We enjoyed the location, right across from Hyde Park and near restaurants and a grocery store. The breakfast buffet was quite nice. However, our room was not very comfortable. The mattress was extremely firm, and the floor tilted visibly from one side of the room to the other so that the foot of the bed was a bit higher than the head. The air conditioner was also very loud!

We stayed 5 nights at des Gobelins in July. My family and I had a great stay. The rooms are a little on the small side, but we booked two rooms for the 4 of us and the hotel was very accommodating to have them beside one another. It was tough to have two suitcases open and walk freely around room, but was not that big of a deal. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and bright. The street in front of the hotel can be noisy, but with the windows closed, it was surprisingly quiet. Bathrooms were clean and larger than expected. Big lobby, so not crowded when checking in.
The hotel was close to Metro stations (and Buses) so very easy to get around. Lots of nice Boulangerie, restaurants and grocery stores within easy walking distance from hotel. The neighbourhood seems vibrant and safe. It was easy to get from the major attractions to the hotel as well, so it was not a hassle to go back in the afternoon to have a break. Our rooms had A/C so was very comfortable temperature, as Paris was very hot when we were there.
We choose not to have the breakfast, so cannot comment on that. The hotel does have an elevator, but it is very small and tight, so quicker to use stairs if you can.
Overall it was a great stay. If you are looking for a nice little hotel for good value, I would recommend Des Gobelins.

A well-located hotel with a personal touch

I spent 5 nights with a friend at the Hotel des Gobelins. The beds were extremely comfortable and everywhere was very clean. All staff, at reception, in the breakfast room or cleaning the rooms, were extremely friendly, proud of what they were doing and very helpful. They considered themselves part of a \"family\", which really made a difference to our stay. There was a family atmosphere, personal touch which can't be found in many hotels!
We didn't need our towels to be replaced everyday, but they were. Perhaps there could be a clearer system in place so that staff know that towels don't need replacing every day.

Cute hotel, well located in the lovely 13th arrondissement, with everything you need close by and buses and metro to take you all over the city. Elegant simple decor. My room was an odd mix of olde-world, lovely sculpted cast iron radiator, but also AC and a modern bathroom. The room was compact and tight on places to put clothes. I was alone. With two guests the room may have felt a bit crowded. Very comfortable big bed. Mini-fridge a welcome touch. The people who run it were friendly and helpful.

Our 4 person room was right, with the sofa bed extended it almost reached the wall and there is a tiny space to shuffle through to the bathroom. We backed onto the main street which was noisy with construction across the street, especially since we needed to sleep with the windows open.

The staff was extremely friendly and the location is near a metro station and some beautiful walking streets in the Latin Quarter. We found breakfast just down the street, much cheaper than the €16 offered by the hotel.

This is a little gem of a find this hotel. The reception staff every single day had the biggest smiles to greet you and made you feel so welcome. The rooms were so clean. We had a front facing superior room and ample big enough for 3 family members. Even though facing the road we were never disturbed by any noise. Looking out of the window daily to take in all that Paris was giving was Fantastic. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and linen. Breakfast we only had once but it was wonderful and a great selection. It’s a gem because the metro to endless places is around the corner. We went back to the airport via metro and train and even went to Disneyland Paris from the metro around the corner. Walking to all kinds of areas from the hotel. Always feeling safe. It’s a gem and we will be returning and hoping this little gem gets all the praise it so deserves

The location of this hotel is really good - literally minutes away from a metro and 20 mins walk to the Seine. The room was a good size and was clean. The only thing was that the carpet was oddly quite wet. I mentioned this to the desk who said they had this complaint a lot from other rooms as well and they were sorry. We had a room facing onto the main road and it was very noisy all night with traffic. There was also quite a bit of noise from the hotel corridor. Overall it was comfortable, especially for the price. I would return again.

I’ve stayed at a few Paris hotels that were similarly priced, but this one stands out for a few reasons. Although the room was small (which is standard at this price point), the bathroom was a little larger than other places I’ve stayed, and the water pressure in the shower was amazing! And plenty of hot water! Also the mini fridge in my room worked really well (sometimes they don’t). The hotel is also very close to 2 different metro lines, making it very easy to get anywhere. And the very charming Place George Moustaki and rue Mouffetard are an easy walk.

The rooms in the Grand Hotel Gobelins are typical size for old school Paris - that is, very small with minimal table/desk space for luggage/personal items. The rooms are clean and outfitted with coffee/tea service, and are generally well lit and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The bathrooms was very bright and clean, though I did need to have a towel replaced that had a small stain.

The front desk staff and other hotel staff are friendly and very accommodating. Overall, it's a decent hotel if you just need a room to spend overnight time in. The Gobelins Metro stop (Line 7) is easily accessed around the corner; however, the next nearest stops are a bit of a walk, including Campo-Formio which does not have a well-lit path. Easy enough to utilize Uber instead.

We had a triple room. Dirty carpets, fold out couch was so squeaky that it kept everyone awake, a/c was either freezing cold or off. Fan from a/c cycled on every minute or so and was very loud, floors were so creaky to walk on that it woke everyone up if someone went to bathroom in the night.

Really enjoyed my stay in Grand Hotel des Gobelins. Very good location - walking distance to many attractions, shops and restaurants, close to metro. My room was on the 6th floor, amazing view to Pantheon and Eiffel tower. The windows of my room were overlooking Bd St Marcel, however it was quiet, there was no noise. The room was nice and clean, good size for Paris, the bathroom was also in a very good condition. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

We have visited Paris many times but this was our first time at Le Grand Hotel des Gobelins. We did not want to be in the touristy area but still close to the places we would visit. This hotel was perfect. It’s in a real Parisian neighborhood and it is an absolutely charming art nouveau hotel! From the staircase to the windows to the bathroom and the room itself….everything was great!! The service was friendly and the room was spacious and very clean with the quietest AC I have experienced in an European hotel! They do offer breakfast for a fee but we chose to go to the nearby Boulanger for pastries and coffee. There are lots of restaurants and a large grocer nearby as well as the metro. I would stay here again the next time I’m in Paris!

Pros: It is centrally located and so close to major attractions. The room is neat, clean and friendly staff. Kettle is availabe and so atleast we can make our own tea and hot coffee (with cold milk).
Cons: toilet is very tiny, diffiicult to get in and out. No fan and it was hot during night (Aug). if u keep the window open it is noisy as it is on the main road. room is pricy as well.

This place had no AC, room had smoke smell. As soon as I got in the room, I started sneezing and itching. I saw cockroaches around as well. Ran back to the lobby to leave this place, guy at the counter refused to return money. Leftthe hotel, stayed on the streets all night as all other hotels were booked. Modern room that was a good size. They are in the process of updating rooms. Galley style bathroom with good hot water. Nice linens, towels and room amenities.Friendly desk clerks on duty 24 hours and speak English. Clerk gave us advice on airport transport and offered us a corkscrew and glasses when they saw us bring in a bottle of wine. Great location near metro station, restaurants and shopping. Didn't opt for the breakfast, but purchased grab and go items from the grocery store a few buildings down the street. Good wi-fi. The only drawback was the slow elevators.

We really liked how close we were to things. It has a friendly staff which is fluent in multiple languages. The room size was efficient, bathroom was large by European standards. The only thing that was a detractor was the construction going on in the room above, but aside from that we would totally recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

The hotel was ideally located for a short stay in Paris. Safe area.
The hotel staff were always very accommodating and friendly, any problems were addressed immediately. The room and shared areas were very clean. My room had been recently decorated and only downside was that the room next door was being updated, so noise from work disturbed a lay in.
The room had no air con which was fine as I could leave the window open through night, but street noise was loud 24/7 and in mid Summer would be an issue.

Hotel provided comfortable stay at a convenient location in Paris. The room was not big as you would expect in Paris. One has to be creative as to how to manage suitcases and space but I would not trade in more space with the experience staying at Grand Gobelins. The staff are great, the rooms clean, the area quiet in the evening. I will stay at this hotel at my next trip to Paris.

Perfect little hotel

It's a great little hotel in an ideal location. Right next to two lines of metro (line 7 takes you straight to Louvre) and multiple buses (direct bus to Notre-Dame and direct bus to Musee D'Orsay). Plenty of places to eat, an amazing bakery right across the street, and a well-stocked food supermarket just steps away. It's also a perfect location to be very close to landmarks, but feel like you are not among the tourists. The immediate area is very residential.
The rooms are very clean and the hotel staff is very-very nice. The customer service was beyond the expectations.
Will definitely be back!

We quite enjoyed our 4 day stay at this hotel. Great staff, close to reasonably priced restaurants,super breakfast provided, close to metro station, and about a 20 minute walk to Port Royal train station that connects directly with CDG Airport.
Hotel is under renovation, and when completed should be quite nice. Room was nice with adequate space, storage and a functional bathroom.
European breakfast provided was very good, with lots to eat. Great way to start your day.

Generally we like this hotel, but dang was it small. There was no place to store our luggage or put out clothes (other than a small hanger area). Every day we had to get dressed one at a time, pulling luggage out, get what you need, and then stick it back in the corner.

Otherwise, good location, close to metro. Friendly, helpful staff.

On the down side our room was so small that we could only open the door about a foot before it hit the bed. This made getting in and out of the room difficult and we were almost not able to get our luggage into the room.

We got placed in a room with construction going on. Wasn't happy without it, switched rooms the next day was significantly better. Employees are very helpful and attentive. Close to the metro and a few coffee shops.

close to metro and bus stops

We had a lovely time and the best part was the hotel was just 2 min walk to the metro station and couple of bus stops. Easy to go everywhere. There is a supermarket near the hotel also lots of restaurants near the hotel. So the overall stay was really good.
