Lovely resort, poor value and quality food

The resort itself is beautiful and peaceful. Staff were really kind but didn’t always get food orders right. The food is average and massively overpriced which would prevent us from going back.

A lovely peaceful, friendly and quiet hotel

An amazing hotel with lovely friendly and welcoming staff. It felt like being welcomed into someone's family for a week. The room was spacious and well maintained. The food in Coast 2 Coast was fantastic and the staff were so accommodating. A lovely peaceful, friendly and quiet hotel for a relaxing holiday.

Lovely hotel 50mins drive from airport - comprises of villas only. Well maintained modern/ colonial type decor. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food is excellent- exceeded expectations. 3 restaurants on site, plus you can use your credit at the 3 restaurants at the Sands Hotel next door ( sister hotel). Snorkelling on site not great, but they offer complimentary snorkelling trips further out. Beach is lovely but beach beds could do with new mattresses. Spa is very busy and good- needs booking in advance. Flic en Flac public beach nearby with local restaurants and shops, but most sights need a cab/car to get to. Driving is same as in UK.

We had a wonderful week at Maradiva in November 2021. There are so many positives it’s difficult to remember to list them all: stunning location, perfect tropical beach, warm seas, large comfortable and stylish private villas, good food, exceptional warm and friendly service, beautiful spa… I could go on. The two things that really make Maradiva stand out from other luxury properties we have stayed in are the space and sense of exclusivity (you are never crowded at Maradiva, you are always treated as an individual) and the wonderful friendly and courteous staff who make you feel so welcome.

Fantastic villa room, just wow. Loved the space. Including outdoor lounge and private pool. Especially loved the bathroom which was huge and also had an outdoor shower experience as well as indoor which we thought was a beautiful touch. The service was fantastic. The spa had a huge warm jacuzzi pool which served as a great winter pool which we really appreciated. The only downside was the lack of a black out curtain in the bedroom but it is very private so we didn't feel overlooked. Otherwise just brilliant.

Staying for our honeymoon we were looked after from the moment we arrived.
The staff were quite responsive and assisted where requested. We were often approached for any assistance.
Our villa was directly opposite the beach with direct views of the water. (This although beautiful did not provide much privacy for our personal time.)
Dining experiences were great although a standard bottle of wine usually AUD30 was inflated to approx AUD120! A 400% increase!! That was a joke. Water at breakfast was free but incredibly expensive at lunch or dinner.
The only other issue we had was a turn down service attending at 10pm. Thought that a little too late in the evening.

We will be back again

This was a second time to visit Maradiva and we were again impressed with it. Having private villa with plunge-in pool is fabulous, beach is nearby, staff is very professional and responsive. Amazing garden with hundreds of different plants. Great location, but recommended to have a car for trips around the island.

Nice hotel let down by Housekeeping

The Hotel claims check in is at 2pm but we were kept waiting until 2.45pm and other guests spoke of similar experience. The bathroom floor was dirty and stained and indoor shower head blocked so both needed attention. Subsequently, manager was shown bad staining around the bath which was immediately evident on walking in but nothing was done about it. Totally unacceptable for a \"Leading Hotel of the World\". On the plus side, the staff were very friendly, especially in the dining areas and the Japanese restaurant was exceptional. The villa design with interior and external seating areas and the swimming pools, both in the villa and the main one, and the gym facilities were all excellent. The gardens were nice but more attention needed to be given to watering the lawns evenly to avoid so many dried out areas.

Incredible Service and Beautiful Resort

Our stay at Maradiva was one of the most incredible experience I have ever had on vacation. The resort is beautiful and is exclusively designed to house private villas with their own pools. The common areas and landscaping is amazing and the services and amenities are excellent. They have a wonderfully equipped SPA and Yoga studio with highly knowledgeable and skilled staff. When it comes to the villas things are just as great. Our villa was beautiful and luxurious with our own private terrace and pool right on the beachfront (with private access) and the room itself was also very spacious and comfortable. The food at the resort though did leave a bit to be desired (breakfast and dining a la carte at the main restaurant were average experiences and lacking in variety, but the seafood we had during our private romantic dinner on the beach was outstanding which made up for the rest of the dining experiences. Finally there is the service and friendliness of the staff at the resort. The staff went over and above to ensure that we had a amazing and memorable experience during our stay. The concierge team helped us to plan and book our entire week's itinerary recommending restaurants and activities for us and the hotel was more than happy to provide us with another villa during on our last day to accommodate our late checkout in the evening and allow us to use the spa amenities as well as providing us with free transportation to the airport. We would highly recommended this resort!

Great hotel

We enjoyed the hotel facilities, its location and the hotel staff. It wasn't long before we were known by name to a number of staff members who always greeted us with a smile and excellent service. [ A particular thumbs up for Avi who went out of his way to look after us].

The beach was beautiful and the facilities were in excellent condition. At the time of our trip there were a few days which seemed very quiet which was great for us to have a relaxing break.

The hotel arranged for a top quality trip on catamaran, which was one of our highlights.

A wonderful little place to escape to!

To summarize? We'll return! What a wonderful place to find, with a lovely beach (be mindful of a rip tide 20ft out.. small children should be okay in the first 10-15ft), amazing infinity pool and ultra friendly staff. Also, the free WiFi worked great everywhere we went - room, pool, beach.

Bad experience with overrated hotel

This hotel is simply overrated. It is lacking in professional services. We had many issues with cleaning the rooms, etc. we had overlooked rice and the think the surcharge on the half board is unfair. Will not recommend this hotel

Hotel facilities are nice. Close to main attractions in the South. Food is the best among all 3 five-star hotels I stayed in Mauritius. Beachfront pool villa is great but looks a bit different what's posted over the website, which I suggest should be amended. My beachfront pool villa is not directly adjacent to the beach as posted but with certain distance. Staff are friendly and okay, but it's not easy to get a buggy during rainy days (we waited half an hour just to get a buggy during heavy rain and our villa is at the farthest end of the resort).

Treated like royalty

Had an amazing honeymoon in Mauritius staying at Maradiva. The staff were all so friendly, smiled and said hello as you passed them along the pathways (even if they were busy working). The continental breakfast was sensational! Who needed lunch after a spread like that! We were delivered sweet treats in the late afternoon and welcomed with a few vouchers as a part of a honeymoon package. The concierge organised a hire car for us to explore the island ourselves and at such a good rate. I had hurt myself and reception gave me daily band aids/plasters for me to use rather than finding a pharmacy and purchasing them myself.

We had an amazing experience and will definitely be visiting again, maybe for an anniversary.

Lovey hotel with kind and accommodating staff

We had a wonderful stay at the Maradiva over New Years. The rooms are all very private and large with beautiful pools with large sunbathing beds. Our room had beautiful outdoor space as well as comfortable bed and bath inside.

My husband became sick when we were there (not to any fault of the hotel) and the hotel was so helpful and kind. They let us stay in a villa much later than check out since our flight was in the evening, which was a huge help as my husband wasn't in any condition to go to the beach. The staff are all so friendly.

The beach is gorgeous and quiet - no need to flight over sun beds. Highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing, romantic holiday.

Beautiful property with some issues

Beautiful setting of spacious villas in beautiful gardens but not run professionally enough to create a luxury experience. Nice rooms, large well-appointed bathrooms, once patio area, but individual pools no heated at all and not getting any sun, so unusable most of the time. Overall infrastructure is great - good gym, nice interior, lovely gardens. But the beach isn't great - badly maintained, absolutely covered in leaves and algae all the time; you can't swim in the sea off their beach as it's very shallow (about 5 inches deep) and the boat trip for swimming goes out only once a day at 12pm! The biggest let down is the quality of food which is poor and unhealthy, with patchy service. Terrible breakfast, with not a single healthy option available - everything comes floating in oil, fruit is not ripe, sometimes orders don't arrive at all. Nothing healthy on the menu for lunch either! The spa is not professionally run - whilst the staff are very friendly and keen, they don't have sufficient training to carry out the services they offer, all the attempts were poor. The redeeming feature of the place is it's lovely, helpful and very friendly stuff. It's a stunning property but unfortunately not run to the standards one would expect for a luxury property.

Our villa was more than we hoped for. Absolutely 10/10. Huge air conditioned bedroom. Beautiful bathroom with walk in shower with glass wall , outside shower , bath, separate toilet and bidet. Outside we had a lovely private plunge pool with day bed next to it for sunbathing and also a covered outdoor seating area which was lovely for late evening drinks. Overall the villa was fabulous. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful well maintained, landscaped grounds. Great array of free watersports offered including snorkelling, sailing, kayaking and water skiing. Free bike hire and gym. Lovely beach with sun loungers 3 minutes walk from our villa. Lovely spa with Staff always on hand with free water and or other drinks if required.
Huge choice of good food for breakfast. We did not have dinner at the hotel as we felt it was expensive and we were keen to eat a wider range range of local food in some excellent nearby restaurants just a short taxi ride away.
We would strongly recommend the hotel to anyone

Could have been so much better.

Firstly the good part. The villas are superb, well furnished and the external area with day bed and pool couldn't be bettered. The hotel has a good sports complex and beautiful landscaped gardens, so little expense has been spared on the important parts.

However, it falls short on atmosphere. Most evenings there was no entertainment and the service was slow. It is crying out for an experienced Resort manager to take control because it could be a great hotel.

Nice private villa close to beach

I stayed in the garden villa because i wanted full privacy. We had a garden view villa and i asked if i could get more privacy so they put up a net in the garden for me so no one was able to look into our villa. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I went for our honeymoon and birthday stay and the staff helped us make our stay enjoyable and one to remember. They made a lovely chocolate cake for my birthday and my husband had arranged a romantic dinner at the beach. We had an amazing stay. I would definitely go back and recommend maradiva. Only downfall that we went in september where the weather is warm but not hot and the villa swimming pool does not have warm water..it feels really cold which stopped us from using it, even tho a private pool was one of the biggest reason for me booking in first place. We only used the pool once because of the temperature of water. They were few mosquitos and bug issue on first day but the staff quickly resolved that problem.

Absolutely amazing stay!

I cannot say enough good things about Maradiva. The villas are simply unbelievable -- so incredibly spacious. Both the indoor and outdoor showers are amazing and the private villa pool is beautiful night or day. We were there for a second honeymoon in the off season -- late July. I had feared that it might be too cool, and it was a little cool when the sun was not out, but I still enjoyed a brisk swim in the villa pool and an outdoor shower each morning. I also waded in the ocean though it is only waist deep all the way out to the coral breakers. The heated pool is lovely and the spa is beautiful and also has its own heated pool. The service is world class. They don't bother you unnecessarily, but whatever you need they will make it happen. I highly recommend the lobster barbeque with wine pairing on the beach.

Beautiful hotel, great relaxing atmosphere

Maradiva was wonderful. Peaceful, tranquil and beautiful surroundings. We spent a week in September and it was gorgeous.
Hotel staff were accommodating, pleasant and provided an excellent service.
Spa was a great experience and a little expensive but well worth it.
The half-board selection at the restaurant were limited but again very pleasant. It was a great holiday and will definitely recommend it. I just wish I had longer to spend in the country.

Fantastic resort, a 'must' stay!

We were there for our honeymoon.We absolutely loved our stay. We arrived early at 8:30am.The hotel staff greeted our arrival with hot hand towels and juice whilst the receptionist helped us with check-in.
We opted for the luxury garden suite, which is very near to the restaurant Coast2Coast ( where we have our breakfast). It is also near to the hotel pool and beach. It is a great location if you want more privacy.The room was amazing. It has its own private pool. Room is spacious and the bed is so comfortable.
They also provide twice a day room service where staff comes to change your towels and sort out our rooms.
There are 3 restaurants there, Coast2Coast which is the main one and Cilantro indian restaurant and Japanese restaurant. They all provide a wide range of food, good food. The staff there are always helpful. You must try the cilantro restaurants. The japanese teppanyaki restaurant serves very delicious teppanyaki steak. The indian restaurant serves very good variety of indian food.
Cocktails in this hotel is yummy and our favourite is Lychee Ti-punch.
Overall, I would say this is an excellent hotel, with excellent service.

Everything about MDVR&S is 7 stars. The people are friendly, courteous, professional and highly skilled in their respective posts. It seems unfair on the others to pick out individuals but Chef Ravi surely deserves international recognition. And a thoroughly nice man too!
Nazil, behind the bar felt like a personal friend, by the time we had to leave. He could well know every cocktail recipe that exists.
The restaurant staffs were superb: quick to respond to every request and determined to understand exactly what was required, I am a vegan and my partner a vegetarian and our usual experience is one of inadequate menus. But not at Maradiva: every meal was a delight!
My every expectation was exceeded. I did not realize that such holidays were possible!.

Our Honeymoon in Paradise

This was the perfect place to stay for our honeymoon as its very romantic and allows for enough privacy. we hired a car for a few days to explore the rest of the island and was also needed to get anywhere from the resort. The options for dinner within the resort are limited and very expensive, so ended up going out on most nights or grabbing some food on our way back in from a day out. The days we stayed in, we used all the facilities, which were the highlight of our stay and meant that we returned feeling extremely relaxed. The spa is great with sauna, steam and heated pool free to use, the best was sitting in the pool in the evening under the stars! (Very romantic), but apart from our free couple massage (honeymoon special), we couldn't afford to indulge in any treatments due to price. Breakfast options were great as you can order from the menu, but this sometimes took too long to arrive. There were also too many flies on our food and on the buffet that we were mostly put off by breakfast. On 3 occasions there was also bird poo on our seats. Other than this, we had a great experience with a mixture of relaxation and activity packed into our honeymoon. The scenery was amazing, private beach was perfect and sitting by the main pool ordering cocktails and food was a delight. We would like to return on an anniversary in the future!

Great rooms but restaurant service could be better

The hotel villas are very nice and with your personal pool included. Service at the beach and infinity pool are also very good. The hotel location on the west of the island is perfectly protected from the wind. Only area slightly disappointed is the restaurant where service is not bad but definitely not at the level of a 5* hotel and the menu is nothing special and you can eat better food outside in flic-en-flac at half the price

Far off relaxing from the busy crowd

Great stay no doubt! Service is not up to standard for a 5 star hotel that I am used tyo with Indian spoiled with Uday Villas in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Service for dinner at Coast to Coast on first day was pathetic. We were walking out when we got stopped to sign our bill. ..... Suggestion: TRAIN your hotel staff like TAJ (India) chain trains, or the SERENA hotel chain trains in Africa for 'customer focus'. Learn from SERENA in Nairobi, Kenya.

Great exclusive villa resort

Great place to spend honeymoon. Id probably say do either half board or eat in flic en flac a few times as the resort food and drink is v expensive but the food and service is excellent. Could be a hot tub in spa for use and the villa private pools ought to be heated but this is a top class resort and i wouldnt be allowed to stay anywhere else in mauritius as my wife loved it so much!

The staff couldn’t have been nicer, including the managers,but they could be a bit smarter.I was told that there is a Japanese/Indian restaurant called Cilantro and you need to make a reso,really its two restaurants in the same building and you have the choice of one or the other.They were accommodating and made an exception to order off of either menu,but it was a bit confusing.At breakfast the staff spoke of \"Lobster BBQ\" but when calling the Dining Line,they said it wasn't not tonight,they corrected and apologized.Hotel confirmed my return airport transfer,which was never requested as I had a rented car.Had to talk to them 2x to understand.Upon checking out none of the credit card machines worked.Finally after 10 minutes one did,then another went through charging my card 2X.Again the staff was very apologetic and fixed the issue.The housekeeping team was great,they bring you afternoon sweets that changed daily.The villa was made up very well.The food in coast to coast although beautiful in presentation lacked flavor.A little salt/sugar/spice and they would have had the full package.The spa is very nice,a little over priced but nice.My big complaint is the king bed which is really two single beds together and you could use one side or the other as the middle was a hard bump.The soaps and toiletries were very nice.The managers were great and remembered guests and ask you how you are.Just a little training,some seasoning on the food and new mattresses and this place is great

The hotel is one hour away from the airport by car. the staff are super nice and helpful, they speak both English and French. The villas are nice, big and equipped with what you need. Just to put in mind that you have your own pool but it is not 100% private because people can pass in front of it either when they are walking on the beach. The breakfast buffet is nice but the choices are not as big as I though it would be, there is an Indian restaurant which is amazing and also a Japanese restaurant but unfortunately I did not try. there is a boat house there which provide free sea activates and it also can organize trips for you (I really recommend the dolphins package)

Deceptive description of beachside villa

Paid up for a \"beachside villa\" but was given a villa in the second row with a sliver view of water. Management made many excuses and tried very hard to avoid any responsibility. Staff was slow at everything; had to wait an unreasonable time for everything we requested, often over an hour and usually having to repeat the request 2 or 3 times. The breakfast buffet was terrible, with food always on the floor under the tables and flies on all the food at both the tables and the buffet itself. The hotel should invest in equipment to cover the food like at virtually every other hotel.

We totally enjoyed staying at Maridiva. Our villa was fabulous. We had split our week between two resorts, the first was Trous aux Biches Resort & Spa, which was wonderful, however we were happy we ended our stay at Maridiva as we much preferred the Maridiva resort. Wonderful staff, great food, great facility.

Beautiful Resort Villas

We selected to stay in this resort in January 2014 after careful review of the available similar facilities in the Island. The resort is situated on the south west side of the island, which is not far from shopping mall, but away from the city of Port L. and away from the windy east coast if you happen to come on the Island's winter.
The resort has beautiful spacious architecture with views to the beach or the landscape. The staff were friendly, personal and non pretentious. It is oriented towards honeymooners, as they accept only two adults per villa. Larger villas can accept an additional person in the living room. The beach is clean and well maintained, but at our visit no waves for surfers. Since the Islanders go to sleep early you will probably eat your meals at the good restaurants of the resort. We will probably chose this resort if we come again.

we just had 5 days at the Maradiva
lovely resort we had a beachfront walkout great room
Service at breakfast Coast to Coast needs attention service very slow meal came out at separate times my husband had finished his cooked breakfast by the time mine arrived!
Bird poo on cushionn seating!
and table place mat when the waiter was told he put a napkin over it!!!
Admittendly the next day was somewhat better but eating breakfast was a nightmare the flies nearly eat us alove very uncomfortable couldnt wait to leave the resturant!
This comment is inly based on breakfastand the resturant not overall as the staff at the resort were very helpful

Exclusive resort with the highest level of service

We stayed at Maradiva for our honeymoon and wish we could've stayed longer. The resort was absolutely amazing - the private beach (which is not crowded and allows for plenty of privacy) is literally on the doorstep and the facilities and complimentary services made the whole experience memorable. It's a great mix of activities and relaxation, depending on your mood. We could lounge by our private villa pool or the main pool with drinks from the bar. The service is the best I've ever encountered and is above any other 5* hotel I've stayed at before. You literally don't have to lift a finger and the staff anticipate your wants/needs before you even do to make you even more comfortable and relaxed. Maradiva is located on a strip next to other luxury resorts but anyone will tell you that it is a cut above all the others for the experience and service it offers. We would often go to the restaurant/bar at night where there would be a variety of evening entertainment which created a really nice atmosphere without getting boring. I would highly recommend having a private dinner on the beach organised by the restaurant with your own personal chef and waiter. The buggy service was really helpful in getting us around the resort. In sum, we felt like celebrities and dreaded coming back to the reality of our normal lives!

the great escape

Very good service, mostly local staff who knew how to balance attentiveness and privacy. Food is also very good, in particular at the Japanese/Indian restaurant where sercvice is also one notch better than in the main restaurant. Didn't use the main pool at all, not necessary as all villas have their own (small & unheated pool for cooling down after beach days. As it was our honey moon we appreciated the privacy, space and high level of service. Hotel has a kids club but we never saw any kids around. The resort is ideal for couples. We really enjoyed the beach front location and would go for that again if we return which we'd love to). Don't forget to ask for specials when you make the reservation if you are going there on honey moon.

Perfect romantic resort

The perfect balance of great service and the staff knowing when to leave you to enjoy the beach, pool or your villa in peace. Both the resort restaurants serve have great food and the breakfast is varied and cooked to order. The beach is the longest and best section in Flic en Flac well served by beach hut staff who once they know you will even move your sun beds into the right position as you walk up the beach towards them. The Villa's pools are only plunge pools really but fun if you don’t want to see any other guests all day your butler will bring all your meals to you if you want. The main infinity pool was empty most of the day even though we were told the resort was at 90% capacity as most people didn’t come out of the own Villas, or were dotted around the length of the beach.
