direkt am Servicefahrstuhl. Daher waren wir jeden Morgen früh wach.
Dazu kam das Servicepersonal 2x ohne zu klopfen einfach ins Zimmer.
-Restaurant war qualitativ super. Top Frühstück und leckeres Abendessen.
Leider wurde am Sonntag neben uns schon abgedeckt obwohl wir noch am frühstücken waren.
Das Abendessen war teuer aber super.
Das Personal war nett aber leider war mehrmals zu beobachten wie eine Angestellte nach einem Gespräch mit einem Gast beim umdrehen die Augen verdrehte.
-Die Buchung war über Hotels.com einfach. Bei direkter Anfrage im Hotel wurde leider eine falsche Auskunft gegeben wodurch die Reise für uns etwas teurer wurde.
-Nach Salzburg sind es mit Auto 10 Minuten.
Toller Urlaub in dem ich etwas mehr vom Hotel erwartet hatte

Familiedrevet hotell med hyggelig betjening og historie. Har kun bodd på den nye delen med spa avdelig, her er standarden meget bra. Og fruen er meget fornøyd med behandlingene de har å tilby. Stive priser, som forventet i Østerrike og menyen på hotellet er noe begrenset. Derimot går bussen til sentrum og julemarkedet rett utenfor inngangsdøren 2 ganger i timen. Men man kan enkelt få en dag til å gå kun på hotellet hvis en ønsker det. Kommer til å reise tilbake her også neste år.

Übernachtung mit meiner Frau. Wir fanden das Zimmer nicht unbedingt komfortable. (12 Gelsen verewigt an der Wand. 3 Fliegen im Zimmer... warum kein Gitternetz ???). Die Dekoration des Zimmers war nicht wirklich vorhanden.
Spa ist sehr gut.
Restaurant gut aber überbewertet. Meine Frau hat die Hauptspeise zurückgegeben, zu salzig....

Vorab, das Hotel selbst liegt sehr Nahe an Salzburg und bietet den Besuchern ein gutes Zusammenspiel von „Ruhe mitten im Dorf“ und dem nahegelegenen Trubel in der Stadt! Wir hatten uns einen zweitägigen Wellness Urlaub übers Wochenende gegönnt. Und um es gleich auf den Punkt zu bringen, waren wir von der Atmosphäre (Romantikhotel) und den damit zusammenhängen Angeboten und Besuchern des Hotels nicht sehr angetan. Das war zum einen bedingt durch die von vielen Gästen an den Tag gelegte sehr „hochnäsige Art“ (gegenüber jüngeren Leuten eventuell) und den doch sehr überschaubaren Bereich im Welnessbereich gepaart mit den pfiffigen Preisen! Meine Freundin und ich fanden es sehr „snophaft“ wobei wir sehr oft in andern Hotels mit höheren Ansprüchen waren. Vielleicht waren wir da auch einfach nicht die Zielgruppe 😏
Was sehr positiv zu bewerten war, die sehr freundliche Art der Bedingungen. Ansonsten ist der kleine Trip übers Wochenende für Leute unter 30 nach gmachl keinesfalls sein Preis wert! Viele liebe Grüße

Tolles Hotel mit ausgezeichnetem Restaurant

Als Festspielbesucher ist dieses Hotel ideal, etwas außerhalb von Salzburg, ruhig, schöne Infrastruktur mit In-/Outdoorpool und äußerst bemühten, freundlichen Mitarbeitern.
Das Restaurant ist hervorragend, auch ohne Hotelaufenthalt immer eine Empfehlung wert. Die gesamte Betreuung während meines Urlaubes war tadellos.

Traditionelles Hotel mit schönem Wellnessbereich

In einem historischen Gebäude gelegen, strahlt das Hotel einen besonderen Charme aus. In den vielen Erinnerungsstücken und Dekoelemente im gesamten Haus, spiegelt sich die lange Geschichte des Hauses wider. Dadurch wirkt es in manchen Bereichen etwas unruhig und schwer (z.B. in der Bar) statt gemütlich, aber das ist sicher Geschmackssache. Besonders gelungen finde ich die Gestaltung des Frühstücksraum im Gewölbe.

Wir hatten ein Standard Zimmer das insgesamt in Ordnung war, das Bad allerdings schon recht klein.

Ausgesprochen schön ist der Wellness- und der Saunabereich. Dieser befindet sich auf dem Dach des gegenüber gelegenen Gebäudes und ist über einen unterirdischen Tunnel erreichbar. Der Ausblick ist phantastisch. Schade war, dass der Pool dermaßen kalt war, das wir ihn nicht genutzt haben. Tee, Kaffee und aromatisiertes Wasser stehen kostenlos zur Verfügung. Will man ein Getränk zur Liege mitnehmen, soll man dies in recht unappetitlichen Hartplastikbechern tun. Vielleicht gibt es da noch eine bessere Lösung.
Die Qualität der Speisen im Restaurant ist großartig und auch das Frühstücksbuffet ließ bei uns keine Wünsche offen.
Besonders positiv hervorheben möchte ich noch das Personal, das durchwegs ausgesprochen freundlich und zuvorkommend war.
Wir kommen gerne wieder, würden dann aber eine höhere Zimmerkategorie nehmen.

In dem immer wieder erweiterten Gebäuden finden sich angenehme Aufenthalts- und Restauranträumlichkeiten, lauschige Sitzplätze im Freien, moderne Spa/Sauna- und Fitnessbereiche, sowie entsprechende Tagungsräume für Konferenzen, alles im gepflegten Alpinstil mit modernen Behübschungen gestaltet! Man kann hier sicherlich einige entspannte Tage im Nahbereich von Salzburg verbringen!
Die günstigeren Zimmer verfügen leider nur über kleine Badezimmer und Duschmöglichkeiten in der Wanne,schade!
Das Angebot im Restaurant ist jedoch hervorragend!

Aufenthalt zwei Nächte: Sehr freundlicher Empfang beim Check in. Reservierung für Zimmer konnte nicht gefunden werden (Buchung erst am Vorabend), nach einer 1/2 Std. Wartezeit an der Hotelbar (incl. Gratisgetränk) kostenloses Upgrade in anderes Zimmer. Wellness-Bereich sehr schön und sauber, auch dort sehr freundliches Personal. Die beiden Abendessen sehr gut (Qualität der Produkte und Zubereitung, Service). Insgesamt ein sehr schönes Wochenende dort verbracht, das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt ebenfalls.

Einen Besuch wert

Ich war für drei Nächte im GMACHL und habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Der Empfang war freundlich und das Personal in der Bar und beim Frühstück sehr aufmerksam und höflich. Das Zimmer war ziemlich abgelegen, obwohl das Hotel nicht ausgebucht war, für mich in Ordnung. Das Bett war gemütlich und die Ausstattung sehr gut. Lediglich die Duschtür konnte nicht ganz geschlossen werden, was zu einer kleinen Überschwemmung führte. Die Reinigungskräfte sind sehr gründlich, leider auch sehr früh unterwegs - das fand ich nicht ganz optimal. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und köstlich mit vielen selbst hergestellten Speisen. Auch der Fitness- und Wellnessbereich lässt keine Wünsche offen. Nach dem Auschecken wollte ich allerdings nochmal für 2 Stunden in die Sauna, dafür wurden 12 € fällig, bei dem Zimmerpreis finde ich diese zusätzlichen Kosten unnötig. Die beiden Massagen während meines Aufenthalts waren allerdings sehr gut und absolut empfehlenswert.

Im großen und ganzen habe ich mich sehr wohl gefühlt und würde das Gmachl empfehlen und wieder besuchen.

Wunderbare Tage im Gmachl

Sehr gutes und reichhaltiges Frühstück und das Beste bis 11.00 Uhr -das ist toll.
Zimmer sehr schön, das Bad toll und die Wellness - Oase im 3. Stock ein Erlebnis.
Auch der Hund hat sich sehr wohl gefühlt.

schönes hotel mit enttäuschendem Zimmer

Schöner Wellness Bereich jedoch war das Zimmer im Altbau gelegen mit einem Mikro Bad, keiner Möglichkeit die Temperatur zu regeln, generell sehr kleinem und sehr hellhörigem Zimmer. Weit entfernt von 4*S.
