We were booked on this hotel. They claimed they were full and transferred us to a 4 star Exec Colon hotel nearby. It was not a four star. Hotel was very dated and had no AC. In the middle of the night we were sweating and asked for fans. They did provide fans but not the hotel

La propiedad necesita reparación , abres una ducha y a la hora sale el agua caliente, en los baños no hay secadoras de pelo, las cortinas llenas de huecos,no cierran, llegamos y nos dieron una habitación, que parecía una cárcel, hablé con la recepcionista y me dijo q si no me convenía (11:30 de la noche llegue) que tenía q llamar a Expidia, cuando me cambio para la habitación la cual había escogido yo y pagado, ya que en las fotos se veía fenomenal, Expidia ponía una habitación buena, es la q explico , había un frío, horrible, no te dicen, ni de calefacción, muy grosera, la q nos recibió esa noche , al otro día domingo fuimos a desayunar, no han visto en su vida un desayuno bueno, Todo frío, ni donde calentarse, Café Si a eso se le puede llamar café???
Sin embargo al otro día la rubia y la trigueña muy atentas las dos y el muchacho de la noche, el día antes de irnos nos dijeron sabían IDs que tenían desayuno aquí !!! Y le dijimos deben mejorarlo, ósea pagamos por algo q no consumimos,
Porque si sabia la recepción que teníamos una habitación mejor que a las que nos llevó no nos la dio desde el primer momento cuando íbamos a estar una semana allí???
Definitivamente expidia debe mejorar y ver lo que oferta, es la compañía q uso por muchos años y espero q analicen bien lo que venden,
Viajo y compro siempre a través de Expidia pero no dejo de reconocer que hay también otras muy buenas !! Espero que analicen bien lo que venden

Terrible experience

This was officially the first hotel I ever stayed in. Room was very run down, shower broken,WiFi only worked on the first floor, location is very convenient but not safe at all, especially for families with kids. No hairdryer in the room. When u came down to the reception to ask for the thirstier, they had 4 and all of them were unsafe to use. Only one power outlet worked in the room. I strongly suggest to stay away from this property as it is terrible inside and location is dangerous.

Could be better I reserved a room pictured on the exp website and was offered different and was told all rooms are the same or similr. Internet is very slow at 11 mps. Room color is violet and lighting seems dim. Its okay I guess if you need an economical place

The staff was very friendly. I made international calls and the property didn't charged me because it was for my family. That is so nice of them!!! The area felt safe for me during the day. I didn't go out out late at night but that's a general rule of thumb when you travel internationally. I like the area because there's many places to eat, many stores, and public transportation is nearby. The hotel is old and the amenities are outdated but that's it has it's own charm. If you are looking for modern hotel and amenities, this is not it. But you are out exploring places anyway and then come back for the night to rest and sleep this is it.

I stayed just as the coronovirus situation was ramping up in Argentina. Staff were great with extra cleaning and notices around the hotel in English as well as Spanish. Front desk staff so helpful and happy to be flexible as so many people's plans changed

Booked in for 6 nights, left after 4. Noisy!. A room the size of a cupboard, a single bed meant for a child, noisy men shouting and slamming doors all night, traffic from the main street constant - sirens, buses, fights on the street. Breakfast very basic made worse by a large loud group of men staying there.

I’d stay again !!

The staff was very nice and helpful. I initially booked at the Lennox up the street which was a swanky boutique hotel but they tried to double charge me. The mundial is affordable yet clean and very centrally located. I was not bothered and enjoyed my stay very much.

Its hard to imagine a better place to stay for the price and keep the Argentine living style. The breakfast is good too if you are okay eating like the local culture. Although it says you have to pay upon arrival (if not paying online) they let me pay just whenever before check-out.

It was close to lots of restaurants and bars. Near to buses and the subway. Rooms were small and the bathrooms tiny but surprisingly still had a bidet which made them even more cramped. Breakfast plentiful but basic, coffee was good.

Would never ever stay there again the room you advertised on your site was not the room I got, the room I got was tiny a single bed thrown in the corner that barely fitted me the bathroom was tiny I had to step over the toilet bowl to get to the shower, everything was tiny dark and dingy. If this is what you call a room then I will have to look else where to do my future bookings. Most disappointing

Came for an official trip and stayed for a week. Staff at reception are courteous and helpful. Hotel is close to important places. Buffet breakfast is good.

I paid for 2 non smoking rooms and one of them instead was tabacco free!!! The hotel staff refused to re accommodate my family until next day.
Sheets and blankets were dirty also and the supervisor didn't want to change them.

Lastly, the hotel needs a lot of maintenance.

Hotel is very nice, very dynamic location, Av de Mayo is in the middle of the city close to all the tourist sightseeing, ease of access to many means of transportation like buses and subway. The hotel is surrounded by many restaurants, bars and cafes.

Staff were really nice and helpful, hotel was clean, and rooms were relatively big as per the prices posted.

GREAT location, lovely old building!

The hotel is in a *great* location for tourists: within a block of a Subte stop, easy walking distance to the Plaza de Mayo and very close to the other plaza, and the Avenue itself is interesting to walk along. There are frequent political demonstrations along the Avenue, but they are peaceful (though loud) and should be viewed as part of the experience.

The building has been renovated and has 'great bones': this would have been a gorgeous place to stay in, say, the 1920s. The furnishing of the rooms is a bit spartan (just a bed, table, simple chair, and shelves attached to the wall for nightstand), but the bed is very comfortable, the air cooling/heating system works very well, and the hot water is plentiful (you might have to let the water run for a couple of minutes to get it, but then it's steaming and seemingly infinite).

A few reviews have complained about the size of the bathrooms. Yes, the bathrooms are narrow, but they are perfectly usable and clean and, as mentioned above, there's plenty of hot water.

The staff are exceptionally helpful--one even loaned me her bus card so that I wouldn't have to deal with purchasing a separate card for myself! You have to ask about available tours (they don't push tours and extras on guests, which I greatly appreciate) but if asked, they make all the arrangements for you.

So in sum: no longer a luxury hotel, but a great place to stay as a tourist and in a great location for exploring Buenos Aires!

The wrost experience in hotels I had

Horrible, the toilet top deteriorated, spalled wood, door not even open 90 degree to get access, raised bathroom, carpet smelling a dog excrement, the entire room smell humidity,spalling walls, TV no digital, no good image, and the wrost, no wiffi although they charged for wiffi, the signal is only available in the lobby.
Something more, when I complain at front desk, they not even care, they were only concern to charge for the night.
And be carefull when you walk in Buenos Aires, the entire sidewalks are full with dog excrement, nobody who has a dog pick up the stuff.

9 Day Stay

We stayed for 9 days. We looked for a cheap hotel \"to just sleep\", and this hotel was just fine for that. We payed only US$33 per day, which is SUPER SUPER cheap. There were a few small details that didn't work good, but over all, nice stay. The cleaning lady did a fantastic job every day. I left a 50 pesos bill on the pillow for her as a tip. But it was still there when I came back and the bed was made. I had to leave a note to tell her to please take it. She did then and left a note with a big thanks. Yes, small room, small bathroom, a small leak in the shower handle and the joint between the beds were a little pain (to make our queen bed, they just put tighter 2 individual beds), but the AC worked, hot water worked. We were out so much we used it to sleep average 5 or 6 hours, shower and leave. The safe was awesome and NOTHING was missing, we left small things on the table and nothing was taken. The elevators were annoying a little because they did't work (I thought), but then found out that other customers didn't close the doors (they are manual) all the way and the elevator won't move. And finally there was a faint bad smell, unfortunately, as soon as you walked in the lobby, but just in the lobby, not in the room. But that's it. I was there 9 days. Awesome location. Walked to Av. 9 of July, to Congress, to Barolo Palace, Pink House, GREAT restaurants and \"kiosks\" all around... I loved that. Metro station right there, we used it a lot... only 50 US$ cents! SO cheap.

Basic but fine for my needs

Just a couple of blocks from the Palacio del Congreso and a moderate walk to Microcentro, Calle Florida, and the Casa Rosada, the location is perfectly fine for touring Bs.As. The hotel is halfway between two subte stops, both less than two blocks from the hotel. The room was fairly basic but very large--we asked for a twin and got a triple with plenty of room to walk around. It was older (love the high ceilings) but kept in decent condition. A/C worked well enough. Large bathroom, although shower stall was a little small. Good wifi signal (free) in our room, but connection was very slow. Note some other rooms can have poor or no wifi signal, so try to stay near the central elevator core if you need wifi. Strong and fast free wifi is available in the neighboring Starbucks if necessary. Hotel staff friendly and helpful, although English spoken is limited.

Deeply regretted staying here

I foolishly booked 4 nights in this hotel based on some positive reviews I had read. Big mistake. I had paid for a room with a double bed, and ended up in a cramped room with a single. The old, poorly-maintained elevator rarely worked. TV didn't work and even though I asked three times to have it fixed or changed rooms, the staff failed to coply throughout the 4 days. All fixing it would have required was changing the faulty cable, but the staff was just to lazy to make any sort of effort. When I expressed my displeasure, the surly kid at the desk suggested that I go ¨complain on the internet.¨ So I did.

Close to Congreso and good restaurants

Enjoyed our time at Hotel Mundial. It's an older building but in decent condition. We booked a twin and were given a triple corner room, so we had a ton of space. Decent beds; A/C included. Bathroom decent but a little smallish (but not uncomfortably so). Furnishings fairly basic. Couldn't get wifi from our room at the end of the hall; had to go to lobby or elevator area to get signal, and it was often slow. Front desk staff friendly (and some English spoken) but front desk was always swamped, so if you have questions or need to check out, give yourself an extra 10 minutes. Location great--1.5 blocks either direction to Subte stops, just around the corner from a top-rated Peruvian restaurant (Chan Chan--definitely worth a visit!), and only a few blocks to the national congress (to the left) and the Avenida 9 de Julio (to the right). Easy walking distance to the Teatro Colon, a moderate walk to Calle Florida and the Casa Rosada, and about 30 minutes to the heart of San Telmo. A convenient and good-priced laundry service is around the corner behind the hotel (if you don't want to pay the hotel's rates for laundry). All in all, would definitely stay there again if the price is right.

Great location, great value, very comfortable

Hotel is just steps away from Subway station, and is in very convenient location. Many restaurants, shops in area and is safe to walk around even late at night. Comes with the basic necessities such as free wifi, free breakfast, and safe in room. Bathroom very clean, and great water pressure for the shower. Would definitely recommend to others, and will saty here again next time in Buenos Aires. Great value for money.

Excellent value. We stayed here our first 4 nights in South America and couldn't be happier. It is within walking distance to downtown, and is in a safe area with restaurants etc. Mario (manager) was very helpful and spoke perfect english which helped us a lot. Very friendly staff. Hotel had a lot of character, nice high ceilings and balcanys. Buffet was great too, lots of variety...meats, cheese, fruits, cereal, cakes, you name it! All you can eat too. Will be staying at Hotel Mundial if we ever come back to BA. Muy Bien!

Noisy, Tiny, Dirty

This hotel was conveniently located to the Subte (one block away) and 9 de Julio, and in a pretty safe area but the three adjectives I would use to describe it are NOISY, TINY, and DIRTY. I am a small person but this room (single) was like living in a shoebox, and the bathroom was exceptionally small. It was noisy all hours of the day and night and they put me right by the old, noisy elevator which seemed to be running 24 hours, so I had to wear earplugs to sleep. For an \"updated\" hotel, my room was very dirty. I found a few hairs in the sheets and ripped towels, scuffs all over the walls, stains in the carpet, the shower door was broken. The bed was okay, but seeing as I found some stray hairs in the sheets, I was a bit grossed out. Wouldn't recommend a stay at this hotel unless desperate and need a cheap place. Breakfast was okay, nothing special.

to expensive for what you get .

First things first , the hotel towels were not clean , even though they had been washed , there was hair from whoever used it last . there was old carpet thoughout the room and the lobby , instead of having a queen size bed , you have two twin beds pushed together to make one large bed , not comfortable . the front desk were very helpful but could learn how to smile when talking to customers , but you will find that all over argentina . last but not least . this hotel was in the city center , but pretty far from all the resturants and clubs of palermo .

Lound, but great location

Wanna sacrifice comfortless of sleep for a great location? This is you hotel. Extremely loud traffic noise, as if your windows were open..... For the location and price, I just couldn't get a better deal, but after having stayed there, I probably wouldn't do it again. Take the noise away, I will rate it a 3 overall. Overall, loud, clean, outdated, but good service and very good location. I liked staying at a hostel in Rio de Janeiro better than this hotel.

great, great location !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel was very clean. Dining room had plenty of Food. Staff was helpful in everything. Note: I am a tango dancer, so this location was walking distance from many MILONGAS (tango Places). I stayed two weeks at this hotel and i recommend it. The only downside, was it did not have a security box. so, i left a tip for the maid everymorning, and all was well.
Plus, bank cash machine was across the street.

I stayed in a room with a single bed and the room was large enough, though some people might find the bed a bit small in terms of its width and most people would find the shower space small. Since the room had a huge window (or a glass door) which did not shut perfecly, cold air and noise came in from outside at night, but was manageable using AC. Breakfast was nice offering a variety of breads and long availability (7am - 10:30am). Staff at the front was helpful with at least one of them present being able to speak English.

Good Stay

The best parts were the staff, the continental breakfast, and the close access to tourist places. The location is rather noisy and the walls are thin so I could hear my neighbors. My room was close to the elevator so I had to hear it beep whenever I was in my room. I recommend asking for a room away from the street and especially away from the elevator.

Jorge at the front desk makes the hotel. Had it not been for him, my rating would have been much lower. The location is good, not great. The room was just a room, but it was quite clean thanks to Soledad who cleans both the 6th and 7th flooors. She's just the sweetest. Starbuck's is next door. The breakfast buffet was quite good.Easy access to the subte (subway) 2 blocks away.

Friendly, central and good value small hotel.

We found it to be a very friendly hotel right in the centre of Buenos Aires at an unbeatable price. One can walk to Casa Rosada, Congress, Avenida 9 de Julio, Florida, the underground station etc within minutes. The hotel provides an excellent cold buffet breakfast, however there is no restaurant or room service so you must go elsewhere for meals, but this is easy as there are lots of eating places of all kinds within 5 minutes walk. The early 20th century building is interesting and the rooms of reasonable size with well furnished en-suite bathrooms. The drawbacks are few. To make the place gain 5 points for everything, I would recommend that the hotel replaces the dingy and musty carpets with modern floor coverings such as timber laminate or floor tiling, provides a room safe in each room and provides some storage furniture for clothing as we had to live out of our suitcases for a week.

I was so disappointed in this hotel. When we walked into the room we smelled a terrible \"odor\". There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The wall in the bedroom needed to be painted. We couldn't sleep at night due to the traffic that kept us awake. The curtains were dirty.

Just a note that I was a single traveler who stayed multiple days.

The bad:

1. I was stuck in a room next to the elevator (an old model, with metal doors and iron siding), which meant I couldn't sleep until 2 a.m. (because folks were returning from a night out) and you couldn't sleep in past 7 a.m. (because folks were heading to the complementary breakfast).

2. The mini-bar refrigerator door was broken, meaning it wouldn't close. The refrigerator engine probably long ago went bust.

3. The room door had a frosted window at the top and so hallway light shown in during the night.

4. The walls were smudged.

The good:

1. The staff was wonderful. One remembered my name from the start and whenever I walked pass would say hello. Even one who seemed very unapproachable was actually very helpful.

2. Good selection of television channels, many in English (though I do wish they would have had a English language news channel).

3. Clean bathroom.

4. A nice location with two metro lines nearby.

Caveat. I'm rating my over-all satisfaction with this hotel as a 2. It felt no different than staying at a Motel 6 (a US hotel chain). However, if you're not cheap like me and get an upgrade you might get a room down the lone hallway. If you're far enough from the elevators, I'd probably say this hotel ranks a solid 3.

Hotel Mundial is not far from Ezeiza airport and is on the corner but in the center of city life. You can just walk out and go to so many stores (but not any souvenir shops), kiosks, and restaurants. There is a currency change place around the corner. The problem is noone knows the name of anything or what street is they just tell you by \"go 2 blocks left and 4 blocks right.\" I believe her name is Angelica, she works in the day hotel clerk and speaks good english. There's a man in the evening who speaks pretty good english but the rest of the men who work there don't know any english nor do they seem to even do anything. We left early in the morning by 7AM and the front desk clerk was no where to be found, there was another worker in a suit who is completely useless he doesn't answer the phones nor knows english. Angelica is a godsend because she came early to her shift and checked us out and let us grab some breakfast before leaving. Their breakfast buffet is included and is so good! They do have an elevator/lifts but you have to slide open the elevator door and open another door but it's not hard. This Hotel is very nice and clean. I would highly recommend this hotel. They have free wi-fi and a free computer to use downstairs in the lobby but everyone is on it all of the time. You do have to ask for the city tours but you have to reserve it a day in advance and the tour bus picks you up in front of the hotel but beware they don't drop you off in front of your hotel again.

The room I received was not what was pictured - far worse. The hotel is downtown so to speak and it is extremely noisy. The noise from the street does not stop - making it difficult to sleep. It is a rundown hotel. For one or two nights it is doable - but probably not for someone vacationing or trying to relax/enjoy themselves. The staff on the other hand was extremely helpful; beyond what was expected of them to make your stay comfortable. The selling point is the price. Hotels in B.A. can be expensive. However you get what you pay for. Kudos to the staff.

I would go back but i would ask for different room location.

Staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Due to the location of hotel which is in one of the main roads and the room given to us, it was difficult to sleep as there was a 24 hour noise from traffic and people. Staff offered me a different room after 1st night but rest of the family was TOO LAZY to move. HOTEL is under refurbushing so when it finished it will look pretty nice. Maintenance of the rooms was excelent. It is pretty good for the price paid.

A good choise for Buenos Aires

The Hotel is located nearly the center of Buenos Aires, from where in 20 min you are in the most points of interest (a metro station is not far away). In the reception they are very friendly, the breakfast ist great, only the rooms are very small, but clean.

If you are working on electrical sircut so you are OK, in this hotel YOU CANT SLEEP if you are in the first floor. i was given room 109 and the door was broken, than i was moved to 106.
they didnt here about double glazing noise proove service to the client.do not use a money value horable.

Nice, old traditional hotel. The location is an advantage for those who want to stay close to some main touristic spots such as Casa Rosada, Plaza de Mayo, the Catedral, Av. 9 de Julio and even the famous shopping zone (calle Florida). Very good buffet breakfast. Service people are very kind and helpful. Fair price.

The aspect of the room (we stayed in a triple bedroom) is too simple and not decorated in accordance with the other main facilities of the hotel.

Mundial Hotel is Well Worth the Money

Great location, helpful staff, room was clean and comfortable, nothing fancy, but much more than we expected for the price. Nice breakfast and within walking distance of most BA attractions. Many nearby cafes and restaurants.

Hotel Mundial - great base for our tango holiday

We stayed at this great hotel for a week. Our double room was on the 5th floor and although basic it was very comfortable, clean and the perfect base for exploring the city. The staff at this pretty art deco hotel were lovely & very helpful, especially Jorge on the front desk, who went out of his way to help us on many occasions, his English was brilliant and his sense of humour made our trip so enjoyable, a great bloke! The breakfast buffet was continental and plentiful, with cereal, fruit, croissants, breads, cheeses, hams, muffins, cakes etc - the perfect start to the day. This hotel is great for those on a budget and is perfectly situated to explore Buenos Aires with the subway/ bus stops just up the road. The shopping district, the Obelisk, National Congress and some theatres are just a few blocks walk away. We came to see and dance Argentinean Tango and this hotel was a brilliant base to find plenty of shows, lessons & milongas. We had a great time and will definitely be back !!

We needed a good clean place to stay while in Buenos Aires. The Mundial would be OK for a one night stay for biz but would not recommend for a lengthy stay.
The hotel is clean and the staff nice. The continental breakfast is on par with most.
The rooms are adequate but the baths are small. Lots of late street noise but if you can sleep through that your fine. My biggest complaint was the bed. It was much like sleeping on a slab of marble.

Great location but choose room location

This hotel has a great location, however our room faced the main street and the noise was horrible all night long . Windows seems to be made out of paper and don't block out noise. However, the breakfast, hot shower and very friendly staff made it a good choice . You are in walking distance of many great restaurants and other attractions.

Hotel Mundial is a winner...based on price

The hotel was great and the staff was very helpful and courteous. It is very close to the Obelisk and other attractions. I stayed in single bed room and it was small. Real small. However, the room was clean and quiet and the internet worked well. Overall, for the price I paid I really can't complain.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Because the doors to the balcony do not close tightly enough, the air-conditioner/heater cant keep the room comfortable when the weather is hot or cold.

First visit to Buenas Aires

The hotel is an older hotel that has been somewhat updated but it is still an older building. The rooms are a little smaller than expected but this situation was found in the other hotels we stayed at throughout Argentina. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was most helpful. Our two night stay was very pleasant and I would stay there again.

Modern, clean and comfortable in Pallermo Hollywood, but not perfect

This hotel is spacious, clean, and comfortable. I only have two minor complaints, but I'll start with the positives. I walked in and the room was much more spacious than expected. I loved the decor; modern but warm and inviting. We had a view of the street from our room and a beautiful big tree right outside the window. The sliding glass door led to a little balcony. Nice. The bathroom was larger than I expect from big-city hotels. Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly except one. One night we were on our way out and my friend, very nicely, asked the guy at the reception desk to help her dial a local number for a friend (BA is notorious for their complicated dialing codes!) She talked to her friend a few minutes and immediately after she hung up the employee, in a rude tone, told us to wait so he could make sure our room got charged for the call. I'm thinking, OK, that must have been an expensive call for this guy to get so peeved! I asked how much would the call be and he said 4 or 5 pesos. This is $1 American. Really?! We were taken aback at how rude he was over a $1 phone call, so my friend mentioned the fact that construction had been going on all week waking us up every morning, to which he replied, \"That's irrelevant\". OK...so we just left because we didn't want to get in an argument over $1. I would still recommend this hotel because overall I was very impressed and would stay there again, but would not ask to make a call, geesh!

We had a flood in our bathroom one night. When my wife spoke to the front desk attendant he moved us to another room but explained we would have to move ourselves because they had no additional staff. So I had to move all of our bags and a crib for my one year-old daughter at 11 at night. Good times!

Very good, conventiently located hotel

Hotel Mundial was a very god, conventiently located hotel. I was amazed that I could get a hotel in a great location for such a cheap rate. My room was rather small, but that wasn't a problem. You can often expect this in old buildings. It had a great balcony where you could step outside for views. I would stay here again. Breakfast was ok. It was continental.
